Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (9 wins, 12 losses, 9 draws) welcome the San Jose Earthquakes (7-13-9) to DSG Park Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Rapids enter this match with slim, but possible, postseason hopes. They did get 3 points in their last match, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.

Colorado is led by F Diego Rubio who is the team’s only player with double-digit goals (13 and 5 assists). Having finished atop the conference last season, the Rapids strength, their defense, is their weakness now, having allowed 1.7 goals per game this season.

As for San Jose, it just lost 6-0 to FC Cincinnati. While that was on the road, that result was inexcusable, and staying on the road, the confidence for the Earthquakes is likely at an all-time low.

The Earthquakes are led in scoring by F Jeremy Ebobisse, who has 15 goals on the season. San Jose has lost 3 of its last 5 matches, but does have recent wins over Vancouver and LAFC. It is just 1-10-4 on the road this season.

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 3, San Jose Earthquakes 2

Money line (ML)

PASS.

Colorado should come out on top. It is 8-2-5 at home this season, and while San Jose has struggled immensely on the road, the value just doesn’t feel here at -190.

There’s too much risk, especially with San Jose coming off a 6-0 loss. It only gave up 8 shots on goal, so it was more about FCC taking advantage of their chances than the atrocious San Jose defense.

Back Colorado on the total as this should be a high-scoring battle.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+125).

San Jose had 9 shots and 5 on target against FC Cincinnati. It arguably should have had multiple goals as well ,but ended up being embarrassed, something Colorado knows quite a bit of.

The Rapids have allowed 11 goals in their last 4 matches, 2 of those games combining for 10 of those goals. Colorado is a fast-paced side, averaging 1.37 goals per game.

The larger point is that this will be 2 of the worst defenses in the MLS taking the field with the Rapids allowing 1.7 goals per game on San Jose allowing a league-worst 2.1 per game.

Both teams sit in the bottom-8 clubs in shots against, so the offenses should get enough chances.

With 2 top-tier strikers and a home side that should be looking to earn 3 points, back the OVER 3.5 (+125) as goals should be in bunches on Wednesday evening.

Inter Miami CF vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Inter Miami CF vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

Inter Miami CF (10 wins, 13 losses, 6 draws) welcomes the Columbus Crew (9-6-14) to DRV PNK Stadium Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Inter Miami CF vs. Columbus Crew odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Sitting in 7th in the Eastern Conference, the Crew needs to find a way to secure 3 points on the road. They’re 3 points ahead and a game behind the 8th-seeded New England Revolution.

Inter Miami has the same amount of games played as Columbus, but is 5 points behind in the standings. The Crew are led by M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 9 goals in 21 starts this season.

Miami has been led by 34-year-old F Gonzalo Higuaín with 10 goals in 23 appearances. Including a 1-0 loss in Columbus, Miami has lost 3 straight matches.

Inter has been far better at home though as they post an 8-3-3 record at DRV PNK Stadium.

They’re 3-0-1 in their last 4 home matches. Inter has 5 matches left, 3 of them at home, so there is a slim chance they got hot and are able to make the playoffs.

Prediction

Inter Miami 2, Columbus Crew 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN INTER MIAMI CF (+135).

Miami has been a different animal at home. Also, Miami is about 2 weeks removed from losing in Columbus to the Crew, and there’s no denying that they’ll have that in the back of their minds.

Miami has not lost to an Eastern Conference team in both matches this season. Even against Philadelphia and NYCFC, it either drew or won the game they didn’t lose.

The Crew have lost just once since May 21. They are a solid side, but this trend is going to be snapped eventually. Against a hungry Miami team that plays well at a home, I’d bet Miami is able to come out on top.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-115).

Miami has hit this total in their last 7 home games and has only missed it in 3 of 14 home matches this season. Miami is a strong attacking side with an experienced and skilled striker leading the way.

Similarly, Columbus newcomer F Cucho has 8 goals in 10 starts. He’s been a huge help to an offense that struggled early in the season.

Miami is tied for the 4th-most goals allowed in the East as well, so it is a side that has a weak defense which should help the Crew. Columbus also ranks in the top half of the league in passing percentage and shots.

