Everything Nate Oats said following Alabama’s win over No. 1 Houston

Everything Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats said following the Crimson Tide’s 71-65 win over No. 1 Houston.

[autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and the Alabama men’s basketball team went on the road on Saturday and took down Kelvin Sampson and the No. 1 ranked Houston Cougars.

Not only did Alabama get the impressive win, but the Tide also had to recover from a 15-point second-half deficit to win the matchup between top-ten teams.

Alabama was led by freshman big man Noah Clowney who tallied 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Star forward Brandon Miller did not have his best game of the season, but the freshman came through in the clutch sinking all six of his free throws in the final minute to seal the victory for the Tide.

Here is everything coach Oats had to say following the monumental win.

Alabama MBB offers 2024 SG from Ohio, Jonathan Powell

Alabama offers highly sought-after 2024 shooting guard Jonathan Powell.

On Saturday, 2024 guard Jonathan Powell announced via Twitter that Alabama had reached out with an official offer. It is offer No. 10 for Powell up to this point.

Powell is listed at 6-foot-6 and 170 pounds. His size is something that head coach Nate Oats would love to have. In the past, he has had taller shooting guards in John Petty Jr. and Josh Primo who both stood at 6-foot-6.

Thus far, the Ohio native has impressed quite a number of coaches. Programs like Ohio State, Illinois, Notre Dame and Texas A&M have extended offers.

According to On3’s RPM, he is favored to commit to Xavier at 24.4% likelihood. There is not a clear favorite to land Powell. Perhaps, Alabama can come into the mix in the near future.

Powell is being recruited primarily by assistant coach and stellar recruiter Bryan Hodgson. Over the years, Hodgson has been the lead recruiter for [autotag]Jaden Bradley[/autotag], [autotag]Brandon Miller[/autotag], [autotag]Charles Bediako[/autotag], and Josh Primo. The Tide hope that Powell pays them a visit in the future.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama basketball as the offseason continues and the coaching staff hits the recruiting trail.

With the signing of [autotag]Anthony Black[/autotag] on Wednesday, Arkansas now takes the top spot in the SEC with three five-star signees to join their programs for next year.

Black joins [autotag]Nick Smith[/autotag] and [autotag]Jordan Walsh[/autotag] as five-star rated athletes by 247sports for the Class of 2022. Black announced his commitment on March 28 during the Powerade Slamfest during McDonald’s All-American week in Chicago, Ill.

The other five-star commit for Alabama, Brandon Miller, a 6-3 PG from Antioch, Tenn. has already signed his letter of intent.

5-star PG Jaden Bradley commits to Alabama: ‘Not just a football school’

Jaden Bradley committed to the Alabama men’s basketball team, marking the second consecutive year the Crimson Tide got a five-star recruit.

For the second year in a row, Alabama men’s basketball has picked up the commitment of a five-star prospect.

On Thursday, IMG Academy point guard Jaden Bradley committed to the Crimson Tide.

Bradley is ranked on the 247Sports Composite as the No. 18 player in his class and No. 3 point guard.

Alabama got its 2022 class started with a bang, getting the five-star as its first commit. The Crimson Tide is “heavily in the mix” for more elite prospects, according to ESPN, with five-star forwards Brandon Miller and Jarace Walker considering the program.

This is the second class in a row in which Alabama got a five-star player. J.D. Davison, considered the No. 12 player in the 2021 class, is preparing for his first season with the Crimson Tide.

Alabama is known best for its football program, and Bradley said he met football head coach Nick Saban. Saban emphasized that football isn’t the only important sport on campus.

“He likes Coach Oats and said Alabama has a culture of winning in all sports,” Bradley told ESPN. “That it’s not just a football school.”

Last year, Alabama won 26 games, the most since 2002. The school’s .788 winning percentage was the best since 1987.

Bradley averaged 17.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 6.1 assists in the Nike EYBL circuit last season.

Honest evaluation of five-star Alabama basketball commit Jaden Bradley

Wow! Nate Oats does it again with a commit from one of the top PGs in the country! He is a stud, for sure. Read on for a full evaluation!

