The Philadelphia Eagles are adding two more names to their close contacts list and the team just announced that veteran defensive end Vinny Curry and running back Corey Clement will be placed on the RESERVE/COVID-19 list.

Earlier on Thursday, the Eagles announced that a player had tested positive for COVID-19 and three players had been placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Second-year wide receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was reportedly that player, with John Hightower being added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list and practice squad wide receiver Deontay Burnett being added as well.

Ian Rapoport is now reporting that although Hightower missed practice, he wasn’t deemed high risk, while Curry and Clement were and will now quarantine waiting for negative test results.

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the Eagles once again.

The coronavirus pandemic has impacted the Eagles once again and Geoff Mosher is reporting that Philadelphia is placing wide receivers J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, John Hightower, and Deontay Burnett on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Tim McManus of ESPN.com confirmed the news.

The Eagles confirmed the news and released this statement on the matter.

The Reserve/COVID-19 list was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been in close contact with an infected person or persons.

For Arcega-Whiteside, it means if he’s not showing symptoms, he can return 10 days after the positive test or within 5 days if he tests negative twice.

Hightower and Burnett will have to pass testing protocols in order to return to practice.

The Philadelphia Eagles released their inactives list for Sunday’s matchup against the New York Giants and Alshon Jeffery will make his 2020 debut. Lane Johnson, Miles Sanders, Fletcher Cox, Jack Driscoll, and Jason Peters will all play as well.

Jeffery will play his first game for the Eagles since December 2019 and should be a welcomed addition for quarterback Carson Wentz.

The Philadelphia Eagles need to find out what they have with J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and the only way to truly find out if he has the goods is to allow the second-year wideout to get game reps.

Per Mike Kaye of NJ.com, Arcega-Whiteside will get the start on the outside at receiver against the Steelers’ aggressive defense.

The 2019 second-round pick out of Stanford missed the 49ers game with a calf injury and even after strong performances from John Hightower and Travis Fulgham, Arcega-Whiteside still has a role on this team.

“J.J. is still a part of what we’re doing,” Doug Pederson said on Wednesday morning. “In fact, he’ll be out there today, he’ll practice today and looking forward to getting him back in the offense and working with the guys.

“It’ll be day by day with him but optimistic he’ll be ready for Sunday.”

Arcega-Whiteside suffered a calf injury during pregame warmups against the Bengals and played just 18 snaps in that game, causing some concern about his future with the organization.

Sunday will go a long way towards determining his place with the organization.

The Philadelphia Eagles released their inactives list for Sunday night’s huge matchup against the San Francisco 49ers and they’ll play with 4 wide receivers and two tight ends after ruling J.J. Arcega-Whiteside out for the matchup.

The Eagles signed Travis Fulgham off the practice squad and called up Deontay Burnett to pair with Greg Ward and John Hightower. Signed off Carolina’s practice squad this week, Hakeem Butler was a name to watch, but he’ll be inactive this week despite the Eagles lacking playmakers.

The Philadelphia Eagles walking wounded are starting to get healthy and on Friday head coach Doug Pederson provided an update on the status of some integral personnel.

Pederson announced that DeSean Jackson will miss a third straight practice Friday, but wouldn’t rule him out for Sunday’s game against the 49ers.

Jackson missed practice with a hamstring injury Wednesday and Thursday after he suffered a hamstring injury in the first half of the Eagles’ tie with the Bengals Sunday. The 33-year-old Jackson has 10 catches for 121 yards in the Eagles’ first three games.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who suffered a calf injury during pregame warmups against the Bengals should be back at practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday.

On Thursday, Greg Ward was the Eagles only healthy receiver, but star wideout Alshon Jeffery is expected to return to practice Friday but his status for Sunday remains up in the air. Jeffery was limited on Wednesday and had a planned rest day Thursday.

Doug Pederson says he’s excited about the Eagles current group of wide receivers

Philadelphia head coach Doug Pederson says he’s excited about the Eagles current group of wide receivers

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to face the San Francisco 49ers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football and they’ll take the field with a banged wide receivers corps. Head coach Doug Pederson is unsure about who’ll be catching passes from Carson Wentz on Sunday, but he’s excited about the group and the potential that they have.

Pederson went on to say that the Eagles staff have a few more days to evaluate wide receivers in terms of health. The Eagles only had one active wide receiver (Greg Ward) practiced Thursday as four others sat out with injury or illness.

