Twins’ Byron Buxton smoothly avoided getting decked by the Bratwurst during the Brewers’ Sausage Race

This was a very close call.

Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton had a very close call during the Milwaukee Brewers’ annual Sausage Race.

As Buxton was exiting the dugout to head onto the field on Tuesday in his team’s game against the Brewers, he nearly collided with the Bratwurst in the Sausage Race as it was rounding the lap.

Buxton made a smooth move to get back into the dugout before the Bratwurst ran into him, which would’ve been deeply unfortunate for everyone involved.

The poor person in the Bratwurst costume can’t see very well while they’re running, so we’re guessing that the Brewers might try to help the visibility for those running in the Sausage Race from here on out.

For Buxton and the Bratwurst, it was a very lucky miss that could’ve gone horribly wrong.

New lip-reading video shows NSFW stuff Rhys Hoskins and Jeff McNeil yelled at each other

So many curses yelled between these two.

It was the Opening Day drama that made headlines everywhere: after Rhys Hoskins dangerously slid into Jeff McNeil at second base in the Milwaukee Brewers’ win over the New York Mets on Friday, the infielder and the first baseman jawed at each other.

It was clear Hoskins called McNeil a “crybaby” and surely there were expletives tossed at each other. And that’s where Jomboy comes in — the lip-reader of all things baseball and beyond had a go at what was said between the two, and you can bet he found a lot of not-so-nice stuff.

WARNING: There’s a TON of NSFW stuff said in this one:

Former Notre Dame baseball star will now manage the Chicago Cubs

Congrats Craig!

In a whirlwind of events, former [autotag]Notre Dame baseball[/autotag] and MLB player [autotag]Craig Counsell[/autotag], will move away from the [autotag]Milwaukee Brewers[/autotag] and travel down I-94 south to take over the managerial duties for the [autotag]Chicago Cubs[/autotag].

The rumors first started on Monday morning, as there were reports and teams were looking to poach Counsell from the Brewers. Not many expected the Cubs to be the main suitor, but the move was made and it has been verified by the ball club.

During his Irish playing career, he was a career. .306 hitter, walking twice as many times as he struck out, which led the Colorado Rockies to draft him in the 11th round of the 1992 MLB draft.

Counsell would score the winning run for the Florida Marlins in the 1997 World Series, which was the highlight of his playing career. He would then immediately move into coaching inside the Brewers organization when Counsell retired in 2012.

Three years later, in 2015, he was named their manager, guiding them to a 707-625 record during his tenure. Counsell now takes over a Cubs team that barely missed the playoffs this past season, but has deep pockets and could field a better team than their division rivals.

Congrats Craig!

Photos: Milwaukee Brewers in-stadium golf suite to remain open during offseason

This X-Golf suite is the only one inside a Major League Baseball stadium.

The Milwaukee Brewers were bounced from the MLB playoffs but that doesn’t mean their in-stadium golf experience is closing down til next season.

The X-Golf suite at American Family Field, the only one inside a Major League Baseball stadium, is open year-round and seven days a week. The venue has seven golf simulators, several bars and a restaurant. There are 79 other X-Golf locations around the U.S.

It costs $40 per hour and golfers can virtually play more than 50 golf courses. This place will come in especially handy during those brutal Wisconsin winters.

The suite at the Brewers park opened late in the 2022 season.

Check out some photos of X-Golf.

Warriors’ Kevon Looney throws out first pitch in Milwaukee before Brewers vs. Rockies

Kevon Looney was on the bump for the ceremonial first pitch in Milwaukee before the Brewers hosted the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.

Shortly after rookie Brandin Podziemski threw out the first pitch at Oracle Park in San Francisco for a Giants game, another member of the Golden State Warriors was on a major league pitching mound.

On Thursday, Kevon Looney toed the rubber before the Milwaukee Brewers hosted the Colorado Rockies at American Family Field in Wisconsin. The Warriors center was on the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for his hometown baseball team.

