Giants’ Daniel Jones, Adoree’ Jackson among 4 out vs. Dolphins

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones and CB Adoree’ Jackson are among four out vs. the Miami Dolphins, while two wide receivers are doubtful.

The New York Giants enter Week 13 with an opportunity to get back into the playoff hunt, but they will have to do it extremely shorthanded.

Head coach Joe Judge announced on Friday that quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) had not been cleared for contact and was subsequently ruled out. Veteran Mike Glennon will draw the start in his place.

In addition to Jones, the news was nearly as bad for wide receivers Kadarius Toney and Sterling Shepard, each of whom were listed as doubtful.

Meanwhile, cornerback Adoree’ Jackson was also ruled out and right tackle Nate Solder was added to the injury report as questionable.

The Giants’ final injury report can be found below:

Out: QB Daniel Jones (neck), CB Adoree’ Jackson (quad), TE Kaden Smith (knee), LB Trent Harris (ankle)

Doubtful: WR Sterling Shepard (quad), WR Kadarius Toney (oblique/quad)

Questionable: LT Nate Solder (elbow), TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle), WR John Ross (illness/quad), FB Cullen Gillaspia (calf)

Meanwhile, the Dolphins’ final injury report can also be found below (awaiting further updates):

Giants injury report: Daniel Jones, Sterling Shepard limited in practice

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones and WR Sterling Shepard were limited in practice on Thursday. Six others did not participate.

The New York Giants once again took the practice field on Thursday and there was hope for some clarity among injured players.

Quarterback Daniel Jones strapped on his helmet and participated in his second consecutive practice. Offensive assistant Freddie Kitchens was matter-of-fact in saying he expects Jones to be under center in Week 13.

The news wasn’t nearly as positive for wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who was relegated to side work with trainers. His status for Sunday’s game in Miami is very much in doubt.

Things are uncertain for wide receiver Sterling Shepard as well. The veteran did limited on-field work — a step up from Wednesday — but likely needs to clear more hurdles before returning.

Finally, cornerback Adoree’ Jackson seemed somewhere in between working on the side and lingering on the field. Either way, his status does not appear promising.

Thursday’s full injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: LB Trent Harris (ankle), FB Cullen Gillaspia (calf), CB Adoree’ Jackson (quad), WR John Ross (illness), TE Kaden Smith (knee), WR Kadarius Toney (oblique/quad)

Limited participant: QB Daniel Jones (neck), TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle), WR Sterling Shepard (quad)

Full participant: N/A

Giants injury report: Adoree’ Jackson, seven others miss practice

New York Giants CB Adoree’ Jackson and WR Sterling Shepard were among eight who sat out during Wednesday’s walkthrough practice.

The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday ahead of a Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins. Understandably, there were a lot of questions in need of answers due to a growing injury pool.

All eyes were first on quarterback Daniel Jones, who suffered a neck injury last Sunday and may or may not play this coming weekend.

The good news? Jones strapped on his helmet and took to the field. Head coach Joe Judge wouldn’t rule him out for Sunday but cautioned that it’s a fluid situation.

Jones was more optimistic, downplaying the injury and admitting he feels a “responsibility” to play.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quad) and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson both stretched prior to practice, but were ultimately listed as non-participants.

For wide receiver Kadarius Toney (quad), things were even worse. He was off to the side with trainers and does not appear ready to go.

Wednesday’s full (projected/walkthrough) injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: LB Trent Harris (ankle), FB Cullen Gillaspia (calf), CB Adoree’ Jackson (quad), WR John Ross (illness), TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle), WR Sterling Shepard (quad), TE Kaden Smith (knee), WR Kadarius Toney (oblique/quad)

Limited participant: QB Daniel Jones (neck)

Xavier McKinney, Chris Myarick were highest-graded Giants in Week 12

Safety Xavier McKinney and TE Chris Myarick were the highest-graded New York Giants in a Week 12 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The New York Giants got back on the winning side of things with a 13-7 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 12. It wasn’t exactly pretty, but it certainly got the job done.

