Two former Michigan State football players now together in NFL

Two former Spartans are now teammates at the next level

Michigan State football is known as a brotherhood, and is cited as being one of the best family atmospheres in all of the country.

It is always great to see former Spartans move on to the NFL, and more importantly succeed in the NFL, but it is even cooler to see two Spartans link up in the NFL together.

In the case of Michigan State, they are bringing an old TE room straight into the NFL.

Matt Sokol has been a member of the Chargers since 2019 when he signed there as an undrafted free agent. Matt Seybert is now getting his chance to show off what he can do.

Michigan State Football will host a Pro Day on March 24 as their players hope to impress NFL Scouts to either get selected in the NFL Draft or find a home in free agency or on a practice squad. Pro Days can be extremely helpful for under-the-radar players to continue their football careers, and the last batch of Spartan alums did not have the opportunity to showcase their skills.

The 2019 seniors had their Pro Day canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to MSU tight end Matt Seybert posting his own virtual Pro Day on Twitter. Now, he and the other 2019 MSU seniors will finally have their chance at a Pro Day.

On Tuesday, Darien Harris, the Spartans’ Director of Player Engagement, announced that the team is letting those 2019 seniors participate in the 2021 Pro Day.

Matt Wenzel of MLive already got a great quote from Seybert on the opportunity:

While the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic has interrupted the day-to-day lives of millions of people around the world, along with many of our sports and entertainment outlets, there are some individuals on the periphery who are affected in a fairly unique way: college athletes vying for a shot in pro sports. While the NFL Draft is still scheduled as planned, the opportunity for less high-profile players to showcase their skills at Pro Days around the country has disappeared. Michigan State tight end Matt Seybert took matters into his own hands on Tuesday, doing his own ‘virtual Pro Day’ on Twitter with a 225 lb bench press test.

Here is Seybert imploring the school not to cancel Pro Day last week:

Michigan State fans, friends, and players were quick to encourage Seybert as he continues to try and realize his dream of playing pro football:
