5 Alabama football players that Tide fans should be excited about this fall

Five Alabama football players that Tide fans should be excited to see this fall!

Despite being more than two months away from the start of the 2023 college football season, it truly feels like it is just around the corner. Before you know it, Nick Saban and the Alabama football team will be taking the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium to play the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders on Sept. 2.

There are plenty of questions Tide fans want answered leading up the kickoff, but let’s not waste our time on the unknown. Instead, let’s turn our attention to some of the players Alabama fans should be excited to see this fall.

Let’s roll!

Five offensive veterans who need a big season in 2023

5 offensive veterans who need a big season for the Tide in 2023!

We are just a little more than 100 days away from Nick Saban and the Alabama football team kicking the 2023 season off on Sept. 2 against Middle Tennessee State inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Even though the offseason can seem long and insufferable, is there really ever an offseason with all the outlets that produce non-stop content on the Crimson Tide? That’s why you can count on Roll Tide Wire to be there every step of the way.

We have already looked at five second-year offensive and defensive players who could impact the 2023 season. Now let’s turn our attention to the veteran players who need to step up this fall for the Tide!

Alabama Football: Projecting stat leaders for the 2023 season

Roll Tide Wire projects which Alabama Football players will lead in each of the major stat categories heading into the 2023 season.

Alabama will have no shortage of talent to choose from for the 2023 season. The Tide brought in five transfers and signed the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the country. Not to mention, the Tide will return several of its key starters from a season ago.

Altogether, Alabama is poised to be a contender in the SEC, and a College Football Playoff hopeful.

With quarterback Bryce Young and outside linebacker Will Anderson Jr. heading to the NFL, Alabama will have to rely on some new faces. Additionally, there could be some other new faces at different positions as well.

Post-spring depth chart projections for Alabama’s wide receivers

Projecting Alabama’s wide receiver depth chart post-spring!

Now that spring football has officially wrapped up and the 2023 NFL draft is complete, it is time to shift our focus to the offseason.

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide have a ton of questions marks exiting spring and fans are chomping at the bit for answers.

So as we dive into the dog days of summer, I thought we could take a look, position by position, and project the possible depth chart for the 2023 Alabama football team post-spring.

Together we have already taken a look at the quarterbacks and running backs and today we will continue our dive into the offensive skill positions and glance at the wide receivers.

Let’s roll!

Tommy Rees brings a little more ‘swag’ according to Ja’Corey Brooks

According to Ja’Corey Brooks, Alabama’s new offensive coordinator Tommy Rees is bringing a little more ‘swag’ to the Crimson Tide offense.

In just a couple of weeks, Alabama football fans will be officially introduced to the Tommy Rees offense when the Crimson Tide take the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium for the annual A-Day game.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban made somewhat of an outside-the-box hire when he brought in Rees from Notre Dame. Rees is extremely young and lacks a ton of experience calling plays at the collegiate level.

On Wednesday afternoon before the Tide held its seventh practice of the spring, junior wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks spoke to the media and was asked about his early impressions of Rees.

“I wouldn’t say too much is new, but it’s a lot different. I’d say he is younger, got a little more swag in him. Everything is like, we can relate more.”

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that coach Rees has connected with the players so well. At 30 years old, Rees is just 10-12 years older than most of the players on the team.

It will be interesting to see what new wrinkles the young offensive guru will introduce into the Alabama offense and how well the players can execute his plan.

WATCH: Ja’Corey Brooks makes incredible catch over Kool-Aid McKinstry

Ja’Corey Brooks vs. Kool-Aid McKinstry steals the show at Alabama’s football practice!

On Thursday, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team hit the practice field for the fifth time this spring.

Although Alabama keeps practice footage at a minimum, on Thursday afternoon the official Twitter account released a short clip of one of the best catches you will see!

Junior wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks can be seen catching an incredible pilon pass that appears to be thrown by Jalen Milroe in a one-on-one matchup against perhaps the top cornerback in the country, Kool-Aid McKinstry.

Alabama captioned the video clip with the saying “iron sharpens iron”, which perfectly encapsulates what was happening between Brooks and McKinstry.

Check it out!

A deep dive into the Alabama wide receiver room ahead of spring practice!

We are now just a couple of weeks out from [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football team taking the practice field to begin spring ball.

As is the case each offseason, there are many questions that need to be answered before the Tide hit the field to start the 2023 season.

As spring practice creeps closer, we are going to break down each position group on both sides of the ball. We have already looked at the quarterbacks, running backs, defensive line, tight ends, outside linebackers, and inside linebackers.

Today we will head back to the offensive side of the ball and take a dive into the Alabama wide receivers.

Alabama football names this week’s Student-Athletes of the Week

Latham, Brooks, and Brockerymeyer have earned the honor of Student-Athletes of the Week!

On Thursday, the Alabama football team released this week’s Student-Athletes of the Week recipients.

Defensive lineman Jah-Marien Latham, wide receiver Ja’Corey Brooks, and offensive lineman James Brockermeyer have taken home the honor this week.

Latham is entering his fourth season in Tuscaloosa and began to see his role increase in the latter part of the 2022 season and should be in store for a solid year in 2023.

Brooks is a third-year player who is unquestionably one of the leaders on the Alabama offense heading into the 2023 season.

Brockermeyer is also entering his third season with the Crimson Tide and will likely be Alabama’s No. 2 center behind returning starter Seth McLaughlin.

Congratulations to these young men for their outstanding work in the classroom and on the gridiron.

Alabama football coaches recognize 12 players following Iron Bowl win over Auburn

Nick Saban and his staff selected 12 total players as players of the week following Alabama’s 49-27 win over Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

On Monday, following Alabama’s 49-27 win over their arch-rivals the Auburn Tigers, the Crimson Tide coaching staff selected a total of 12 members of the team as players of the week.

On offense, the coaching staff selected a total of seven players including star quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] who accumulated over 300 yards passing on the day. The coaching staff also recognized all of the starting offensive linemen including Tyler Booker who splits time at guard with Javion Cohen.

The defense was represented by Will Anderson and Brian Branch while Ja’Corey Brooks, James Burnip, and Emmanuel Henderson got the nod with their roles on special teams.

Here is what the coaching staff credited each player with on Alabama’s official website rolltide.com.

Bryce Young continues to make the impossible look easy on wild TD pass

Bryce Young tosses another TD pass against Auburn, but no one knows how he did it.

Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is likely playing in his final game in Bryant-Denny Stadium, as the junior star is expected to depart from the program for the 2023 NFL draft. Well, he’s certainly putting on a show for the home crowd one last time.

In the Iron Bowl matchup against Auburn, Young has made multiple impressive plays through the air and on the ground.

To extend the Crimson Tide’s lead to 14, Young throws a line drive into a crowded corner of the end zone, where Ja’Corey Brooks catches the ball seemingly uncontested.

Alabama leads the Tigers in the second quarter 28-14.

Here’s what Twitter had to say.
