Miles Johns: James Krause being banned from my corner is ‘a rug being pulled out from under your feet’

“I wasn’t worried about the details in that moment, it’s just a rug being pulled out from under your feet.”

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Miles Johns[/autotag] spoke to the media after his UFC Fight Night 215 win.

Johns (13-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) answered questions from MMA Junkie and other media members after defeating Vince Morales (11-7 MMA, 3-5 UFC) by unanimous decision on why his coach [autotag]James Krause[/autotag] was pulled from his corner, who he wants next, and much more.

“I’m not really sure the details about what exactly happened,” Johns told reporters, including MMA Junkie. “They just called him last night and said he was unable to corner me today. UFC’s Miles Johns suspended six months for prescribed Adderall use, fined by NAC

After testing positive, Miles Johns provided the Nevada commission evidence of medical need and prescription for Adderall.

[autotag]Miles Johns[/autotag] has been suspended by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

The UFC bantamweight and the NAC reached an agreement following a positive drug test for prohibited substance Adderall. Johns (12-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) tested positive for the amphetamine in a urine test collected Feb. 5 – the day of his fight against John Castañeda at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The news of Johns’ suspension was announced on Wednesday during the NAC’s monthly meeting.

Johns received a six-month suspension, along with a $3,450 fine, which amounts to 15 percent of his fight purse earned in his UFC Fight Night 200 bout against Castañeda. Johns’ suspension terminates on Aug. 5.

[lawrence-related id=2539646,2539648]

The 28-year-old had not disclosed his use of Adderall to the commission, but he cooperated and was able to reach an agreement with the NAC as he provided evidence of medical need and prescription of the substance after the fact. Adderall commonly is used to reduce hyperactivity and improve attention span and treat ADHD.

Johns hasn’t competed since his third-round submission loss to Castañeda. Prior to the defeat, he was coming off two consecutive knockout wins in the octagon, which each earned him $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses.

Johns is the second fighter in recent months to be suspended for using prescribed Adderall. In November, the NAC also agreed to a settlement deal with Kevin Lee stemming from his Aug. 28 UFC loss to Daniel Rodriguez in Las Vegas.

UFC Fight Night 200 video: John Castaneda shines, chokes Miles Johns unconscious after barrage

The win marks two in a row for “Sexi Mexi.”

[autotag]John Castaneda[/autotag] was more seasoned than most when he entered the UFC, but he long road appears to be paying off.

For the second straight fight, Castaneda (19-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) impressed with a finish victory Saturday when he defeated Fortis MMA standout [autotag]Miles Johns[/autotag] (12-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) via technical submission (arm-triangle choke) at 1:38 of Round 3.

UFC Fight Night 200 took place at the UFC Apex and streamed on ESPN+.

After two hard-fought rounds, Castaneda marked the beginning of the end with a knee and punches on the feet. The combination dropped a tired and hurt Johns to the canvas. Castaneda’s gas tank was strong. He quickly pounced on his downed foe and locked in an arm-triangle choke. Johns went to sleep and the fight was called off.

With the victory, Castaneda has now won two fights in a row since a failed UFC debut against Nathaniel Wood in July 2020. His other UFC victory came against Eddie Wineland when he defeated the former UFC title challenger via first-round knockout in February 2021.
