Georgia flips another 4-star previously committed to Florida

Florida lost 4-star Julian Humphrey last month and now he’ll be playing for the school’s biggest rival, Georgia.

Kirby Smart has done it again. Georgia flipped former Florida commit Julian Humphrey on Friday.

The 4-star cornerback de-committed from the Gators in October after moving into the 247Sports Composite list Top 100. Florida’s poor play and Georgia’s dominance, especially on defense, played a big role in the flip. Ultimately, the twelfth best corner in the country wanted to go where he thought would give him the best opportunity to succeed.

“Georgia is DBU,” Humphrey told 247Sports. “I think they had (four) DBs drafted last year, that’s like a record. Once I seen that, that clicked instantly, they must be doing something different from all those other schools. I’m like ok that’s something I would love to be part of for sure, be developed like those guys.”

To make things worse for Gators fans, Humphrey also said that playing for Will Muschamp (a former defensive back himself) helped him make the decision. Gators beat writer Nick de la Torre summed up the ire of Gator Nation on Twitter. “This is assault,” he added in a re-posting of Humphrey’s decision.

De La Torre is of course alluding to the consistent dominance Georgia has displayed over Florida in the realm of recruiting recently. Aside from signing a better class than Florida each year since Dan Mullen arrived, the Bulldogs have made a recent habit of yoinking the Gators’ best recruits. Earlier this week, Florida lost its top recruit in the class of 2023 to Smart and company.

Mullen is just getting over being ridiculed by the media and fans for his poor response to a recruiting question earlier this month. Those questions aren’t going to stop if he doesn’t right the ship and stop flips like Humphrey from happening.

UGA football flips another 4-star: DB Julian Humphrey

Kirby Smart and UGA have flipped former Florida commitment Julian Humphrey, a 4-star class of 2022 DB.

Four-star defensive back recruit Julian Humphrey has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs football program after previously being committed to the Florida Gators.

Julian ‘Julio’ Humphrey, a four-star class of 2022 cornerback, committed to UGA over LSU and Texas A&M.

Humphrey, who ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit and No. 12 cornerback, backed off his commitment to Florida in October. He was favored to commit to UGA.

It is yet another win for Georgia over the Gators for Kirby Smart. Georgia dominated Florida 34-7 on Oct. 30, and Florida lost an ugly 40-17 game to South Carolina last week.

Georgia Bulldogs also flipped class of 2023 wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell from Dan Mullen and Florida earlier this week.

The Dawgs have the No. 2 recruiting class in the country behind Alabama. Dan Mullen and Florida have the No. 22 class of 2022.

Humphrey plays for Clear Lake High School in Texas. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback out of Houston, Texas, brought a bulldog to the ceremony when he announced his commitment to UGA.

Humphrey visited Georgia on Oct. 1, the weekend UGA hosted Arkansas. The four-star defensive back also recently visited Texas A&M.

Humphrey is another example of Kirby Smart and Jimbo Fisher battling on the recruiting trail in the class of 2022.

Dan Mullen and UF also recently lost a commitment from four-star linebacker Shemar James, the No. 70 player in the nation. James is considering Georgia and Alabama. Things seem to be unraveling right now for the Florida Gators.

4-Star cornerback Julian Humphrey is ready to commit

Kirby Smart and UGA are looking to flip former Florida commitment Julian Humphrey, who is near a decision.

Four-star defensive back recruit Julian Humphrey is ready to make his commitment. Humphrey announced his decision will come sometime between Nov. 8 and Nov. 14 via Twitter.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top three schools for former Florida Gators commit Julian ‘Julio’ Humphrey. The four-star class of 2022 cornerback puts UGA, LSU and Texas A&M in his top schools.

Where will Humphrey go? It would be surprising to see him sign early with LSU considering the situation surrounding the program (coach Ed Orgeron is leaving after the season). LSU has an excellent reputation with their ability to develop and recruit defensive backs, so they should not be counted out.

Humphrey, who ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit and No. 12 cornerback, backed off his commitment to Florida in October. He is favored to commit to UGA.

If Humphrey commits to Georgia, then it would be yet another win over the Gators for Kirby Smart. Georgia dominated Florida 34-7 on Oct. 30. Florida just lost again to South Carolina in a game that was not close.

The Dawgs have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Dan Mullen and Florida have the No. 22 class of 2022.

Humphrey plays for Clear Lake High School in Texas. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound cornerback out of Houston, Texas, recently announced his top three schools via Twitter.

Humphrey visited Georgia on Oct. 1, the weekend UGA hosted Arkansas. The four-star defensive back visited Texas A&M recently, too. The Aggies appear to be Kirby Smart’s main competition in landing a commitment from Humphrey.

Dan Mullen and UF also recently lost a commitment from four-star linebacker Shemar James, the No. 70 player in the nation. Things seem to be unraveling right now for the Gators.

LSU among final three for former Florida commit

Some good news on the recruiting front, sort of.

A little bit of good news came on Tuesday for the LSU Tigers. Recent Florida decommit Julian Humphrey listed his top three schools for his recruitment. Humphrey is looking at LSU, Georgia, and Texas A&M. The Houston product is a four-star cornerback prospect that plays both ways for Clearlake in Houston.

It is a bit of a surprise to see the Tigers as a top-three destination for anyone in the 2022 class considering they don’t have a head coach in place yet. According to the industry experts, Humphrey is likely to flip from Florida to their biggest rivals, the Georgia Bulldogs. He would be yet another addition to the Bulldogs’ No. 1 ranked recruiting class.

