CF Montreal vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s CF Montreal vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

CF Montreal (16 wins, 9 losses, 4 draws) welcomes the Columbus Crew (9-6-13) to Saputo Stadium Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we preview the CF Montreal vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Columbus enters this match in 6th place in the Eastern Conference, but could drop out of playoff position with a loss and wins by New England and Cincinnati. The Crew are 0-2-1 against top-4 East sides on the road this season.

Columbus is coming off a 0-0 draw with the Chicago Fire and has drawn 4 of its last 5 matches. The Crew are led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 8 goals and 5 goals. Newcomer F Cucho has 8 goals in 11 appearances.

As for Montreal, it has been better on the road this season, posting a 7-5-2 record at home and an impressive 9-4-2 record on the road. Montreal is averaging 1.83 goals per game while allowing 1.55.

Despite allowing the most goals of any team in playoff position, CF Montreal does sit in a comfortable 2nd place. They’re led by 31-year-old star F Romell Quioto with 15 goals this season.

Prediction

CF Montreal 2, Columbus Crew 2

Money line (ML)

BET TIE OR COLUMBUS CREW (-120).

Instead of banking on a tie, which Columbus has been doing at a high rate this season, back the Crew here to either end this game with as many goals or more.

Columbus has lost just once since May 21, and between now and then, they have played teams like Philadelphia, Real Salt Lake, Toronto and NYCFC. Its lone loss was to Montreal, having 1 fewer shot.

Similarly, Montreal has strangely struggled at home, and while it has lost just once in August, it was at Saputo Stadium, where it 1-1-1 in its last 3 matches. Also Columbus should have more to play for in this battle.

Check out Pro Soccer Wire: For the American soccer fan, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s website provides a fresh look at the beautiful game.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-125).

Montreal has a terrific offense and a struggling defense. CF Montreal is one of the more high-paced sides in the MLS, scoring the 2nd-most goals (53) in the East.

They sit 2nd to Philadelphia, which is the top scoring team (63 goals) in the conference. However, the Union have only allowed 21 goals in 30 matches while Montreal has allowed 45 in 29 games.

Columbus, while it was a strong Under play earlier in the season, has gone Over this total in 6 of its last 11. In its Aug. 3 loss to Montreal it topped this total.

Expect at least 3 goals netted in this match.

Columbus Crew vs. Atlanta United FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Columbus Crew vs. Atlanta United FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (8 wins, 6 losses, 10 draws) welcome Atlanta United FC (7-10-8) to Lower.com Field Sunday. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. Atlanta United FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew have made a strong playoff push over the last several months, having lost just once since May 21. They’ve gone 4-1-4 in their last 9 games with 4 of their last 5 matches at home (2-1-1).

Columbus is led by star M Lucas Zelarayán with 8 goals and F Cucho with 6 goals.

Atlanta, on the other hand, is soundly out of playoff position but did show some life against FC Cincinnati. It has lost and drawn its last 2 games despite having more expected goals.

United is led by 25-year-old Mexican F Ronaldo Cisneros with a team-high 7 goals. Former Golden Boot winner F Josef Martínez has just 6 goals on the season, having started just 12 matches.

Prediction

Columbus Crew 2, Atlanta United 0

Money line (ML)

BET COLUMBUS CREW (-112).

At home, the Crew should be able to get the job done. Atlanta has not been impressive this season, and that’s been even more true when it has been on the road.

Atlanta United is just 1-7-4 on the road. The Crew are 5-4-3 at home this season and are 2-0-1 at home against teams not in the playoff picture in the East.

They should be able to come out on top in this match considering how they’ve played against lower-tier opponents and how poor Atlanta has been on the road this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+115).

Columbus has gone under this total in 7 of its 12 home games this season. Similarly, United has gone under this total in 3 of their last 6 matches.

Atlanta ranks 8th in the East in scoring while Columbus is tied for 10th, so there aren’t many goals scored between the 2 sides. Columbus plays a slow-paced game, averaging just 1.28 goals per game.

Also, the Crew have the lowest shooting percentage in the MLS, so they don’t often get shots on target even when shots are plentiful. Columbus hasn’t improved at home, having been shut out in 5 of 12 matches.

Considering it all, I lean to the Under 2.5 (+115).

Colorado Rapids vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Rapids vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (8 wins, 9 losses, 6 draws) welcome the Columbus Crew (8-6-9) to DSG Park Saturday. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Colorado Rapids vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Rapids are coming into this match having won 3 of their last 4 and 2 straight at home. Colorado is led in the attack by F Diego Rubio, who has 11 goals on the season.

The Rapids have been virtually unbeatable at home this season, winning 7 of 12. It has been a different story on the road as they have just 1 win in 11 matches.

The Crew, on the other hand, have surged into playoff position following a weak start. Columbus has surged into 6th place in the Eastern Conference. It has won 3 of its last 6 and is 3-1-2 over that span.

The Crew have beaten a Western Conference team just once this season, their first match of 2022 against Vancouver. Columbus is led by a defense that is giving up just 1.08 goals per game.

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 2, Columbus Crew 1

Money line (ML)

BET COLORADO RAPIDS (-107).

The Crew have not beaten or even drawn a top-10 team in the West, losing to LAFC and Nashville while drawing San Jose and Sporting KC and beating Vancouver.

On the road, they also haven’t been great, posting just a 3-2-6 record, so they have been able to play to the level of their opponent.

As for Colorado, it has been surging lately, scoring 9 goals in its last 2 matches, both against elite defensive sides (New York Red Bulls and Minnesota United).

The Rapids have the talent and have consistently taken down opponents at their home field this season. I expect that success to continue into the back half of the season.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-145).

As noted, Colorado has been among the best-attacking sides in the league over its last few games. It has only been shut out 4 times this season and has scored multiple goals in 5 of its last 7.

While the Crew have typically been a lesser-scoring side, they have been cooking offensively lately, scoring multiple goals in 4 of their last 6.

Both teams continued success and skill in both the midfield and final third make this a good bet, but at the value it has, I would only lean to the OVER 2.5 (-145) here.

Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (7 wins, 6 losses, 9 draws) welcome New York City FC (12-4-6) to Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. New York City FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew lost their midweek match at home against CF Montreal. After leading 1-0 heading into the last 20 minutes, a weather delay paused the game and Montreal came out on fire, scoring 2 in the last 10 minutes.

Columbus dropped to 6th on the table and is just 4-4-3 at home. It is still led by star M Lucas Zelarayán who scored their lone one on Wednesday and now has 6 goals on the season.

NYCFC comes in a bit more rested, drawing CF Montreal on the road last Saturday. NYCFC sits 2nd in the Eastern Conference and has given up the 2nd-fewest goals in the MLS.

They will have to overcome the loss of 23-year-old F Valentín Castellanos (13 goals), who announced he would be leaving MLS to join Girona in La Liga. NYCFC has lost just once since April 2 and is 4-1-4 in their last 9.

Prediction

New York City FC 1, Columbus Crew 0

Money line (ML)

BET NEW YORK CITY FC (+180).

The Crew are coming off a brutal loss on Wednesday while NYCFC should be rested, so there’s a slight advantage to the road side there. D Jonathan Mensah played all 90 minutes while Zelarayán played 72.

As for NYCFC, they have been dominant as of late, pitching 4 straight shutouts and leading the league in clean sheets. They have won 2 of their last 3 road matches, drawing Montreal on the road last weekend despite not playing their star striker.

Columbus lost to NYCFC 2-0 earlier in the season and is just 0-4-2 against top-5 teams in the East. It could show resilience behind a home crowd, but the value is in playing NYCFC +175 here.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN UNDER 2.5 (+100).

NYCFC has one of the best goalkeepers in the MLS in Sean Johnson. He is a stud which is why NYCFC sits 2nd in the MLS in save percentage.

Their defense is also among the best without even factoring in Johnson. They have the 4th-fewest shots against them this season. Columbus sits with the 7th-fewest goals, also possesses a terrific backline.

NYCFC has gone under this total in 4 straight games and in 3 straight road matches. The Crew have gone under this total in 12 of 21 matches this season and in 7 of 11 home matches.

Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (7 wins, 5 losses, 8 draws) host the New England Revolution (6-7-7) at Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew are coming into this game off a win over their rival FC Cincinnati. Columbus won 2-0 and remain at home for a 2nd straight game. The Crew are 4-0-4 over their last 8 games, their last loss coming May 21.

Columbus is led in scoring by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán and F Derrick Etienne who are tied for a team-high 5 goals. Both also have 5 assists on the season.

The Revolution finished atop the Eastern Conference last season but have struggled in 2022. New England has lost 2 straight outings against top East foes, Philadelphia and NYCFC. The Revolution hadn’t lost since April 23 prior to those losses, however.

The Revs are led by stars F Gustavo Bou and F Adam Buksa who are tied for a team-high 7 goals, while M Carles Gil leads the team in goals plus assists with 10. New England is just 2-5-3 on the road.

Prediction

Columbus Crew 1, New England Revolution 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW (+255).

This is a strong bet given the value. Both teams have been draw-heavy sides so far this season, and this has all the makings of a high-level matchup between conference foes.

Columbus has drawn 4 of its last 7 matches overall and has drawn 2 of its last 3 home matches as well. The Revolution have drawn 3 of their last 6 contests and 6 of their last 11 games overall.

These two sides rank 2nd and 3rd in draws in the East respectively. Both teams have under a 6-goal goal differential, so they also haven’t been winning or losing by large margins.

Expect a close battle and play the draw in this one.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+110).

These two teams drew 2-2 earlier in the season with 3 of the 4 goals coming within the last 20 minutes. For the bulk of the game, the defenses held strong. There were 4 goals and 5 shots on target.

The Crew have typically been a slow-paced team, scoring 27 goals and allowing 22 through 20 matches. They’re 11-9 O/U on a 2.5 goal total.

Columbus has also allowed the 9th-fewest shots on goal which should help to limit a lethal New England attack. Both teams also rank in the top half of the league in passing accuracy, so don’t expect many errors.

Considering Columbus’ strengths and how the last match between these sides was played, I’ll take the Under 2.5 (+115).

Columbus Crew vs. Charlotte FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. Charlotte FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (4 wins, 5 losses, 4 draws) welcome Charlotte FC (6-8-1) to Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. Charlotte FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

Charlotte kicked off June action with an impressive 2-0 home victory over the New York Red Bulls, a nationally televised game. They scored both goals in extra time.

In their first year, Charlotte sits 7th on the table. While in playoff position, they’ve scored 15 goals and allowed 18 for a -3 goal differential. They’re led by F Karol Świderski, who has 4 goals on the season.

As for the Crew, they’ve been relatively disappointing. However, they do have more points per game than Charlotte with a positive goal differential, having scored 17 and allowed 16.

Columbus is led by M Lucas Zelarayán, who has 4 goals on the season. The 2021 All-Star midfielder is among the best in the league. The Crew are 3-3-0 at home this season.

Check out Pro Soccer Wire: For the American soccer fan, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s website provides a fresh look at the beautiful game.

Columbus Crew vs. Charlotte FC odds, lines, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 9 a.m. ET.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -112 | U: -108)

[tipico]

Prediction

Columbus 2, Charlotte 1

Money line (ML)

BET COLUMBUS -116.

Against Eastern Conference teams with a negative goal differential, the Crew are 3-1-1.

They’re 2-1-0 in those same games which are played at Lower.com Field, taking down Toronto and DC while losing to Orlando, which sits fifth in the conference.

Also, Charlotte just hasn’t been great on the road, which can be a trend with newly formed teams. Charlotte is 0-6-1 on the road and 6-2-0 at home. Those figures are startling.

With the pace and skillset of Zelarayán coupled with how the home side has played against low-tier competition, Columbus should control this match and win outright.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-112).

Five of Charlotte’s 7 home games have been over this total and 4 of the 7 have resulted in a 2-1 win for their opponent. Their last 2 road matches ended with a 2-1 loss.

For the Crew, they’ve played 6 home games and have had 3 of them hit this over.

While Charlotte does sit 7th, it isn’t in the playoff picture in terms of points per game. The Crew for 3-0 O/U this total against non-playoff Eastern Conference teams.

Both teams also rank in the top half of the league in shots, which proves the opportunities should be there.

New York City FC vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New York City FC vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

New York City FC (4 wins, 3 losses, 2 draws) welcomes the Columbus Crew (3-3-4) to Yankee Stadium for 7 p.m. ET kickoff Saturday. Below, we preview the New York City FC vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

New York City FC, who took home the MLS Cup last season, have not gotten out to as strong as a start as they hoped for, sitting 6th on the Eastern Conference table.

NYCFC is led in scoring by 23-year-old F Valentín Castellanos. While they’ve scored 3 or more goals 4 times, they’ve also been held scoreless 4 times.

As for the Crew, they’ve also been relatively disappointing, sitting 9th on the East table.

Columbus is led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán. The Crew have not been playing well as of late, winning just 1 of their last 7 after notching 3 points in 2 of their first 3.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -130 | U: +105)

[tipico]

Prediction

NYCFC 1, Columbus 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW +295.

It’s certainly just a lean, but the value on a draw is there.

After all, the Crew, whether it be playing up to the likes of the Red Bulls and Sporting KC or playing down to the likes ofSan Jose, have been drawing machines on the road.

They’ve drawn 4 of their 5 road games, and with NYCFC having scored 18 goals in 4 games and then just 1 in the other 5, their inconsistency helps add to this value. Both teams are coming off a draw as well.

With Zelarayán ranking fifth in the MLS in successful dribbles, he should be able to control the pace. Considering the value and how Columbus has played on the road, I’ll take the draw for a small unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the UNDER 2.5 (+105).

I don’t have a super-strong, full-unit play in this game, but I do like the Under. Again, it’s mainly due to the inconsistency both teams have shown this season.

NYCFC has been shut out in 4 games while Columbus had a stretch of 4 games itself where it didn’t tally a goal. Both teams also rank in the top half of the MLS in goals against.

NYCFC drew Sporting KC 0-0 their last time on the pitch while Columbus would’ve hit this under in 5 of its last 7. Generally speaking, it’s still a risky play, so I’d only lay about half a unit here.

Columbus Crew vs. DC United odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. DC United odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (2 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws) welcome DC United (3-4-0) to Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus vs. DC United odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew started out the season hot and have quickly dropped in the standings, sitting tied for 11th with 9 points. They’re tied with DC United. The Crew have lost of their last 4 and haven’t won since March 12.

It’s not just the Crew’s inability to win, but their inability to score. They haven’t scored in 4 games after starting the season with a 4-0 home win. Columbus is 2-2-0 at home.

As for United, it has played in 2 straight thrillers, losing 3-2 to Austin FC and then winning 3-2 to the New England Revolution. United has lost 4 of its last 5 after winning its first 2.

F Ola Kamara leads the club in scoring with 4 goals. F Michael Estrada has 3, and they’re 2 of the mere 4 players that have netted a goal this season for United.

[tipico]

Prediction

Columbus 1, DC United 1

Money line (ML)

PASS.

There’s no reason to love the form either team is coming in with. Both teams haven’t had much success as of late, and the odds don’t bring much value for betting either way.

If anything, I’d play a draw. The Crew’s inability to score is a bit more concerning than United losing high-paced games.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 2.5 (-103).

The Crew traded one of their most prolific scorers, F Gyasi Zardes. He had the second-most expected goals on the season despite having netted just 1. His loss has stung.

Columbus’ struggles are notable. It’s not that it isn’t getting shots, but it just isn’t getting even close to goal with them. Columbus ranks No. 1 in shots in the entire league yet has the second-lowest shot percentage.

The opposite can be said of United who has the third-fewest shots on target. The opportunities haven’t necessarily been there. It has allowed just 10 goals this season, though.

As for the Crew, it has allowed 9 and would have had the Under 2.5 hit in 5 straight. This is the best play in this game, especially for the value being given.

New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New York Red Bulls vs. Columbus Crew odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The New York Red Bulls (2 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws) welcome the Columbus Crew (2-0-1) to Red Bull Arena Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the New York vs. Columbus odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Red Bulls currently sit in a three-way tie for 6th place on the Eastern Conference table with 6 points. They have netted 7 goals and allowed just 3, the fourth-fewest goals allowed in the East.