Roll Tide!

Ladies and gentlemen, Alabama head basketball coach Nate Oats has done it, again.

The first commitment for Oats and the Crimson Tide basketball team for the 2022 cycle is a good one.

Jaden Bradley is a 6-3, 185 pounds PG who is currently playing his high-schools ball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL. He is rated as the No. 3 point guard in the nation, and the No. 18 overall player, according to 247Sports’ composite ranking.

Let’s get right into a comprehensive film study of this future Crimson Tide floor-general!

Vitals

Height  6-3
 Weight  185 pounds
 Rating  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ranking  No. 3 PG, No. 8 Ovr.

Bradley plays what I like to call a true PG role. He is fantastic with keeping the ball moving, can dish perfect passes most of the time. Doesn’t make too many bad decisions on the floor.

His size is great for his position. Managing the game is certainly a strong-suit for Bradley, he loves to get others involved to put his team in the best position to win the games.

His straight-line speed is remarkable, and he displays solid body control. You can tell that he practices a three-man weave with his team often, he can maneuver through traffic seamlessly.

His favorite shot is from mid-range, but he can hit a three-pointer when he needs to keep the defense honest.

Bradley shows quick hands on defense, a note I would include is that he needs to improve his lateral quickness and foot-work on the defensive.

He certainly shows the potential to improve on a yearly basis, and his plateau should be good enough to earn himself a late first round to early second round selection if he were to be a one-year-and-done player. I could see him reaching the middle-first round if he can hang around for at least two years.

Overall, this get is a tremendous addition to the already very talented Crimson Tide roster.

Expect more big-time commitments from Nate Oats and Co. in due time.

IMG Academy five-star PG sets Michigan basketball official visit

Michigan basketball is set to get the first official visit from the No. 9 player in the country.

Michigan basketball already reeled in a 2021 five-star from the prestigious Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy in forward Moussa Diabate. Can the Wolverines reel in another?

As the maize and blue focuses on the 2022 class and the NCAA dead period comes to an end on Tuesday, big time recruits are looking to make it to college campuses. And that includes IMG Academy five-star point guard Jaden Bradley.

Rated No. 9 overall, regardless of position, and the No. 2 point guard in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports Composite, Bradley is one of the top players in the country. And he’ll get his first taste of Juwan Howard’s program this week, as Michigan is set to get his first official visit, starting on June 4.

The Wolverines enter the 2022 cycle with momentum after inking the nation’s top-rated class in 2021.

Currently, Bradley has three 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, with two indicating that he’ll end up at Kentucky and one vote for North Carolina.

Phenom Hoops Showcase: Five-star point guard Jaden Bradley living up to the hype

Jaden Bradley is widely regarded as the No. 1 point guard in the 2022 class and he’s living up to that hype.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Last season as a freshman, Cannon School (Concord, North Carolina) point guard Jaden Bradley didn’t mind wearing the “young” label as he navigated his way through high-level competition while wearing “the next big thing” label.

“I learned a lot last season,” said Bradley, widely regarded as the top point guard in the 2022 class. “This season I am trying to take my gym to the next level.”

That much was evident in his season-opening win over North Carolina powerhouse Carmel Christian (Matthews), posting 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals. He kept that dominance going Friday at the Phenom Hoops National High School Showcase, posting 27 points in a 79-75 win over Greenfield School (Wilson, North Carolina).

“I just have a different mindset this season,” said Bradley, who added that he’s getting most of his interest from SEC and ACC schools. “I just want to be more of a leader and improve in every area of my game basically. I just have to keep working.”

That’s how Bradley combats the pressure of living up to the hype of being the top point guard in the class. He held firm in that regard this summer averaging 15 points and five assists for B. Maze Elite in the Under Armour Association.

“I don’t feel like there’s pressure because I just keep working,” Bradley said. “I’m not one of those players that thinks he’s already made it. I know I have to get better on both ends of the court. As long as I keep that mindset of always wanting to improve I’ll be fine.”