It should be able to make its way through Miami’s porous defense.

Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (8 wins, 12 losses, 9 draws) welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps (9-13-7) to DSG Park Saturday. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Both teams are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs. With 29 games under their belt, each side will have 4 more following this. So the clock is ticking for a run to be made.

Colorado’s most recent match was a 0-0 draw with the East’s bottom club, D.C. United. That needed to be a win, but the home side has been far better at DSG Park, posting a 7-2-5 record.

The Rapids are led in scoring this season by F Diego Rubio, who has scored 12 goals in 23 starts. Vancouver is led in scoring by Canadian F Lucas Cavallini, who has 8 goals on the season.

On the other hand, the Whitecaps are just 2-9-4 on the road. The consistency between these teams is that they don’t play well away from their home field. Vancouver has lost 2 straight and 3 of its last 5.

Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 2, Vancouver Whitecaps 0

Money line (ML)

LEAN COLORADO RAPIDS (-140).

Simply put: the Rapids are good at home, and the Whitecaps are not good on the road. Colorado’s problem this season is also Vancouver’s problem — it can’t get points on the road.

The Whitecaps lost their first 6 games on the road and have lost 2 of their last 3 on the road. Colorado, on the other hand, has won 2 of its last 4 home matches and 5 of its last 10.

The reasoning for Colorado makes sense, but the value isn’t great. That said, I’ll just lean here.

Over/Under (O/U)

Another bet I like is the UNDER 2.5 (+125). This is more of a value play as neither team has necessarily had a good attack or defense this season.

After finishing atop the conference last season, Colorado has allowed 1.72 goals per game. However, it has allowed 6 goals in its last 5 home matches. Vancouver has scored 5 goals over its last 5 matches.

The Whitecaps have gone Under this total in 4 of their last 5 road matches while the Rapids have also gone Under this in 4 of their last 5 home matches. Both are trending towards the Under despite their lacking defenses.

That said, I’ll side with the trends and take the UNDER 2.5 (+125).

FC Cincinnati vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s FC Cincinnati vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati (9 wins, 8 losses, 12 draws) hosts the San Jose Earthquakes (7-12-9) at TQL Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the FC Cincinnati vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati is coming into this match in desperate need of a win, sitting in the final playoff spot (7th place) by 1 point. They’re coming off a midweek 1-1 draw against New York City FC.

At home, FCC is 5-4-6 at home this season. The home side is led by star F Brandon Vazquez, who has 16 goals and 4 assists. FCC has scored the 4th-most goals in the East this season.

As for San Jose, it sits 13th in the West. The Earthquakes are 12 points out of playoff position, so their hopes of postseason soccer are virtually over. However, San Jose has won 2 of its last 3. It has also lost 3 of its last 6.

What San Jose hasn’t done much of is draw, having tied in just 2 of its last 10. It is led by 25-year-old American F Jeremy Ebobisse, who has 15 goals on the season.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 2, San Jose Earthquakes 2

Money line (ML)

SPRINKLE ON DRAW (+380).

I don’t even want to upgrade this to a full lean or bet play. I would toss maybe a quarter-unit on it because the value simply is undeniable.

FCC has continuously played to the level of its competition. It should win, but you could say that against Atlanta, Vancouver and Miami, all games that have recently ended in a draw for the home side.

FCC has drawn 10 of its last 13. While San Jose hasn’t tied much lately, it’s worth a fraction of a unit to lean to the result that is the overwhelming majority of the home side’s recent matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+105).

Again, I’m not sure this is a full-unit bet, but the value is undeniable.

San Jose has given up multiple goals in 6 of its last 7 road matches. In 3 of those 7, it has scored multiple goals. The Earthquakes have given up 55 goals in 28 games, the most in the West.

The FCC attack is a lethal one that has typically played well at home. FCC has scored multiple goals in 4 straight games. They also have a weak defense, allowing 1.69 goals per game.

The strength of both sides is attacking while both have weaker-than-average defenses. Considering that, I’d play the OVER 3.5 (+105).

CF Montreal vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s CF Montreal vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

CF Montreal (16 wins, 9 losses, 4 draws) welcomes the Columbus Crew (9-6-13) to Saputo Stadium Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we preview the CF Montreal vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Columbus enters this match in 6th place in the Eastern Conference, but could drop out of playoff position with a loss and wins by New England and Cincinnati. The Crew are 0-2-1 against top-4 East sides on the road this season.

Columbus is coming off a 0-0 draw with the Chicago Fire and has drawn 4 of its last 5 matches. The Crew are led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 8 goals and 5 goals. Newcomer F Cucho has 8 goals in 11 appearances.

As for Montreal, it has been better on the road this season, posting a 7-5-2 record at home and an impressive 9-4-2 record on the road. Montreal is averaging 1.83 goals per game while allowing 1.55.

Despite allowing the most goals of any team in playoff position, CF Montreal does sit in a comfortable 2nd place. They’re led by 31-year-old star F Romell Quioto with 15 goals this season.

Prediction

CF Montreal 2, Columbus Crew 2

Money line (ML)

BET TIE OR COLUMBUS CREW (-120).

Instead of banking on a tie, which Columbus has been doing at a high rate this season, back the Crew here to either end this game with as many goals or more.

Columbus has lost just once since May 21, and between now and then, they have played teams like Philadelphia, Real Salt Lake, Toronto and NYCFC. Its lone loss was to Montreal, having 1 fewer shot.

Similarly, Montreal has strangely struggled at home, and while it has lost just once in August, it was at Saputo Stadium, where it 1-1-1 in its last 3 matches. Also Columbus should have more to play for in this battle.

Check out Pro Soccer Wire: For the American soccer fan, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s website provides a fresh look at the beautiful game.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-125).

Montreal has a terrific offense and a struggling defense. CF Montreal is one of the more high-paced sides in the MLS, scoring the 2nd-most goals (53) in the East.

They sit 2nd to Philadelphia, which is the top scoring team (63 goals) in the conference. However, the Union have only allowed 21 goals in 30 matches while Montreal has allowed 45 in 29 games.

Columbus, while it was a strong Under play earlier in the season, has gone Over this total in 6 of its last 11. In its Aug. 3 loss to Montreal it topped this total.

Expect at least 3 goals netted in this match.

New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

New York City FC (13 wins, 10 losses, 6 draws) welcomes FC Cincinnati (9-8-11) to Citi Field Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the New York City FC vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati’s win Saturday over Charlotte snapped a 3-game draw streak. Cincinnati is in playoff position, tied with New England for 7th, but, if the season ended today, they would be out due to their -1 goal differential.

FCC has drawn 9 of their last 12 matches. They’re led by star F Brandon Vazquez, who has 16 goals on the season. Fellow All-Star M Luciano Acosta leads the team with 10 assists. FCC has had just 2 clean sheets since May 7.

As for New York City FC, they have dropped off a cliff as of late. They have lost 6 of their last 7 matches. The absence of 23-year-old F Valentín Castellanos who is now playing with La Liga side Girona, has been brutal for NYCFC.

He had 13 goals in 17 starts. No one has gotten close to replacing him and their offense has struggled, scoring just 2 goals in their last 3 games. NYCFC has fallen to 4th in the conference.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 2, New York City FC 2

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW (+300).

Both of my plays in this game are going to be leans, not because of my confidence here, but because of the value.

FCC has played up to and down to the level of their competition. They got away with a win against Charlotte, a team that has been awful on the road. They still only had .3 more expected goals. In all but 3 matches in their last 12 draws, they have been within 1 expected goal on their opponent.

Similarly, NYCFC has struggled immensely of late and may not have that home-field edge fans are used to. They’ve lost 2 straight home games, both to non-playoff teams in the East.

That’s cause for concern enough, and with FCC having been a drawing machine as of late, I’ll play the draw for a small unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-175).

The value makes this tough to get behind, but the reasoning is undoubtedly there. NYCFC has gone over this in 6 of their last 7 matches. FCC has gone over this in 4 of their last 6.

They’ve been among the most high-paced teams in the league. Both teams sit top 6 in shots on target and top 5 in shooting percentage, so there should be a plethora of attacking opportunities.

FCC is also tied for the 3rd-most goals allowed in the East and NYCFC has  allowed at least 2 goals in 3 straight games.

Combine it all, and I’ll play the over for a unit at this value despite the odds.

D.C. United vs. Colorado Rapids odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s D.C. United vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

D.C. United (7 wins, 17 losses, 4 draws) hosts the Colorado Rapids (8-12-8) in Audi Field Sunday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the D.C. United vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Both teams sit outside of playoff position. The Rapids entered the weekend 7 points outside of the 7th spot in the Western Conference while United is last in the East and has the most losses in MLS.

Colorado will need to find a way to snag 3 points on the road, where it has struggled immensely. The Rapids are just 1-10-3 on the road this season, but this will be their lone game against a team in the East not in the playoff picture. United is 4-7-3 at home.

Colorado is led by F Diego Rubio with 12 goals and 5 assists on the season. United, while they’ve struggled to score this season, are led by F Taxiarchis Fountas with 11 goals and F Ola Kamara with 9.

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 3, D.C. United 1

Money line (ML)

BET COLORADO RAPIDS (+180).

This is more of a play against United as they’ve lost 4 of their last 5 matches. In 2 of their last 3, they’ve had their expected goals more than doubled by their opponent.

United just don’t have the firepower to hang with many teams and the confidence level seems to be at an all-time low as well. United has allowed 10 goals in their last 3 games.

With the Rapids on the outside of the playoffs, but still with a chance, they should play a skilled 11 that include Rubio, F Jonathan Lewis and F Michael Barrios.

Colorado has struggled this season, but it finished atop the conference last season. The talent is there as opposed to United who have struggled to even compete as of late.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-155).

United has gone under this total in 3 of their last 6 matches, but have gone over this total in 6 of their last 9. Colorado has gone over this total in 6 of its last 8.

With United’s defense lacking and Colorado a side that has played with pace, averaging 1.36 goals per game, expect this to be a high-scoring affair, especially given the Rapids lacking defense.

Both sides have allowed over 1.75 goals per game this season. Given the horrible defenses, I’ll take the OVER 2.5 (-155) here but just for a LEAN because of the lofty price on it.

Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (9 wins, 6 losses, 12 draws) welcome the Chicago Fire (8-13-7) to Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. Chicago Fire odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew come into the home match desperately needing to send Chicago home without any points. Columbus is playing more of an early evening match with Ohio State playing at 7:30 p.m. ET close by.

That shouldn’t impact Columbus, a side that is 6-4-4 at home this season. The Crew are led by star M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 8 goals and 5 assists. They also recently added F Cucho, who has 8 goals in 8 starts.

As for the Fire, they are sitting 2nd-to-last in the East with a -10 goal differential, having only scored 28 goals on the season. Chicago is led by F Kacper Przybyłko with 5 goals on the season.

Chicago is just 3-8-3 on the road this season and has lost 3 of its last 4 matches. The Fire may turn to Columbian 18-year-old F Jhon Durán for scoring. He has 3 goals in 9 starts (21 appearances).

Columbus is 2-0-1 against the bottom 2 teams in the East, having taken down Chicago on the road 3-2 earlier in the year. The Crew have won 5 of their last 12 matches.

This game should be more about the Fire’s struggles, having dropped 3 of their last 4. They haven’t scored in their last 3 games and have allowed 8 goals in their last 4.

Couple the motivation and recent play of each club, and I’ll take the Crew (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+110).

The Fire haven’t scored in 3 matches and have gone under this total in all 3. They don’t play at a quick pace and don’t have the goal scorers to put many attacks together. Chicago has the fewest goals scored in the conference.

Similarly, the Crew don’t play at a quick pace and have gone under this total in 2 of their last 4. Columbus hasn’t had a game where it has had more than 2 expected goals since March.

While it has the midfield play to win and even compete with top-tier sides, it isn’t a score-heavy club, averaging just 1.32 goals per game and allowing just 1.11.

FC Cincinnati vs. Charlotte FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s FC Cincinnati vs. Charlotte FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati (8 wins, 8 losses, 11 draws) welcomes Charlotte FC (10-16-2) to TQL Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the FC Cincinnati vs. Charlotte FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati is coming into this match after an absolute heartbreaking draw  against rival Columbus. After leading 2-1 following the clock striking 90, FCC gave up a goal and settled for their 9th draw in 11 games.

FCC is led by star F Brandon Vazquez, who has 16 goals and 4 assists on the season. Fellow All-Star M and captain Luciano Acosta has 6 goals and 9 assists. FC Cincinnati is 1 point outside of playoff position.

In its first season in the MLS, Charlotte has actually impressed, but has failed to get many results as of late. Not surprising for a 1st-year club, Charlotte FC has been awful on the road, posting a 2-8-2 record.

They have now lost 6 of their last 8. Charlotte is led by F Karol Świderski with 8 goals on the season. He’s the only player with more than 5 for the road side.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 3, Charlotte FC 2

Money line (ML)

BET FC CINCINNATI (-122).

FC Cincinnati has had a couple of tough breaks at home, but against both Columbus and Atlanta, in their last 2 home matches, they have looked like the better side.

FCC has had more expected goals than their opponent in 6 straight home matches, a streak that includes games against the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union.

Couple that with Charlotte’s awful play on the road this season, and FCC to win seems like the best bet at this value. Charlotte has lost 3 of its last 4 road matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN ALTERNATE OVER 3.5 (+155).

Charlotte has gone over this total in 4 straight road matches, and a good chunk of it is because of its poor defense. Charlotte is allowing 1.52 goals per game which won’t bode well against FCC’s high-pace offense.

FCC is an aggressive side and has the talent to back it up, having gone over this total in 4 of their last 5 matches. FCC averages 1.67 goals and allows 1.78 per game.

Considering how both have played as of late, I’ll take the alternate over for better value here.

Nashville SC vs. Colorado Rapids odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Nashville SC vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (8 wins, 11 losses, 8 draws) travel to face Nashville SC (10-9-9) at GEODIS Park Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Nashville SC vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After going winless in 6 straight matches, Nashville SC has found its groove as of late, beating its last two opponents (Vancouver and FC Dallas) by a combined score of 7-0.

Nashville is led by one of the best forwards in MLS, Hany Mukhtar. He has 16 goals and 7 assists on the season, leading the team in both categories. It sits in 5th place in the West.

Colorado is on the outside looking in. It sits in 11th and will need to make up 5 points on the 7th-placed LA Galaxy to reach the playoffs.

The Rapids have been awful on the road this season though, posting just a 1-9-3 record. Things appeared to be looking up after 2 straight wins over the New York Red Bulls and Minnesota United, but they’re now winless in 4 straight contests.

Prediction

Nashville SC 2, Colorado Rapids 1

Money line (ML)

BET NASHVILLE SC (-155).

I don’t love the value tied to this, but the Rapids have been too sloppy on the road not to take the home side. Colorado has lost 9 of 13 road matches and has lost 2 straight away from DSG Park.

The confidence is there for Nashville. The home team has won 2 straight contests and both games have been dominant efforts by the D Walker Zimmerman-led side. He’s been huge this season and should be able to tame a solid Rapids attack.

Colorado’s weakness isn’t in its offense, but rather that it allows 1.7 goals per game. It has just 1 clean sheet since May 23. Given Nashville has scored 7 goals in its last 2 games, the Rapids should have no chance to keep up.

Colorado lost 6-0 at Philadelphia Saturday as well. That may be a killer for its confidence, especially as it continues to edge lower in the playoff standings. Combine it all, and I’ll take the home side.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-160).

The value really isn’t great here which is why it is just a lean, but considering the strengths and weaknesses of both clubs, it is certainly the most reasonable play. Colorado has gone Over this total in 5 of its last 8 games.

The Rapids have allowed multiple goals in 5 of those 8 as well. They’ve also scored in all but 2 games since May 7, so they typically get on the board as well. Colorado is paced in scoring by F Diego Rubio who has 12 goals on the season.

Nashville has gone over this in 4 of its last 5 home matches and in 4 straight games. While I do like the OVER 2.5 (-160), my favorite play might be a PARLAY PLAY OF OVER 1.5 at (-540) and NASHVILLE SC (-150) combined to odds of (-118).
