These three targets will be in attendance for Florida vs. Alabama

Florida is inviting lots of recruits to the Alabama game. Here’s an update on three of them.

When Alabama comes to Gainesville on Sept. 18 the Gators will be hosting some of the team’s top recruiting targets. Florida football fans received an update on three prospects recently.

Four-star safety Azareyeh Thomas is one of the latest to confirm that he’ll be at the game, according to 247Sports. He named Florida in his top three in June along with LSU and Georgia Tech. The No. 89 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite visited Georgia Tech last weekend.

After pushing back his commitment from a planned August decision, Thomas’ visit to Florida could play a huge role come commitment time.

Joining Thomas in attendance is Isaiah Bond, a four-star receiver that officially visited Alabama, Miami and Texas after committing to Florida.  This will be the second time he sees the Crimson Tide play this year, but he has recently restated that he’s fully committed to the Gators.

Three-star offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar tweeted his invitation to the Alabama game with two sets of eye emojis as the caption. With the Gators missing out on a lot of their offensive line targets, Nonar’s name has quickly risen up the list in the last few months.

Nonar is ranked as the No. 125 offensive tackle nationally by 247Sports.

Offensive line target decommits from Pitt, turns eyes to Florida

An offer from the Florida Gators can change everything for some recruits.

A few days ago, the Gators’ offensive line class of 2022 had a murky future with only one lineman committed. Then, three-star offensive tackle David Conner committed to the team, and three-star Ja’Kavion Nonar de-committed from Pittsburgh.

Florida offered Nonar in early August even though he was verbally committed to the Panthers. Ole Miss followed suit days later and Nonar has now reopened his recruiting. It starts with some love for Florida too.

Measuring at 6-feet-7-inches and 275 pounds, Nonar is the No. 124 offensive tackle in the 247Sports rankings. He burst onto the recruiting scene in June and could rise up the list as the season goes on.

Nonar’s decision may take a bit as the young tackle has laid out plans to visit schools before potentially deciding in late October or early November. Miami, FSU and Missouri have reached out to him recently and more could join the race.

It seems that the Gators have a good chance at landing Nonar and getting back on track with their offensive line recruiting, but the Hurricanes and Seminoles could provide some in-state recruiting competition.

Florida football is pushing for this committed offensive tackle

Florida had to reshuffle its offensive line board for the class of 2022. The Gators are making a play for offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar.

Florida, coach Dan Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy have been scrambling to expand their offensive line board for the class of 2022 after some of their top targets committed elsewhere. One offer Florida gave out to was to three-star offensive tackle Ja’Kavion Nonar who is currently committed to the Pitt Panthers.

“I did a workout with them at the end of July and then a few days after that they told me I had an offer,” Nonar said, according to Swamp247. “After I worked out with them I felt like it was coming. I worked out with Coach Hevesy, but it was coach Mullen who offered me. He told me they really liked the workout and he couldn’t wait to offer me.”

He said that coach Hevesy admired his athleticism the most. Nonar clocked a 5.1 40-yard dash and 4.9 in the short shuttle at an FIU football camp.

“It was a good workout and it was intense working out with him,” Nonar said. “He was really fast-paced and he pays attention to detail. He said he liked how athletic I am and my size. He said he could tell from the workout and from my tape that I am a hard worker. He said he likes my determination. He knows what he is talking about and he gave me some pointers and stuff I can work on.”

He hopes to come back to get a closer look at the University of Florida down the road. Nonar said he plans to use official visits to see the Gators and Ole Miss. But he maintains his commitment to the Panthers is strong. He committed to them after a late June official visit. However, he plans to consider his new SEC offers.

“They just have shown a lot of love, so I feel like I am going to keep showing love back,” Nonar said. “I am solid with them but I am interested in the new offers too.”
