LAFC vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s LAFC vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

LAFC (9 wins, 6 losses, 5 draws) welcomes the San Jose Earthquakes (7-7-7) to BMO Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the LAFC vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

LAFC comes into this game following a 2-1 road loss to the LA Galaxy. It has lost 3 straight games, including a 2-0 loss to FC Dallas on the road and 3-2 loss to Vancouver at home. LAFC is a strong 6-2-2 at home. It is led by F Denis Bouanga, who has 11 goals in 18 matches (16 starts). LAFC has averaged 1.45 goals per game and allowed 1.15 per game so far this season.

San Jose drew the LA Galaxy 2-2 last weekend. Before that, it lost 2-1 to St. Louis and 4-1 to Houston. It hasn’t won a game since June 10, a 2-1 home win over the Philadelphia Union. The Earthquakes are led by F Cristian Espinoza, who has 9 goals in 21 starts. They are just 1-6-3 on the road this season and sit 6th in the Western Conference.

LAFC vs. San Jose Earthquakes picks and predictions

Prediction

LAFC 3, San Jose 1

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Neither team has necessarily been performing well as of late, and how LAFC has played at home and San Jose on the road, the odds here are justified. However, taking LAFC (-225) has no value as the price isn’t worth the risk.

Given its struggles as of late, considering the DRAW (+375) as a way to capitalize on LAFC’s struggles mixed with San Jose’s ability to play up to its opponent’s level (having drawn 2 of its last 4) would make sense.

Nonetheless, I would PASS here and play the total.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+115).

LAFC has thrived on the back of a competent defense, but that has gone by the wayside. It has allowed 2 or more goals in 3 straight games. Its offense has also started to surge, scoring in 4 of its last 5 and scoring multiple goals in 2 of those 5. LAFC has had at least 1.0 expected goals in 5 straight games and has allowed at least 1.0 expected goals in 4 of its last 5.

San Jose has struggled offensively this season, but it has scored in 3 straight games and has scored in all but 4 games this season. The Earthquakes have also given up 8 goals in their last 3 games, having allowed at least 1.5 expected goals in 6 of their last 7.

Many signs point to goals being scored. Back the OVER 3.5 (+115).

The San Jose Earthquakes (7 wins, 6 losses, 6 draws) welcome St. Louis City SC (9-7-2) to PayPal Park Saturday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. San Jose has been unstoppable at home this season (6-0-3 on the year), having all but 1 of its wins at PayPal Park. It is coming off a 4-1 road loss to the Houston Dynamo Wednesday.

The Earthquakes are led by F Cristian Espinoza, who has 8 goals in 19 matches, and F Jeremy Ebobisse (7 goals), who is their lone other player with more than 2 shots netted on the season.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. St. Louis City SC picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose Earthquakes 2, St. Louis City 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (+115).

The Earthquakes have been terrific at home, and they have taken down some top sides as well, beating Houston, LAFC and the Philadelphia Union at PayPal Park.

San Jose has a dynamic duo of forwards as well that should break through what’s been a soft St. Louis defense. St. Louis has struggled lately and will be on the road, where it hasn’t performed well this season.

St. Louis has lost 3 straight on the road and 4 of its last 5 road matches. That said, take SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (+115).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (-160).

St. Louis has gone Over in 5 of 8 road matches this season and has allowed 3 goals per game throughout its last 2.

San Jose has gone Over in 5 of 9 home matches and has had more than 1 expected goal in all but 2 matches. It has also allowed more than 1 expected goal in 5 of 9 home matches.

There should be ample opportunity in this game. Take OVER 2.5 (-160).

San Jose Earthquakes vs. FC Dallas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s San Jose Earthquakes vs. FC Dallas odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Jose Earthquakes (5 wins, 5 losses, 3 draws) welcome FC Dallas (6-3-4) to PayPal Park Saturday. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the San Jose Earthquakes vs. FC Dallas odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

The Earthquakes are a strong 5-0-1 at home this season. They have scored 17 goals and allowed 18 through 13 matches. San Jose is led by Argentinian F Cristian Espinoza, who has 8 goals in 13 starts. F Jeremy Ebobisse is the only other player to score multiple goals (5). San Jose has lost 3 of its last 5 matches.

FC Dallas, on the other hand, is 2-2-2 on the road. It has scored 16 goals and allowed 13, tied for the 3rd-fewest conceded goals in the Western Conference. FC Dallas is led in the attack by USMNT F Jesus Ferreira, who has 8 goals in 12 starts. It has won 4 of its last 7 matches.

San Jose Earthquakes vs. FC Dallas picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose 2, FC Dallas 1

Moneyline (ML)

LEAN SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (-105).

