Top in-state target commits to Georgia, more options available to MSU football

Georgia has taken one of the top prospects out of Michigan in 2026, but options still remain for MSU:

One of the biggest and best prospects in the state of Michigan’s 2026 class is now off the board. Saline (MI) tight end Lincoln Keyes has made the decision to make his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs. Both Michigan State and rival Michigan will miss out on the top prospect.

For Michigan State, they will target 1-2 tight ends in the 2026 recruiting class, with multiple tight ends being the more likely scenario.

While Keyes is now off the board, there are still a plethora of targets for MSU to target in the state in 2026. Detroit Catholic Central’s Jack Janda will lead the list for the Spartans, who will go head to head with their rival Wolverines (who hold the crystal ball lead) for the local talent. Second on the list will be Lincoln Watkins of Port Huron Northern High School. He holds 15 power conference offers despite not holding an MSU offer, which should be coming soon. Other than the big two left on the list, prospects like Charlie Jilek (Portage Central), Ryan Rocheleau (Lake Orion) and Maximus Jansenvanvuren (Waterford Mott).

In-state Michigan football target spurns Wolverines for powerhouse SEC school

Didn’t expect this. #GoBlue

Michigan football is wrapping up the 2025 recruiting class, but it is working on the 2026 class, which will soon be on the clock.

One prospect was expected to lean toward the maize and blue because he played a position the Wolverines are known for and his high school is in a neighboring town. 2026 Saline (Michigan) tight end Lincoln Keyes visited Ann Arbor in recent weeks as his recruitment appeared to be picking up.

However, Keyes surprised by spurning the Michigan Wolverines in favor of making an early commitment to Georgia. His pledge was announced on Sunday morning.

Keyes is a three-star prospect ranked 391st in the 2026 class, regardless of position. He’s the No. 20 tight end and No. 7 player in the state of Michigan.

The Wolverines have a loaded room: Four-stars Hogan Hansen and Brady Prieskorn pledged in 2024. Michigan also has four-star Andrew Olesh and three-star Eli Owens pledged in the 2025 class.

Another interesting high school recruit at tight end was extended an offer on Thursday after what was rumored to be an eye catching camp performance. Lincoln Keyes is not yet ranked by many recruiting services, but the Michigan native is expected to be highly ranked within the 2026 class once these services catch on.

Keyes is already 6-foot, 6-inches and 220-pounds with a ton of potential to fill out that massive frame even more before hitting a college campus. The young recruit received his first offer from Arizona State and has also visited Big Ten foe and in-state school, Michigan State.

Wisconsin offers impressive multi-sport athlete from Michigan

Wisconsin offers impressive multi-sport athlete from Michigan

The Wisconsin Badgers football team offered Lincoln Keyes, a three-star tight end from Saline, Michigan, on Saturday. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound athlete is a sophomore at Saline High and he still has two more years of high school football before he’d make the jump to the college level.

Keyes has now picked up 12 Division 1 football offers, including Illinois, Purdue and Wisconsin within the Big Ten. The Michigan Wolverines have yet to offer, but he has gotten scholarships extended to him from Central Michigan and Western Michigan within his home state.

What makes Keyes a rather intriguing recruit is his general size, which he has also used to make himself successful on the basketball court. There’s a long list of tight ends that also played basketball going on to have strong football careers and Keyes will look to do so as well.

Wisconsin has now offered eight different tight ends in the class of 2026.
