Four-star LB chooses Oklahoma over Auburn

Despite missing out on Phil Picciotti on Monday, Auburn is still the favorites to reel in two LBs from the 2023 cycle.

Auburn Football received great news on Monday, as four-star wide receiver [autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] from nearby Phenix City committed to the Tigers, giving them their second four-star commitment over a three-day period.  Head coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] hoped that his fortune would double by landing another commitment on Monday from four-star linebacker [autotag]Phil Picciotti[/autotag].

Those plans did not work out, as Picciotti announced that he would be heading to Oklahoma.

However, Auburn fans should not worry, as the Tigers are in good shape to land one, if not two talented linebackers from the 2023 recruiting cycle.

For the 2023 class, Auburn has extended an offer to 27 linebackers across the nation, and are currently the favorites to earn commitments from two of those says On3.

Auburn is currently the favorite to grab [autotag]Lewis Carter[/autotag], a four-star linebacker from Tampa, Florida. Carter is the No. 12 linebacker in the country, and the No. 35 overall recruit from the state of Florida. According to On3, Auburn has a 28% chance to grab Carter’s commitment, with UCF not far behind.

What moved Auburn ahead of programs such as Oklahoma and North Carolina was a very successful official visit during the weekend of June 17-19. It also helps that his head coach at Tampa Catholic High School is former Tiger, [autotag]Jeris McIntyre[/autotag].

Eric Muse, a three-star linebacker from Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham is another recruit that is favored to commit to Auburn. Muse received an offer from Auburn last July, and the Tigers have received a 92.6% chance to get the commitment from Muse.

Four-star 2023 wide receiver commits to Auburn

The in-state talent is Auburn’s first wideout commitment for the 2023 class.

The Tigers’ 2023 receiving corps just got a little deeper.

Wideout Karmello English, who hails from Phenix City, Alabama, committed to Auburn on Monday. English was projected to commit to the Tigers on 247Sports, but he has officially made his announcement and is currently locked in to head to the Plains next season.

English was a highly sought-after recruit, receiving offers from multiple big offers from major schools such as Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Texas A&M. In the end, though, English chose Auburn, a decision that seemed forecasted when he took two unofficial visits back-to-back in March and April. In the end, English not only chooses an in-state school to call home for his college tenure, but he also spurns Auburn’s hated rival and usual recruiting siphon in the Alabama Crimson Tide.

His commitment is a significant win for [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] and his staff. Auburn has offered 28 different wide receivers for the 2023 class, but English is now the only one so far to commit to the Tigers. Having a four-star talent that can play well in the slot could do wonders for Auburn’s relatively shaky wideout corps, and should Harsin survive until 2023, he’s sure to appreciate the services of English when he arrives on campus.

2023 4-star WR Karmello English has Alabama in SEC-loaded top 5

Alabama is in play for the 2023 big-time WR!

Alabama football has begun preparations for the upcoming 2022 college football season, but Nick Saban is always one step ahead, which is why is he already heavily recruiting the class of 2023.

Recently, Saban has been able to land top recruits at the wide receiver position, and it’s only going to get easier as more of those receivers leave the program as first-round draft picks.

[autotag]Karmello English[/autotag] is an in-state wide receiver from Phenix City and is seriously considering the Crimson Tide, along with a few other high-profile programs.

The young wide receiver still has one more year of high school football remaining before he needs to make a decision.

Members of Clemson’s staff will be at an Alabama high school game tonight to see a number of top prospects on the Tigers’ recruiting radar.

The Clemson Insider has confirmed that multiple Clemson defensive assistants, including defensive tackles coach Todd Bates and defensive ends coach Lemanski Hall, will be in attendance for the Alabama Class 7A state championship game between Thompson (Alabaster, Ala.) and Central (Phenix City, Ala.).

We expect Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables to be at the game as well. He has been in Alabama on Wednesday and was seen with Bates earlier at Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham. TCI reported that Venables and Bates were there to check in on 2025 defensive lineman Jourdin Crawford and 2023 linebacker Eric Muse.

The Thompson-Central game will feature a bunch of big-time recruits that Clemson has been involved with, including Thompson 2023 five-star defensive tackle Peter Woods (pictured above) and Thompson 2023 five-star cornerback Tony Mitchell, as well as Central 2023 four-star defensive end Tomarrion Parker and Central 2023 four-star wide receiver Karmello English.

Clemson has extended offers to both Woods and Mitchell. Woods visited campus during the Dabo Swinney Camp in June and returned to Clemson for the Boston College and Florida State games in October.

Auburn in top eight for 4-star WR Karmello English

This would be a fun addition.

Karmello English is the latest in a long line of elite wide receivers to come out of Central-Phenix City.

Justyn Ross and E.J Williams both starred at Central before heading to Clemson, but Auburn is hoping to keep English in his home state. The Tigers look to have a good chance to do that after being included in his top eight schools.

The Tigers will be battling West Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Cincinnati, Penn State, Arkansas, and Mississippi State.

The 5-foot-11 and 175-pound English is the No. 18 wide receiver and No. 111 national recruit in the 247Sports composite ranking for the 2023 recruiting class. He is also ranked as the 10th best player in Alabama.

Auburn is looking for their first commitment of the 2023 class but is going after several elite prospects.

Georgia football offers 4-star WR Karmello English

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to yet another Central High School football star, Karmello English.

The Georgia Bulldogs offered a scholarship to yet another Central High School football star, Karmello English. Central High School is located in Phenix City, Alabama, which is just across the border from Georgia.

English is a member of the class of 2023 and is ranked as a four-star wide receiver prospect. The 6-foot wide receiver prospect weighs 185 pounds and goes up against some stout competition in practice.

Central High School finished the 2020 season with a 7-5 record, but is ranked as the No. 11 high school team in the state of Alabama.

The Central High School star is rated the No. 17 wide receiver prospect in the sophomore class. Penn State, Alabama, Mississippi State, Florida State, Auburn, Ole Miss and several more top college football programs have offered English a scholarship.

The four-star has already received an invitation to the 2023 Under Armour All-America Game. In addition to football, English plays basketball. English has an impressive vertical jump and is capable of high pointing the football.

English announced his scholarship offer from the University of Georgia via his Twitter account:
