Panthers PFF grades: Best and worst from Week 14 vs. Falcons

PFF charged Panthers rookie Brady Christensen with a team-worst three pressures in his first start at RG. Perhaps he isn’t more of an interior lineman after all.

Much was made during the buildup to Sunday’s matchup, at least by Carolina Panthers fans on the Twitter machine, about head coach Matt Rhule’s stance on rookie offensive lineman Brady Christensen. Despite some pushback, he remained firm that the 2021 third-rounder is more of natural guard than he is a tackle.

Well, Christensen played the interior in Week 14 against the Atlanta Falcons. And let’s just say, at least according to Pro Football Focus, that some of you might be wanting to take a victory lap.

Check out some of the Panthers’ 2021 causes through their special Week 14 kicks.

Continuing in the NFL’s annual tradition, the Carolina Panthers brought out their passions as part of 2022’s “My Cause My Cleats” for Week 14.

Let’s take a look at some of the players’ special kicks and the causes they represented during the team’s Sunday contest against the Atlanta Falcons.

Jeremy Chinn Week 14 jersey watch: Charlotte FC Kit

Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn is one of many Charlotteans ready to kick off into a new adventure for 2022.

The focus of this week’s jersey watch for Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn was more of a “what” than a “who.” And that “what” is coming soon to a Bank of America Stadium near you.

Chinn sported the Charlotte FC kit heading into the team’s Week 14 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons. Charlotte FC, the first Major League Soccer franchise in the city’s history, is set to kick off for the upcoming 2022 season.

The club was founded by Panthers owner David Tepper on Dec. 17, 2019. Tepper, upon his transition to Carolina, had previously throw hints for the mint as one of his initiatives as the new head honcho in Charlotte.

MLS action in the Queen City will officially begin at Bank of America Stadium on March 5, 2022.

The kit now joins this list of Carolina legends Chinn has honored throughout the year:

Preseason Week 2: Charlotte Hornets guard Muggsy Bogues
Preseason Week 3
: Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers
Week 1: Davidson College guard Stephen Curry
Week 2: University of South Carolina wide receiver Sterling Sharpe
Week 5: Carolina Hurricanes center Rod Brind’Amour

Panthers PFF grades: Best and worst from Week 11 vs. Washington

Cam Newton was back amongst the top of PFF grades for the Panthers in Week 11. Who joined him?

One of the most memorable days in Carolina Panthers franchise history went down at Bank of America Stadium in Week 11. That, however, didn’t necessarily mean the team played one of its cleanest games ever.

Here’s the two cents over from Pro Football Focus on the best and worst performances in the Panthers’ 27-21 loss to the Washington Football Team.

Carolina Panthers vs. Washington Football Team game recap: Everything we know

Cam Newton and the Panthers didn’t get the Hollywood ending in Week 11, but it was a memorable day nonetheless.

Well, Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers didn’t get the Hollywood ending to Sunday’s matchup against the Washington Football Team. Nonetheless, it was still one heck of a story.

Here’s everything we know about the Panthers’ Week 11 loss.

Jeremy Chinn Week 11 jersey watch: Las Vegas Aces F A’ja Wilson

Panthers S Jeremy Chinn honored WNBA superstar A’ja Wilson, who made an indelible mark on South Carolina basketball.

For this week’s selection, Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn went down to the Palmetto State—where you can find the hometown of one of the planet’s best ballers.

The threads of Hopkins, S.C. native A’ja Wilson were next in line for Chinn’s season-long tribute to Carolina sports legends. And Wilson, the star forward for the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, certainly made her mark in the territory.

We can start with her high school career, where she dominated at Heathwood Hall Episcopal in Columbia. There, she averaged over 24 points, almost 14 rebounds and more than four blocks a game—earning her National High School Player of the year honors in 2014, a McDonald’s All-American nod and the No. 1 spot atop ESPN’s HoopGurlz prospects list.

Wilson then went on to play at the University of South Carolina. In her four years as a Gamecock, she collected a National title and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 2017. She followed that with 2018’s Consensus National Player of the Year award and was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft soon after.

Since going pro, Wilson has added to that plentiful trophy case with the 2018 Rookie of the Year honors, the 2020 Most Valuable Player honors and Olympic gold from the 2020 Tokyo games.

Preseason Week 2: Charlotte Hornets guard Muggsy Bogues

Panthers’ statistical leaders going into Week 10

Through just two games and 33 snaps, Panthers CB Stephon Gilmore is already tied for the team lead in interceptions.

Do you think the Carolina Panthers’ pittance of an investment for Stephon Gilmore is paying off yet? We’d say so.

Check out Gilmore and the rest of the team’s statistical leaders as we move into Week 10.

Jeremy Chinn Week 9 jersey watch: NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Panthers S Jeremy Chinn steered his way into Week 9 with a nod to NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr.

This week’s “jersey watch” for Carolina Panthers safety Jeremy Chinn is a little different. Because this time, it’s more of a “racing suit” watch.

On Sunday, the second-year defensive back continued his 2021 home-game routine of wearing a Carolina sports legend’s threads to the stadium. Week 9’s legend is race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Born to another racing legend in Dale Earnhardt Sr., the Kannapolis, N.C. native went on to become one of the most popular figures in the history of NASCAR. He totaled 26 wins over his nearly 20-year Cup Series career, including a pair of Daytona 500 victories (2004 and 2014).

Earnhardt Jr. is set to be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Jan. 21. 2022, which is just a stone’s throw away from Bank of America Stadium.

Here are the men Chinn has previously honored this season:

Preseason Week 2: Charlotte Hornets guard Muggsy Bogues
Preseason Week 3
: Carolina Panthers defensive end Julius Peppers
Week 1: Davidson College guard Stephen Curry
Week 2: University of South Carolina wide receiver Sterling Sharpe
Week 5: Carolina Hurricanes center Rod Brind’Amour
Week 6: Homestead Grays first baseman Buck Leonard

Panthers snap count standouts: One last week without Shaq Thompson?

The absence of LB Shaq Thompson has forced the Panthers to move around their Chess pieces. That approach was no different in the Week 7 loss to the Giants.

The Carolina Panthers and defensive coordinator Phil Snow have had to get a bit resourceful during the ongoing absence of linebacker Shaq Thompson. And although they wish the results over the past three weeks were better, as quarterback Sam Darnold would say . . . “it is what it is.”

So here’s what it was for the Panthers and their distribution of snaps in the Week 7 loss to the New York Giants.
