Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cincinnati Reds (33-31) and Milwaukee Brewers (38-28) play the second of a three-game set Tuesday at 8:10 p.m. ET at American Family Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Reds vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Luis Castillo is the projected starting pitcher for the Reds. He is 2-9 with a 6.47 ERA, 1.58 WHIP, 9.8 K/9 and 3.8 BB/9 in 64 IP over 13 starts.

Castillo has really struggled this season. He lost last time out against the Brewers Thursday when he allowed three runs, one hit and three walks over 5 2/3 innings in a loss. He is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in two starts against Milwaukee this season.

LHP Brett Anderson is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 2-4 with a 4.99 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 4.8 K/9 and 3.2 BB/9 in 39 2/3 IP over 10 starts.

Anderson was knocked around by the Reds in Cincinnati Wednesday in his most recent start, yielding five runs (four earned) and five hits with two walks and no strikeouts across just three innings in a loss. He is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two starts against Cincinnati this season.

Reds at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Reds -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Brewers -110 (bet $110 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Reds -1.5 (+145) | Brewers +1.5 (-175)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Brewers 6, Reds 4

Money line (ML)

BREWERS (-110) is the lean here as they look to rebound after a 10-2 setback in the series opener Monday. They’re a great play against Castillo, who is in the midst of his worst season as a pro.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BREWERS +1.5 (-175) aren’t terribly expensive if you would like a little insurance, but I’d still rather just play Milwaukee straight up. Castillo has been horrific, and Anderson is at least semi-respectable at home posting a 4.20 ERA across his three starts in Cream City.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 8.5 (-120) is the lean here as both Castillo and Anderson have been very giving. Castillo has been knocked around in his two starts against the Brewers, too, while Anderson has also struggled against the Reds. The Over hit in the series opener, too.

Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cincinnati Reds (32-31) and Milwaukee Brewers (38-27) play the first of a three-game set at American Family Field Monday with an 8:10 p.m. ET first pitch. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Reds vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Vladimir Gutierrez is the projected starting pitcher for the Reds. He is 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 6.9 K/9 and 4.2 BB/9 over 17 IP through 3 starts.

Gutierrez will face the Brewers for the second consecutive start. He allowed just two runs and six hits with three walks and seven strikeouts across seven innings in a victory Wednesday at Great American Ball Park for his second consecutive win.

LHP Eric Lauer is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 1-2 with a 4.82 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, 10.6 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9 over 28 IP through 4 starts and 3 relief appearances.

Lauer made a relief appearance Wednesday at GBAP, opposite Gutierrez and the Reds last time out, allowing two runs, two hits and four walks in a wild 80-pitch relief appearance across four innings. He hasn’t won since his first outing April 29 against the Dodgers.

Reds at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Reds +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | Brewers -155 (bet $155 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Reds +1.5 (-155) | Brewers -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 9 (Over -105 | Under -115)

Prediction

Reds 6, Brewers 4

Money line (ML)

The REDS (+125) are a value play behind Gutierrez, who was impressive in his most-recent win over the Brewers (-155). I just don’t trust the southpaw Lauer, either, as he hasn’t won since late April. Until he starts going longer into games and ticking off quality starts, pick against him when he is on the bump.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

If you’re not feeling the REDS +1.5 (-155) straight up, they’re a decent value on the run line as they’re not obscenely overpriced catching a run-and-a-half.

The Reds have covered the run line in each of Gutierrez’s past two starts including as underdogs June 3 in St. Louis.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-105) is the lean here, although only as a small-unit wager. The Over has cashed in two of Lauer’s past three starts, and the Over is 4-0 in Cincinnati’s past four road outings against a left-handed starting pitcher. The Over is also 3-0-1 in Milwaukee’s past four tries vs. RHP.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Pirates (23-40) and Milwaukee Brewers (37-27) play the finale of a three-game set at American Family Field Sunday with a 2:10 p.m. ET first pitch. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Pirates vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Wil Crowe is the projected starting pitcher for the Pirates. He is 0-4 with a 7.26 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 and 4.9 BB/9 over 31 IP through 7 starts and 1 relief appearance.

