Broncos safety P.J. Locke asks ‘Madden’ to boost his rating after clinching win

Give the man some respect, @EAMaddenNFL!

Madden and NBA 2K are the premier sports video game franchises for gamers, and the professional athletes in them take the game — and their ratings — seriously.

P.J Locke has begun his Madden rating campaign after sealing the Denver Broncos’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3. Locke forced a fumble to help the Broncos clinch a win and move to 2-1.

Now the defensive back is asking EA Sports to reward his big play with a boost in the NFL’s popular video game.

While Madden may or may not reward Locke with a Madden boost, he can be proud of having, so far, one of the stingiest defenses in the league.

The Broncos’ defense has allowed 36 points for a 12-point-a-game average through three games. Denver’s offense found a spark toward the end of the 49ers game, but so far, the defense is the crown jewel unit of the team, while the highly-hyped offense is still trying to find its footing.

As we wait for Madden‘s decision on Locke, tune in this Sunday as the Broncos will gear up to play the division rival Las Vegas Raiders.

Every former Rutgers football player’s rating in Madden 23

With Madden NFL 23 set to release next week, let’s take a look at all of the former Rutgers players ratings

It’s August, which means it’s time for the latest edition of EA Sports video game, Madden NFL 23. This year’s version is the 34th edition in the franchises history. and the 32nd straight annual release. John Madden was announced as the cover star in honor of his death at the end of last year. He last appeared on the cover of Madden NFL 2000.

Most players are loyal, champing at the bit for any news at all about the upcoming release. Last month, EA Sports released their highly anticipated player rankings.

Through both stretches of Greg Schiano’s reign as head coach and every year in between, Rutgers has continued to build strong recruiting classes. With strong development, those classes have led the Scarlet Knights to new heights, and has also resulted in more talent making the jump to the NFL from the New Jersey state university.

Rutgers currently has 19 former stars in the NFL, and 14 of them were rated prior to the release before. Let’s take a look at all of their ratings – from lowest to highest.

Highest-rated Browns in Madden video game history

Our guy @joshkeatley16 did the hard work and found the highest-rated Browns in Madden video game history #Browns #Madden

It was recently announced that Myles Garrett was going to be joining the 99 club for the upcoming Madden 23 game and he deserves it, but it had me thinking, what other Cleveland Browns were rated this high?

A couple of things to keep in mind when going through this list. I am only using release ratings. I felt it was only fair to use the ratings that were used during the release of the game as players like Jamir Miller, Tre Johnson, and Courtney Brown didn’t get the benefit of the fancy online mid-season updates.

It is also important to note that even though the Madden game has been released every year since 1988, I only used the ratings from 1999 and sooner. There are a few reasons for this as the first is anything before that year is very hard to find, honestly, Madden 2000 ratings were almost impossible to find online, but the second reason is early game ratings were wild. Players didn’t have an overall, they just had a few traits and they only went up to 15. For reference, Bernie Kosar did not have an overall but did have an 11 in passing range and 12 in passing accuracy.

Also keep in mind that the Madden games are named for the year when the season is complete, so Madden 23 is actually for the 2022 season. The following are the 11 highest-rated Cleveland Browns in Madden video game history, I will only name each player once based on their highest rating, so Joe Thomas despite being rated high for his entire career will only be listed once:

Fun fact before we start, the Browns have never had a quarterback hit the 90 overall range since coming back.

Fans really want Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp’s Madden ratings changed

Did EA Sports get Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford’s Madden ratings right? Fans don’t seem to think so.

EA Sports released ratings for every player in “Madden NFL 23” this summer and as is the case each year, gamers were upset about how their favorite players were viewed. It’s gotten to the point where EA is allowing fans to call into a hotline, proposing why a player’s rating should be adjusted.

It’s no surprise that EA has been getting a lot of calls, including plenty of requests about two Rams players: Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford.

The official Madden account tweeted a list of the most requested players from the hotline and Kupp was seventh, followed by Stafford at No. 10 – assuming the list is in order. Kupp has a 98 overall rating in the game, one point shy of joining the 99 Club with his teammate Aaron Donald.

Stafford is only 10th among all quarterbacks with an 85 overall rating, so fans would like to see his rating a bit higher.

We’ll see if EA does anything about this before the season begins, but if Stafford goes off for 450 yards and four touchdowns against the Bills in Week 1, you can be sure his rating will jump up from 85 overall.

The Madden 23 player rating complaint hotline fielded 1,000 calls in 6 hours and everyone is baffled by it

People actually picked up the phone to complain about Madden. Wow.

Look, man. Madden is Madden. The game is not perfect and it has not been for years.

Sure, they’re going to get some things right. For example, they put John Madden on the cover this year after his death to honor him. Great move. But then, they also didn’t have Ja’Marr Chase rated as a top 10 wide receiver in the game.

That’s just Madden. That’s how the game is. It gives and it takes — especially when it comes to ratings.

But this year, Madden wanted to do things a bit differently. Obviously, they make adjustments and roster updates during the year and ratings have a lot to do with that. They wanted to hear people’s feedback on what they got wrong when it came to the ratings, so they set up a hotline.

It’s simple: You call the hotline when you’ve got a complaint about somebody’s rating on Madden. Easy, right? Piece of cake.

Whoever is in charge of fielding those calls is probably regretting it right now.

The hotline has already fielded 1,000 calls and it’s only been active for one day. One. A single day. Not even a whole week. Not three days. Just one. And, to be more specific, they had 1,000 calls after just six hours, according to Madden employee Emma Waldren.

That’s insane. Y’all know how hard it is to get people on the phone these days. Nobody makes calls anymore.

But here, not only did people have these complaints at the ready, but they actually got on the phone to voice those complaints. That’s how passionate people were about this game and these ratings.

People were shocked by that number, but they also felt bad for whoever had to go through those calls. That’s a lot.

Panthers CB Jaycee Horn wants you to spam Madden NFL 23 ratings hotline

Panthers CB Jaycee Horn has asked fans to hit up the Madden NFL 23 adjustor ratings hotline to help get his marks up.

Carolina Panthers cornerback Jaycee Horn is taking matters into his own hands.

On Friday, the second-year defender took to Twitter in protest of EA Sports and their upcoming release of Madden NFL 23. Specifically, he’s not exactly happy with some of the ratings the game’s developers have saddled him with.

That phone number you see up there will lead you to the Madden ratings adjustor hotline. There, you can talk with an adjustor and try to settle your disagreements on any of your favorite players’ marks.

For Horn, he stated he’d like to see his overall, catch and man coverage ratings hiked up accordingly. Currently, the 2021 eighth overall selection carries a 75 overall with a 72 and a 74 in hands and coverage, respectively.

To his credit, we already know those mitts are better than what the game is giving him credit for. Like, how many guys can actually do this . . . ?

So grab your phones and get on it!

Bucs are the best team in ‘Madden NFL 23’

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have the highest overall team rating in EA Sports’ “Madden NFL 23” video game

We’re just a few weeks away from EA Sports’ release of their “Madden NFL 23” video game, but we already know who the best team in this year’s edition will be.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have an overall team rating of 92, the highest of any team in the game. The Buffalo Bills come in second at 89, followed by the Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers with an 88.

After back-to-back playoff runs, a Super Bowl win and an NFC South title, the Bucs have a stacked roster yet again this year. Despite not being able to bring back their entire starting lineup this time around, Tampa Bay made a handful of impressive additions to fill the vacancies left by free agency and retirement.
