Check out how Twitter reacted to Ciryl Gane’s flawless TKO win at UFC Paris.

[autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] is back in impressive fashion.

The former UFC interim heavyweight champion rebounded from his disappointing loss to Jon Jones by stopping fellow contender [autotag]Serghei Spivac[/autotag] in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 226 at Accor Arena in Paris.

Gane (12-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) picked apart Spivac (16-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) in the first round, and eventually the damage added up, forcing Spivac to shell up and stop fighting in the second. It was one of Gane’s best UFC wins.

UFC Fight Night 226 results: Ciryl Gane patiently demolishes Serghei Spivac with diverse flurry for TKO

UFC Paris, Ciryl Gane was destructive yet measured en route to finishing Serghei Spivac in front of his home fans.

[autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] has a knack for success at home.

In his second promotional headliner in Paris, Gane (12-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) made it two-for-two when he patiently demolished [autotag]Serghei Spivac[/autotag] (16-4 MMA, 7-4 UFC) for a TKO stoppage at 3:44 of Round 2.

The heavyweight contest served as the main event of UFC Fight Night 226 at Accor Arena and aired live on ESPN+.

From the opening bell, Gane was patient yet effective. The damage quickly took its toll on Spivac, who outside of a few single-punch combinations did not find success in the bout. Gane stuffed an early takedown attempt, perhaps recharging his confidence after a quick and disappointing grappling showing in his March loss vs. Jon Jones at UFC 285.

In Round 2, Gane poured on a more aggressive attack as Spivac backed into the cage and turtled. Spivac absorbed all sorts of strikes until referee Marc Goddard had seen enough and dove in.

After the victory, Gane, who won the UFC’s Paris debut event headliner vs. Tai Tuivasa in 2022, voiced his pride in the region as a whole and the success of his countrymen on Saturday’s card. When asked about a potential matchup with Tom Aspinall, who was cageside, Gane said he welcomes all comers that will get him back toward title gold.

In victory, Gane moves to 2-2 in his most recent four. In defeat, Spivac has a three-fight winning streak snapped.

UFC Fight Night 226: Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 226 odds between Ciryl Gane vs. Serghei Spivac with MMA picks and predictions.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

In a 5-round heavyweight bout in the main event, Ciryl Gane and Serghei Spivac meet at UFC Fight Night 226 — also known as UFC on ESPN+ 84 and UFC Paris — at Accor Arena in Paris on Saturday. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UFC Fight Night 226: Gane vs. Spivac odds, and make our expert picks and predictions.

Records: Gane (11-2-0) | Spivac (16-3-0)

The prelims can be viewed on ESPN+ at 12:30 p.m. ET, while the main card starts at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Gane is looking to bounce back after losing to Jon “Bones” Jones in a 1st-round submission at UFC 285 in March. The loss marked his 2nd straight failed attempt to reclaim the title, as the Frenchman went the distance in a unanimous-decision loss to Francis Ngannou at UFC 270 in Jan. 2022. That was the only time in his last 4 fights that he’s needed the judges, and he earned a 3rd-round TO/TKO victory over Tai Tuivasa in between the title-shot defeats. “Bon Gamin” is 8-2 since joining the UFC with his only 2 losses coming in the title fights.

Spivac takes the walk with 3 consecutive stoppage wins in tow. He submitted Derrick Lewis in the 1st-round of a fight night main event last time out on Feb. 4, and he recorded a pair of KO/TKO wins over Augusto Sakai (2nd round) and Greg Hardy (1st round) in 2022. He has gone the distance just once in his previous 6 battles in the octagon.

Gane holds a 3-inch reach advantage, and he also has a slight 5.08-to-3.79 significant strikes landed per minute advantage. Spivac is slightly more accurate with the strikes, landing 63.78% to 61.93% for Gane. Spivac’s biggest advantage is in the takedown game, posting a 5.05 TD Average, while also posting a 65.85% takedown accuracy percentage and 0.56 submission average.

UFC Fight Night 226: Gane vs. Spivac picks and predictions

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

Gane (-190) had tons of trouble against Jones and Ngannou on the ground, and that certainly doesn’t bode well for him against SPIVAC (+160). The Moldovan fighter and moderate underdog is worth playing, despite the location of the fight favoring Gane.

Spivac holds a tremendous advantage in the ground game, and Gane just won’t be keen to get to the canvas. If the challenger does take it there, this one could be over quickly.

Over/Under (O/U)

No (-550): Will the fight go the distance? will cost you 5 1/2 times your potential return and that’s an awful play — even though this one is unlikely to include the judges for a decision.

I like METHOD OF VICTORY 7-WAY: SPIVAC BY SUBMISSION (+400) for a chance to multiply your wager by 4 times, and UNDER 2.5 ROUNDS (-165) is also a sound play.

UFC Fight Night 226 video: Ciryl Gane, Serghei Spivac size each other up

Watch UFC heavyweights Ciryl Gane and Serghei Spivac come face-to-face ahead of Saturday’s event in Paris.

PARIS – The heavyweight headliners of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 226 got one final pre-fight look at one another Friday in the venue that hosts the fights.

At ceremonial weigh-ins at Accor Arena, former interim UFC heavyweight champion [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] went face-to-face with fellow behemoth [autotag]Serghei Spivac[/autotag]. The two shared a respectful faceoff that was all business and concluded with a handshake.

France’s Gane (11-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) will have another home game as he looks to remain unbeaten on home turf while also bouncing back from a quick submission loss to Jon Jones at UFC 285 in March.

On the flip side, Spivac (16-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) aims to extend his winning streak to four. He enters the bout having recently strung together consecutive victories over Greg Hardy, Augusto Sakai, and Derrick Lewis.

UFC Fight Night 226 official weigh-in results: All 22 fighters hit marks after final close call

The UFC Fight Night 226 official weigh-ins took place Friday in Paris, and you can get full results right here.

PARIS – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Friday’s official UFC Fight Night 226 weigh-ins.

The early weigh-ins took place at the UFC host hotel and preceded the ceremonial weigh-ins for the fans, which take place at 11 a.m. ET at Accor Arena. The same venue hosts Saturday’s event, which streams entirely on ESPN+.

Among those weighing in were former interim heavyweight champion [autotag]Ciryl Gane[/autotag] (11-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and [autotag]Serghei Spivac[/autotag] (16-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC), who meet in the main event, as well as co-headliners [autotag]Manon Fiorot[/autotag] (10-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) and [autotag]Rose Namajunas[/autotag] (11-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC), who square off in what will be former strawweight champion Namajunas’ flyweight debut.

All four headliners made weight without issue.

There was, however, some late drama as the final two fighters to step on the scale, Nora Cornolle and Zarah Fairn, needed the hoop to hit their marks. In Fairn’s case, she needed extra time to come back and make 140 after she was originally half-a-pound over.
