Alvin Kamara tied up Mark Ingram II’s record for Saints touchdown runs

Another week, another record. Alvin Kamara tied up Mark Ingram II’s record for Saints touchdown runs after scoring twice against the Colts:

Another week, another record for Alvin Kamara. Kamara scored a pair of touchdown runs in Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts to put his career total at 51 scoring runs, which is impressive by itself. But that also ties the record his old teammate Mark Ingram II set for rushing touchdowns in a Saints uniform. One more will break it.

Kamara has already broken his tie with Ingram for the most two-point conversions in Saints franchise history, having also taken the record for the most touchdowns scored for New Orleans from Marques Colston. He still has a lot of football left to play before he’ll call it a career, but Kamara is already one of the most-accomplished players to ever suit up in black and gold.

Alvin Kamara broke another Saints franchise record with his latest two-point conversion

Alvin Kamara broke another Saints franchise record with his latest two-point conversion. He’s also now tied with Travis Kelce for the league lead among active players:

Look, times are tough for the New Orleans Saints these days, and we’ll take our doses of positivity when we can. So it’s worth celebrating Alvin Kamara’s latest accomplishment — not long after the dynamic running back broke Marques Colston’s record for touchdowns scored in a Saints uniform, Kamara laid claim to another record: the team’s high-water mark for two-point conversions.

Kamara went into last week’s game with the Jacksonville Jaguars locked in a tie with his old teammate Mark Ingram II, both players having successfully converted four two-point tries in their Saints careers. But Kamara caught a quick pass from Derek Carr to walk into the end zone untouched for his fifth two-point conversion. That play tied the game after a frightful first three quarters, though the Saints ultimately weren’t able to pull off the win.

Still, it’s just the latest achievement in Kamara’s impressive NFL career. Hopefully he and Carr can link up with more scoring plays like this one to help the Saints offense get back on track, though you’d like to see Carr taking greater advantage of the talent stacked up for him at wide receiver in most situations.

As for Kamara: his five successful two-point conversions are now tied with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for the most among active players, matching the career totals of Pro Football Hall of Famers Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison, and Edgerrin James in a ten-way tie for sixth-place in NFL history. Four players are ahead of them in a tie for second place with six two-point scores (including Ingram, who did it twice in 2019 with the Baltimore Ravens), but everyone is trailing the legendary Marshall Faulk, whose seven two-point conversions are the most in NFL history. Kamara has a real shot at going the distance and surpassing even Faulk someday — strengthening his own Hall of Fame candidacy.

Urban Meyer and Fox Big Noon Kickoff crew picks winner of Ohio State vs. Penn State

Who did each member of the Fox Big Noon Kickoff crew pick to win between Ohio State and Penn State? #GoBucks

It’s game day for the Ohio State football team, but not just any game day. Ohio State is hosting a top ten Penn State squad that could be its biggest challenge of the season to date (no offense Notre Dame).

You know it’s a big one when the two major pregame shows originate from the banks of the Olentangy, and that’s exactly what we have Saturday with Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’s College GameDay in the shadow of Ohio Stadium

The ESPN crew already made their picks, and shortly thereafter, Urban Meyer and and the rest of the crew including Matt Leinart, Brady Quinn, and Mark Ingram all made their predictions and had differing opinions.

Here’s what they all said.

WATCH: Mark Ingram discusses Alabama’s decision to bench Jalen Milroe

Does Mark Ingram have a point?

Alabama will be on the road for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon when they take on the South Florida Bulls from inside Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] has reportedly made an interesting decision entering the matchup with the Bulls, deciding to bench quarterback Jalen Milroe in favor of Notre Dame transfer, Tyler Buchner.

Former Alabama running back, now a college football analyst for FOX, expressed that he believes Coach Saban’s decision was a little bit of an overreaction, claiming that the Crimson Tide has more glaring issues throughout the team.

Watch as Ingram discusses Coach Saban’s decision to start Buchner in place of Milroe.

While Ingram makes the argument that is an overreaction, he also points out that Coach Saban is at practice every day and that he trusts the seven-time national championship-winning head coach to make the best decision for his team.

We’ll find out if that decision will pay off or not when the Crimson Tide takes on South Florida at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.

WATCH: Mark Ingram receives special message in debut on ‘Big Noon Kickoff’

Is someone cutting onions?

As the first Heisman Trophy winner in program history, Mark Ingram has become one of the most beloved former Alabama football players.

Ingram recently hung up his cleats but did not move completely away from the game of football. The former national champion joined FOX as a college football analyst on their flagship show “Big Noon Kickoff”.

On Saturday, during his debut on the show, Ingram was surprised with a message of congratulations from a very special person, Alabama head coach Nick Saban.

Ingram played for Saban from 2008-10 and was an integral part of Coach Saban’s early success and helped build the Alabama program into what it is today.

Congratulations to Mark on his new career and best wishes for continued success!

WATCH: Saints running back legends lead Who Dat Chant before last preseason game

WATCH: Saints running back legends Deuce McAllister, Mark Ingram II, Alvin Kamara lead Who Dat Chant before last preseason game | @DillySanders

The New Orleans Saints treated the fans to a special Who Dat Chant for the last preseason game of the year against the Houston Texans as Deuce McAllister, Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara all took the field to lead the crowd.

It was a nice moment to see who many would consider the three best running backs in franchise history together on the field. Ingram was in town with his new FOX Sports gig, so the Saints took the chance to honor him and give the fans another chance to show their appreciation.

An extra level to the night was that all three backs were wearing the Ingram Jersey numbers with the three numbers that the Heisman Trophy winner wore as a member of the team. McAllister wore the No. 28, Ingram wore the No. 22 and Kamara took the most recent No. 14 (the inverse of his usual No. 41).

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field for the 2023 college football season in 22 days, as Middle Tennessee State visits Bryant Denny Stadium on Sept. 2.

Here at Roll Tide Wire, we will be counting down the days until Nick Saban and his team take the field.

With 22 days remaining, we will take a look at a former Heisman Trophy winner, running back [autotag]Mark Ingram[/autotag].

Ingram made Alabama history by becoming the school’s first Heisman Trophy winner following his super sophomore season in 2009. During his Alabama career, Ingram accumulated 3,261 rushing yards and 42 rushing touchdowns. Ingram would also add another 670 receiving yards and four touchdown receptions.

New Fox Sports analyst says Michigan football is early 2023 favorite

Based! #GoBlue

While Michigan football likes to secure players from in-state, the Wolverines were long ago spurned by one of their own. But perhaps he’s paying it forward now years later.

A native of Flint, Michigan, Mark Ingram ended up going to play college football at Alabama before having a successful pro career. Now that his NFL days are over, he’s supplanting Reggie Bush as one of the new analysts for Fox Sports’ college football coverage.

Newly hired, Ingram wasted no time sharing what team he thinks is the best in college football this year, and he has quite good reasoning as to why he believes that Michigan football is the team to beat in 2023.

“You’ve got Georgia trying to break in a new quarterback, Alabama breaking into a new quarterback. You’ve got Ohio State — Ryan Day, Marvin Harrison Jr. — they’re breaking in a new quarterback,” Ingram said. “You’ve got Michigan returning a quarterback, a double-headed monster at running back, 14 starters on offense and defense.

“So are they the early season favorite? Go blue? Jim Harbaugh and those boys up there? I think so. I kind of like returning starters. You know what I mean? And Michigan, right now, I think is the early favorite.”

The returning experience notion is one we’ve pointed out for years, especially at the quarterback position. Of course, that also requires the team to stay healthy. Youth and inexperience aren’t always a death knell, but experienced teams do tend to perform better as a whole compared to teams breaking in a lot of new talent.

Still, games are played for a reason, so we’ll see what the Wolverines are capable of coming up.

Nonetheless, while Ingram may not have ended up in Ann Arbor, he’s certain to get some new fans in the Great Lakes State with his latest video.

Former Alabama RB Mark Ingram II joining FOX Big Noon Kickoff crew in fall

Former Alabama running back Mark Ingram II will join the Big Noon Kickoff crew at FOX in the fall. Ingram spent last season playing for the New Orleans Saints.

Former Alabama running back and Heisman trophy winner Mark Ingram II will be joining the Big Noon Kickoff crew in the fall. He will work alongside analysts Matt Leinart, Urban Meyer, and Brady Quinn.

Ingram spent three seasons at Alabama before entering the NFL draft. He was named to the All-Freshman Team and was a First-Team All-SEC selection in 2009.

In the 2011 NFL Draft, Ingram was selected No. 28 overall by the New Orleans Saints. The native of Flint, Michigan spent eight seasons playing for the Saints organization.

Since then, he has played for the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. In 2021, Ingram returned to the Saints where he spent the next two seasons.

Following the 2022 season, Ingram became a free agent. Now, Ingram will take on a new role as an on-air analyst on College Football Saturday.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow former Alabama football players in the NFL.

Former New Orleans Saints running back Mark Ingram II has found his first post-football job, joining the FOX college football team as announced on the Fox Sports PR Twitter account.

The Saints-to-TV desk has been a growing trend as Ingram follows in the foot steps of Drew Brees and Sean Payton in joining the analyst ranks out of the NFL. Hopefully the future is brighter for Ingram, with neither Brees or Payton making it past one season. Payton, of course, did leave his television job to return to coaching.

Ingram spent 12 years in the NFL, 10 in New Orleans, rushing for over 8,000 career yards and 65 career touchdowns. Despite how good he was in the NFL, he might be even more qualified as a College Football Analyst with his career at Alabama. He was the first ever Heisman Trophy winner from Alabama, winning the BCS national championship that year as well.