Pederson appears confident in rolling with Ward, Deontay Burnett, Marcus Green, Travis Fulgham, and possibly Quez Watkins or John Hightower.

The Philadelphia Eagles released their Thursday injury report in advance of the Sunday night matchup with the San Francisco 49ers and not much has changed on that front.

J.J. Arcega-Whiteside (calf), Jamon Brown (illness), John Hightower (ill), DeSean Jackson (hamstring), Alson Jeffery (foot), Avonte Maddox (ankle), Jason Peters (ill), and Trevor Williams (rib) all sat out practice for the second straight day.

Rudy Ford (groin), Lane Johnson (ankle), and Miles Sanders (glute) were all limited participants and on track to play Sunday. Fletcher Cox (illness) and Jac Driscoll (illness) got in full practices after sitting out Wednesday.

As previously noted, the Eagles are banged up at wide receiver and Greg Ward was the only wide receiver on the 53 man roster to practice. The Eagles are likely to call up Travis Fulgham and Deontay Burnett and or Marcus Green to help.

Eagles snap count vs. Bengals: Breakdown, analysis

Eagles snap count vs. Bengals: Breakdown, analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles avoided an 0-3 start with their Week 3 tie against the Cincinnati Bengals, but things aren’t all well. The Eagles played a total 91 snaps on offense, and 72 snaps on defense.

***

Quarterbacks: Carson Wentz 91 snaps, Jalen Hurts 3 snaps

In his first significant NFL actions, Hurts had 2 runs for 8 yards. Hurts was responsible for a fumble and with the Eagles looking for a spark on offense, he should see more snaps.

Running Backs: Miles Sanders 71 snaps, Boston Scott 13 snaps, Corey Clement 6 snaps

With the Bengals struggling against the run through two-weeks, Sanders was supposed to get a huge workload to help take some stress off Carson Wentz. Sanders had 18 carries, most in the first half, and only two or three in the second half.

Wide Reciever: John Hightower 78 snaps, Greg Ward 76 snaps, Deontay Burnett 39 snaps, DeSean Jackson 28 snaps, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside 18 snaps.

Jackson left the game with a hamstring injury, but Arcega-Whiteside’s 18 snaps were alarming and could suggest the Eagles are ready to move on.

Offensive Line: Nate Herbig 91 snaps, Jason Kelce 91 snaps, Matt Pryor 91 snaps, Lane Johnson 91 snaps, Jason Peters 89 snaps, Jordan Mailata 2 snaps

Jason Peters struggled on the afternoon against edge rusher Carl Lawson, while Matt Pryor’s false start pushed the Eagles out of field goal range at the end of overtime.

Tight End: Zach Ertz 84 snaps, Richard Rodgers 33 snaps, Dallas Goedert 6 snaps

Goedert could be out a while with an ankle injury, and while Ertz had a strong game, the Eagles don’t have a backup tight end on the roster with Goedert’s potential.

Defensive Line: Brandon Graham 58 snaps, Fletcher Cox 55 snaps, Malik Jackson 42 snaps, Josh Sweat 38 snaps, Derek Barnett 38 snaps, Javon Hargrave 32 snaps, Hassan Ridgeway 15 snaps, Genard Avery 11 snaps

The Eagles defensive line played really well, combining for 6.5 sacks and 15 QB hits. On the day the Eagles had 8 total sacks and hit Joe Burrow 18 times.

Linebacker: Nate Gerry 70 snaps, T.J. Edwards 51 snaps, Duke Riley 7 snaps, Alex Singleton 1 snap

The Eagles eliminated some of the mistakes from the Rams’ loss by inserting T.J. Edwards into the lineup. Duke Riley had his snaps reduced while Nate Gerry has regressed and the Eagles could look to Davion Taylor.

Cornerback: Darius Slay 66 snaps, Avonte Maddox 39 snaps, Cre’Von LeBlanc 59 snaps, Trevor Williams 32 snaps, Nickell Robey Coleman 26 snaps,

Safety: Rodney McLeod 72 snaps, Jalen Mills 71 snaps, Marcus Epps 8 snaps, K’Von Wallace 1 snap

Schwartz made the smart move, give LeBlanc more snaps over Robey-Coleman, but the Eagles secondary was still besieged by injuries on Sunday. Darius Slay missed time and Avonte Maddox had to leave the game.
