Austin FC (2 wins, 2 losses, 0 draws) battle the Colorado Rapids (0-3-1) Saturday with kickoff from Q2 Stadium set for 8:30 p.m. ET (Apple TV). Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Austin FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

Austin FC is coming off a 2-0 road loss to the Houston Dynamo last Saturday. They had just .9 expected goals in that battle, ending a 2-game winning streak. Austin FC is 1-1-0 at home this season, taking down CF Montreal 1-0 and losing to St. Louis 3-2.

Austin FC has scored 5 goals and allowed 6 so far this season. Offensively, they are led by D Jon Gallagher, who has a team-high 2 goals. F Sebastian Driussi is the key attacker to keep an eye on.

Colorado has scored just 1 goal in 4 games and has allowed 7. Their -6 goal differential is the worst in the league. They are 0-2-0 on the road, losing to San Jose 1-0 and Seattle 4-0. The Rapids have allowed more than an expected goal in 3 of 4 games and had more than expected goal in 2 of 4. Their lone goal was scored by F Cole Bassett.

Austin FC vs. Colorado Rapids picks and predictions

Prediction

Austin FC 3, Colorado Rapids 1

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN AUSTIN FC (-160).

While the value isn’t necessary here, there’s really no other way to play this. Colorado has been the worst team in the MLS. Austin was 8-3-6 at home last season as well. Driussi has yet to find his footing offensively, but the 27-year-old should be able to get on track.

Austin also ranks 7th in shots and 10th in shots on target, so despite only having 5 goals, they have an offense that has been producing at a high level. Their defense has been a problem, allowing 1.5 goals per game, but the Colorado offense likely won’t be able to make them pay for that.

Ultimately, back AUSTIN FC (-160) but only for a small unit given the value.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-140).

Austin is allowing 1.5 goals per game, and while their offense is averaging just 1.25 right now, they were at 1.91 goals per game last season and should improve to around that level with Druissi still leading the way.

Austin has gone Over this in 2 of 4 games this season. Colorado has also gone Over in 2 of 4 and has allowed multiple goals in 2 of 4 as well. The pace of this game and lacking defense by Colorado should allow for ample scoring opportunity. Also as noted above, the Austin offense is better than their 5 goals show.

Take the OVER 2.5 (-140).

Austin FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Austin FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

Austin FC (16 wins, 10 losses, 7 draws) hosts the Colorado Rapids (11-13-9) in Q2 Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Austin FC vs. Colorado Rapids odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

This season’s fate for both of these teams is already secured. Austin cannot fall or rise out of 2nd place in the West, and the Rapids, in 10th, cannot get into playoff position.

The Rapids have been one of the MLS’s worst teams on the road, recording just 1 win and a 1-11-4 record away from DSG Park. It has been a disappointing campaign after finishing atop the West last season. Colorado is led by F Diego Rubio, who has 15 goals on the season.

Austin has had tremendous success this season, rebounding off a 12th-place (13 teams in the conference) finish a season ago. It is 8-3-5 on at home this season and is led in scoring by F Sebastián Driussi, who has 21 goals, the 2nd-most in the MLS.

Prediction

Austin FC 3, Colorado Rapids 2

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN AUSTIN FC (-125).

The season-long trend for the Rapids is that they’ve been awful on the road, and one shouldn’t suggest that will be different even though both teams are in a meaningless match.

Austin has won 3 of its last 5 matches at home while the Rapids have lost 4 of their last 5 on the road.

Colorado’s last 3 road losses were 4-1, 4-1 and 6-0, so they haven’t just lost at home, good teams like Philadelphia, Nashville and the Galaxy have dominated them.

Considering that and the expectation the home team would want to send their fans back home with 3 more points, I’d back AUSTIN (-125) here.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+122).

Colorado has given up 4 or more goals in 4 of its last 6 road games.

In those matches as well, it has been shut out just twice. The Rapids would’ve gone over this total in 4 of the 6, and against a team that has scored the 2nd-most goals in the West, they may struggle.

The Austin backline isn’t great either as they’ve allowed the 2nd-most goals of a top-5 team in its conference. Austin has gone over this total in 7 of its last 10 home matches as well.

Couple it all together, and for this value, I’d play the OVER 3.5 (+122).

Austin FC vs. LAFC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Austin FC vs. LAFC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

Austin FC (14 wins, 6 losses, 6 draws) welcomes LAFC (18-5-3) Friday to Q2 Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we preview the Austin FC vs. LAFC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Austin FC has been outstanding this season and has posted a 6-2-4 record at home this season. Austin is 2-1-1 in its last 4 home games and has scored 3 or more goals in all 4.

Austin has scored 55 goals on the season, the exact same as LAFC. However, its defense hasn’t quite been as good, allowing 10 more goals (36 vs. 26). Austin is led by F Sebastián Driussi with 18 goals on the season.

LAFC, which might have the best roster in MLS history, added F Gareth Bale in the middle of the season to further bolster their lineup. They also brought in former Italian star D Giorgio Chiellini.

Los Angeles is led in scoring by F Cristian Arango with 12 goals. It also has F Carlos Vela, a 2022 All-Star who has 8 goals and 7 assists.

Prediction

LAFC 2, Austin FC 1

Money line (ML)

BET LAFC (+130).

LAFC lost the 1st time around vs. Austin FC at home. They were defeated 2-1 on May 18, but there are a few reasons to love them in this situation, and one is that they actually did dominate that game.

LAFC had 2.4 expected goals in that match which compares favorably to Austin’s 1.0. Also, Austin is starting to show some flaws, having gone 2-1-2 in its last 5.

LAFC has had more expected goals than their opponent in 9 of 12 road matches and has also won 3 of its last 4. They are a complete side that can both defend and attack with pace.

Austin is a solid, capable side, but its defense hasn’t been there lately. Austin has given up 16 goals in its last 7 home matches. LAFC may be able to shred Austin’s backline.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 3.5 (-145).

LAFC is a score-heavy side, as is Austin. Most indications are this should be a high-scoring match, but one would have said the same for LAFC’s 1-0 win over D.C. United or a 2-1 win over San Jose. LAFC has gone under this total in 5 of their last 7. Austin has gone under in 3 of its last 6.

Given who will take the pitch and the high-profile nature surrounding this match, which will be televised on ESPN, I would certainly just lean to the Under 3.5 (-145).

Colorado Rapids vs. Austin FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Colorado Rapids vs. Austin FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (5 wins, 7 losses, 4 draws) host Austin FC (9-4-4) Monday. Kickoff from DSG Park is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Colorado Rapids vs. Austin FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After finishing with the most points in the Western Conference last season, Colorado has struggled to keep that same pace. It sits 12th in the West, having scored 17 goals and allowed 21 in 16 matches.

The Rapids haven’t received the same production from F Michael Barrios and F Jonathan Lewis this season. F Diego Rubio leads the team with 7 goals. Colorado’s defense is allowing .28 more goals per game than a season ago. The Rapids are 5-1-2 at home and are 0-6-2 on the road.

Austin FC, in its second season, has surprisingly pleased supporters. With 32 goals on the season, it sits only behind LAFC in goals per game in the West.

Austin sits 2nd in the West with 31 points in 17 matches. Austin has been impressive on the road, posting a 5-3-1 record. It has won 5 of its last 7 road matches and its last 2 away from Q2 Stadium.

[tipico]

Prediction

Colorado 1, Austin 1

Money line (ML)

BET TIE OR AUSTIN FC -107.

Austin has been the better all-around team this season. It’s been a difficult side to beat, having lost just 4 times which is tied with LAFC for the fewest in the conference.

Austin has won 3 of its last 4 road games, having defeated the top team in both conferences while on the road.

Colorado is a capable side, but the Rapids have been awful when attacking. They’re 1 of 3 teams in the West with a sub-1.1 goals per game average.

I’ll trust the better offense with a strong road resume to at least come out with a draw.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+110).

Colorado’s defense has allowed multiple goals in 5 of 8 road matches, but at home, it’s that same defense that led the West a season ago.

They’ve gone under this total in 6 of 8 home matches, which include matches against LAFC and Seattle. Colorado and its opponent have combined for under 3 expected goals in all but 1 home match.

Austin is an attack-heavy side, but in its last 2 road matches, it has won 1-0, defying what it’s shown in the rest of its away games. Both teams also rank in the top half of the league in save rate.

Austin FC vs. LA Galaxy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Austin FC vs. LA Galaxy odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

Austin FC (6 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws) welcomes the LA Galaxy (5-3-1) to Q2 Stadium Sunday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Austin FC vs. LA Galaxy odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Austin FC started the season with 2 straight wins, scoring 5 goals in each. They went through a slight lull where they drew 2 and lost 1. Since then, Austin has won 4 straight.

Two Argentinian newcomers, M Sebastián Driussi and F Maximiliano Urruti, lead the team in scoring with 7 and 4 goals respectively. Austin FC is 4-0-1 at home this season.

It’ll be difficult for Austin to steamroll the LA Galaxy though. The Galaxy are led by Mexican star F Chicharito, who has 5 goals and is the only LA player with more than 1.

