Browns rookie DL expects to be arrested after a disturbing domestic dispute

Browns rookie DL Michael Hall expects to be arrested after a disturbing domestic dispute from Monday night

Cleveland Browns rookie defensive lineman Michael Hall is expected to be arrested after a domestic dispute in his suburban Cleveland home on Monday night, according to Zac Jackson of The Athletic.

Hall is a Cleveland-area native and was a very popular selection as the team’s second-round pick, No. 54 overall by the Browns. He was expected to earn considerable playing time on Cleveland’s strong defense. Hall played collegiately at Ohio State.

Ben Axelrod of Awful Announcing posted some of the police report from the incident, which took place on Monday in Avon, Ohio. Note that some of the language quoted in the report is NSFW.

Jackson updated his own initial report to include this,

“Incident report alleges that Browns DT Mike Hall Jr. pressed a gun against his fiancé’s temple, drug her across a porch and down the driveway.”

As of press time, the Browns have not released any info or statement on Hall.

Cleveland Browns rookie Michael Hall Jr. is expected to be arrested following a domestic dispute that occurred on Monday night, according to The Athletic’s Zac Jackson. No further details about the incident have been reported as of now.

The Browns selected Hall in the second round of the 2024 draft. Hall, a Cleveland native, was the 54th overall selection out of Ohio State. He played three seasons with the Buckeyes, recording 45 total tackles and six sacks in his career.

He entered the 2024 draft following his junior season, during which he had 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Hall is currently a third-string defensive tackle on the Browns’ unofficial depth chart.

The Cleveland Browns get on the board for the first time in the draft and land themselves a big time talent to add depth to an already stacked defensive line in Ohio State defensive lineman Michael Hall Jr.

Hall projects as a player who will see time immediately in a rotation with veterans Shelby Harris and Maurice Hurst and help out next to all-pro pass rusher Myles Garrett.

Agile, explosive, and strong at the point of attack, Hall has all the makings of a steal in the second round and could come out of camp as the full-time starter. Given his NFL level talent, Hall could find himself with a surprise 5+ sack season.

NFL Draft expert lists two Ohio State football players in top 50

NFL Draft expert lists two Buckeyes in top 50 #GoBucks

Nate Tice is a former Big Ten alum, who played quarterback at Wisconsin and transitioned nicely into the media as an analyst for Yahoo. He has grown into one of the more reliable and interesting NFL draft pundits. In addition to bringing intelligent insight from a former player’s point of view, he also makes a few WWE references which are greatly appreciated.

Tice recently released his top 50 Big Board and it features two former Ohio State football stars. It shouldn’t be surprising to see Marvin Harrison Jr. so high on any list as he is widely regarded as a top-five prospect by most experts. Tice has Harrison listed third on his list behind two quarterbacks. He notes under Harrison to not overthink him and that is wise advice that a few “experts” need to take note of.

With the very last spot at number 50, Michael Hall checks in, and like everyone else who has watched Hall, Tice notes the interior defensive lineman’s explosiveness.

2024 NFL draft: Bowl season DT big board

2024 NFL draft: Bowl season defensive tackle big board from Draft Wire’s Jeff Risdon

It’s time to give the big men up front some love. The defensive tackles are always an interesting group to evaluate and ordinate, in part because they come in different sizes and styles of play.

I just dove into a handful of these players in the last week or so, and the more I watch the group, the more I do like the DT class overall. Still need to watch more of most of these guys, as this is more on first impression and preliminary study for all but the top two, who I’ve watched extensively and really like.

Texans stack defensive line in ESPN 2024 mock draft

The Houston Texans continue to add to their dominant defensive line with DT Michael Hall in the latest ESPN 2024 mock draft.

DeMeco Ryans wants an attacking front four; it is one of the aspects of the Houston Texans’ new defense that excites veteran Jerry Hughes.

As the Texans look to improve, they also seek to get younger.

According to Jordan Reid from ESPN, the Texans will use their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft to take Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall.

The Texans need to keep adding talent all over the roster, and the defensive line remains a glaring weakness — even after Houston traded up for Will Anderson Jr. in April. Hall is a quick-footed interior defender who displays burst out of the starting blocks at the snap. He checks a lot of key boxes as a pass-rusher, but his early-down reps as a run defender must improve in 2023. He had 4.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss on only 290 defensive snaps last season.

The pick would be fascinating as the Texans are ostensible loaded at the position with Sheldon Rankins and Hassan Ridgeway. Houston also would be rounding the corner on former 2021 sixth-rounder Roy Lopez, who would be entering the final year of his contract. Not to the mention the Texans invested in 28-year-old Maliek Collins in June with an extension.

Hall established himself as a fascinating defensive line prospect last season with 19 combined tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and a fumble recovery through 12 games.

The Texans do not have a proprietary first-round pick in 2024 as they dealt that pick to the Arizona Cardinals as part of the trade for defensive end Will Anderson. Houston’s participation on Day 1 of the draft would be due to the Cleveland Browns’ selection, which the Texans obtained via 2022 offseason trade.