Crowe took his second straight loss in his last start, allowing 8 ER on 8 H with 2 BB and 3 K across 4 IP, June 1 at Kansas City.

RHP Adrian Houser is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 4-5 with a 3.66 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 7.9 K/9 and 4.0 BB/9 over 59 IP through 11 starts and 1 relief appearance.

Houser has allowed 2 ER across 15 1/3 innings over the past three starts, lowering his ERA from 4.53 to 3.66 since May 21. He allowed 3 ER, 5 H and 1 BB in 4 1/3 IP in a loss against the Pirates on April 16.

MLB betting offers/promotions

  • Money line: Pirates +170 (bet $100 to win $170) | Brewers -210 (bet $210 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pirates +1.5 (-115) | Brewers -1.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 9 (Over -105 | Under -115)

Prediction

Brewers 8, Pirates 3

Money line (ML)

A bet on the Brewers (-210) means a risk of more than two times your potential return. Never mind that, and look to the spread instead.

PASS.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BREWERS -1.5 (-105) are a much more affordable play at near even money, after winning each of the first two in this series by a score of 7-4. Milwaukee has won by two or more runs in each of their last eight victories, coming over nine games dating back to June 3.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 9 (-105) is the lean here. We have had a total of 11 runs in each of the first two in this set, so why stop now? The Over is 8-3 in the past 11 games overall for Pittsburgh, including each of the past three.

For Milwaukee, the Over is 4-1 in their last 5 as a favorite and 4-1-1 in the past six against vs. RHP.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Pirates (23-39) and Milwaukee Brewers (36-27) play the second game of a three-game set at American Family Field Saturday with a 4:10 p.m. ET first pitch. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Pirates vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Chad Kuhl is the projected starting pitcher for the Pirates. He is 0-3 with a 5.61 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, 7.4 K/9 and 6.0 BB/9 over 25 2/3 IP through 6 starts.

Kuhl posted his first quality start of the season last time out on Sunday against the Miami Marlins, allowing just 3 R (2 ER), 3 H, and 1 BB with 2 K across 6 IP. He is still winless, but a lack of offensive support was to blame against Miami.

RHP Corbin Burnes is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 3-4 with a 1.97 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, 14.3 K/9 and 1.1 BB/9 over 59 1/3 IP through 10 starts.

Burnes turned in his second straight quality start last time out Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, twirling seven scoreless innings with 4 H, 0 BB, and 13 K in a win. It was his first victory since April 20.

Pirates at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 7:16 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Pirates +240 (bet $100 to win $240) | Brewers -305 (bet $305 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pirates +2.5 (-135) | Brewers -2.5 (+110)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (Over -115 | Under -105)

Prediction

Brewers 7, Pirates 2

Money line (ML)

The Brewers (-305) will cost you over three times your potential return. Milwaukee won 7-4 in the series opener behind Brandon Woodruff, and you can expect similar results in this one.

However, PASS betting this one straight up, and play the run line instead.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BREWERS -2.5 (+110) are much better value on the run line rather than risking a fortune straight up. Milwaukee has won by three or more runs in five of their past seven victories, which have come in the eight games since June 3.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 7.5 (-115) is the play. The Over cashed Friday, is 7-3 in Pittsburgh’s last 10 outings, and is 3-0-1 in their last four on the road.

For Milwaukee, the Over is 10-4 in the past 14 as a favorite, and 3-1-1 in the past five against a right-handed starter.

Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Pittsburgh Pirates at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (35-27) host the Pittsburgh Pirates (23-38) Friday in the first game of their three-game set at American Family Field. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Pirates odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Pirates lead 2-1.

RHP Chase De Jong takes the hill for the Pirates. He is 0-0 with 6 ER, 10 H, 3 BB and 10 K over 10 IP.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 5 IP with 5 ER, 7 H, 1 BB and 5 K in Pittsburgh’s 8-7 victory over the Miami Marlins Saturday.

