Memphis Grizzlies at Miami Heat odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Miami Heat NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (24-23) travel to South Beach Tuesday to play the Miami Heat (26-24) at American Airlines Arena. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Heat odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Memphis has won back-to-back and three of its past four games (4-0 against the spread) including a 116-100 shellacking Sunday of the Philadelphia 76ers as a 3.5-point road underdog.

The Grizzlies are 6-3 overall and 8-1 ATS in their last nine games with the three losses coming against the first-place Utah Jazz.

Miami is beginning to heat up, winning four straight (4-0 ATS) and covering all four following a six-game losing drought.

The Heat are tied for fourth place in the Eastern Conference with the Atlanta Hawks but are only one game ahead of the seventh-place Boston Celtics.

The Grizzlies beat the Heat in an 89-85 “rock fight” as 1-point home favorites in their first regular-season meeting on St. Patrick’s Day.

Grizzlies at Heat: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Heat 106, Grizzlies 104

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight “lean” towards the Grizzlies (+165) since I’m on Memphis to cover the spread.

My hesitation is the Grizzlies will be a little shorthanded and Miami is the healthiest it has been all season and is stacking wins.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

This is just too many points to give Memphis given its obvious matchup edge in the backcourt. Heat taking a flyer on guard Victor Oladipo is good for all involved.

But, there are reasons why Oladipo is playing for his third team this season, one of which is his career-worst 112 defensive rating this season.

Maybe Miami assigns elite defensive wing Jimmy Butler to Memphis PG Ja Morant at the end of halves, but Morant should have a field day against Oladipo, backup PG Goran Dragic and SG Duncan Robinson.

Furthermore, the Heat are a below-average rebounding team and have been reckless with the ball (23rd in offensive turnover rate), which are Memphis’s strengths.

The Grizzlies force the second-highest rate of turnovers and are sixth in offensive-rebounding percentage.

Lastly, Memphis is 8-6 ATS as a road dog and Miami is 8-11-1 ATS as a home favorite.

BET GRIZZLIES +5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 215.5 (-110) for a half unit. Both teams are top-10 in defensive rating and below-average in effective field-goal shooting.

Also, more action and money are on the Over in this spot and I think that’s solely based on the “number is too low” logic. Stylistically, these teams a set up for a slugfest.

Memphis Grizzlies at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Philadelphia 76ers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia 76ers (34-15) host the Memphis Grizzlies (23-23) Sunday at Wells Fargo Center for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-76ers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Since March 20, Memphis is 5-3 straight up (SU) and 7-1 against the spread (ATS). The three losses all came against the first-place Utah Jazz and Memphis covered in two of those games.

Philadelphia took down the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-113 last night in C Joel Embiid’s return to action after a 10-game absence due to a knee injury. The Sixers couldn’t cover as 13.5-point favorites.

Memphis beat Philly 106-104 as a 1.5-point home favorite in the first meeting of the season Jan. 16, but Embiid didn’t play.

Grizzlies at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 113, 76ers 110

Money line (ML)

Based on the current price of this game, I’d assume Embiid’s game status is closer to doubtful than questionable, otherwise, Philly would be more expensive here.

Wait until as close to tip-off as possible before making a wager, but GRIZZLIES (+145) is definitely the play if Embiid is out, otherwise just stick with Memphis plus the points.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The most effective part of Embiid’s game is his ability to get to the foul line and he leads the NBA in free-throw attempts per game. In Philly’s win last night over Minnesota, Embiid connected on only 42.9% of his shots but he was 12-for-17 from the charity stripe.

Memphis C Jonas Valančiūnas is in the 96th percentile of bigs for on-off court defensive FT-rate, according to CleaningTheGlass.com, so even if Embiid is playing, he might not get to the line as much as he’s accustomed to.

Finally, the Sixers are second in defensive rating but struggle defensively in transition—last in fast-break points allowed per game—while the Grizzlies lead the Association in fast-break points per game.

Again, hold off on making a bet until closer to game time, but for now I “LIKE” GRIZZLIES +4 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Slight “LEAN” toward UNDER 226.5 (-110) for a half-unit because my thought is Embiid will not play and the first Grizzlies-76ers game without Embiid went Under the total by 12 points.

Also, the market has steamed this total up from the 224.5-point opener to the current total and I’d rather “fade” the market than follow it in this spot.

Philly played to the Under in seven of its last 10 games and Memphis has gone Under in two straight.

I prefer the Grizzlies +4 (-110) more than the total but if you must, TAKE UNDER 226.5 (-110) for a small wager.

Memphis Grizzlies at Houston Rockets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Houston Rockets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (21-22) drop by Toyota Center Monday for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off against the Houston Rockets (13-32). Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Rockets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Memphis dropped back-to-back games at the Utah Jazz following a three-game win streak. The Grizzlies are 4-4 straight up (SU) and 5-3 against the spread (ATS) in the last two weeks.

Houston split its last four games SU and ATS with the latest game being a 129-107 beatdown of the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday. The Rockets lost 20 straight games before their March 22 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Houston’s last win prior to that 20-game losing skid was against Memphis Feb. 4, but the Rockets were routed 133-84 by the Grizzlies Feb. 28.

Grizzlies at Rockets: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:10 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Grizzlies -350 (bet $350 to win $100) | Rockets +275 (bet $100 to win $275)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Grizzlies -8 (-110) | Rockets +8 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 226.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Grizzlies at Rockets: Key injuries

Grizzlies

  • PF Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) out

Rockets

  • SG Eric Gordon (groin) out
  • SF David Nwaba (wrist) out

Grizzlies at Rockets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 119, Rockets 115

Money line (ML)

Slight LEAN toward ROCKETS (+275) because Houston’s play should improve as it gets healthier and builds togetherness under rookie head coach Stephen Silas.

The Grizzlies are winning 66.7% of their games as a road favorite this season and their implied win probability is 77.8% based on the money line odds. Also, Memphis is a young team that’ll put up an occasional clunker.

Houston plus the points is a far better bet so I’m only on ROCKETS (+275) for a one-tenth-unit, pending the final injury report.

(The predicted score is an honest projection.)

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

If Wood is given the green light by Houston to play in this game then I like the ROCKETS +8 (-110) because he and newly acquired big Kelly Olynyk can open up driving lanes against the Grizzlies.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Wood is in the 98th percentile of bigs in on-off court team effective field-goal percentage (eFG%) and Olynyk is in the 90th percentile of bigs in team on-off court points per 100 possessions while playing for the Miami Heat.

Furthermore, this is a Pros vs. Joes game within the betting market; according to Pregame.com, nearly 70% of the money wagered is on the Rockets to cover but 83% of the bets have been placed on the Grizzlies.

Since the sharp side of the market is typically the money column whereas the tickets column is the average joe, let’s follow the money and BET ROCKETS +8 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Houston’s path to victory on this one is by outscoring Memphis, not shutting them down. The Grizzlies are much bigger and more physical but just 21st in defensive eFG%.

Since we are getting to the party a little late (the total has been steamed up from the 221.5-point opener), I can only LEAN OVER 226.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit.

Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (21-21) remain on the road to play the Utah Jazz (33-11) for the second straight day Saturday with a 9 p.m. ET tip-off at Vivint Arena. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Jazz odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Memphis had a three-game win streak snapped by Utah in a 117-114 loss Thursday. The Grizzlies clawed back from a 21-point deficit to sneak in the backdoor and cover the spread as 10-point underdogs.

Utah won its fourth game in a row and is 6-2 straight up but only 3-5 against the spread since the All-Star break. The Jazz are pummeling foes at home with a plus-13.4-point margin of victory and winning 18 straight games in Utah.

Utah is 4-1 straight up and 3-2 ATS vs. Memphis since the Grizzlies drafted PG Ja Morant in 2019.

Grizzlies at Jazz: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:45 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Grizzlies +350 (bet $100 to win $350) | Jazz -450 (bet $450 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Grizzlies +9.5 (-110) | Jazz -9.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 227.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Grizzlies at Jazz: Key injuries

Grizzlies

  • PF Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) out

Jazz

  • Nothing affecting the betting odds.

Grizzlies at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 117, Jazz 113

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight lean toward Grizzlies (+350) because I like Memphis plus the points and it’s been tough for teams to beat opponents in back-to-back games; however, fading the Jazz at home this season would’ve depleted your bankroll.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME the GRIZZLIES +9.5 (-110) for 1.25 units.

Memphis has much better ball security than Utah, who is 20th in offensive turnover rate and has the lowest defensive turnover rate in the Association. The Grizzlies turn the ball over at the fifth-lowest rate and force the second-highest rate of turnovers.

The main area I could see some improvement for Memphis in this game would be the matchup between centers.

Jazz C Rudy Gobert outscored Grizzlies C Jonas Valančiūnas 25-14 and held him to 35.7% shooting, which is more of an outlier performance for Gobert when you look at the head-to-head history of the two.

Also, this is a Pros vs. Joes scenario in the betting market with more money coming in on Memphis but more bets have been placed on Utah, according to Pregame.com.

The money column is usually considered the sharp side of the market whereas the tickets column represents the average joe. Obviously, it’s better to roll with the sharps than Barney at the Bar.

BET GRIZZLIES +9.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a LEAN toward Over 227.5 (-110) because the scoring was a little top-heavy for both teams last night and I expect some of the role players to have better shooting days.

Also, there was a pretty good pace to yesterday’s game with the Grizzlies attempting 97 shots (averaging an NBA-high 92.1 field-goal attempts per game) and the Jazz put up 98 shots (averaging 88.3 field goal attempts per game).

There just isn’t enough margin between my predicted score and BetMGM‘s projected total for me to wager on it.

Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Utah Jazz (32-11) host the Memphis Grizzlies (21-20) Friday at the Vivint Smart Home Arena for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Jazz odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Memphis has won three in a row and four of its last five games (4-1 ATS) including a 116-107 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder as a 7-point road favorite.

Utah has also won three straight with two straight 25-plus-point blowouts against the Brooklyn Nets without their Big 3 Wednesday and at the Chicago Bulls Monday.

The Jazz won three of four meetings last regular season against the Grizzlies including three straight and were 3-1 ATS in those contests.

Grizzlies at Jazz: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 5:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Grizzlies +350 (bet $100 to win $350) | Jazz -450 (bet $450 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Grizzlies +9.5 (-110) | Jazz -9.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 228.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Grizzlies at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 118, Grizzlies 113

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean toward Grizzlies (+350) because I like Memphis plus the points but the Jazz (-450) haven’t lost at home in 2021. That’s right, Utah has a 17-game home winning streak and I’m not fading that trend.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME 1 unit on GRIZZLIES +9.5 (-110) for a few reasons.

First, the Jazz don’t force a lot of turnovers (dead-last in defensive turnover rate), are ranked 21st in offensive turnover percentage and, this month, Utah is 25th in points off of turnovers allowed per game.

The Grizzlies thrive off of turnovers: Memphis forces the 2nd-highest rate of turnovers and scores the most points off of turnovers per game.

Second, Grizzlies big Jonas Valančiūnas has outplayed Jazz big Rudy Gobert when they’ve gone head-to-head.

In 16 career meetings, Valančiūnas’ team is 11-5 overall and he’s shooting better from the floor and averaging 3.3 more points per game than Gobert.

Finally, let’s get on the same side as the House since that’s who usually wins in gambling.

According to Pregame.com, nearly 80% of the bets placed have been on the Jazz minus points yet bookmakers are making Utah cheaper, which tells me they want people to take the Jazz.

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 228.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit because both teams should have success on offense.

I’ve already outlined Memphis’s path to getting buckets while the Jazz are 4th in effective field goal shooting (eFG%) and the Grizzlies are 20th in defensive eFG%.

Boston Celtics at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Boston Celtics at Memphis Grizzlies NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (19-20) host the Boston Celtics (21-21) Monday at FedExForum for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Celtics-Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Boston snapped a three-game losing skid Sunday by beating the Orlando Magic 112-96 at home; the Celtics made 23 of 54 3-point attempts in the win. The C’s are just 2-4 straight up and against the spread since the All-Star break with two of those losses coming against teams probably heading toward tank mode in the Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Memphis split a two-game miniseries with the Golden State Warriors, winning the latest installment 111-103 as a 6.5-point home favorite. The Grizzlies have won two of their last three games.

Boston trampled Memphis 126-107 in the first meeting of the season as a 7-point home favorite. Grizzlies PG Ja Morant missed the game due to a sprained ankle.

Celtics at Grizzlies: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:55 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Celtics +110 (bet $100 to win $110) | Grizzlies -135 (bet $135 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Celtics +2 (-110) | Grizzlies -2 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 219.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Celtics at Grizzlies: Key injuries

  • PF Tristan Thompson (health and safety protocols) probable
  • PG Kemba Walker (rest) out

Celtics at Grizzlies: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 115, Celtics 111

Money line (ML)

Slight LEAN toward GRIZZLIES (-135) because it’s on the fringe of a playable money line and I don’t hate just taking Memphis to cover as a 2-point favorite and win by at least 3 points instead.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

LEAN GRIZZLIES -2 (-110) because again either the spread or money line works here.

Boston has the second-lowest cover rate as the road team at 7-15 ATS, is 3-9 ATS as a road favorite and Memphis is 13-10 ATS at home. Also, the Celtics played Sunday and are just 3-7 ATS in games where they have a rest disadvantage.

The Grizzlies are a tough team to match up against if you’re playing on tired legs. Memphis has a highly aggressive style and is always crashing the offensive glass.