It was the defense who led the way — specifically the secondary — forcing four turnovers, including three interceptions of quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Unsurprisingly, safety Xavier McKinney led all defenders (and the team) with a 92.2 overall grade from Pro Football Focus. Just behind him were cornerback Aaron Robinson (67.0) and safety Julian Love (66.7).

Robinson’s coverage grade was just 58.1, the second-lowest on the team.

Other notable defensive grades include linebacker Azeez Ojulari (61.5), cornerback Darnay Holmes (56.6) and defensive lineman Leonard Williams (51.8).

The lowest-graded Giants defender was linebacker Tae Crowder (26.6).

On the offensive side of the ball, tight end Chris Myarick topped all others with a grade of 89.6. Just behind him were wide receiver John Ross (83.0), left tackle Andrew Thomas (71.5) and fullback Eli Penny (69.2).

Other notable offensive grades include wide receiver Kenny Golladay (67.8), quarterback Daniel Jones (66.2) and running back Saquon Barkley (56.7).

The lowest-graded Giants were tight end Evan Engram (52.0) and offensive tackle Matt Peart (43.4).

Giants injury report: Kadarius Toney, Sterling Shepard not practicing

New York Giants wide receivers Sterling Shepard and Kadarius Toney were among those not practicing on Wednesday.

The New York Giants returned to the practice field on Wednesday and it was Freddie Kitchens who was working with the quarterbacks. That role had been reserved for Jason Garrett, who was terminated by the team on Tuesday.

With that shift out of the way, focus returned to the players, who went through a walkthrough.

On the positive side of things, wide receiver Sterling Shepard (quad) was participating during the portion of practice open to the media but that was apparently extremely limited. He was eventually listed as DNP. Still, he’s inching in the right direction.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, wide receiver Kadarius Toney (quad) was not participating. Neither was safety Logan Ryan, who has not yet cleared COVID-19 protocols.

The Giants’ full (projected) Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: WR Sterling Shepard (quad), WR Kadarius Toney (quad), FB Cullen Gillaspia (calf), DB Nate Ebner (knee), TE Kaden Smith (knee), TE Kyle Rudolph (ankle)

Limited participant: WR Saquon Barkley (ankle), LB Lorenzo Carter (ankle), CB Adoree’ Jackson (quad), WR John Ross (quad)

Full participant: N/A

Giants’ Saquon Barkley out, Kenny Golladay questionable vs. Raiders

The New York Giants will be without RB Saquon Barkley and WR Sterling Shepard against the Raiders, but may get WR Kenny Golladay back.

The New York Giants had up to 20 false-positives for COVID-19 this week including running back Saquon Barkley. Because of that, and in addition to his sprained ankle, Barkley missed two days of practice.

As a result, Barkley will not return until at least Monday, November 22 when the Giants take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has been ruled out for Week 9.

In addition to Barkley, wide Sterling Shepard and several others have also been ruled out.

On the positive end of things, wide receiver Kenny Golladay returned to practice this week, and he was joined by fellow receiver John Ross. They have both been listed as questionable.

The Giants’ final injury report can be found below:

Out: RB Saquon Barkley (ankle/COVID protocol), LB Lorenzo Carter (ankle), DB Nate Ebner (ankle), WR Sterling Shepard (quad)

Doubtful: N/A

Questionable: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), WR John Ross (quad), RB Gary Brightwell (COVID protocol)

Meanwhile, for the Raiders, their final injury report was impressively thin:

Out: N/A

Doubtful: N/A

Questionable: N/A

Giants injury report: Kenny Golladay returns to practice, eight sit out

The New York Giants welcomed WR Kenny Golladay back to practice on Thursday, but eight did not participate – some due to COVID-19 protocols.

The New York Giants were back on the practice field on Thursday under some unusual circumstances.

On Tuesday through Wednesday, the Giants had in excess of 13 positive COVID-19 tests. However, they quickly determined many (see: most) were false positives and that an error had occurred.