RHP Brandon Woodruff makes his 13th start for the Brewers. He is 4-2 with a 1.42 ERA (76 IP, 12 ER), an MLB-leading 0.737 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 10.9 K/9.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 5 IP with 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB and 9 K in Milwaukee’s 7-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday.
  • vs. Pirates on the current roster: 69 at-bats with a .261/.363/.420 slash line, 26/9 K/BB, 2 HR and 6 RBIs.

Pirates at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 1:20 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Pirates +240 (bet $100 to win $240) | Brewers -300 (bet $300 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Pirates +2.5 (-135) | Brewers -2.5 (+110)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Prediction

Brewers 3, Pirates 1

Money line (ML)

PASS since Milwaukee is the right side but the Brewers (-300) are well out of my price range.

Woodruff is perhaps having the second-best season of any starter in the National League other than Jacob deGrom but he lost his previous start against the Pirates in 2020. Also, his 5-inning outing against the D-Backs last weekend was his first non-quality start since Opening Day so maybe there’s some regression on the way.

However, I’m not betting the Pirates because Woodruff’s said regression is completely theoretical since his advanced pitching numbers are off the charts and he has the second-best FIP (2.20) among qualified NL starters.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Slight “LEAN” to the PIRATES +2.5 (-135) for a quarter unit if at all because that’s where the value is in this matchup.

Milwaukee’s lineup is 26th in wRC+, 25th in wOBA and 18th in WAR. Additionally, the Brewers are without several key bats in 3B Travis Shaw, OF Lorenzo Cain and 2B Kolten Wong.

Over/Under (O/U)

TAKE the UNDER 7.5 (-120) for 1 unit as the best bet in the Pirates-Brewers meeting since Woodruff is a Cy Young candidate and De Jong should be amped up to give Pittsburgh a shot to beat Milwaukee’s ace.

Furthermore, the presumed “sharp” side of the market is backing the Under whereas the public money is taking the Over.

According to Pregame.com, nearly 60% of the cash is on the Under while more than three-fourths of the bets placed are on the Over. It’s wiser to follow the money rather than the crowd in sports betting.

Obviously, the Brew Crew’s lineup struggles and absences belong in this section as well and, surprisingly, Pittsburgh’s bullpen has a better WAR than Milwaukee’s.

Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (34-27) and the Cincinnati Reds (29-30) match up Thursday to end their three-game series. First pitch is slated for 12:35 p.m ET at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Reds odds with MLB picks and predictions.

RHP Freddy Peralta is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 6-1 with a 2.25 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 12.9 K/9 in 64 IP over 11 starts and one bullpen appearance.

Peralta has been on fire lately, giving up just two earned runs in his last two performances, both of which he threw for at least seven innings. However, he did give up two earned runs in 4 2/3 IP in his last outing against the Reds.

RHP Luis Castillo is the projected starting pitcher for the Reds. He is 2-8 with a 6.63 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and 8.2 K/9 in 58 1/3 IP over 12 starts.

One good thing to note about Castillo is that he could be gaining confidence, pitching six innings against the Cardinals and giving up just one earned run. However, he’s given up at least three earned runs in three of his last five starts.

MLB betting offers/promotions

BetMGM Sportsbook offers available in CO, IA, IN, MI, NJ, PA, TN, VA and WV. New customer offers, terms and conditions apply.

Brewers at Reds odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 2:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Brewers -125 (bet $125 to win $100) | Reds +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Brewers -1.5 (+125) | Reds +1.5 (-155)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Brewers 6, Reds 4

Money line (ML)

“LEAN” Brewers (-125) because the difference in starting pitching could be a game-changer. It’s not the best value, but it’s the better play.

Take it with a grain of salt, but the Reds are by far the worst team on Thursdays. They’re 2-4 with over a 9.00 ERA. Their pitchers are already looking forward to the weekend.

Now, let’s dive into a few real numbers. Coming off a win, the Reds are tossing a pitcher with over a 6.00 ERA through 12 starts to the mound. That’s never good news for the home side.

The Reds ate up LHP Brett Anderson, forcing him to exit with four earned runs. I wouldn’t expect the same success against Peralta who has given up four earned runs in just one start this season.

The Brewers relievers gave up two earned runs in five innings yesterday and were perfect in the first game of the series.

For that reason, I’m leaning towards the Brewers.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

“BET” Brewers -1.5 (+125) because both games have been heavily dictated by the winning team, and the betting value is there. The pitching difference is what really makes the difference.

I’m expecting C Tyler Stephenson not to have his best game of the season as he did against the Brewers in the second game, the Brewers behind Peralta should be able to take care of business.

At this price, taking the NL Central’s leader that’s above .500 on the road at this value is an easy one.

Over/Under (O/U)

“PASS” on the Over/Under at 8.5 because both teams have been too streaky in the series.

The Over missed in the first game and nulled in the second game. It’s slated at eight, and I wouldn’t bet either way on this one.

The Reds do give up more than five earned runs in day games while the Brewers also aren’t great during the daytime either.

Not to harp on it again, but Peralta has been solid all season long while Castillo hasn’t been. With the over having yet to hit and the under not looking great either given the pitchers taking the mound, this is a pass.

Detroit Tigers at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Detroit Tigers at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Detroit Tigers (22-31) and Milwaukee Brewers (28-25) play the first game of a two-game set at American Family Field Monday with a 2:10 p.m. ET first pitch. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Tigers vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

LHP Tyler Alexander is the projected starting pitcher for the Tigers. He is 0-0 with a 4.35 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 8.3 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 over 20 2/3 IP through 13 relief appearances. Monday will be his first start of the season.

Alexander will be making his first start since Sept. 4, 2020. His longest relief appearance this season was a 3-inning effort April 30 against the New York Yankees.

RHP Corbin Burnes is the projected starting pitcher for the Brewers. He is 2-4 with a 2.33 ERA, 0.65 WHIP, 14.4 K/9 and 1.0 BB/9 over 46 1/3 IP through 8 starts.

Burnes tied a season-high with 4 earned runs allowed against the San Diego Padres Tuesday, and he has dropped his past three decisions across four starts. His last win was April 20.

Tigers at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Tigers +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Brewers -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Tigers +1.5 (-105) | Brewers -1.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under: 7 (Over -120 | Under +100)

Prediction

Brewers 8, Tigers 3

Money line (ML)

The BREWERS (-250) have rattled off four straight wins. While they enter this two-game interleague series with four straight losses to American League teams this season, the Tigers should struggle to post runs against Burnes.

In addition, Detroit has a guy making his first start of the season, so it will likely land on the bullpen to do the heavy lifting. That’s bad news, as the Tigers rank 28th in the majors with a 5.30 bullpen ERA.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The BREWERS -1.5 (-115) are worth a roll of the dice.

While Detroit enters on a three-game win streak after a shocking sweep of the Yankees over the weekend, I just don’t trust Alexander and the Tigers ‘pen.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 7 (-120) is the lean, as the Tigers bullpen will likely be tasked with at least four or five innings here.

Not only do Tigers relievers have the 5.30 ERA, they have a dismal 1.55 WHIP while serving up 30 homers this season.

Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (27-25) go for a three-game sweep of the Washington Nationals (21-27) Sunday in Nationals Park at 1:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Nationals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Milwaukee took both games of the seven-inning doubleheader with Washington Saturday by a combined score of 10-3.

Season series: Brewers 2-0.

RHP Brandon Woodruff makes his 11th start for the Brewers. Woodruff is 3-2 with a 1.41 ERA (64 IP, 10 ER), 0.70 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 10.3 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 5-3, in 7 IP with 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB and 8 K Monday vs. San Diego Padres.
  • Career vs. Nationals (regular season): 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA (18 2/3 IP, 2 ER), 0.70 WHIP and 11.1 K/9 in two starts and two bullpen outings.
    • vs. Nationals on the current roster: 65 at-bats with a .169/.225/.323 slash line, 20/4 K/BB, 3 HR and 7 RBIs.

RHP Max Scherzer is the projected starter for the Nationals. Scherzer is 4-3 with a 2.27 ERA (63 1/3 IP, 16 ER), 0.85 WHIP, 1.8 BB/9 and 12.1 K/9 across 10 starts.