Memphis scores the third-most second-chance points per game and Boston is 25th in second-chance points allowed per game.

Finally, according to Pregame.com, the sharp side of the market (the money column) is backing the Grizzlies and the average joes are taking the Celtics. Obviously, we know which side is usually more profitable.

Again, GRIZZLIES -2 (-110) is the right side here.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both teams figure to have success on offense because they each attempt a high volume of mid-range shots and neither team plays good defense vs. mid-range attempts.

Boston attempts the eighth-highest rate of mid-range shots and Memphis has the fourth-worst defensive mid-range field-goal percentage, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

While the Celtics are 26th in defensive mid-range shooting percentage and Memphis takes the third-highest rate of mid-range shots.

LEAN toward OVER 219.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit.

Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Golden State Warriors at Memphis Grizzlies NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Golden State Warriors (22-20) play the Memphis Grizzlies (18-20) Saturday at FedExForum on the heels of Golden State’s 116-103 head-to-head win Friday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Warriors-Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Golden State needed someone to step up last night against the Grizzlies in the wake of PG Steph Curry’s absence and SF Andrew Wiggins answered the call.

Wiggins erupted for a season-high 40 points on 58.3% shooting (54.5% from 3-point range) with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

On the other side of the floor, Memphis was careless with the ball, losing the turnover battle 20-13, No Grizzlies player scored more than 14 points.

The Warriors notched their third win in four games (3-1 against the spread) and their only losses over their last 10 games have been to Pacific Division opponents, all of which are in the top-5 of the Western Conference standings.

Memphis has lost four of its previous five games (2-3 ATS) while having the fourth-worst offensive rating and fourth-worst effective field-goal percentage over that span.

Grizzlies 112, Warriors 103

Money line (ML)

PASS since I think Memphis will bounce back to win this game, especially if Curry is out again, but there’s no way I’d lay -225 with the Grizzlies after how they performed against the Warriors Friday.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Slight lean on GRIZZLIES -5.5 (-110) because aside from Wiggins, SGs Jordan Poole and Damion Lee who combined for 86 points last night, no other Warriors player shot well.

Only two other Warriors players hit a 3-pointer Friday and one of them was starting C Kevon Looney who has made only 10 3-pointers in his six-year career.

We’ve seen a number of teams this season win the second half of a two-game miniseries in what’s been called the recent revenge spot and Memphis should ratchet up the defensive intensity for this meeting.

Since they aren’t a good shooting team, I only lean GRIZZLIES -5.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both teams are bottom-10 offensive-rated teams, the Grizzlies have the 25th-highest FTA/FG rate and the Warriors are 15th in FTA/FG rate, but that’s with Curry in the lineup.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Golden State’s free-throw rate increases by more than six percentage points when Curry is on the floor compared to off, which is in the 96th percentile for point guard on-off ratings.

GIMME UNDER 218.5 (-110) for 1.25 units as the best play in Warriors-Grizzlies.

Grizzlies at Thunder: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 116, Thunder 100

Money line (ML)

The Grizzlies (-225) are looking to make it a terrible weekend homestand for the Thunder (+190). OKC was roughed up 119-97 as short ‘dogs on their home floor against the Knicks in Saturday’s matinee action, and now they have to contend with the red-hot Grizz.

However, you can’t risk two and a half times your potential return, as that’s not a good long-term wagering strategy.

AVOID, and look to the spread.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES -5.5 (-110) are coming off a 103-102 loss at home against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, but they have won three of the past five while covering in all five of the outings.

They also topped OKC by a 122-113 score on Feb. 17 on the banks of the Mississippi River, covering a 7-point number as the Over (227) connected. Look for another MEMPHIS WIN and COVER on OKC’s home hardwood.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 220.5 (-105) is the lean here, as OKC has really had difficulty scoring the basketball of late. They have posted 107 or fewer points in four of the past five, and they have 97 or fewer points in three of those outings.

While the Over hit in the first meeting with Memphis, that’s a rarity for the Grizzlies. Memphis has hit the Under in seven of its past eight overall.

Milwaukee Bucks at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Memphis Grizzlies NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Milwaukee Bucks (21-14) travel to the FedExForum Thursday to play the Memphis Grizzlies (16-15) at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Bucks-Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Milwaukee got routed by Denver, 128-97, at home at 8-point favorites Tuesday, snapping a 5-game winning streak (4-1 ATS). If the Bucks ain’t covering then they are getting crushed: Five of Milwaukee’s previous six ATS losses have been by at least an 11.5-point ATS margin.

