4-star WR Isaiah Bond names top schools, sets commitment date

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top three schools for blazing fast four-star wide receiver recruit Isaiah Bond.

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top three schools for blazing fast four-star wide receiver recruit Isaiah Bond.

Georgia football has the nation’s top-ranked class of 2022. Kirby Smart and Georgia already have 24 commitments in the class. The Dawgs’ top rival, Florida, which recently fired Dan Mullen and hired Billy Napier, has the No. 40 recruiting class.

In March, the Georgia Bulldogs extended a scholarship offer to Isaiah Bond. Bond won a state championship in 2020 with Buford High School.

He puts Georgia, Florida and Alabama in his top three schools. Bond was previously committed to Florida when Dan Mullen was the Gators’ head coach.

Bond is a four-star recruit who ranks as the nation’s No. 86 overall player and as the No. 2 athlete in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports. Bond ranked as the eighth-best recruit in Georgia.

The Buford star runs a fast time 10.48 in the 100 meters, so he certainly has elite speed. In football, Bond plays defensive back and wide receiver for Buford.

Bond locked in his commitment date of Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. EST.

Bond is an impressive track athlete. He’s one of the best in Georgia. Here’s Bond’s 10.48 performance in the 100 meters.

Recent Florida decommit Isaiah Bond picks up offer from LSU

LSU offers recent Florida decommit.

The LSU Tigers have recently offered recent Florida Gators commit Isaiah Bond. The two-way player is listed as an athlete but viewed as a wide receiver at the college level. The top 100 prospect has seen plenty of interest including three SEC teams and a future SEC squad.

“I am going to sit back and evaluate my options again,” Bond told On3’s Chad Simmons on Monday. “Georgia is a school I could visit because it is so close, and I have looked into taking a visit to Texas, but nothing is set. My decommitting could open things up with new schools, so I just want to take some time to see.” – Per On3

Bond mentioned the other three schools are where he is looking but it remains to be seen if LSU can get into play. The one aspect hindering the Tigers is the lack of a head coach and no inclination as to what time of offense and defense they will be running in 2022.

Florida loses top commit in 2022 recruiting class

Buford (Ga.) receiver Isaiah Bond announced his decommitment from Florida via Twitter on Monday morning.

Whenever you fire a coach, it’s expected that it will have a ripple that impacts recruiting. Florida’s decision to fire coach Dan Mullen on Sunday after a 24-23 loss to Missouri was no different.

In the wake of the move, the Gators lost their highest-rated commit in the 2022 class as Buford (Ga.) receiver Isaiah Bond announced his decommitment from UF via Twitter. Bond, the No. 86 player in the nation and No. 1-ranked athlete, has received interest from Alabama and the in-state Georgia Bulldogs in recent weeks, and the latter has already managed to steal one of UF’s other top-100 commits in Julian Humphrey.

With Bond out, Florida’s class now ranks just 29th nationally and 10th in the SEC. Whoever the new coaching hire is, one of their first tasks will be trying to salvage what could be the worst Gators recruiting class in years, but it seems unlikely that there is much that can be done to save this class.

Now, quarterback Nick Evers, the No. 144 player in the country, is the highest-rated remaining recruit in the class. Evers maintained his commitment to Florida following the Mullen news, but he did say that he is keeping his options open.

If Bond were to commit to the Bulldogs, it would be yet another tough pill to swallow as UGA continues to separate itself from Florida in terms of talent acquisition.

These two Florida commits have moved into the 247Sports Top 100

The Gators lost one top 100 recruit Wednesday morning, but 247Sports has now promoted two other Florida commits into the top 100 ahead of him.

247Sports updated its 2022 recruit rankings on Wednesday and two Florida commits have moved into the top 100. Athlete Isaiah Bond moved up from No. 148 to No. 83 and cornerback Julian Humphrey jumped from No. 116 to No. 85.

Bond is now the highest rated Florida commitment on 247Sports’ rankings, replacing the recently de-committed Shemar James. Both Bond and Humphrey are now rated higher than James, but he is still the highest rated on the 247Sports Composite List.

Humphrey has continued to take visits despite his commitment back in May. Georgia and Texas A&M are both keeping looking to flip him, but Florida is staying close too with an assistant coach set to attend Humphrey’s next game. Bond is a bit of a different story. He said he was locked into UF after visiting for the Alabama game earlier in the year.

Quarterback Nick Evers is Florida’s next highest-rated commit at No. 119. After moving up from No. 197, Evers is the next likely candidate to break into the top 100. The loss of James was a big blow to the Gators program, but at least the top players still committed are trending up.

Florida is still in play for some of the nation’s top uncommitted prospects, including the nation’s top receiver Evan Stewart. He moved up from No.8 to No. 4 overall, and landing him would be huge for Florida. Texas is now the crystal ball favorite, but it’s still a tight race.

Here are all of Florida football’s 2022 recruits, ranked

There’s a lot to love about this 2022 Gators recruiting class.

In the summer months, It’s easy to keep track of the recruiting trail. There’s not much else going on in Gator Nation during the off-season, so it’s only natural to look to the future. On the other hand, mid-season emotions make many things that felt important in June feel like minutia today.

The Gators are almost certainly not done recruiting from the class off 2022. It would be reasonable to expect as many as six more additions to this group as the team hasn’t yet hit it’s target number of players. The position groups likely to see another incoming player include the offensive line, tight ends, defensive backs, running backs, wide receivers and possibly even the defensive line.

Nonetheless, with the Alabama game — expected to be the biggest factor for this team in mid-season recruiting — in the rearview mirror, it’s a as good a time as any to revisit the batch of high schoolers who have committed to UF.