The team paused rapid testing, re-tested the entire organization, canceled in-person press conferences and pushed the team’s entire schedule back. When they did finally take the field in East Rutherford, many were absent.

Due to the continued testing, several Giants did not participate in practice due to COVID-19 protocols. Others, including wide receiver John Ross, were added to the injury report for other reasons.

On the positive side of things, wide receiver Kenny Golladay (knee) returned to practice on a limited basis. He has an outside shot to play in Week 9.

The Giants’ full Thursday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: RB Saquon Barkley (ankle/COVID protocol), RB Gary Brightwell (COVID protocol), LB Lorenzo Carter (ankle), DB Nate Ebner (ankle), DB Xavier McKinney (COVID protocol), WR Dante Pettis (shoulder), TE Kyle Rudolph (personal), WR Sterling Shepard (quad)

Limited participant: WR Kenny Golladay (knee), WR John Ross (quad), TE Kaden Smith (knee), WR Kadarius Toney (thumb)

Full participant: OL Matt Skura (cleared COVID protocol)

Bengals compensatory pick update as John Ross sees snaps with Giants

The Bengals continue to look like they’ll get a comp pick thanks to John Ross.

A week ago, we noted that former Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick John Ross continued to be on a pace that would net his former team a compensatory draft pick.

That continued in Week 8 as Ross again saw the field for the New York Giants in his team’s 20-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Thanks to his continued playing time, in which he led the Giants in receiving with two catches for 72 yards, Ross continues to pace in a manner that would net the Bengals an extra fourth-round pick.

At the Giants’ current pace, Ross would need to play just over 300 snaps this year to let the Bengals get an extra draft pick — and he’s played 154 so far, per Nick Korte of Over The Cap:

Ross’ playing time is dipping a bit as the Giants rotate names at the third wideout spot. But his explosiveness down the field, again seen on Monday night, should keep him in the rotation.

John Ross, Logan Ryan were highest-graded Giants in Week 8

WR John Ross and S Logan Ryan earned the New York Giants’ highest offensive and defensive grades in a Week 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The New York Giants whiffed on an upset bid on Monday night, falling the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 20-17. They were undone by poor clock management, untimely penalties and back-breaking mistakes.

But there were some positives (if you care to hear about them), especially on the defensive side of the ball.

Safety and team captain, Logan Ryan, had his best game of the season and it was reflected in the Pro Football Focus grades. Ryan earned a unit-high grade of 79.2 (min. 15 snaps).

Just behind Ryan were cornerbacks James Bradberry (78.5) and Adoree’ Jackson (78.4), and safety Julian Love (69.1).

Other notable defensive grades include cornerback Darnay Holmes (66.0), defensive lineman Leonard Williams (60.7) and linebacker Oshane Ximines (52.7).

The lowest-graded Giants defenders were linebacker Tae Crowder (26.5) and Benardrick McKinney (23.9).

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver John Ross was the top dog with his grade of (90.3). Checking in just below Ross were tight end Kyle Rudolph (76.4), left guard Matt Skura (73.3) and, somehow, center Billy Price (71.1).

Other noteworthy offensive grades include left tackle Matt Peart (68.1), wide receiver Kadarius Toney (60.2), running back Devontae Booker (55.8) and quarterback Daniel Jones (47.3).

The lowest-graded Giants on offense were right guard Will Hernandez (41.8) and tight end Kaden Smith (39.5).

Giants fall to Chiefs: Winners, losers and those in between

Here are the winners, losers and those in between from the New York Giants’ Week 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The New York Giants went into a Week 8 game against the Kansas City Chiefs as significant underdogs but managed to keep things close until the end.

There’s no participation trophies in the NFL, however. Close only matters in horseshoes and hand grenades, so there will be no moral celebration in the Giants’ locker-room after surrendering a fourth quarter lead and leaving Arrowhead with a deflating loss.

With the loss, the Giants fall to 2-6 on the season — an all too familiar record — and now prepare for a Week 9 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Here’s a look at the winners and losers (and those in between) from Monday Night Football.