The Grizzlies have won two straight and three of their last four games with each win being by at least 14 points and a 15-point ATS margin. Over those four games, Memphis is shooting 40.6% from three and winning the turnover battle 18-11 on average.

These teams split last season’s series 1-1 overall and ATS. Milwaukee’s win came in Memphis, and the Grizzlies beat the Bucks without MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo during the NBA restart in the Orlando bubble.

Bucks at Grizzlies: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Bucks -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Grizzlies +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Bucks -6 (-110) | Grizzlies +6 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 233.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Bucks at Grizzlies: Key injuries

Bucks

Nothing affecting the betting odds.

  • SG Grayson Allen (concussion) out
  • PF Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) out

Bucks at Grizzlies: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 121, Grizzlies 108

Money line (ML)

PASS since I’m on Milwaukee to win and cover, but the Bucks (-275) is too expensive for them or any NBA regular-season favorite for that matter.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Grizzlies thrive off of production NBA’s “miscellaneous” metrics such as points off of turnover (1st), fast-break points (2nd) and paint points per game (1st).

However, Milwaukee’s defense is essentially the best in the Association in these metrics—top-6 in each category—and Memphis’s 3-point shooting isn’t good enough to take advantage of the Bucks’ 23rd ranked 3-point defense.

Also, first-year Bucks guard Jrue Holiday is back in the lineup after missing time with COVID-19, and Holiday neutralized Grizzlies 2019-20 Rookie of the Year guard Ja Morant when they went head-to-head last season.

Morant scored just 14.3 points per game on .362/.200/.750 shooting whereas Holiday gave him 23.0 points per game on .556/.556/.818 shooting in their three meetings last year.

GIMME BUCKS -6 (-110) for 1 unit.

(Let me caveat this handicap with a reminder to wait as close to tip-off as possible to wager because star players could be held out of the game since it’s the final day before the All-Star break).

Over/Under (O/U)

TAKE UNDER 233.5 (-110) for 1 unit because this is a Pros vs. Joes situation within the betting market. Meaning more money is on the Under while more bets have been placed on the Over.

Because the money column of the betting splits usually indicates sharp money and the tickets column is square money, we should follow the money in Bucks-Grizzlies.

Furthermore, if both teams send out the projected lineups, I don’t see the Grizzlies being able to uphold its end of the scoring margin.

Memphis Grizzlies at Houston Rockets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Houston Rockets NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Memphis Grizzlies (14-15) travel to the Toyota Center Sunday to play the Houston Rockets (11-20) at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Grizzlies-Rockets odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Grizzlies split a two-game miniseries with the Los Angeles Clippers, where each team won by at least 20 points, and they have lost three of their previous four games. The other two losses were to a red-hot Phoenix Suns team and a surging Dallas Mavericks.

Houston has plummeted since losing starting big Christian Wood and has lost all 10 games he has been out of the lineup. Over that stretch, the Rockets have the lowest-rated offense and the worst rebounding rate.

The Rockets routed the Grizzlies 115-103 in the first meeting this season, but Wood was active in that game and starting Memphis big Jonas Valanciunas didn’t play.

Grizzlies at Rockets: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 2:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Grizzlies -190 (bet $190 to win $100) | Rockets +155 (bet $100 to win $155)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Grizzlies -4.5 (-110) | Rockets +4.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 223.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Grizzlies at Rockets: Key injuries

Grizzlies

  • SG Grayson Allen (concussion) out
  • PF Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee) out

Rockets

  • C Christian Wood (ankle) out
  • SG Victor Oladipo (rest) out

Grizzlies at Rockets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Grizzlies 116, Rockets 108

Money line (ML)

PASS because I like Memphis to win, but the Grizzlies (-190) is too expensive for an NBA regular-season favorite.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The GRIZZLIES -4.5 (-110) play the exact style that the Rockets aren’t equipped to play against. For instance, Memphis scores the 4th-most fast-break points per game and Houston is 29th in fast-break points per game allowed.

Furthermore, the Grizzlies scores the most paint points per game, and big Valanciunas should feast on a Rockets defense missing their best interior presence and rim protector in Wood.

Finally, there are a couple of notable pro-Grizzlies situational trends for this game including the Rockets being 1-5 ATS at home against losing teams and as a home underdog.

TAKE GRIZZLIES -4.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS with a lean on Over 223.5 (-110), but my predicted score aligns with BetMGM‘s projection – so I cannot bet it.

However, both teams play at a top-10 pace, and if the Grizzlies aren’t forcing turnovers, their defense isn’t that good. Memphis is ranked 27th in defensive effective field goal shooting, and the Over has cashed in four of Houston’s previous six games.