The Red Bulls are 0-1-0 at home and were 8-3-6 at home a season ago — far better than their 5-9-3 road record in 2021. New York M Lewis Morgan is tied for the third-most goals in the MLS with 3 tallies.

The Crew have also started the season off strong. However, their only non-win was an inexcusable draw in which they allowed San Jose to score 2 goals in the final 15 minutes of play despite being a man down.

That draw came in Columbus’ only road game to date. It is led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán, who is tied for the most goals in the MLS with 4 markers.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[tipico]

Prediction

New York 2, Columbus 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN to NEW YORK (-113).

The Red Bulls are coming into this one following a difficult 1-0 home loss to Minnesota United FC last weekend despite having 14 more total shots and 6 more shots on goal.

The Red Bulls outplayed United, but the scoreline didn’t reflect that.

New York ranks second in shooting percentage and second in assists. It’s a team continually learning to play with each other, and it should help propel its success at home.

The Crew struggled in their one road match.

They may once again struggle in New York considering they gave up 3 goals to a weak San Jose team. Columbus is giving up 1.3 goals per game which isn’t quite at the Red Bulls 1.0 opponents’ goals per game level.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the OVER 2.5 (-105).

The Crew have gone over 2.5 goals in every game this season while New York has combined for 4 and 5 goals in two of its three games this season.

Columbus has one of the best midfielders in the MLS as well which should help them control the pace.

The Red Bulls have also pushed the pace this season and even had 18 shots in their sole game which they didn’t net at least 3 goals. Both teams rank in the top four in shots on target as well.

Two elite attacking sides should be able to net 3 or more goals. This will be the best bet in this afternoon battle.

Columbus Crew vs. Toronto FC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Columbus Crew vs. Toronto FC odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Columbus Crew (1 win, 0 losses, 1 draw) welcome Toronto FC (0-1-1) to Lower.com Field Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Columbus Crew vs. Toronto FC odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew return home following a thrilling 3-3 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes (March 5). Leading 3-1 with 80 minutes passed and up a man, the Crew let San Jose score twice in the final 10 minutes, including a 96th-minute penalty kick to tie the game. It had to be a demoralizing defeat.

The Crew won their first game 4-0 against Vancouver. 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayán is the only Crew player with multiple goals on the season, having tallied 3 through two games.

Toronto FC has scored 2 goals and given up 5. It drew FC Dallas 1-1 to kick the season off but was destroyed 4-1 by the New York Red Bulls March 5.

Only F Jonathan Osorio and F Jesús Jiménez have scored for Toronto FC, the 10th-place team in the Eastern Conference.

Columbus Crew vs. Toronto FC: Odds, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:05 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Columbus Crew -160 (bet $160 to win $100) | Toronto FC +430 (bet $100 to win $430) | Draw +300
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -140 | U: +115)

[tipico]

Prediction

Columbus Crew 3, Toronto FC 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN to COLUMBUS CREW (-160).

The value here isn’t terrific, but at -160, I like the Crew to win outright. The Crew are undefeated at home, just 1-0-0. Despite not having a great season a year ago, they still defended their home field well, winning 10 of 17.

The Crew have allowed just 3 goals this season. Toronto has struggled so far with its only draw coming against the 10th-place team in the Western Conference.

Through two games, Toronto has just 14 shots and 6 on target, equating to an average of 3 on target per game. The Crew have 41 shots and 13 on target. They’ve been the more aggressive and impressive team so far.

The -160 price isn’t great value on the money line, but the Crew should come out on top at home.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-140).

It’s a tad riskier, but one can get an alternate line of Over 3.5 (+170). Three of the two teams’ combined four games have gone Over 3.5 goals with two games going Over 4.5 goals.

The only one to not hit the mark was Toronto’s season-opening 1-1 draw with FC Dallas. Even that game had 2 first-half goals and 19 shots, but it stalled in the second half.

The Crew have 7 goals and 4 assists. They’re tied with LAFC and Atlanta for the third-most assists in the MLS.

Considering how both teams have played and the defensive aptitude shown in their performances, betting on more goals seems to be the smart play.
