Notre Dame 2024 cornerback target explains why Irish are a contender

The Irish aren’t quite done with the 2024 cycle

Even though Notre Dame football signed 23 commits during the early period, they may not be done with the 2024 class.

Maryland cornerback [autotag]Kevyn Humes[/autotag] decided to reclassify from the 2025 class to the 2024 one, and will have until the first Wednesday in February to make his decision. One of the schools he’s considering is Notre Dame, with a visit on tap in late January.

In a recruiting update from Brian Dohn of 247SportsBrian Dohn of 247Sports (subscription required), Humes goes on the explain why the Irish are a contender. “The academic portion at the University of Notre Dame is one of one. The coaching as well is one of one. It see it as the best of both worlds.”

It will be hard to pull Humes away from home, as he also is highly considering Maryland, but it does seem like Notre Dame has a legit shot at signing him in February.

Coveted 2024 CB recruit includes Florida among top 6 choices

A 3-star cornerback from Baltimore, Maryland, has the Florida Gators included in his top six choices.

Florida football is among the top choices for a three-star recruit as the anticipation builds for national signing day.

High school senior Kevyn “Kerm” Humes took to social media on Monday afternoon to announce that he has closed his recruitment window and has come down to six choices. The cornerback also included the dates of his official visits in the social media posts.

Humes will visit the University of Florida campus the weekend of Feb. 2-4, but the Gators have some stiff competition when it comes to earning his commitment.

“Thank you to all who have supported (my) Journey,” Humes wrote on Twitter. “My recruitment is over.”

The Baltimore, Maryland, native has other top-notch programs among his final choices and planned visits, including the Syracuse Orange, Maryland Terrapins, USC Trojans, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Penn State Nittany Lions. He’ll go to northern New York first to visit Syracuse on Jan. 12 and then conclude the road trip in Maryland, with the dates labeled as “TBD.”

Humes is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports, but is a four-star on the same website’s composite scale, ranking at No. 55 among cornerbacks and standing at No. 342 nationally.

Reclassified 2024 blue-chip cornerback sets Gators official visit date

Can the Gators get this four-star defensive back on campus and convince him to come to Gainesville?

The buzz of the early signing period has dulled to a distant din but the 2024 recruiting cycle is not nearly complete just yet. The Gators got some good news earlier this week when a recently reclassified blue-chip prospect expressed an interest in the Orange and Blue.

Four-star cornerback [autotag]Kevyn Humes[/autotag] out of Baltimore (Maryland) St. Frances Academy announced on Monday his reclassification to the 2024 class. The 5-foot-11-inch, 170-pound defensive back also told On3’s Keith Niebuhr that he wanted to visit Florida at the time.

“They have a good chance,” Humes told Niebuhr. “I’m getting on the phone with them later or (Wednesday) to set one up.”

The Old Line State product has now locked in four official visits, starting with the Syracuse Orange and Penn State Nittany Lions on Jan. 12 and 19, respectively. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have a date set for Jan. 26 and Florida will get the last trip the weekend of Feb. 2.

He plans on making his final decision in February after his Hogtown stop.

Some of the other schools that are interested in his talents are the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Oregon Ducks, and Maryland Terrapins.

Humes is ranked No. 342 overall and No.25 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 384 and 34, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Penn State with a 26.3% chance of signing him, followed by Maryland (15.5%), Syracuse (10.0%) and Georgia (8.4%).

Notre Dame still may not be done adding to its 2024 recruiting class

The Irish are pressing hard for the reclassified corner

When the early signing period completed, it very much looked like Notre Dame was content with its class.

That may not be the case, as one of their 2025 cornerback targets, Maryland’s [autotag]Kevyn Humes[/autotag] reclassified to the 2024 class. According to this report by 247Sports Steve Wiltfong (subscription required), Notre Dame is among four schools that the No. 342 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings will visit in January.

The official to South Bend is scheduled for the last weekend of January, just days ahead of the final signing period that begins on February 7th. Humes told Wiltfong that the Irish are “pressing the hardest out of all four,” which tells us they really want him to join the class.

With the class pretty much wrapped up, the Irish can focus their effort on getting Humes to close out the group.

