Highest-rated Browns in Madden video game history

Our guy @joshkeatley16 did the hard work and found the highest-rated Browns in Madden video game history #Browns #Madden

It was recently announced that Myles Garrett was going to be joining the 99 club for the upcoming Madden 23 game and he deserves it, but it had me thinking, what other Cleveland Browns were rated this high?

A couple of things to keep in mind when going through this list. I am only using release ratings. I felt it was only fair to use the ratings that were used during the release of the game as players like Jamir Miller, Tre Johnson, and Courtney Brown didn’t get the benefit of the fancy online mid-season updates.

It is also important to note that even though the Madden game has been released every year since 1988, I only used the ratings from 1999 and sooner. There are a few reasons for this as the first is anything before that year is very hard to find, honestly, Madden 2000 ratings were almost impossible to find online, but the second reason is early game ratings were wild. Players didn’t have an overall, they just had a few traits and they only went up to 15. For reference, Bernie Kosar did not have an overall but did have an 11 in passing range and 12 in passing accuracy.

Also keep in mind that the Madden games are named for the year when the season is complete, so Madden 23 is actually for the 2022 season. The following are the 11 highest-rated Cleveland Browns in Madden video game history, I will only name each player once based on their highest rating, so Joe Thomas despite being rated high for his entire career will only be listed once:

Fun fact before we start, the Browns have never had a quarterback hit the 90 overall range since coming back.

Former No. 1 draft pick Kellen Winslow II gets 14-year prison sentence

Kellen Winslow II was called a “sexual predator” when sentenced to 14 years in prison in a California court.

The sentencing of former Cleveland Browns No. 1 pick Kellen Winslow II took place on Wednesday in Southern California. The son of the Hall of Fame tight end by the same name will serve 14 years in prison for multiple sex charges.

The 37-year-old appeared via videoconference at the hearing in San Diego Superior Court in Vista. Winslow II declined to comment before his sentence, saying his lawyers had advised him not to speak.

“In the future, I do plan to tell my story,” Winslow said.

Per The AP:

Winslow was convicted of forcible rape, rape of an unconscious person, assault with intent to commit rape, indecent exposure and lewd conduct in public. The forcible rape involved a woman who was homeless in his hometown of Encinitas, a beach community north of San Diego.

The 14-year-sentence was the maximum allowed under a plea deal.

San Diego County Superior Court Judge Blaine Bowman said Winslow can only be described with “two words, and that is sexual predator.”

The plea deal, which was revealed recently, included a new guilty plea by Winslow for assaulting a hitchhiker with the intent to commit rape in March 2018 – a woman in her mid-50s who was known in the case as Jane Doe 1. That new guilty plea replaces a guilty plea he made in November 2019 for sexual battery against the same woman.

Winslow attended the University of Miami. The sixth draft pick in 2004, he played in the NFL for 10 seasons, until 2013.

Kellen Winslow II agrees to 14-year prison plea deal

Former Cleveland Browns first-round draft pick will serve 14 years in prison as part of a plea arrangement. Formal sentencing is scheduled for March 3.

The legal saga of Kellen Winslow II, the first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2004, took a turn on Friday as he agreed to a plea deal that will sentence him to 14 years in prison for various sexual offenses.

Per USA Today:

The new plea agreement replaces a prior plea agreement in his case from November 2019, when he pleaded guilty to rape and sexual battery charges to avoid the possibility of spending the rest of his life in prison. The previous deal stipulated a sentencing range of 12 to 18 years behind bars, to be determined by the judge after a sentencing hearing.

“I would like to agree to 14 years,” Winslow, 37, told Judge Blaine Bowman remotely from his jail.

The new deal also includes another significant change: a new guilty plea by Winslow for assaulting a hitchhiker with the intent to commit rape in March 2018 – a woman in her mid-50s who was known in the case as Jane Doe 1. That new guilty plea replaces a guilty plea he made in November 2019 for sexual battery against the same woman.

The son of the Hall of Fame tight end by the same name will be formally sentenced on March 3.