San Jose has been unstoppable at home, and it has taken down quality opponents. The Earthquakes have beaten LAFC and Houston at home. Despite recent struggles, it has had double its opponents’ expected goals in 4 of 6 matches.

FC Dallas has had fewer than 1 expected goal in 3 of 6 road matches. It has performed to par on the road but certainly hasn’t exceeded expectations.

Simply put, San Jose has dominated at home, and at this value, it is worth a play. Take SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-120).

San Jose has gone Over this total in 4 of 6 home games. It has scored multiple goals in 4 of 6 as well and has conceded in 3 of 6. Three of its 6 home matches this season have ended 2-1.

FC Dallas has scored in all but 1 road match as well and has allowed 2 or more expected goals twice. Take the OVER 2.5 (-120).

Colorado Rapids at San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Rapids at San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with expert MLS picks, predictions and best bets.

In Saturday’s MLS action, the Colorado Rapids (0 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw) visit the San Jose Earthquakes (1-1-0) at PayPal Park at 10:30 p.m. ET (Apple TV+). Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Rapids vs. Earthquakes odds, and make our best expert MLS picks and predictions.

Colorado played to a scoreless draw last weekend against Sporting Kansas City, which was a much better defensive effort than the 4-0 setback in Seattle to open. The Rapids continue to be without Aboubacar Keita (knee), Dantouma Toure (knee) and Diego Rubio (knee). Marko Ilic (finger) is also dealing with an injury, but he could play.

San Jose defended its home turf with a 2-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend, bouncing back from a stunning late 2-1 setback against Atlanta United in the opener.

Colorado Rapids at San Jose Earthquakes picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose Earthquakes 1, Colorado Rapids 0

Moneyline (ML)

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES (-104) is a strong play. The Colorado Rapids’ (+275) offensive attack has been rather toothless, getting blanked in each of their first 2 matches.

San Jose won the most recent meeting between these teams at PayPal Park last May, winning 1-0. The Quakes are unbeaten in 10 of the past 11 home matches against the Rapids, too. Expect a similar low-scoring result in this battle in the Bay Area.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 2.5 (+120) appears to be too good to be true at plus-money. Take advantage.

We’ve seen 2 or fewer goals in 3 of the past 4 head-to-head meetings in this series. San Jose has seen Under 2.5 goals in 11 of the past 12 home matches against Colorado across all competitions, too.

Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (9 wins, 12 losses, 9 draws) welcome the San Jose Earthquakes (7-13-9) to DSG Park Wednesday. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Rapids enter this match with slim, but possible, postseason hopes. They did get 3 points in their last match, beating the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.

Colorado is led by F Diego Rubio who is the team’s only player with double-digit goals (13 and 5 assists). Having finished atop the conference last season, the Rapids strength, their defense, is their weakness now, having allowed 1.7 goals per game this season.

As for San Jose, it just lost 6-0 to FC Cincinnati. While that was on the road, that result was inexcusable, and staying on the road, the confidence for the Earthquakes is likely at an all-time low.

The Earthquakes are led in scoring by F Jeremy Ebobisse, who has 15 goals on the season. San Jose has lost 3 of its last 5 matches, but does have recent wins over Vancouver and LAFC. It is just 1-10-4 on the road this season.

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 3, San Jose Earthquakes 2

Money line (ML)

PASS.

Colorado should come out on top. It is 8-2-5 at home this season, and while San Jose has struggled immensely on the road, the value just doesn’t feel here at -190.

There’s too much risk, especially with San Jose coming off a 6-0 loss. It only gave up 8 shots on goal, so it was more about FCC taking advantage of their chances than the atrocious San Jose defense.

Back Colorado on the total as this should be a high-scoring battle.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+125).

San Jose had 9 shots and 5 on target against FC Cincinnati. It arguably should have had multiple goals as well ,but ended up being embarrassed, something Colorado knows quite a bit of.

The Rapids have allowed 11 goals in their last 4 matches, 2 of those games combining for 10 of those goals. Colorado is a fast-paced side, averaging 1.37 goals per game.

The larger point is that this will be 2 of the worst defenses in the MLS taking the field with the Rapids allowing 1.7 goals per game on San Jose allowing a league-worst 2.1 per game.

Both teams sit in the bottom-8 clubs in shots against, so the offenses should get enough chances.

With 2 top-tier strikers and a home side that should be looking to earn 3 points, back the OVER 3.5 (+125) as goals should be in bunches on Wednesday evening.

FC Cincinnati vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s FC Cincinnati vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati (9 wins, 8 losses, 12 draws) hosts the San Jose Earthquakes (7-12-9) at TQL Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the FC Cincinnati vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

FC Cincinnati is coming into this match in desperate need of a win, sitting in the final playoff spot (7th place) by 1 point. They’re coming off a midweek 1-1 draw against New York City FC.

At home, FCC is 5-4-6 at home this season. The home side is led by star F Brandon Vazquez, who has 16 goals and 4 assists. FCC has scored the 4th-most goals in the East this season.

As for San Jose, it sits 13th in the West. The Earthquakes are 12 points out of playoff position, so their hopes of postseason soccer are virtually over. However, San Jose has won 2 of its last 3. It has also lost 3 of its last 6.

What San Jose hasn’t done much of is draw, having tied in just 2 of its last 10. It is led by 25-year-old American F Jeremy Ebobisse, who has 15 goals on the season.

Prediction

FC Cincinnati 2, San Jose Earthquakes 2

Money line (ML)

SPRINKLE ON DRAW (+380).

I don’t even want to upgrade this to a full lean or bet play. I would toss maybe a quarter-unit on it because the value simply is undeniable.

FCC has continuously played to the level of its competition. It should win, but you could say that against Atlanta, Vancouver and Miami, all games that have recently ended in a draw for the home side.

FCC has drawn 10 of its last 13. While San Jose hasn’t tied much lately, it’s worth a fraction of a unit to lean to the result that is the overwhelming majority of the home side’s recent matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+105).

Again, I’m not sure this is a full-unit bet, but the value is undeniable.

San Jose has given up multiple goals in 6 of its last 7 road matches. In 3 of those 7, it has scored multiple goals. The Earthquakes have given up 55 goals in 28 games, the most in the West.

The FCC attack is a lethal one that has typically played well at home. FCC has scored multiple goals in 4 straight games. They also have a weak defense, allowing 1.69 goals per game.

The strength of both sides is attacking while both have weaker-than-average defenses. Considering that, I’d play the OVER 3.5 (+105).

San Jose Earthquakes vs. Colorado Rapids odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s San Jose Earthquakes vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The San Jose Earthquakes (1 wins, 5 losses, 3 draws) welcome the Colorado Rapids (3-3-3) to PayPal Park Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the San Jose Earthquakes vs. Colorado Rapids odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

San Jose has made up some ground after a horrific start to the season. The Earthquakes lost 3 of their first 4, but are 1-1-1 in the last 3. They’ve allowed a league-most 23 goals in 9 matches.

The Earthquakes have given up 2 or more goals in 5 straight games. San Jose is led by 25-year-old American F Jeremy Ebobisse with 5 goals. San Jose’s 15 goals rank 3rd in the West.

Colorado finished atop the West last season, led by a defense which allowed 35 goals in 34 games. The Rapids have allowed just 11 goals in 9 games this season, but have struggled to score.

The Rapids are led by 28-year-old Chilean F Diego Rubio, who has 5 goals. Colorado is 0-1-3 on the road this season and is 8th in the Western Conference.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -135 | U: +110)

[tipico]

Prediction

Colorado 2, San Jose 1

Money line (ML)

BET COLORADO +175.

I’m fully on the boat that the Rapids are better than they’ve played this season. Rubio is playing well and M Jack Price, who had 12 assists last season, should see more offensive involvement as the season progresses.

Colorado ranks 15th in expected goals while San Jose is 9th. However, its expected goals against is 24th (28th would be the best) and San Jose is 10th. Colorado’s top-tier defense should have more success than San Jose’s league-worst defense.

Bettors are getting a great price point considering the Rapids struggle on the road, having yet to win.

Colorado has lost 3 of 4 road games, all against West teams currently in playoff position. Expect the Rapids to have a better showing against San Jose.

With this value, I’d consider only a half-unit bet, but it’s still my favorite angle of the game.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN to the OVER 2.5 (-135).

I love the bet, but the value isn’t necessarily there. As noted above, San Jose scores at a high rate, and Colorado defends at a high rate. The same is true when you flip them.

Despite Colorado’s strong defense, it has still gone over this total in 4 of its 9 games, and now it’ll be taking on a team that plays at one of the highest paces in the MLS.

San Jose is 6-3 O/U this season at this total.

It has had 2.5 or more expected goals between it and its opponent in its last 5 games. Considering its disgustingly atrocious defense, I’d bet Colorado breaks through multiple times.

The over is a strong play in this game.

San Jose vs. Columbus odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s San Jose vs. Columbus odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The San Jose Earthquakes (0 wins, 1 loss, 0 draws) host the Columbus Crew (1-0-0) at PayPal Park Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the San Jose vs. Columbus odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Crew had a disappointing 2021 campaign but started off 2022 with a strong win over 4-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Two of those goals were scored after a Vancouver 53rd-minute red card.

