Last week, 247 sports published their final recruiting rankings for the 2022 recruiting class. Among the players named on that list were UW commits Joe Brunner, Isaac Hamm, and Austin Brown.

The Badgers highest rated player on the list was four-star offensive tackle Joe Brunner. The Whitefish Bay product finished as the No. 143 overall prospect in the 2022 class, the No. 13 offensive tackle, and the No. 1 player in the state of Wisconsin.

Next on that list was four-star defensive end Isaac Hamm out of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The in-state edge rusher finished as the No. 215 overall prospect in the 2022 class, the No. 29 ranked defensive lineman, and the No. 4 player in the state of Wisconsin.

The third and final Wisconsin commit on the list was four-star safety Austin Brown. The Illinois native finished as the No. 226 overall prospect in the 2022 class, the No. 18 safety, and the No. 6 ranked player in the state of Illinois.

USA TODAY High School Sports recruiting rankings Power 5 spotlight: Big Ten

See the top 10 high school football recruits committed to Big Ten schools.

As recruiting for the high school football class of 2022 picks up, more and more schools are seeing who may be its superstars of the future.

Only two five-star players are committed to Big Ten schools as of Nov. 3, but there are 52 four-star recruits, the second-most of any conference.

Here’s a dive into the top-10 ranked players, according to the USA TODAY High School Sports Composite Player Rankings, The list averages the grades from the three biggest recruiting services: 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals.

For conferences that do not have 10 players in the top-100, the remainder of the list came from the 247Sports Composite Ranking. That does not apply to the Big Ten, which has 13 top-100 players.

Where Wisconsin 2022 OL commit Joe Brunner falls in USA TODAY’s Top 100 rankings

Where the 2022 Wisconsin commit falls in USA TODAY’s rankings

Earlier this morning, USA TODAY released their 2022 football recruiting rankings as they listed the top 100 players in the nation.

Wisconsin had one Badger State native and Badger commit on the list in OL Joe Brunner. Out of Milwaukee, Brunner is also seen as the No. 1 player in the state by 247Sports and has a four-star designation given by both 247Sports and Rivals. The offensive lineman took a visit to Wisconsin back on June 4, and after visits to Notre Dame and Ohio State officially decided on the Badgers at the end of June.

USA TODAY’s rankings have the OT at No. 54 overall in the class of 2022, making him the highest-ranked Badger commit in the group.

Wisconsin currently has 11 commits in the class of 2022, with Brunner being the lone four-star per 247Sports.

Where Wisconsin’s class of 2022 currently stands in 247Sports’ recruiting class ranking

The Badgers’ slot has a chance to get a lot better if they’re able to land commitments from Isaac Hamm, Billy Schrauth and Carson Hinzman…

The last month or so has seen the Wisconsin football program excel on the recruiting trail, landing a majority of recruits to take an official visit to the school.

Many of their top targets still remain uncommitted, so there is still a big possibility the class quickly ascends in the national recruiting rankings.

But as of today, July 18, where does the group stand in 247Sports’ recruiting class ranking?

[listicle id=28041]

The 11-commit class sits at No. 38 in the country and No. 10 in the Big Ten.

The headliner of the group thus far is four-star offensive tackle Joe Brunner, the state of Wisconsin’s No. 1-ranked recruit in the class.

But even though the program currently sits behind every Big Ten team aside from Purdue, Maryland, Nebraska and Iowa, commitments from highly-touted targets including Isaac Hamm, Carson Hinzman and Billy Schrauth would quickly make their ranking look a lot better.

The program won’t replicate 2021’s program-best effort this cycle. But if the in-state players stay home and the Badgers are able to land one or two more four-star recruits from out-of-state, it’ll become yet another solid recruiting cycle for Paul Chryst and his staff.

Ohio State loses out on four-star 2022 offensive lineman

Welp. One got away. Can’t blame a kid for staying home, however.

The Ohio State Buckeyes were in hot pursuit of four-star offensive lineman and the number one player in Wisconsin in the 2022 class, Joe Brunner. Unfortunately for Buckeye nation, the Wisconsin Badgers were the lucky program to catch the white whale, or more appropriately white fish.

This choice should not come as a surprise considering Brunner is from Whitefish Bay, which is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There were still a few people that thought Brunner may spurn his hometown team, but sure enough, he becomes the highest-rated member of the Wisconsin 2022 recruiting class.

When Brunner announced his top three schools, Ohio State made the cut along with Notre Dame and obviously Wisconsin. There was a glimmer of hope for the Buckeyes when Brunner took an official visit to Columbus, but this one will go down as a loss.

BREAKING: Wisconsin lands 2022 OL Joe Brunner, the No. 1 player in the Badger State

Wisconsin lands the No. 1 player in the Badger State class of 2022:

A phenomenal couple of weeks for Wisconsin football continued on Tuesday as the Badgers landed their highest-ranked recruit of the 2022 cycle.

In a race that came down to Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, top Badger State recruit Joe Brunner is staying home. The Whitefish Bay High School star announced his commitment to Wisconsin via Twitter on Tuesday.

Brunner is the top player in the 2022 class from Wisconsin according to 247Sports, and becomes the top commit in the Badger class so far as a high four-star prospect. The Milwaukee native became the ninth commit in the Wisconsin class of 2022 and the second offensive lineman to choose the Badgers (Barrett Nelson).

Nelson played at both RT and DL during his junior season at Whitefish Bay and earned AP all-state recognition as well as being a first-team all-conference selection. The 6-foot-6 lineman becomes the fourth Badger State commit in the Wisconsin class so far.

Nine Wisconsin targets will be on campus for official visits in early June

Reports surfaced yesterday of the NCAA ending its recruiting dead period on June 1, a period that had been repeatedly extended due to COVID

Reports surfaced yesterday of the NCAA ending its recruiting dead period on June 1, a period that had been repeatedly extended due to COVID-19.

In light of the news, it’s been announced over the last few days that nine Wisconsin targets in the class of 2022 will be on campus for official visits during the first weekend of June.

Here are those nine players and where they stand in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings:

Two Wisconsin targets included in USATODAY’s list of ‘The top offensive linemen in the class of 2022’

USATODAY High School Sports published the 22 top offensive linemen in the class of 2022 today and included in the list are two of Wisconsin

USATODAY High School Sports published the 22 top offensive linemen in the class of 2022 today and included in their list are two of Wisconsin’s top targets in the class.

They are four-star OT Joe Brunner in at No. 7 and four-star OG Carson Hinzman in at No. 14.

Brunner and Hinzman are both Wisconsin natives, are the state’s No. 1 and No. 2 class of 2022 recruits respectively and both have crystal ball predictions to the Badgers.

Wisconsin has built some impressive momentum on the recruiting trail after landing a program-best class of 2021. One of the foundations of that success is landing the top in-state talent.

While Myles Burkett is the program’s only commitment in the class, signs point towards their recruiting momentum continuing as the recruiting cycle continues to heat up.
