Highest-rated Browns in Madden video game history

Our guy @joshkeatley16 did the hard work and found the highest-rated Browns in Madden video game history #Browns #Madden

It was recently announced that Myles Garrett was going to be joining the 99 club for the upcoming Madden 23 game and he deserves it, but it had me thinking, what other Cleveland Browns were rated this high?

A couple of things to keep in mind when going through this list. I am only using release ratings. I felt it was only fair to use the ratings that were used during the release of the game as players like Jamir Miller, Tre Johnson, and Courtney Brown didn’t get the benefit of the fancy online mid-season updates.

It is also important to note that even though the Madden game has been released every year since 1988, I only used the ratings from 1999 and sooner. There are a few reasons for this as the first is anything before that year is very hard to find, honestly, Madden 2000 ratings were almost impossible to find online, but the second reason is early game ratings were wild. Players didn’t have an overall, they just had a few traits and they only went up to 15. For reference, Bernie Kosar did not have an overall but did have an 11 in passing range and 12 in passing accuracy.

Also keep in mind that the Madden games are named for the year when the season is complete, so Madden 23 is actually for the 2022 season. The following are the 11 highest-rated Cleveland Browns in Madden video game history, I will only name each player once based on their highest rating, so Joe Thomas despite being rated high for his entire career will only be listed once:

Fun fact before we start, the Browns have never had a quarterback hit the 90 overall range since coming back.

Every former Notre Dame player’s Madden ’23 rating

Who should have the biggest beef about their rating?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for decades you’re aware of the Madden video game franchise that has been a staple for football fans and gamers alike for over 30 years.  With John Madden passing away earlier this year even a little more attention has been paid to the game this summer.

Anymore it always generates some news when the ratings for each player are released for the newest edition of the game.  That is exactly what’s available now as the player and team ratings for Madden ’23 are open for your viewing.

How did every Notre Dame player in the game get rated?

ESPN lists 49 former Notre Dame players currently on NFL rosters.  Of those, 41 have given ratings for the latest game.  Here are ratings for those 41 players sorted from lowest to highest.

As of posting, Kyle Rudolph was not included. Rudolph signed with the Bucs just days before this post was originally released.

Here are the ‘Madden NFL 23’ ratings for every Cowboys player

Every Madden rating for the Dallas Cowboys heading into 2022 training camp.

Over the past week there’s been a lot of conversation about Madden ’23 ratings. With training camps opening up around the league, a new edition of the time-tested video game is nearing completion and everyone – from fans to the players themselves – are consumed by how each NFL player is seen.

For the Dallas Cowboys, there are a few players who are among the best in the game and several others who have more proving to do in the eyes of the ratings czar. Check out the team’s ratings, position by position, below.

Amari Cooper highest rated AFC North WR in Madden ’23

While no one would take Cooper over Cincy’s Chase, the nuances of the veteran receiver get credit from Madden’s rating makers:

The addition of WR Amari Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys kicked off an interesting offseason for the Cleveland Browns. At the time, there was a belief that Cooper could be released due to his contract but, instead, the Browns made a cheap trade to add a top-tier receiver.

Following the trade, Cleveland restructured Cooper’s contract for salary cap purposes, released WR Jarvis Landry, drafted WR David Bell and gave a massive contract to TE David Njoku.

The Browns pass-catching unit will have a different look in 2022.

As Madden ’23 ratings started to come out, we learned that DE Myles Garrett leads the way among defensive ends with a perfect 99 rating. We also learned that Cooper is the tenth-rated receiver in the game and highest rated among all AFC North receivers:

Like fantasy football, PFF grades and other data points, Madden ratings don’t decide anything on the field but they are interesting to look at.

Interestingly, Cooper was not rated among the top 10 WRs in speed, short route running or making catches in traffic but was among the best hands, medium route running and deep route running.

While no one would take Cooper over Ja’Marr Chase, the Browns receiver may have the edge in his nuanced game in 2022. Cleveland is counting on it to take the passing attack to a whole different level this season.