Columbus is led by 2021 All-Star M Lucas Zelarayan, who recorded a goal and an assist in the team’s opener. This will be the Crew’s first road game of the season. They were 3-9-5 away from Lower.com Field last season.

The Earthquakes are coming off a disappointing 3-1 home loss to the New York Red Bulls in their opener. San Jose allowed 7 shots on target in the defeat.

M Javier Lopez did get the Earthquakes on the board with a 69th-minute goal to square the game at 1. San Jose finished 10th in the Western Conference a season ago and seems primed to be near the bottom yet again.

Prediction

Columbus 2, San Jose 1

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to COLUMBUS (+160).

I prefer the total as my best bet, but Columbus looked great in its opener. Zelarayan is among the top-five midfielders in the MLS, and he captained the team with poise.

The Crew put 3 goals on the Whitecaps, who finished 6th in the West last season. San Jose lost at home to New York. While the Red Bulls are a quality side, the Crew will be just as good if not better.

Given Columbus’ form and San Jose not being able to defend its home field in its opener, I expect the Crew to come out on top.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the OVER 2.5 (-135).

It’s a tad pricey, but there’s no other way to play this match. San Jose allowed 3 goals to New York and Columbus scored 3 on Vancouver, a team that allowed just 45 in 34 games last year.

The Earthquakes were tied for the third-worst Western Conference defense last season, giving up 54 goals in 34 games.

The Crew, on the other hand, didn’t allow a goal, but Vancouver did get 7 shots off. Columbus allowed 1.3 goals per game a season ago, so it’d be relatively shocking to see two clean sheets to start the season.

Colorado Rapids at San Jose Earthquakes odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado Rapids at San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rapids (11 wins, 4 losses, 5 draws) visit the San Jose Earthquakes (6-7-8) Saturday at PayPal Park. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Colorado Rapids vs. San Jose Earthquakes odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Earthquakes are welcoming the Rapids after a quality road victory over the LA Galaxy. They’ve been a fortress of late and haven’t lost since June 26. They’re 3-0-7 over their last 10 matches.

San Jose is just 3-4-3 at home, though. Colorado is entering the game with a 5-3-2 road record. The Rapids haven’t lost since late July and have won four of their last six games.

Prediction

Colorado Rapids 1, San Jose Earthquakes 1

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” to the DRAW (+250) as the best value.

San Jose has a couple of odd wins this season over the Seattle Sounders and LA Galaxy. Outside of the playoff picture as of now, the Earthquakes also clearly aren’t a top-tier side.

Over their last 10 matches, they’ve played extremely well but still managed a draw in six of them. The Rapids have also drawn two of their last five outings.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (+105) as both sides haven’t been scoring much lately.

The Rapids also have one of the better defenses in MLS. They’ve given up the second-fewest goals in the Western Conference and the Under hit in three of their last six matches.

San Jose has given up a little over a goal per game as well. Recently, the Earthquakes have been in mainly low-scoring games as seven of their last nine totaled fewer than 3 goals.

San Jose Earthquakes at LA Galaxy odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s San Jose Earthquakes at LA Galaxy odds and lines, with MLS picks and predictions.

In the only MLS match Friday, the San Jose Earthquakes (5 wins, 8 draws, 7 losses) travel south to take on the LA Galaxy (11-2-7). The match will be held at Dignity Health Tennis Center in Los Angeles, Calif. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.  Below, we preview the San Jose Earthquakes vs. LA Galaxy odds and lines, and make our best MLS bets, picks and predictions.

The Galaxy are coming off an embarrassing defeat in which they easily could’ve given up several more goals as they ended up losing 2-1 to the Colorado Rapids. Star F Chicharito has been sidelined for several games. They could use him back for this one but he remains unlikely to rejoin the club Friday.

The Earthquakes haven’t lost since the Galaxy beat them in late June. Since then they’ve recorded 7 draws and 2 victories over the Seattle Sounders and LAFC.

The Earthquakes rank ninth in the Western Conference while the Galaxy are in third.

Prediction

LA Galaxy 1, San Jose Earthquakes 0

Money line (ML)

BET on the LA GALAXY (-125) as they’ve been unstoppable at home. While they are coming off a rough home loss to the Colorado Rapids the Earthquakes are not on the Rapids’ level.

The Galaxy have 11 wins in 20 matches overall and have typically taken care of business at home where they have recorded seven victories in 11 games.

I’d expect them to take of business at home Friday as well.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (+110) as the best value on the table.

The Galaxy have scored 31 goals and given up 30 through their 20 games. They looked shaky against Colorado, but as mentioned before the Earthquakes are not on that level.

Both teams have struggled to score lately. The Galaxy Under has hit in three of their last four matches and the Earthquakes Under has come through in seven of their last eight games.

Given those trends, I’d expect the Under to hit here.
