Michigan State football offers 2023 DT from Ohio

MSU has sent an offer to a 2023 defensive tackle prospect from Columbus, Ohio

Michigan State defensive line coach Marco Coleman has extended an offer to a defensive tackle in the 2023 recruiting class. Sidikiba ‘Sid’ Kaba from Columbus, Ohio, has received an offer from Michigan State.

Kaba is a 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman that attends KIPP Columbus Academy. According to 247Sports, Kaba ranks as a 3-star prospect.

Michigan State joins fellow power five programs Duke, Michigan, Penn State and West Virginia in offering the defensive lineman.

Michigan State football and 2023 QB commit part ways

It appears Bo Edmundson is no longer be a part of Michigan State’s 2023 recruiting class:

Bo Edmunson had been the quarterback commit for the Michigan State Spartans in the 2023 recruiting class since early February. But the quarterback is no longer a member of the 2023 class for Michigan State.

It was reported by Michigan State’s 247Sports website, Spartan Tailgate, that it was a mutual parting of the ways between the Austin, Texas, native and the Spartans.

Michigan State football featured in in-state prospect’s top 10

Michigan State was featured in the top 10 of an in-state defensive back prospect

West Bloomfield High School is known in the state of Michigan for being a  powerhouse in the high school football ranks. With that, comes all of the attention its players get from college programs.

Jamir Benjamin is a standout defensive back for the Lakers and is getting looks from colleges all over. He is a three-star prospect that ranks No. 347 overall in the country according to the 247Sports composite.

Michigan State is featured in his top 10 along with Boston College, Michigan, Pitt, Western Michigan, Missouri, Northwestern, Tennessee, Maryland and Kansas.

Michigan State football offers, turning up heat on 2023 Georgia Tech RB commit

Michigan State is getting in the mix for a 4-star running back in the 2023 recruiting class currently committed to Georgia Tech:

Michigan State’s coaching staff has been left scrambling a little bit after the decommitment of Kedrick Reescano, but it appears a new name has emerged and is catapulting himself to the top of the recruiting board.

The Spartans have sent out an offer Javin Simpkins, a Miami native that attends Norland High School. Simpkins has been committed to Georgia Tech since July, but with a coaching change looming, it has opened the door for the Spartans.

According to ESPN, Simpkins is a 4-star prospect that ranks as the No. 18 running back and No. 269 overall recruit in the 2023 recruiting class.

Look for the Spartans to host Simpkins on an official visit within the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Resetting Michigan State football’s RB recruiting board

Check out what Michigan State’s running back board might look like as the early signing period approaches:

Michigan State lost a huge commitment in the form of Kedrick Reescano yesterday. The longtime 4-star commit was a focal point of the class, and now the Spartan coaching staff will be forced to replace him.

There are still a lot of viable options for the Spartans to consider and running backs coach Effrem Reed will look to secure some of those options before the December early signing period.

Michigan State will look to take two running backs in this class, so expect a lot of heat to be turned up on this list:

Michigan State has been featured in a 2024 4-star QB’s top seven schools:

Davi Belfort is a top target for the Michigan State coaching staff in 2024. The gunslinger recently reclassified from the 2025 class to the 2024 class.

The son of UFC legend Vitor Belfort, Davi plays his high school football at Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida. He is a 4-star prospect that ranks as the No. 356 overall player in the 2024 class.

Fresh off of a visit for the Wisconsin game in East Lansing, the Spartans were featured in the QB’s top seven alongside Penn State, Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, Florida and Virginia Tech.

MSU has lost a critical member of their 2023 recruiting class

Michigan State fans received some bad news on Thursday afternoon when longtime running back commit Kedrick Reescano backed off his commitment with the Spartans.

With his breakout senior campaign, Reescano has been getting a lot of attention from SEC teams vying to flip his commitment.

Michigan State will look to pursue Reescano’s commitment following the decommitment, but the Spartans want to take two running backs in this class. Look for the coaching staff to put pressure on the running back board.

Michigan State football first in the running for Chamberlain Campbell

MSU has extended an offer to an under-the-radar prospect from Florida

Michigan State coaches have extended an offer to Chamberlain Campbell, a native of the sunshine state.

Campbell attends Lakewood High School in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He has just now busted onto the recruiting scene, having previously played basketball and just now starting his football career in his senior season. Standing at 6-foot-7, Campbell brings an interesting dynamic to the edge rushing position. Campbell is yet to be ranked by any of the recruiting sites.

Michigan State was the first team to offer the dynamic edge, but shortly after the MSU offer came in, Campbell received his second offer from the University of Miami.

MSU has sent out an offer to a Memphis commit

Michigan State has sent out an offer to Arion Carter, a Smyrna, Tennessee, native that is currently committed to the Memphis Tigers.

Carter is having a huge senior season at Smyrna High School, where he has since seen his recruitment blow up in a very good way. He now ranks as a 4-star prospect, and as the No. 332 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Michigan State basketball gets in the mix for 5-star SF in 2024

Tom Izzo, Michigan State has gotten into the mix for a 5-star in the 2024 recruiting class

Tom Izzo has sent an offer to 5-star Bryson Tucker of IMG Academy while conducting an in-home visit last week. Tucker is a 6-foot-6 small forward that is in the 2024 recruiting class.

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Tucker is spending his time playing high school basketball at IMG Academy.

According to 247Sports, Tucker ranks as the No. 7 overall recruit in the 2024 class while ranking as the No. 4 small forward.
