The Vancouver Whitecaps (0 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses) welcome Charlotte FC (1-0-0) to BC Place Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (Apple TV). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Charlotte FC odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

Vancouver is the only team in the MLS that has yet to play a game this season. The Whitecaps had a strong 2023 season, finishing 6th in the Western Conference with a 12-12-10 record. They ended with a +7-goal differential. Vancouver was 8-6-3 at home and will be led by its leading scorer, from a year ago in F Brian White, who had 15 goals last season.

Charlotte FC won its season opener 1-0 at home vs. NYCFC 1-0. It was a strong effort from Charlotte, ending the game with 4 times as many expected goals. D Adilson Malanda scored the lone goal in the win. Charlotte finished 9th last season in the Eastern Conference, being eliminated in the Wild Card round by the New York Red Bulls.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Charlotte FC picks and predictions

Prediction

Vancouver Whitecaps 2, Charlotte FC 1

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN VANCOUVER WHITECAPS (-120).

Going on the road is never easy and being about 3,000 miles away from home makes things even tougher. Charlotte hasn’t been in the league for a long time and struggled last season on the road, posting just a 4-5-8 road record. It won against NYCFC last week but had just 38% possession.

Vancouver is returning White and has yet to play this season, so it should be rested and well-supported by its home crowd. The Whitecaps won 12 games at home last season while Charlotte struggled on the road.

For this value, BACK VANCOUVER (-120).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-136).

Charlotte’s defense didn’t get much better than it was a season ago when it allowed 1.53 goals per game, while the Whitecaps attack netted 1.62 goals per game. The reason Vancouver could score that frequently but not be a top-5 team was its defense, one which yielded 1.41 goals per game.

Neither team defended well last season, and although Charlotte held NYCFC scoreless in this season’s opener, Vancouver should capitalize on those opportunities like it did a season ago. Expect a high-scoring game in Canada Saturday.

TAKE OVER 2.5 (-136).

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. FC Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vancouver Whitecaps vs. FC Cincinnati odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vancouver Whitecaps (5 wins, 5 losses, 6 draws) welcome FC Cincinnati (12-1-3) to BC Place Saturday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Vancouver Whitecaps vs. FC Cincinnati odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati has been red hot lately, making MLS history as the first team to reach 39 points in 16 games. It has won 6 straight games, 2 of which have been on the road, and also is on its way to the semifinal in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. FCC is led by its captain, M Luciano Acosta, who has 7 goals and 2 assists. No other player has more than 4 goals.

Vancouver is 2-3-1 over its last 6 games, but it hasn’t lost at home since a 2-1 defeat to Real Salt Lake to open the season. The Whitecaps are 5-1-3 at BC Place. They are led by F Brian White, who has a team-high 6 goals this season. The Whitecaps average 1.63 goals per game while they allow 1.25.

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. FC Cincinnati picks and predictions

Prediction

Vancouver Whitecaps 1, FC Cincinnati 1

Moneyline (ML)

SPRINKLE DRAW (+250).

The Whitecaps have drawn 3 times at home, and they are taking on the best team in MLS. Vancouver lost 2 of its first 10 games yet has dropped 3 of its last 6, so it isn’t playing at a high level right now either.

Given the Open Cup, FCC has given top players like F Brandon Vazquez more minutes than expected, so expect the potent offense to give rest to a few key forwards. FCC has drawn 3 of 7 road matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+100).

FC Cincinnati has gone Under in 2 of its last 3 games and in 2 of its last 3 road matches. As noted, it may also give limited minutes to key attackers like Vazquez and M Alvaro Barreal.

Vancouver has gone Under in 2 of its last 4 but has topped 2 expected goals in just 1 of its last 6 matches.

Both teams also rank in the bottom half of the league in shots against, so defense has been paramount for both clubs. Considering that and the recent trends, take the UNDER 2.5 (+100).

Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (8 wins, 12 losses, 9 draws) welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps (9-13-7) to DSG Park Saturday. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Colorado Rapids vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Both teams are on the outside looking in when it comes to the playoffs. With 29 games under their belt, each side will have 4 more following this. So the clock is ticking for a run to be made.

