The Reese’s Senior Bowl continued practices on Wednesday, with at least two high-ranking members of the Chargers scouting team in Mobile, AL to watch some of this year’s top draft prospects.
Here’s who stood out on the defensive side of the ball.
WR Jason Brownlee is out and offensive tackle Carter Warren is doubtful for Week 15 against the Dolphins.
The Jets released their injury report and game statuses Friday for their Week 15 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Two players — QB Aaron Rodgers and WR Jason Brownlee — are listed as out. With Rodgers practicing, he has been listed on the injury report but has yet to be activated from injured reserve. The Jets have until Wednesday to do so.
Rodgers was listed as a limited participant Thursday and Friday and was even starting to push his practice habits a little. Brownlee did not practice all week with an ankle injury.
Offensive tackle Carter Warren is doubtful for Sunday with a hip injury. After missing Week 14 against the Houston Texans, Warren did not practice all week, likely causing him to miss another game. Max Mitchell would get another start at right tackle if Warren cannot go…if Mitchell plays himself. Mitchell is questionable with a neck injury. He was limited all week.
Also listed as questionable for the Jets: DE John Franklin-Myers (ankle), FB Nick Bawden (knee), C Joe Tippmann (shoulder) and DE Will McDonald (knee). Franklin-Myers, Bawden and Tippmann all practiced in full Friday while McDonald was a late add Friday with a knee injury and did not practice.
Quarterback Zach Wilson was on the report with a knee injury but practiced in full all week. He is good to go for Sunday.
For the Dolphins, safety DeShon Elliott (concussion) and guard Robert Hunt (hamstring) are both out. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill highlights the questionable Dolphins as he did not practice all week with an ankle injury.
Also listed as questionable for the Dolphins: RB De’Von Achane (toe), OT Terron Armstead (knee/ankle), OL Liam Eichenberg (calf), FS Jevon Holland (knees), CB Xavien Howard (hip), OT Austin Jackson (oblique) and OLB Andrew Van Ginkel (oblique). All were listed as limited participants Friday.
Jets elevate Xavier Newman, Malik Taylor from practice squad for Week 10
The Jets elevated an offensive lineman from the practice squad, but it was not Rodger Saffold. It will be Xavier Newman getting the call-up once again. He and wide receiver Malik Taylor were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
#Jets roster moves: They have elevated G Xavier Newman-Johnson and WR Malik Taylor for tomorrow's game. Newman-Johnson could start at RG.
QB Trevor Siemian was not added to the roster, so Tim Boyle remains the QB2.

Newman is now a likely candidate to start at right guard with the Jets likely moving Max Mitchell to right tackle. Duane Brown and Billy Turner are both out for Sunday’s game. Brown was not activated from injured reserve this week while Turner is out with a finger injury.
This is the third elevation for Newman, the maximum allowed for a practice-squad player. If the Jets want to bring him up from the practice squad again, they have to sign him to the 53-man roster. Newman saw time at center against the Giants in Week 8 following injuries to Connor McGovern and Wes Schweitzer.
Taylor is being elevated for the second time this season. His first was last week against the Chargers. He caught one pass for seven yards in New York’s 27-6 loss last Monday.
Here are 6 Jets to watch in Sunday night’s matchup against the Raiders in Week 10.
The New York Jets will be on primetime (once again) in Week 10 in a road matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. It was a forgettable outing from the Jets versus the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night in Week 9, losing 27-6.
The Jets now hold a 4-4 record entering Sunday’s contest, and there are odds of clinching a spot in the playoffs are dwindling. Meanwhile, the Raiders are coming off a win against the New York Giants in Week 9 as Antonio Pierce made his coaching debut following the firing of Josh McDaniels.
In what is essentially a must-win game for the Jets, here are six players to keep an eye on in Week 10.
Here are six players from the Jets to watch in the team’s Week 6 showdown with the Eagles.
The New York Jets will be tested in Week 6 with a home matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. The showdown versus the Eagles comes a week after the Jets cruised to a 31-21 victory over the Denver Broncos on the road to avoid a 1-4 start to the season.
Meanwhile, the Eagles took down the Los Angeles Rams 23-14 in Week 5 to improve to 5-0 on the season. The Eagles are one of the most well-rounded teams in the NFL, making this arguably the toughest game the Jets will play this season.
With the Jets looking to hand the Eagles their first loss of the season, here are six players to keep an eye on.
We have some insight on Mitchell’s placement on the NFI list this week.
We have some insight as to why rookie offensive tackle Max Mitchell was placed on the non-football injury list Wednesday, ending his season.
Per Connor Hughes of SNY, the reason is that doctors found blood clots in Mitchell. Fortunately, Mitchell is good and is in good spirits. The doctors seem to have found the clots early enough to treat them. The issue is not believed to be long-term nor is it believed to threaten Mitchell’s playing career, which is great news both on the field and off the field.
Max Mitchell was placed on the NFI because doctors found he had blood clots, sources tell @SNYtv.
He is good & in good spirits. Grateful doctors caught them when they did.
This is not believed to be long-term, career-threatening issue. #Jets

