Jalen Brunson held back tears as Knicks fans chanted ‘MVP’ after his first All-Star nod

This video will give you goosebumps.

New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in his career and it was a well-earned honor.

Brunson, who just narrowly missed a spot in the starting lineup for the Eastern Conference, made the team as a reserve. The guard is having an outstanding campaign for New York and he is currently leading them to one of the best records in the East.

After learning he was an All-Star, the two-time NCAA national champion scored 40 points en route to a victory against the Pacers. During his walk-off interview at Madison Square Garden, the 27-year-old guard was emotional.

Alan Hahn spoke to Brunson following the performance and it was hard for the former Villanova star to find the right words.

Brunson described the evening as “fun” as he looked into the crowd at the world-famous arena.

He was asked about the “MVP” chants coming from the fanbase and once again, Brunson was nearly speechless. He said he had nothing to say as the experience seemed to overwhelm him.

No matter how closely you follow sports, these are the kinds of surreal moments that give you goosebumps.

The Knicks axed Mark Jackson’s reported broadcast job with the team because of an old beef he has with a coach

A rift between Mark Jackson and one of his old coaches got in the way of a job with the Knicks

Somehow, some way, the Knicks will always find a way to bring a tiny bit of chaos to the table. It never fails.

Today’s bit comes from Mark Jackson, who was set to occasionally fill in as the color commentator for Clyde Frazier on the Knicks’ MSG Network broadcast this season after being laid off by ESPN.

Apparently, that’s not happening. Not according to the latest from the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand.

Jackson was set to begin calling games with the Knicks on an upcoming road trip but the team put a stop to it. You’ll absolutely never guess the reason why.

Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama discusses Madison Square Garden debut ahead of game vs. Knicks: ‘Pretty incredible’

Ahead of the San Antonio Spurs’ matchup against the New York Knicks, Victor Wembanyama spoke about making his Madison Square Garden debut.

The San Antonio Spurs take on+ on the New York Knicks tonight and, in the process, will also be looking to bounce back from an ugly 152-111 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Devin Vassell will likely miss the game, so the rest of the Spurs lineup will have to step up in his absence, including rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama.

But an interesting subplot of the contest will be Wembanyama’s NBA debut at Madison Square Garden, an area often heralded for stars’ big-time performances under the bright light of the Big Apple. It’s one of the biggest markets in the world, and everyone knows it.

Ahead of the game, Wembanyama spoke about his feelings about being at the Garden.

LIV Golf hires former Madison Square Garden executive as new Chief Operating Officer

LIV Golf has a new executive after plenty of C-Suite turnover over the last two years.

LIV Golf has a new executive.

A day after the completion of the 2023 team championship event at Trump National Doral, the upstart circuit named Lawrence Burian as its new Chief Operating Officer. Performance 54’s Gary Davidson had been serving as the acting COO after Atul Khosla left the position in December of 2022.

Burian will oversee LIV’s day-to-day business operations as well as lead its corporate development and strategy as the league looks to commercialize its 12 teams.

“Lawrence is a proven leader and a proven winner, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him on our executive leadership team,” said LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman in a statement.

Burian formerly spent time as the Executive Vice President with the Madison Square Garden family of companies and has experience across the sports, entertainment, media and hospitality sectors, areas that are crucial to LIV’s product. Before MSG, Burian worked for a decade at Cablevision Systems Corporation, MSG’s former cable, media, sports and entertainment parent company.

“I am excited to join LIV Golf as Chief Operating Officer and look forward to harnessing my more than two decades of senior executive experience to help build on the progress and momentum that is well underway,” said Mr. Burian.

“Adding Lawrence to the LIV executive team is the clearest indication of the next phase of this league’s growth and future aspirations,” said Davidson. “Lawrence is an excellent addition to the Senior Management team and brings a wealth of experience which will be invaluable as we enter the exciting next phase of the business.”

A mic’d-up Josh Hart unleashed a hilariously bad rendition of Don’t Stop Believin’ during Game 4

Josh Hart traded basketball for singing just for a bit during the Knicks’ playoff win over the Cavs on Sunday.

As the New York Knicks went up 3-1 on the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, Josh Hart couldn’t help but have some musical fun on the sideline.

New York’s 102-93 home victory over Cleveland has the team on the cusp of advancing with one more victory, and Hart’s overall strong play this postseason has been a a big boost there.

With the team playing well, Hart showed off his pipes by belting the beloved Journey pop hit “Don’t Stop Believin'” on the sideline at Madison Square Garden.

Hart jokes in the video that if he were a professional singer, he wouldn’t have been a basketball player. We’ll let you be the judge of his singing abilities.

Hart’s not quite as bad compared to some of the people we hear sing everyday, but he might still be a more formidable presence on the court than on the concert stage.

Nonetheless, he’s giving New York fans plenty to sing about as they celebrate an impressive Knicks postseason so far.

Immanuel Quickley joined NBA history with his outrageous performance in Monday’s Knicks win

New York Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley made HISTORY on Monday night.

New York Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley had one of the best games that the franchise has ever seen on Monday night.

During the team’s 137-115 home win over the Houston Rockets, Quickley became the Knicks’ first player since Nate Robinson in 2010 to score 40 points, record five-plus assists and shoot for 75 percent during the game, per ESPN.

He’s only the fifth New York player to accomplish this feat.

Quickley also joined NBA history in an elite group of players to have such a night (40-plus points, nine-plus assists, more than 77-percent shooting). His name will now be listed alongside basketball legends like Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

The Knicks are a definite factor in the Eastern Conference, and Quickley’s incredible evening only boosts the team’s 2023 playoff momentum.

After the game, Quickley talked about how nervous he was to knock down the two free throws that gave him his first 40-point game.

You can tell how excited he was to have such a historic night at Madison Square Garden in front of the home crowd.

The crowd clearly appreciated Quickley’s performance and gave him “MVP” chants toward the end of the game. He also got plenty of love from the Knicks bench.

Talk about a historic night for one of New York’s best players.

Kansas State’s Markquis Nowell knocked down an unbelievable 3-pointer while falling on a hobbled ankle

What *can’t* Markquis Nowell do?

Kansas State senior guard Markquis Nowell didn’t let a hobbled ankle keep him from making what’s going to be one of the best 3-pointers of the 2023 men’s NCAA tournament.

As the Wildcats took on the Michigan State Spartans in the Sweet 16 round on Thursday, Nowell went down with a rough-looking ankle injury during the game’s second half and missed a good stretch of time.

Once he left, the Spartans went on a run and got back in the game as Kansas State struggled to adjust without their star guard.

However, Nowell returned with a taped-up ankle and immediately knocked down an equalizing trey that brought the house down at Madison Square Garden.

Nowell has been one of the best stories of this year’s tournament. He sure hasn’t let an unintended critique from Kentucky coach John Calipari keep him from dominating whenever he’s on the court.

As Kansas State fought for a spot in the Elite Eight, the team surely was glad that Nowell could return to the game and stop the bleeding with such a beautiful 3-pointer.
