Gators land in top 10 for this 4-star offensive tackle

The Gators made the cut for four-star offensive tackle Michael Uini on Thursday as he narrowed things down to a top 10.

Four-star Copperas Cove (Texas) offensive tackle [autotag]Michael Uini[/autotag] is down to 10 programs: Florida, Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, Oregon, USC, Texas and Texas Christian.

As the 20th-best player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports composite, Uini’s offers were ballooning and he had to cut things down. He passed on offers from Auburn, LSU, Michigan State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M among others. The 247Sports composite also ranks Uini at No. 112 overall in the class of 2024 and No. 10 among players at his position.

Since Uini’s announcement, Florida quarterback commit [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag] has publicly recruited him on Twitter. He’s not shying away from any Florida connections, but most consider Baylor and Texas as the favorites for now, according to 247Sports. Uini praised both programs and said proximity helped them get ahead early.

He hasn’t scheduled any spring visits yet, but getting on campus should help open Uini up to life outside of Texas. Right now, Uini is looking at the teams that are talking to him the most and forming connections with him. The vetting process should get a bit more serious now that a second stage has begun.

Uini plans to take things slow and wait until the middle of his senior year or after to commit.

Top-10 OT in 2024 puts Ducks among his final schools

Michael Uini is the No. 6 OT in the 2024 class, and he’s looking hard at Adrian Klemm and the Ducks.

It’s been interesting to see a trend start to grow over the past year as we get a glimpse of what Oregon Ducks’ offensive line coach Adrian Klemm wants in his players. Now that we’ve got a year of Klemm on the job, and have been able to see the type of guys that he recruits to Eugene, it’s clear that one of the biggest attributes that he is looking for is pure size.

In the 2022 class, we saw Oregon sign guys like Josh Conerly, Dave Iuli, and Kawika Rogers, all of whom are over 6-foot-5, 290 pounds. In 2023, we saw the Ducks sign George Silva, who is 6-foot-7, 295, and get a transfer from Ajani Cornelius, who is 6-foot-4, 315 pounds.

Klemm appears to like big bodies on the OL, so he should be thrilled to see the Ducks land in the top 10 for 2024 4-star OT Michael Uini, a 6-foot-7, 290-pounder out of Texas.

Uini is rated as the No. 6 OT in 2024 and No. 112 overall player in the nation for next year’s class. He narrowed his recruitment down to 10 schools on Thursday, keeping the Ducks in the mix with teams like Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, and USC.

We will see in the coming months if Uini chooses to take a visit out to Eugene, but it’s clear that he’s looking at the Ducks early on in his recruitment.

Gators extend scholarship offer to this top 2024 offensive tackle

Florida extends an offer to this 2024 Lone Star State offensive lineman.

The summer season is slowly waning as the 2022 college football campaign steadily approaches. The Florida Gators are preparing for their gridiron grind this coming fall but [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] and Co. are also still burning the midnight oil over future recruiting classes. Among the many offers recently handed out by the program, one was given to four-star offensive tackle [autotag]Michael Uini[/autotag] out of Copperas Cove in Texas.

The massive 6-foot-7-inch, 275-pound rising junior received a scholarship offer last Wednesday after being eyed by the staff for a while. The courtship actually dates back to Napier’s tenure with the Lousiana Ragin’ Cajuns, where the young lineman first caught one coach’s attention.

“One of Florida’s recruiters, he has actually been keeping an eye on me since he was at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette,” Uini told Gators Online. “We spoke a couple of months ago, but after that, I haven’t spoken to him. I guess Florida has been showing interest because ever since I got the Baylor offer, coach Napier followed me on Twitter and then a couple of other coaches followed me as well. That’s how far it has gone as far as showing interest.”

But the Orange and Blue are not the only ones showing interest in the talented Texan. So far, the Alabama Crimson Tide, USC Trojans, LSU Tigers, Texas Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies and Oklahoma Sooners have also offered him, among many others. In fact, the Georgia Bulldogs just recently extended an offer as well.

Uini is ranked No. 63 overall and No. 4 at his position in his class nationally according to the 247Sports composite, while the On3 consensus has him at Nos. 42 and 3, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has the ‘Horns out front with a 27.4% chance of signing him, with the Aggies second at 24% and ‘Bama at 20.6%.

UGA football offers 4-star Texas OT

The 6-foot-7, 290-pound offensive lineman took an unofficial visit to Georgia on July 30.

The Georgia Bulldogs have extended a scholarship offer to four-star offensive tackle recruit Michael Uini.

Uini is a member of the class of 2024 and plays high school football for Copperas Cove High School in Copperas Cove, Texas. Copperas Cove is located a little over an hour north of Austin.

The four-star offensive tackle is a good student. Uini already has scholarship offers from top college football programs like Nebraska, USC, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Alabama. Additionally, Uini has been invited to the 2024 Under Armour All-America Game and the 2024 All-American Bowl on NBC.

Oklahoma Sooners offer 2024 top 100 OT prospect out of Texas Michael Uini

Oklahoma extends an offer to 2024 offensive tackle prospect Michael Uini out of Copperas Cove, Texas.

With names like Cayden Green and Payton Kirkland slated to announce in the month of July, the Oklahoma Sooners will know whether or not offensive tackle will be a position of need on the recruiting trail as they get closer and closer to the start of the 2022 season.

Securing the commitments of both in addition to the commitment of Heath Ozaeta, would essentially bring their offensive tackle search to an end for the 2023 recruiting class.

With that in mind, it would only make sense that offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh would start to look for 2024’s crop of offensive tackles. In doing so, Bedenbaugh’s search led him to Copperas Cove, Texas where 2024 offensive tackle Michael Uini resides. Uini received an offer from Oklahoma and according to 247Sports Composite rankings, he’s one of the nation’s 75 best players in the class.

Uini is a massive young man who stands 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds and is not even 18 years old. He is an athletic player and shines blocking off the edge where speed can be a detriment to offensive tackles who are larger than the standard offensive tackles.

His recruitment is still relatively new with no one team really firmly ahead but over the next few months heading into his junior year, he should see his recruitment hit another gear.