  • Last outing: Loss, 2-1, in 7 IP with 2 ER, 5 H, 1 BB and 9 K vs. Cincinnati Reds Tuesday.
  • Career vs. Brewers (regular season): 2-2 with a 2.29 ERA (51 IP, 13 ER), 0.94 WHIP and 11.8 K/9 over eight starts and one bullpen appearance.
    • vs. Brewers on the current roster: 111 at-bats with a .198/.288/.387 slash line, 40/12 K/BB, 5 HR and 11 RBIs.

Brewers at Nationals odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 6:16 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Brewers +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Nationals -120 (bet $120 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Brewers +1.5 (-225) | Nationals -1.5 (+180)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Prediction

Brewers 4, Nationals 1

Money line (ML)

Scherzer being a probable Hall of Fame starting pitcher is part of the reason why the value is with the BREWERS (+100) and the other part has been the dominance of Milwaukee’s starter so far this season.

Woodruff is one of the few non-Jacob deGrom Cy Young contenders in the National League and he currently ranks third in WAR, first in home runs allowed per nine innings, second in FIP and fourth in hard-hit rate.

Furthermore, Woodruff has nine consecutive quality starts and is leading the major leagues in WHIP and hits allowed per nine innings.

According to Pregame.com, more money and bets have been placed on the Nationals, but Washington’s money line is getting cheaper across most books, which insinuates oddsmakers would want more pro-Nationals action.

In my opinion, the reason behind Washington’s popularity in this spot has less to do with actual baseball handicapping and more to do with the market blindly backing Scherzer, who’s trying to end a Nationals losing streak.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS because Milwaukee’s run line is far too expensive and the Brewers’ alternate line is out of the question given their weak bullpen and Scherzer being on the mound.

Milwaukee’s bullpen was a strength in previous seasons, but this year it ranks 22nd in WAR, 27th in home runs allowed per nine innings and 26th in hard-hit rate.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 6.5 (-115) for a half unit because both starters are aces, Washington’s lineup is average and Milwaukee’s lineup has been terrible thus far.

Also, the Under has cashed in Scherzer’s last four starts at home and Woodruff’s last four on the road vs. a team with a losing record.

Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Milwaukee Brewers (25-25) play the Washington Nationals (21-25) in Game 2 of their seven-inning doubleheader Saturday at Nationals Park. First pitch is scheduled at 7:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Brewers vs. Nationals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Milwaukee beat the San Diego Padres 6-5 in extra innings Thursday to split a four-game series and is 5-5 in its last 10 games.

Washington split a doubleheader with the Cincinnati Reds Thursday. The Nationals lost the three-game set and are 5-5 in their past 10 games.

LHP Brett Anderson is making his eighth start for the Brewers. He is 2-3 with a 4.34 ERA (29 IP, 14 ER), 1.38 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 5.3 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 5 IP with 2 ER, 4 H, 0 BB and 3 K Saturday at the Cincinnati Reds.
  • Career vs. Nationals: 0-1 with 5 IP, 7 ER, 3 BB, 10 H and 1 K in one start (2015).
    • vs. Nationals on the current roster: 36 at-bats with a .278/.341/.639 slash line, 8/4 K/BB, 3 HR and 11 RBIs.

LHP Jon Lester is the projected starter for the Nationals. He is 0-2 with a 5.33 ERA (25 1/3 IP, 15 ER), 1.50 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 6.4 K/9 over five starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 4 IP with 6 ER, 5 H, 3 BB and 4 K in Washington’s 12-9 win over the Baltimore Orioles Saturday.
  • Career vs. Brewers: 5-4 with a 3.09 ERA (81 2/3 IP, 28 ER), 1.22 WHIP and 9.5 K/9 across 13 starts.
    • vs. Brewers on the current roster: 147 at-bats with a .347/.392/.469 slash line, 40/11 K/BB, 1 HR and 11 RBIs.

  • Money line: Brewers +100 (bet $100 to win $100) | Nationals -120 (bet $120 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Brewers -1.5 (+180) | Nationals +1.5 (-225)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Prediction

Nationals 4, Brewers 2

Money line (ML)

BET the NATIONALS (-120) for 1 unit because they are much better against left-handed pitching and Washington’s advanced hitting numbers against Anderson are excellent, which gives the Nationals pitching staff a slight edge.

For instance, the Nationals are sixth in wRC+, fourth in wOBA and 10th in hard-hit rate. Also, Anderson has a 7.47 FIP against current Nationals hitters with a .506 xwOBA, .810 expected slugging percentage and a 95.8 mph exit velocity.

Despite Lester being way past his prime and his basic pitching numbers both this year and against the Brewers not being very good, his advanced numbers against this Milwaukee roster gives me confidence he can grind out a win.

Lester has a 2.00 FIP, .437 expected slugging percentage, 25.4% strikeout rate and an 84.9 mph exit velocity against Milwaukee’s roster.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS. Lester, this overall inconsistent Nationals lineup and Washington’s 6-11 run line record as a home favorite are my reasons for staying away.

Over/Under (O/U)

Speaking of Washington’s inconsistent lineup, the Nationals have the highest percentage of Unders in the majors with a 14-29-3 O/U record, which is due to Washington’s batters not hitting as well as expected.

I am convinced enough the Nationals will get to Anderson and Milwaukee’s bullpen to take Washington’s money line, but not convinced enough in either mediocre offense to take the Over.

PASS.

San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The San Diego Padres (32-18) and the Milwaukee Brewers (24-25) close out their four-game series at American Family Field Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Padres vs. Brewers odds with MLB picks and predictions.

San Diego pulled out a 2-1 extra-inning victory Wednesday for its second win of the series. C Victor Caratini‘s RBI single scored RF Wil Myers in the top of the 10th.

Season series: Brewers lead 4-2.

LHP Ryan Weathers makes his sixth start of the season for the Padres. He is 2-1 with a 1.48 ERA (30 1/3 IP, 5 ER), 0.92 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.5 K/9 over five starts and five relief appearances.

  • Last outing: No-decision in 4 IP with 1 ER, 6 H, 2 BB and 2 K in San Diego’s 6-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners Saturday.
  • Career vs. Brewers: No appearances.

RHP Adrian Houser is the projected starter for the Brewers. He is 3-5 with a 4.53 ERA (43 2/3 IP, 22 ER), 1.40 WHIP, 4.1 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 across nine starts.

  • Last outing: Loss in 4 IP with 6 ER, 5 H, 4 BB and 4 K at the Cincinnati Reds Friday.
  • Career vs. Padres: 0-1 with a 2.77 ERA (13 IP, 4 ER), 0.85 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 in two starts and one relief outing.
    • vs. Padres on the current roster: 39 at-bats with a .179/.238/.469 slash line, 10/3 K/BB, 0 HR and 3 RBIs.

Padres at Brewers odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Padres -125 (bet $125 to win $100) | Brewers +105 (bet $100 to win $105)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Padres -1.5 (+135) | Brewers +1.5 (-160)
  • Over/Under: 8 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

Padres 6, Brewers 3

Money line (ML)

GIMME the PADRES (-125) for 1 unit because they are a far better hitting team and have a significant edge in pitching as well.

San Diego’s lineup got off to a slow start but over the past two weeks, Padres batters are sixth in WAR and wOBA, and fifth in wRC+.

A major reason why they’re starting to find their groove at the plate is that they’re drawing more walks (second in BB/K rate over the last 14 days). It’s an area of concern for Houser, who grades in the 28th percentile of BB%.

Also, Weathers has been very tough on left-handed hitters. Three of Milwaukee’s best bats are lefties who’ve struggled vs. left-handed pitching in 2B Kolten Wong, OF Christian Yelich and 3B Travis Shaw.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Padres -1.5 (+135). I’d prefer to stick with San Diego’s money line since Houser has pitched well against the Padres.

Furthermore, the Brewers have good arms in the bullpen and their numbers should progress toward the mean in the coming weeks.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a slight “lean” to the Over 8 (-110) because these teams have a combined 10-4 O/U record when these starters take the mound but the Under cashed in eight of the last 10 Padres-Brewers meetings, dating back to 2019.