Mitchell appeared in six games with five starts at right tackle as a rookie. He started the first four games before suffering a knee injury in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He returned to action in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears and returned to the starting lineup in Week 13 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Max Mitchell’s season is over
New York Jets’ offensive tackle Max Mitchell has been placed on the non-football injury list and is out for the rest of the season.
Head coach Robert Saleh did not get into specifics on the injury. He would just say that Mitchell’s season is over.
Robert Saleh says OL Max Mitchell is going on the non-football injury list and will miss the rest of the season. #Jets

As a result, George Fant is back entrenched as the starting right tackle. Fant took over for Mitchell during Sunday’s loss to the Vikings as Mitchell was struggling.
With Fant as the starter and Mitchell and Cedric Ogbuehi out, Mike Remmers is the backup to Fant at right tackle.
Max Mitchell is officially back
Max Mitchell is officially back. The Jets announced Saturday that they have activated the rookie offensive tackle from injured reserve and he will rejoin the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.
Mitchell had been out since injuring his knee in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and returned to practice on November 16. He started the first three games of the season at right tackle, a spot he may return to on Sunday.
Tanzel Smart will make his second appearance on the gameday roster after being elevated from the practice squad for a second week in a row. He recorded two tackles in 18 snaps last week against the Patriots.
Chazz Surratt is being elevated for the first time season as the Jets add depth at the linebacker after waiving Marcell Harris, who has been signed to the practice squad. Surratt is making his first appearance for the Jets in his second year in the NFL. He was a third-round pick for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021, appearing in nine games.
With Harris joining the practice squad, the Jets released offensive lineman Chris Glaser from the practice squad.
We've activated OL Max Mitchell.
Additionally, we've elevated LB Chazz Surratt and DL Tanzel Smart for tomorrow's game.

A few injury updates from the Jets including Max Mitchell returning to practice this week.
The Jets received a bit of good news on the offensive line front Monday. Head coach Robert Saleh told the media this week that offensive tackle Max Mitchell (knee) will be designated to return from injured reserve this week and return to practice.
This will open the 21-day window for the Jets to officially activate Mitchell back on the roster. Perhaps the Jets do that this week and he returns against the Patriots, but regardless, Mitchell will be back soon. He has not played since injuring his knee in Week 4 against the Steelers.
On the flip side, it will be another week of waiting for fellow offensive tackle George Fant (knee). He will not return to practice this week and remain on injured reserve for at least another week. Fant went down in Week 3 against the Bengals.
Other quick injury updates provided by Saleh Monday include wide receiver Corey Davis (knee) still considered day-to-day and defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (elbow) will be out this week. Davis has missed the last two games since suffering his knee injury against the Broncos in Week 7 while Rankins went down with his elbow injury against the Bills in Week 9.
Duane Brown activated and will start Sunday, Max Mitchell to IR
The Jets have officially activated left tackle Duane Brown from injured reserve and he will start Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, his first start as a Jet. In a corresponding move, the Jets placed offensive tackle Max Mitchell on injured reserve.
Brown returned to practice this week after spending the first four weeks of the season on IR with a shoulder injury. The Jets had 21 days to activate Brown to the 53-man roster, but they wasted little time as Brown practiced in some capacity all week and felt very good. He will finally make his Jets debut in the team’s first divisional game of the season against the Dolphins.
Mitchell injured his knee during Sunday’s win over the Steelers and the Jets had said injured reserve was a possibility for Mitchell. It’s not a season-ending injury for Mitchell, which is good news. The earliest Mitchell can return is November 6 against the Bills, however the Jets have their bye the following week, so it would be more likely Mitchell would return November 20 against the Patriots than the 6th.
The Jets also elevated linebacker Hamseh Nasirildeen from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday. The Jets continue to deal with injuries at the linebacker position, namely Quincy Williams, who is out again with an ankle injury. This is Nasirildeen’s second elevation to the practice squad, having also been elevated last week against the Steelers.
We've activated T Duane Brown from IR and placed T Max Mitchell on IR.
We've also elevated LB Hamsah Nasirildeen for tomorrow's game.
