NFL scouts and media react to Keeanu Benton’s Senior Bowl performance
This past weekend, Keeanu Benton’s stock just kept on rising. The Wisconsin defensive lineman came into the Reese’s Senior Bowl as one of the top prospects in the event, and he did not disappoint.
The 6-foot-4 prospect earned praise from fellow senior prospects, scouts, and NFL media from around the country.
Benton had 36 total tackles as a senior, 4.5 sacks, and a pair of passes defended as a senior in 2022. All of those numbers were career-best marks. He spent four seasons as a defensive lineman at Wisconsin.

Several players have seen their stocks rise this week at the Senior Bowl.
The first major event of the draft season is wrapping up as Senior Bowl practices were held this week in Mobile Alabama. Some players have seen their stock rise and others have seen it fall but overall it was a good week. There are several players the Cleveland Browns should have on their board in April that saw their stock rise this week.
Overall the offensive lines seemed to play better than the defensive lines with standouts on both sides. The wide receiver group overall wasn’t as impressive as some had hoped they would be in Mobile.

The NFL draft starts in Mobile, and even with the Eagles preparing to face the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, all eyes this week will be on Alabama, for the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Philadelphia has one of the NFL’s defensive lines, but Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Ndamukong Suh, Linval Joseph, Robert Quinn, and Javon Hargrave can all be free agents after the Super Bowl.
With 18+ Eagles set to hit unrestricted free agency, Howie Roseman could look to upgrade the defensive line via the NFL Draft.

The 2023 Senior Bowl week of practices are done and the National team had their best practice of the week. It also happened to be the day that the players were the most focused and played their best football.
Practice is a weird element, as it’s not the end all, be all for prospects but rather a good baseline for what they look like in a hyper competitive environment. This info is used to compare against their film to get a more complete picture.
After the final practice, here were eight players that stood out above the rest.

It would be an understatement to say the Cleveland Browns’ defensive tackles struggled in 2022. They were historically bad against the run in the middle of the line and need to make massive improvements if they want to be competitive next season. Targeting Keeanu Benton from Wisconsin in this April’s draft would be a good start to getting things back on track.
The team needs to add multiple players at the position and adding a veteran in free agency first would be a good route to take. Benton does the things the team couldn’t last year and anchor the center of Brown’s defensive line.

The 74th annual Senior Bowl is rapidly approaching. Practices for the all-star game begin in a week, with over 100 of the top eligible prospects looking to augment their 2023 NFL draft stock in the practice sessions, meeting rooms and interview studios.
I’ll be back in Mobile for my 14th Senior Bowl week. Much of this week is devoted to getting more familiar with the players I’ll see during the week and if they might hold some interest for the Detroit Lions in the coming NFL draft.