4-star Oregon CB target Kevyn Humes reclassifies to 2024 class

4-star cornerback Kevyn Humes reclassified to the 2024 class, and the Oregon Ducks have been announced as a finalist.

The Oregon Ducks put the final stamp on an elite 2024 recruiting class on Thursday night with the addition of four-star defensive lineman Jericho Johnson.

However, another prospect they were pursuing for a future class might have just become available in the present.

On Monday morning, four-star cornerback Kevyn Humes, the No. 29 CB in the 2025 class, announced he will reclassify to 2024 and sign with a team this offseason. Humes is from Baltimore, Maryland, and he goes to the same high school as Oregon signee Ify Obidegwu.

Just over a month ago, when Humes announced his top five schools, he had the Ducks as one of the finalists, along with Penn State, Notre Dame, Georgia and Alabama.

The Ducks signed 25 players in the 2024 class, which ranks fifth in the nation. They are also looking to get a commitment from four-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who plans to sign during the signing period in February. We will see if they decide to pursue Humes now that he is available earlier than expected.

2025 CB Kevyn Humes lists Alabama in top 5

2025 cornerback Kevyn Humes narrowed his list of finalists down to five schools. The Maryland native included Alabama as one of his finalists.

Cornerback Kevyn Humes of the 2025 class narrowed his list of finalists down to five schools recently. One of the programs that made the cut was Alabama.

Humes, a Maryland native, has taken two unofficial visits to Alabama. His most recent trip to Tuscaloosa was for the Alabama-LSU game.

Humes plays for one of the most prestigious programs in high school football — St. Frances Academy. In the past, Alabama has landed multiple prospects from the same school including Darrian Dalcourt and Chris Braswell.

With Humes cutting his list down to five schools, there is a strong chance that he makes a decision sooner rather than later.

4-star 2025 CB announces visit to Oregon following Ducks offer

4-star 2025 CB announces visit to Oregon following Ducks offer

A load of talented recruits are going to be descending on Eugene a couple of weeks from now as the Oregon Ducks prepare to host their annual Saturday Night Live recruiting camp on July 29th.

Don’t be shocked if you see a number of recruits announce their visits to Oregon for that weekend in the coming days.

The first one that we’ve seen pop up is from 4-star cornerback Kevyn Humes, a Top247 player from the class of 2025.

Humes plays at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, the same school as Oregon’s 4-star QB commit Michael Van Buren. Humes is rated as the No. 240 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 27 CB.

Humes received an offer from Oregon on July 14, per 247Sports.

Notre Dame is among top 8 for 2025 Maryland cornerback

The Irish advance in the cornerbacks recruitment

[autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] was fairly early to offer 2025 Maryland cornerback [autotag]Kevyn Humes[/autotag] and a visit shortly after confirmed the mutual interest.

It is still there even as Humes gained other top offers and on Sunday he trimmed down his list to just eight schools with the Irish making the cut. The 5-foot, 11-inch and 185 pound corner is rated as the 31st best at his position and 311th overall player in the 2025 recruiting class according to the 247Sports composite.

Even though Humes notes that he will still consider other schools, being on this list is important for the future of his recruitment.

It is still a long road for Humes and his recruitment, but the Irish are in the mix for the talented cornerback.

Maryland 2025 cornerback has Ohio State in his top eight

Ohio State is one of the schools the talented corner will continue to focus on. #GoBucks

This weekend wasn’t just about [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]’s 2024 recruiting class, it was about making waves in the 2025 cycle as well.

Call it mission accomplished for the Buckeye coaching staff. [autotag]Kevyn Humes[/autotag], a 5-foot, 11-inch, 185-pound 2025 Maryland cornerback trimmed down his list to eight main schools, Ohio State was included.

Humes is ranked as the No. 31 cornerback and 310th overall prospect in his class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Ohio State offered him earlier this month while on an unofficial visit.

Since then Humes has picked up offers from Auburn and Alabama, confirming the fact that he’s one of the most highly sought-after defensive backs in his class.

Humes does say his recruitment is still open but it very much seems like he’s gotten the offers he covets. Expect the Buckeyes to continue to go recruit the talented corner until the end.