Colorado’s most recent match was a 0-0 draw with the East’s bottom club, D.C. United. That needed to be a win, but the home side has been far better at DSG Park, posting a 7-2-5 record.

The Rapids are led in scoring this season by F Diego Rubio, who has scored 12 goals in 23 starts. Vancouver is led in scoring by Canadian F Lucas Cavallini, who has 8 goals on the season.

On the other hand, the Whitecaps are just 2-9-4 on the road. The consistency between these teams is that they don’t play well away from their home field. Vancouver has lost 2 straight and 3 of its last 5.

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 2, Vancouver Whitecaps 0

Money line (ML)

LEAN COLORADO RAPIDS (-140).

Simply put: the Rapids are good at home, and the Whitecaps are not good on the road. Colorado’s problem this season is also Vancouver’s problem — it can’t get points on the road.

The Whitecaps lost their first 6 games on the road and have lost 2 of their last 3 on the road. Colorado, on the other hand, has won 2 of its last 4 home matches and 5 of its last 10.

The reasoning for Colorado makes sense, but the value isn’t great. That said, I’ll just lean here.

Over/Under (O/U)

Another bet I like is the UNDER 2.5 (+125). This is more of a value play as neither team has necessarily had a good attack or defense this season.

After finishing atop the conference last season, Colorado has allowed 1.72 goals per game. However, it has allowed 6 goals in its last 5 home matches. Vancouver has scored 5 goals over its last 5 matches.

The Whitecaps have gone Under this total in 4 of their last 5 road matches while the Rapids have also gone Under this in 4 of their last 5 home matches. Both are trending towards the Under despite their lacking defenses.

That said, I’ll side with the trends and take the UNDER 2.5 (+125).

Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Vancouver Whitecaps (8 wins, 11 losses, 6 draws) welcome the Colorado Rapids (8-9-7) to BC Place Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we preview the Vancouver Whitecaps vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Whitecaps enter this match after being destroyed on the road by the LA Galaxy 5-2 last weekend. Vancouver was down 3-0 within the first half an hour. It is 6-3-3 at home though.

Vancouver is 2-1-1 at home against non-playoff Western Conference teams. It also has a home win over LAFC. The Whitecaps are led in scoring by Lucas Cavallini with 8 goals on the season.

Colorado has one of the worst road records in the MLS season at just 1-7-3. Coming off a 1-1 home draw against the Columbus Crew last weekend, Colorado will play 4 of its next 5 games on the road.

The Rapids are led by star F Diego Rubio, who has 12 goals on the season. Former USMNT F Gyasi Zardes ranks 2nd on the Rapids with 6 goals.

Prediction

Vancouver Whitecaps 2, Colorado Rapids 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN VANCOUVER WHITECAPS (+145).

The Rapids have been too poor on the road this season. They’ve had fewer expected goals in 4 of their last 5 road games, and in 3 of those 5, they’ve had more than 1 fewer expected goals.

Colorado just hasn’t put it together consistently outside of DSG Park, and I’d bet their struggles continue.

On the other hand, Vancouver may not be an elite side, but it does have impressive home wins, especially over LAFC, and has consistently been better than its opponent at its home in Canada.

The Whitecaps have as many wins as losses and draws, so at plus-money odds, this seems like a good value play.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-150).

This is probably closer to lean due to the -150 value, but this is a strong play. The Rapids don’t have nearly as strong of a defense as they did last season and recently put 5 on the Red Bulls on the road.

Colorado’s issues this season while playing on the road have been mainly defensive, not offensive. It has been shut out just 3 times and has topped this total in all but 3 road matches.

The Rapids have hit it in 4 straight away from DSG as well.

Vancouver has gone over this in 3 straight at home and has topped in it in 7 of 12 home matches. The Whitecaps have the 2nd-worst goal differential in the West, and it’s due to a lacking defense, having given up 44 goals in 25 matches.

Considering all that, Over 2.5 (-150) feels like a great value play despite it being on the richer side.

FC Cincinnati vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s FC Cincinnati vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati (7 wins, 7 losses, 5 draws) welcomes the Vancouver Whitecaps (7-9-3) to TQL Stadium Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the FC Cincinnati vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati’s last match against the New York Red Bulls resulted in a 1-1 draw, but having received 2 red cards while giving up a penalty as the Red Bulls’ lone goal, 1 point seemed like a positive result. FCC played well against the East’s top seed.

FCC has drawn 4 of its last 5, including 3 matches against 3 of the East’s top-4 teams. Cincinnati is led by F Brandon Vazquez with a team-high 9 goals. M Luciano Acosta, the MLS Player of the Month for June, has 6 goals and 6 assists.

As for the Vancouver Whitecaps, after losing 5 of 6 earlier in the season, they’ve improved the last several weeks. Vancouver has won 4 of its last 7 matches, 2 of which were on the road.

This will be its 1st road game after a 3-match homestand in which it went 1-1-1. Vancouver is led by 29-year-old Canadian F Lucas Cavallini with 6 goals, the only Whitecaps player with more than 2.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 3, Vancouver Whitecaps 1

Money line (ML)

BET FC CINCINNATI -135.

Vancouver has been one of the worst road teams in the MLS. It has lost 3 of its last 5 on the road by more than 1 goal, including a 4-0 in its more recent away battle with Seattle.

On top of that, Vancouver doesn’t have many weapons, unlike Cincinnati which has star Brazilian F Brenner having come on strong along with Vazquez.

FCC has won 2 of its last 5 at home with 2 draws coming against 2 of the top 3 teams in the East.

They’ve only lost or drawn 2 games at home against a team outside of playoff position, and in both, they had as many or more expected goals. Considering both teams’ form as of late, I’d bet on FCC to come out on top.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-145).

There’s really no denying that the over is the better side in this match, but at this value, I’d consider it just a lean.

While Vancouver has allowed 31 goals on the season, it has scored just 20 goals in 19 matches. That said, its last 6 road games have gone over this total with 2 of their last 3 totaling 4 goals.

FCC has gone over this in 5 of their last 8 and went 3.5 goals in 4 of those 8. For the value, betting Over 3.5 +170 also has good value and could be worth a small play.

Both teams are in the bottom half of the league in shots against, so there could be a plethora of goals to be had on Wednesday evening.

Columbus Crew vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. Vancouver Whitecaps odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

In an MLS opener, the Columbus Crew welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to Lower.com Field Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we preview the Columbus vs. Vancouver odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

After having 2 club friendlies canceled – against Louisville City and Inter – the Crew will finally take the pitch to commence their regular season.

Columbus finished ninth in the Eastern Conference last season with a 13-13-8 (W-L-draw) record. The Crew were 10-4-3 at home. 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán is still with Columbus and should be a major factor.

The Whitecaps were just 12-9-13 last season, finishing sixth in the Western Conference. They didn’t make much noise in the playoffs, losing to Sporting KC 3-1 in the first round.

They will be returning their leading scorers in F Brian White, who had 12 goals a season ago, and F Cristian Dájome, who finished with 10 goals.

Columbus vs. Vancouver: Odds, picks and predictions

Prediction

Columbus 2, Vancouver 1

Money line (ML)

BET COLUMBUS (-140).

The Crew were almost unstoppable at home last season with most of their struggles coming on the road. Similarly, the Whitecaps won just two games in 17 away matches last year.

For the Crew, Zelarayán is one of the best attacking midfielders in the league, and he should continue his dominant MLS career Saturday. They’ll also have F Gyasi Zardes, who played some with the USMNT in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying this past winter.

While the Crew didn’t put it together a year ago, they have the talent to get back to the MLS Cup-contending level they’ve been the last few seasons.

I’d bet on the CREW (-140) making a good first impression Saturday.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the OVER 2.5 (-110).

The Crew averaged 1.35 goals per game and allowed 1.32 goals per game last season, while the Whitecaps averaged 1.32 goals and yielded 1.32 goals. With both teams topping 2.6 combined goals per game, betting Over 2.5 is a good value.

As mentioned, Vancouver returns its two-leading, goal-scoring threats, making the ‘Caps just as lethal as a year ago. Expect them to get on the board in this one.

Vancouver Whitecaps at San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Vancouver Whitecaps at San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Vancouver Whitecaps (3 wins, 7 losses, 7 draws) visit the San Jose Earthquakes (5-7-6) at PayPal Park Friday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Vancouver Whitecaps vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

San Jose hasn’t been great at home this season, recording just three wins through eight matches; however, Vancouver has been even worse on the road where it has yet to win.

For the Earthquakes, their struggles have been on their backline, having allowed 27 goals across 18 matches. In a change of pace, they are unbeaten in their last seven games, so they’ll be the ones coming in with the momentum.

As for Vancouver, it’ll be traveling south from its temporary Utah home. The Whitecaps are unbeaten in their last five outings and have drawn four straight matches.

Prediction

San Jose Earthquakes 1, Vancouver Whitecaps 1

Money line (ML)

BET the DRAW (+280) as the best value on the money line. Both teams have played to an abundance of draws over their last six or seven matches.

Vancouver drew five of its last seven games and has more draws than losses on the road. San Jose, having beaten the Seattle Sounders and LAFC recently, played to a 1-1 draw with the Houston Dynamo as well. The Earthquakes drew four of their last six games.

With just five points and an extra game to San Jose splitting the two in the standing, the level of talent is relatively the same. Bet on the Draw for one unit as both teams have played to the level of their opponent lately.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 2.5 (-105) as the better value on the total. Scoring has been a problem for both sides but so has defending.

Vancouver has 19 goals yet has given up 28 through 17 matches. San Jose is a similar story, scoring 21 and giving up 27. Vancouver hit the Under in just two of its last four games.

San Jose played to the Under 2.5 in four of its last six matches. All four ended in a 1-1 draw. With the home team looking to be the possession-dominant side, expect this one to finish 1-1.

Previewing Friday’s Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Real Salt Lake odds and lines, with MLS betting picks, tips and best bets.

In both teams’ first game after the international break, Real Salt Lake (2 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws) will host the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (2-4-1) Friday. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET at Rio Tinto Stadium. Below, we preview the Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Real Salt Lake odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

While the international break was long for some teams it was especially long for the Whitecaps, who will be playing their first game since May 22. Vancouver has lost all confidence offensively, scoring just once during a three-game losing streak.

The opposite can be said of Real Salt Lake who is averaging a goal per game in their last three.

Against weaker competition they’ve managed three straight draws, picking up ties against the bottom two teams in the Western Conference their last two times out. This is a game they need to come out and get three points in.

Prediction

Real Salt Lake 1, Vancouver Whitecaps FC 1

Money line (ML)

PASS on the money because neither of these teams has shown enough to be confident in.

Real Salt Lake is at home, and they’re the favorite. But, they’ve tied two straight games against the worst teams in the West and are averaging more points per game on the road than at home.

They will have the more dangerous attacker on the field with F Rubio Rubín, whose four goals are currently tied for the fifth-most in the league. However, Whitecaps F Cristian Dájome is just one behind him, so the one-man offense may be in full effect for each squad as the duo accounts for 7 of 15 of the team’s combined goals this season.

With more ties than wins at home for RSL, I think that while we see a little action from both sides neither will pull away. At the current values, this is a PASS on the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 2.5 (-120) because neither of the teams is the most lethal offensively, and this could be a slow, grind-it-out type game. With both teams potentially being rusty after over two weeks of the international break this could easily end 0-0 or 1-0.

Vancouver has been shut out in 3 of their last 5 games. Knowing that, the Under 2.5 has a solid value. Vancouver ranks 11th while RSL ranks 12th in save percentage as well, so the goalies have been above average so far this season.

RSL does have 3 multi-goal games on the year, so their offensive could come alive. However, coming off a break and taking on a team that ranks in the top-five in duel percentage, I’d stack the odds against them putting two in the net.
