Jaylen Brown named East finals MVP, wins 2024 Larry Bird Trophy

Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown has won the Larry Bird Trophy after being named the MVP of the 2024 Eastern Conference finals.

The Boston Celtics are headed back to the NBA Finals after sweeping the Indiana Pacers in the previous round. Jaylen Brown was a key contributor in the final game, logging a team-high 29 points in the win, securing a shot at an 18th banner in the process.

Brown’s teammate Jayson Tatum won the inaugural East finals MVP award in 2022 after helping Boston punch a ticket to that season’s championship round. And while Tatum was a major piece of the puzzle this time around, it was Brown who was the most important guy in green. Brown was the hero of Game 1, sending things to overtime with a heroic 3-point shot from the corner. In Game 2, he tied a postseason career-best with 40 points, delivering another Celtics win. On the defensive end, he used his unique physicality and speed to pester Indiana on the perimeter, equally significant for Boston’s fortunes.

Congratulations to Jaylen Brown for winning the 2024 Eastern Conference finals MVP award.

Lou WIlliams reveals the dirt on how Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum really get along

Williams recently shed some light on how tight the two Boston wings actually are off the court.

There has been entirely too much speculation about the relationship between star Boston Celtics forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. But retired NBAer Lou Williams recently shed some light on how tight the two Boston wings actually are during an interview on FanDuel TV.

“I’ll open the curtain up, they absolutely do hang out,” said Williams (h/t Boston Dot Com’s Colin McCarthy. “I’ve been a person that’s been with them on several occasions, but they’re both private men. They don’t live these lives where cameras are following them everywhere … They’re private about their personal lives, they’re private about their families, they’re private about how they move.”

“I’ve seen them on a number of occasions, hanging out, being friends,” added Williams.

Of course, players do not NEED to be friends to succeed together on the basketball court.

But for those among us tired of hearing about how they supposedly do not care for each other all that much, this particular nugget is a nice data point to the contrary.

Jaylen Brown’s attitude could be hurting his marketability according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith

Jaylen Brown’s attitude could be hurting his off-court marketability.

Jaylen Brown is among the best players in the NBA. The Boston Celtics All-Star has emerged as a genuine offensive weapon for Joe Mazzulla’s team and is arguably a top-20 player in the world. However, Brown is often overlooked by his peers, with the latest example being his exclusion from the 2024 All-NBA teams.

According to a source who messaged Stephen A. Smith during a recent episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” Brown has an offputting attitude. His ‘I’m better than you’ demeanor hurts his reputation around the league and his marketability off the floor.

“I wanted to read to y’all what an NBA source just sent me,” Smith said. “He said, ‘Jaylen Brown. It’s not so much that he’s underrated. It’s that he just not liked because of his ‘I am better than you attitude.’ He knows it. It’s the same reason he is not as marketable as he should be.’ That’s what an NBA source just sent me.”

Irrespective of Brown’s perceived attitude issues, he has been a dominant force on both sides of the ball this season. He will likely feel aggrieved that he’s been overlooked for an All-NBA team.

Brown will likely get over his recent snubs and his apparent bad reputation within the NBA if he can help the Celtics secure a championship this season. After all, the best way to live up to an ‘I’m better than you’ mindset is to prove it by becoming a champion.

Is Jaylen Brown the Boston Celtics’ best player?

Kendrick Perkins believes that Jaylen Brown is the best player on the Boston Celtics roster.

Jaylen Brown exploded for a 40-point performance as the Boston Celtics secured their second straight win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday (May 23). His impressive performance came hot on the heels of being snubbed in the All-NBA voting process. Furthermore, Brown’s performance helped the Celtics continue working toward a potential spot in the NBA Finals.

When speaking on a recent episode of ESPN’s “NBA Today,” former Celtics champion Kendrick Perkins declared that Brown is the best player on Boston’s roster. The debate between Brown and Jayson Tatum has been raging for years and often overlooks the value the pair bring to the table as the best wing duo in the NBA.

Nevertheless, Brown is enjoying the best season of his career. He’s thriving as an interior and mid-range scorer and has emerged as an elite on-ball defender against some of the most talented players in the NBA.

In truth, it doesn’t matter who the best player on the Celtics roster is. What matters is that everyone is working toward the bigger goal and sacrificing for the team.

You can hear Perkins’ comments in full by clicking on the embedded link above.

Jaylen Brown had a very valid (and NSFW) response for why he doesn’t care about being snubbed from the All-NBA teams

NBA Finals > All-NBA

The 2024 All-NBA teams were revealed earlier this week, and shockingly, Jaylen Brown was not included in any of them.

READ MORE: Five players with the most to gain (and lose) from the All-NBA selections

Don’t get me wrong — it’s fine that he wasn’t on an All-NBA team, but there’s still a legitimate argument that he probably should’ve been on one of them.

Brown played for the best team in the NBA. It felt like a sure thing that Boston would get at least two All-NBA selections this season. Naturally, Brown and Jayson Tatum would be the likeliest two. He was also an All-Star this season and a legitimate two-way threat on both ends of the court.

Add all those things together and you’d think you’d have an All-NBA season on your hands. NOPE. Not according to voters.

As shocking as it is, Brown is unbothered by it. Brown was asked why he didn’t care about being snubbed after Game 2 against the Pacers. This was his response:

WARNING: There is some NSFW language in this video

“I mean, we’re two games from the Finals,” Brown said. “Honestly, I don’t got the time to give a [expletive].”

SHEESH. That was unexpected. But…also, it’s fair. The Celtics came into the season with the goal of winning a championship as the team’s top priority.

Plus, Brown already got paid for making an All-NBA team last year. Nearly $300 million probably makes you feel a lot better about things.

Clearly, Brown is locked in.

Deuce Tatum trolled Jaylen Brown with a fake high five after the Celtics star had 40 points in the playoffs

Deuce Tatum hit Jaylen Brown with the “down low, too slow” move.

Celtics star Jaylen Brown had a fantastic game against the Pacers and after the victory, he was met with a surprise in the Boston locker room.

Brown, who scored 40 points while adding five rebounds, helped his team secure a 2-0 series lead over Indiana in the Eastern Conference Finals. It seemed like he was about to receive well-earned congratulations from Deuce Tatum, the son of fellow Boston star Jayson Tatum.

Just when it appeared like Brown was about to get a high five from the 6-year-old Deuce, however, he was met with a fake out. Instead, Deuce hit him with the classic “down low, too slow” gag.

That has to be a tough feeling if you’re Brown, but at least it’s nothing personal. After all, this is not the first time we have seen Deuce troll someone who wanted a high five.

He also left Donovan Mitchell hanging during a hilarious interaction last season.

If the Celtics keep winning and make the NBA Finals, expect to see more amazing moments featuring Deuce this postseason.

Jrue Holiday, Derrick White make NBA All-Defensive teams, but no Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown

The Stock Exchange deserved it, but what about the Jays?

The so-called “Stock Exchange” — the defensive menace in the Boston Celtics‘ backcourt of Boston guards Jrue Holiday and Derrick White — made the NBA All-Defense Second Team this week, while star Celtics forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum didn’t receive many votes for the honor.

A few days later, we would learn that Tatum would be honored with a First Team All-NBA nod, but Brown is on the outside looking in despite being one of if not the best players on Boston’s roster for much of the latter half of the season and the playoffs. Was the Georgia native snubbed?

CLNS Media reporter Bobby Manning recaps the two defensive teams and where the two Celtics snubs finished in voting on a recent episode of the “Garden Report” podcast. Check it out below!

Patriots CB Isaiah Bolden’s live reaction to Celtics-Pacers game was incredible

Live reactions don’t get any better than this

The NBA Eastern Conference Finals opened up with a bang on Tuesday night, as the Boston Celtics defeated the Indiana Pacers.

Multiple Patriots players were in attendance and got a good view of Jaylen Brown’s game-tying shot late in the fourth quarter, which ultimately pushed the game into overtime.

The Celtics were victorious by a 133-128 margin.

Everyone from Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to cornerback Isaiah Bolden reacted to the game. However, Bolden’s reaction of Brown’s clutch 3-point shot might have been the best. To say he was excited would be a huge understatement.

It’s always awesome to see fellow Boston sports team supporting each other. There could be more sightings of Patriots players soon, in what promises to be an exciting series.

Guy Fieri’s reaction to Jaylen Brown’s game-tying 3 made for the perfect photo

Jaylen Brown hit an incredible “BANG! BANG!” corner three-pointer to help send the Boston Celtics to overtime against the Indiana Pacers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals (although he should have been fouled before that!). And as we’ve seen over the years at various sporting events, the great Guy Fieri made a cameo in the background, reacting with amazement at that bucket with so many other fans.

It’s just so Forrest Gump that this has happened a few times. There’s Fieri on Hard Knocks! There he is at a Patriots game! And now, this:

Watch: Jaylen Brown forces OT in Game 1 of the East finals

Jaylen Brown banked in a clutch 3-pointer in Game 1 of the East finals, forcing overtime en route to a Celtics win.

The Boston Celtics grabbed a 133-128 overtime victory over the Indiana Pacers Tuesday night, moving to 1-0 to open the Eastern Conference finals. But this victory was far from easy for Boston.

The Celtics were down in the final moments of the fourth quarter as the Pacers offense continued to generate buckets. Down 3 points with one a few seconds remaining, All-Star Jaylen Brown forced a turnover with 8 seconds left in the game to earn Boston a possession down 3 points underneath the Pacers basket. The ensuing play saw Brown take and make a corner 3-pointer to tie the game and force overtime. From there the Celtics took care of business, securing a 133-128 win.

Check out the improbable shot from Brown courtesy of Bleacher Report’s YouTube page.