The Galaxy sit 4th in the West behind their conference-best defense which has allowed just 7 goals. They’ve pitched 4 shutouts and have allowed just 1 multi-goal game. The Galaxy are 2-2-1 on the road.

Austin FC vs. LA Galaxy odds, lines, picks and predictions

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -135| U: +110)

[tipico]

Prediction

Austin FC 1, LA Galaxy 0

Money line (ML)

BET AUSTIN +135.

Austin FC has been terrific at home this season. Not only have they not lost, but they have outscored their opponents 15-1.

The only team that has entered Q2 and not left with zero points was the Seattle Sounders, ironically the only team to also put up a multi-goal game on the Galaxy.

LA’s inability to score is also concerning. They have scored just 1 goal in their last 3 games. Against a defense that ranks tied for the 3rd-fewest goals in the conference, LA may struggle.

Considering how well Austin has been at home and the current form of LA, I’ll back Austin to win here, especially at this value.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+110).

Austin’s offense has generated goals frequently this season, but it has struggled against top-tier defenses.

Austin put 10 goals on FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami combined, but against Minnesota, a top-5 defense in the West, they scored just 1. They’ve scored 3 goals in 2 games against teams currently in playoff position and both resulted in a win.

LA has 1 goal in its last 3 games. It has had just 3 multi-goal games and has been held without a goal 3 times as well. Two of those 3 scoreless matches came on the road.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see a team that relies so heavily on Chicharito struggle. With that in mind, I like the Under 2.5 (+110) here.

Austin FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Austin FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

In an MLS opener, Austin FC welcomes FC Cincinnati Saturday to Q2 Stadium for a 6 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we preview the Austin FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Having disappointed since joining the MLS from the USL, FC Cincinnati is in store for another rough season, returning most of the same roster that finished 4-22-8 (W-L-draw) last season. It was 3-11-3 on the road last year.

F Brenner is expected to start and be Cincinnati’s key offensive weapon.

Austin lost its leading scorer per 90 minutes (0.42 goals), F McKinze Gaines, to newcomer Charlotte FC. Austin still has F Sebastián Driussi, who should take Gaines’ spot up top – Driussi scored 5 goals in 17 matches last season.

Austin didn’t do much better than Cincy last year, finishing 9-21-4 last season, placing second-to-last (out of 13 teams) in the Western Conference.

Prediction

Austin 2, FC Cincinnati 1

Money line (ML)

PASS.

Austin FC (-170) is a bit too pricey in this situation, especially as FC Cincinnati’s roster should have built some chemistry over the last year of competition.

The two clubs combined to surrender 130 goals last season. FC Cincinnati allowed 74 and Austin FC yielded 56. Offensively, they both averaged just over a goal per game.

This is why BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (-122) is my favorite bet of the match.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the OVER 2.5 (-125).

FC Cincinnati gave up 2.18 goals per game last season and didn’t do much to strengthen its backline. Austin added Columbian M Jhojan Valencia this offseason, dubbed its most important addition by several publications.

MF Alex Ring should be able to get more involved in the attack, helping produce goals, which is what the club lacked last season.

Given both soft defenses, goals should be plentiful.

Colorado Rapids at Austin FC odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Colorado Rapids at Austin FC odds and lines, with MLS betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Colorado Rapids (7 wins, 4 losses, 3 draws) travel south to take on Austin FC (3-7-4) at Q2 Stadium. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Colorado Rapids vs. Austin FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Rapids are entering this match dangerously shorthanded. As the United States is set to play in the CONCACAF Gold Cup final, the Rapids will continue to be without M Kellyn Acosta, F Jonathan Lewis and D Sam Vines.

Austin FC, who has been among the worst teams in the Western Conference this season, won’t be missing anyone for Gold Cup action; however, they’ve still lost three of their last five matches.

Prediction

Austin FC 1, Colorado Rapids 1

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to the DRAW (+240) as the Rapids are still a strong side, despite their absences.

The Rapids are 2-1-2 over their last five matches. They’re coming off a rough 3-0 loss against Real Salt Lake but have recently taken down both FC Dallas and Minnesota United FC.

Without a key midfielder and defender, it could be tough for the Rapids to gain much traction. Austin FC hasn’t been competent offensively this season, with just 10 goals through 14 matches.

Expect a low-scoring, even-sided game in this one. The draw is the best value on the money line.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (-115) as Austin has one of the worst offenses in MLS. It has also given up only 15 goals in 14 matches.

The Rapids will be without one of their key midfielders and only F Michael Barrios has consistently been a threat for the away side. He has scored 4 goals in 14 starts.

Despite the Rapids’ 21 goals, I’d bet on this being a slower-paced game as they’re on the road and short-handed, having also come off a loss July 24.

The Rapids hit the Under in four of their last five matches. Austin FC played to the Under in eight of its last nine games.

The Sounders suffered their first setback of the season, a 1-0 loss Sunday at Minnesota United. They also played to a scoreless draw at Lumen Field in Seattle against Austin in the first head-to-head meeting May 31.

Austin FC suffered a 2-0 loss to visiting Los Angeles FC last time out (July 8) before the international break and bye. Austin has been blanked in four of the past five matches overall.

UNDER 2.5 (-110) is a slam-dunk play. Both teams are banged up and missing key members. Seattle will also be without the Roldan Brothers, as Cristian Roldan is playing for the USMNT and Alex Roldan is playing for El Salvador in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Scoring will be at a premium just like the last time these squads played.

The Timbers enter this game seventh in the Western Conference, but they have not played well away from Providence Park, having lost 3 of their 5 road games.

As for Austin, it has played 11 matches but just two of those were at home and it tied both. Scoring has been the second-year club’s major problem, with just 6 goals through 11 matches.

Against a lacking Portland backline, Austin might be able to get something going, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Prediction

Portland Timbers 1, Austin FC 1

Money line (ML)

Neither team can be trusted to get the win, so if anything, bet on the DRAW (+230). After all, the only two games Austin FC has played at Q2 Stadium ended in draws.

Since Portland returned from the international break, it has gone 1-1-1, playing only teams ahead of it in the standings. Unless 29-year-old F Dairon Asprilla can get going, I don’t see either side doing much damage.

Austin, who doesn’t have much firepower on its roster, is coming off a 0-0 draw with the Columbus Crew at home. Expect a slow slugfest in this once. Austin FC has just 2 wins on the season and hasn’t proven to be much better at home.

Slightly lean to the Draw, but look to the total for the best value.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (-105) as the best value this game has to offer. Portland has allowed 15 goals through 10 games and Austin has allowed 11 goals in 11 games.

While the Timbers concede at a higher rate, Austin FC can’t capitalize, especially at home. Its 43 shots on target this season rank in the league’s top half, but Austin has just 6 goals, which is by far the lowest total in the Western Conference.

Austin and Chicago are the only teams in MLS with fewer than 9 goals. It’s been a pitiful display on offense, and there’s no reason to think it changes Thursday. Austin FC has yet to score a goal at home this season.

Portland has scored 4 goals in three games since the international break. I’d expect a 1-1 game, but 0-0 or 1-0 doesn’t seem too out of the question.

Either way, bet the UNDER 2.5 (-105).

Columbus Crew at Austin FC odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Columbus Crew at Austin FC odds and lines, with MLS betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Columbus Crew (4 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws) visit Austin FC (2-5-3) Sunday at Q2 Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. Austin FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

For Austin FC, this will be just its second home game of the season. Nine of its 10 matches thus far were away from Q2 Stadium and it’s just 2-5-2 on the road.

Austin’s only home match was a 0-0 draw against San Jose. With 9 points through 10 games, Austin is 11th in the Western Conference and has 2 draws and a loss since the international break.

As for the Crew, they have a win and a loss in two games since returning to play. They’re sixth in the Eastern Conference with 14 points through nine games but are 1-3-1 on the road.

  • Money line: Columbus Crew +170 (bet $100 to win $170) | Austin FC +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | Draw +220
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -110 | U: -120)

Prediction

Columbus Crew 1, Austin FC 0

Money line (ML)

PASS on the money line despite all three options being plus-money bets.

There’s ample reason to think the Crew could come out on top, and at +170, they offer good value. However, they lost or drew in four of their five matches on the road.

Given that Austin FC’s record is almost strictly on the road, it’s tough to gauge how good it is in front of a home crowd. Austin scored 1 goal in its last six games.

Now, given Austin’s inability to score, a win or Crew draw could be good value, but at -200, I’d stay away from it. There’s a better bet to be had against the Over/Under.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (-120) as these aren’t attack-heavy teams.

Austin can’t score and has just 6 goals through 10 matches. It’s last in scoring in the league; the next closest team in the Western Conference has 9 goals.

As for the Crew, they used to be a dominant scoring side but have just 9 goals through nine games.

Crew F Gyasi Zardes is expected to suit up. He has 3 goals in eight appearances. Last season, he had 12 goals in 21 games but hasn’t finished as well in 2021.

All the numbers point to a low-scoring match, and given that -120 offers good value, the Under is the best bet.