Looney was born in Milwaukee and played high school basketball for Alexander Hamilton High in Milwaukee. He was named Wisconsin’s Mr. Basketball following his senior season at Alexander Hamilton.

With Looney in attendance, the NL Central-leading Brewers secured a victory in walk-off fashion. With the game knotted at six in the 10th inning. recent Brewers trade acquisition Mark Canha scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th on a throwing error from the Rockies. Ezequiel Tovar couldn’t finish the throw on a ground ball from Andruw Monasterio as Canha scurried home for the Brewers’ win, 7-6.

The Brewers’ Abner Uribe threw the filthiest 99 MPH sinker that disappeared out of the strike zone

This pitch is AMAZING.

We’ve seen some positive filth out of pitchers this season like Kodai Senga’s ghost fork or the slurve from Julio Urias that looks unhittable. And don’t forget anything that Jhoan Duran throws for the Twins.

But this? This is disgusting, absurd, wild, I’m running out of words here.

This is a pitch from Milwaukee Brewers rookie Abner Uribe, owner of a 1.69 ERA in 10.2 innings to go along with 12 strikeouts. Dude threw a 99 MPH sinker on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. It’s right there on the outside corner for Jack Suwinski … and then he whiffs at air because that pitch has darted out and away.

WOW:

Bryce Harper had the most bizarre at-bat in which he barely moved for a 6-pitch strikeout

This was so weird!!

Uh, Bryce Harper. What the heck happened here?

The Philadelphia Phillies slugger stepped to the plate on Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Brewers and reliever Hoby Milner. It’s not like Milner is known for being a lights-out pitcher or anything, but Harper just stood there. And in six pitches, he struck out without barely moving.

MORE: Every MLB stadium in 2023, ranked

What gives? Milner himself was mystified (via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel): “After the first couple of pitches, it was apparent he was taking. I guess the scouting report he was going with was I was going to throw four balls before three strikes approach. That’s really all I can say. That’s what it looked like. So I just filled it up after that. I just tried to throw fastballs down the middle after that.”

Check this out:

Weird. Can’t wait to hear Harper talk about this.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell getting ejected came with a perfect broadcast play-by-play

If your team’s manager is going to be ejected, you might as well get a laugh out of it.

While the Cincinnati Reds had a wonderful Saturday at the ballpark, the Milwaukee Brewers saw their manager get ejected for seemingly decrying a call from umpire John Tumpane.

During the top of the ninth inning, Brewers pitcher Abner Uribe got called for a balk by Tumpane, the second balk called during the game at that point.

Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell seemingly said something about Tumpane’s call that the umpire didn’t like, and he ejected Counsell for the rest of the game.

Counsell looked a bit bewildered by the ejection and walked up to Tumpane to discuss the decision, and the FOX Sports 1 broadcast crew gave some very humorous and insightful narration to the two’s interaction.

Some possible NSFW language to follow.

Baseball fans have a historic distaste for umpires, and there’s undoubtedly plenty of Brewers fans at home who had no idea why this ejection happened in the first place.

At the least, we got a great breakdown of what was possibly going on between Counsell and Tumpane (with a few good zingers tucked in for good measure).

Craig Counsell becomes Brewers all-time winningest manager

Pretty good week so far for Notre Dame baseball…

What a week it has been for Notre Dame’s baseball program.  We’re all aware this past Sunday saw the Irish upset No. 1 Tennessee in a series that won’t be soon forgotten by any college baseball fan, but a former Notre Dame player got on board the accomplishment train this week as well.

Craig Counsell, a 1992 graduate of Notre Dame and 1997 World Series hero for the then Florida Marlins, has managed the Milwaukee Brewers since early in the 2015 season.  Wednesday night saw the Brewers win their 564th game under Counsell’s direction, making him the winningest manager in Brewers history.

Counsell has led the Brewers to a 564-508 (.526) record since taking over and they’ve made the postseason each of the last four years.

Counsell and the Brewers currently sit at 35-29, 1.5 games back of the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.