These three targets will be in attendance for Florida vs. Alabama

Florida is inviting lots of recruits to the Alabama game. Here’s an update on three of them.

When Alabama comes to Gainesville on Sept. 18 the Gators will be hosting some of the team’s top recruiting targets. Florida football fans received an update on three prospects recently.

Four-star safety Azareyeh Thomas is one of the latest to confirm that he’ll be at the game, according to 247Sports. He named Florida in his top three in June along with LSU and Georgia Tech. The No. 89 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite visited Georgia Tech last weekend.

After pushing back his commitment from a planned August decision, Thomas’ visit to Florida could play a huge role come commitment time.

Joining Thomas in attendance is Isaiah Bond, a four-star receiver that officially visited Alabama, Miami and Texas after committing to Florida.  This will be the second time he sees the Crimson Tide play this year, but he has recently restated that he’s fully committed to the Gators.

Three-star offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar tweeted his invitation to the Alabama game with two sets of eye emojis as the caption. With the Gators missing out on a lot of their offensive line targets, Nonar’s name has quickly risen up the list in the last few months.

Nonar is ranked as the No. 125 offensive tackle nationally by 247Sports.

These two Gators commits are ‘freak’ athletes per 247Sports

The Gators recruiting class of 2022 has some elite speed

Recruiting isn’t easy. It takes talent to know that a kid will pan out by the time they reach playing age for a program. Then, there are the “freaks” of the recruiting class — players who are so physically exceptional that it’s hard to ignore them. The Gators have two “freaks” in its 2022 class, cornerback Julian Humprhey and athlete Isaiah Bond, according to 247Sports.

Both players appeared in the top 20 of a list of 50 prospects 247Sports considers “freaks.” Humphrey earned the No. 14 spot for his elite speed. The track star recorded a 4.38 40-yard dash over the summer. Bond is a speedster too and can catch anything the quarterback throws near him.

Bond can flat out fly. Georgia’s most recent AAAAAA state champion in the 100 and 200-meter dashes set personal records in both races this spring going 10.48 and 21.05, respectively.

Bond committed to the Gators in May and continued to make official visits to other schools throughout the summer. He recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Gators and said that he is locked in with Florida. Bond is the No. 6 athlete in the country according to 247Sports.

Humphrey committed in May as well and has received interest from Texas A&M over the summer. He’s the No. 14 ranked cornerback nationally, according to 247Sports.

This 4-star Florida football commit said he’s locked in with the Gators

Florida commit Isaiah Bond said he’s sold on the Gators after taking several visits to Miami and Alabama this summer.

Florida four-star wide receiver commit Isaiah Bond had a busy summer visiting the Gators, Alabama and Miami. After the first game of his senior season, he told 247Sports that he doesn’t plan on taking any more visits and that he is locked in with Florida.

“As of right now, I’m not taking any more visits,” Bond said. “I’m committed to Florida. Obviously, other coaches still hit me up, because they can still hit my phone, but Florida is home.”

He said that the other schools hitting him up are Georgia, Texas, the Hurricanes and the Crimson Tide. He added that the Gators have always been his dream school and his eyes lit up when he heard that they offered him a scholarship.

Bond also said that other schools have recruited him to play cornerback, but he insists that he wants to play wide receiver at the next level. He also has been actively recruiting five-star wide receiver Evan Stewart to team up with him in the Swamp.

He also plans to make the trek to Gainesville, Florida for a few games this season.

These four Florida football commits made the newest Rivals250 list

One Gator moved up over 150 spots and into the top 50.

The Gators had four recruits from their class of 2022 named in the new Rivals250 rankings: inside linebacker Shemar James (No.40), cornerback Julian Humphrey (No. 55), athlete Isaiah Bond (No. 90) and quarterback Nick Evers (No. 199).

In addition to being the highest-ranked of the bunch, James was one of the biggest movers on the list overall. He joined the top 40 after moving up 170 spots since the last update. In fact, James was the single biggest mover on the list aside from those who jumped up from outside the top 250.

Humphrey comes in as the seventh-best cornerback nationally and Isaiah Bond is the fourteenth-best athlete in his debut ranking. Evers is the only Gator commit outside of the top 100 but he ranks as Rivals’ No. 9 dual-threat quarterback since they separate them from pro-style quarterbacks.

A pair of elite targets for Florida also placed well on the list. Walter Nolen, was again named the nation’s best defensive linemen at No. 2 on the overall list and defensive back Austin Ausberry jumped up 106 spots to No .95 in the country. Nolen placed Florida in his top three earlier this month and Ausberry has the Gators in his top six.

This wide receiver commit is still solid to Florida after visits to other schools

Alabama appeared to be in prime position to wide receiver Isaiah Bond after a strong visit. He said Monday his commitment is still solid.

Isaiah Bond’s commitment to Florida appeared to be shaky this weekend when he officially visited Alabama. The highlight of his visit was when coach Nick Saban and his wife took him and his family for a spin in his Mercedes-Benz around Tuscaloosa.

He spoke to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports and told him that his visit to Alabama was great and that he will need to sit down with his family and reflect on his June visits.

However, after his visit to the Crimson Tide and Miami, he spoke to Swamp247‘s Blake Alderman to update his recruitment. Bond said his commitment to the Gators was solid.

“They treat me like family, and I am still committed there,” he said, according to Swamp247. “It’s just the culture there and how they want me to impact the program. It’s just a dream school for me.”

[exco_embed id=“e5869bc6-faf6-4b7a-8c06-b5610c96a8fe”]

Bond added that he feels that his relationship with the coaching staff has become stronger than ever before. They texted him throughout his other visits.

Florida and coach Dan Mullen are in good shape to keep one of their fastest recruits in the fold after they survived Bond’s visits to Alabama and Miami.