Humphrey would make the No. 13 four-star commit to their class. The LSU Tigers currently sit at No. 12 for the transition class. They currently hold 14 commitments after Aaron Anderson flipped to Alabama.

UGA football in top schools for former Florida commit

Florida football loses one of its highest-rated commits

The Gators lost the pledge of four-star cornerback Julian Humphrey, who is now considered a Georgia lean.

In a matter of five days, Florida lost two of its three highest-rated recruits in the 2022 class.

On Monday night, Julian Humphrey, a four-star cornerback from Clear Lake High School in Houston, announced that he would be decommitting from the Gators. Humphrey is the No. 12 cornerback nationally and No. 94 player overall, per the 247Sports Composite.

This news comes just a few days after the top player in Florida’s class, four-star linebacker Shemar James, left the class. Both James and Humphrey officially visited Georgia this month (with James’ visit coming four days before his decommittment), and the Bulldogs are considered the favorites to land both right now.

Those losses cost this class dearly. There are still some top targets Florida is in the mix for, but if it misses on them, this will likely be coach Dan Mullen‘s worst class at Florida.

The class currently ranks No. 23 according to 247Sports and No. 34 according to Rivals. Recruiting has been a major issue for Mullen at Florida, and with this team likely heading toward its most disappointing finish, the future outlook for the program from a talent perspective is less than ideal right now.

Florida loses commitment from 4-star CB who visited Georgia this month

Gators lose another one.

The Florida Gators have lost another commitment in their 2022 recruiting class — this time from 4-star cornerback Julian Humphrey.

Humphrey, who ranks as the nation’s No. 94 overall recruit and No. 12 ranked cornerback, backed off his commitment on Monday night.

The 6-foot-1, 185 pound cornerback out of Houston, Texas made his decision known via Twitter.

Humphrey visited Georgia on October 1, the weekend that UGA hosted Arkansas. Kipp Adams of 247Sports predicts Humphrey will wind up committing to UGA, per the outlet’s Crystal Ball on the player’s profile page.

Humphrey is the second Florida recruit to back off his commitment to the Gators in the last two weeks. Last week, Dan Mullen and UF lost a commitment from 4-star linebacker Shemar James, the No. 70 overall player in the nation.

Georgia is good position to make a run at both Humphrey and James.

Florida has the nation’s No. 23 ranked recruiting class for the 2022 cycle. Georgia is sitting at No. 1.

These two Florida commits have moved into the 247Sports Top 100

The Gators lost one top 100 recruit Wednesday morning, but 247Sports has now promoted two other Florida commits into the top 100 ahead of him.

247Sports updated its 2022 recruit rankings on Wednesday and two Florida commits have moved into the top 100. Athlete Isaiah Bond moved up from No. 148 to No. 83 and cornerback Julian Humphrey jumped from No. 116 to No. 85.

Bond is now the highest rated Florida commitment on 247Sports’ rankings, replacing the recently de-committed Shemar James. Both Bond and Humphrey are now rated higher than James, but he is still the highest rated on the 247Sports Composite List.

Humphrey has continued to take visits despite his commitment back in May. Georgia and Texas A&M are both keeping looking to flip him, but Florida is staying close too with an assistant coach set to attend Humphrey’s next game. Bond is a bit of a different story. He said he was locked into UF after visiting for the Alabama game earlier in the year.

Quarterback Nick Evers is Florida’s next highest-rated commit at No. 119. After moving up from No. 197, Evers is the next likely candidate to break into the top 100. The loss of James was a big blow to the Gators program, but at least the top players still committed are trending up.

Florida is still in play for some of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects, including the nation’s top receiver Evan Stewart. He moved up from No.8 to No. 4 overall, and landing him would be huge for Florida. Texas is now the crystal ball favorite, but it’s still a tight race.

Here are all of Florida football’s 2022 recruits, ranked

There’s a lot to love about this 2022 Gators recruiting class.

In the summer months, It’s easy to keep track of the recruiting trail. There’s not much else going on in Gator Nation during the off-season, so it’s only natural to look to the future. On the other hand, mid-season emotions make many things that felt important in June feel like minutia today.

The Gators are almost certainly not done recruiting from the class off 2022. It would be reasonable to expect as many as six more additions to this group as the team hasn’t yet hit it’s target number of players. The position groups likely to see another incoming player include the offensive line, tight ends, defensive backs, running backs, wide receivers and possibly even the defensive line.

Nonetheless, with the Alabama game — expected to be the biggest factor for this team in mid-season recruiting — in the rearview mirror, it’s a as good a time as any to revisit the batch of high schoolers who have committed to UF.

Elite recruits visiting UGA for Arkansas game

A bunch of elite high school football recruits are planning to attend the Arkansas at Georgia game.

A bunch of elite high school football recruits are planning to attend the Arkansas at Georgia game. The contest is set for an early kickoff at noon, but Sanford Stadium should be rocking.

Kirby Smart and Georgia football currently have more elite talent lined up for the future. In fact, Georgia has top-five ranked recruiting classes for 2022 and 2023.

Some fans at home will be relieved to know that Arch Manning is not among the recruits attending the game, so those watching on TV may actually hear commentary that’s focused on the game between the No. 11 and No. 2 teams in the country.

Here’s some of the top recruits who are planning to attend the Georgia versus Arkansas game:
