Michigan State has faired really well against Virginia over the years, but it was the Cavaliers who got the best of the Spartans on Saturday.

Four-star power forward Isaac Traudt revealed on Saturday morning that he will continue his basketball career at Virginia. Traudt picked Virginia over Michigan State, North Carolina and Nebraska.

Traudt is ranked as the No. 55 overall prospect in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the 2022 class. He’s also ranked as the No. 7 power forward and top player from Nebraska.

Michigan State basketball target Isaac Traudt to make decision Saturday

A top 2022 PF target is making his decision this weekend

Michigan State and Tom Izzo got the 2022 recruiting class off to a good start, landing point guard Tre Holloman. Now, another top target, Issac Traudt is set to make his collegiate decision this weekend.

Traudt, a power forward from Grand Island, Nebraska, has been a top target for the staff since the beginning of the recruiting cycle. He took an official visit to East Lansing on June 17th.

The decision appears to be between Virginia, North Carolina, Nebraska, and MSU.

This would be a huge add to the 2022 recruiting class for Michigan State.

Michigan State basketball: Recruiting Big Board

Take a look at Michigan State basketball’s 2022 recruiting big board

The 2022 recruiting cycle is in full swing, summer basketball tournaments are going on all over the country and the MSU coaching staff is on the road trying to build the next class of Spartans.

There was a time where MSU had both Emoni Bates and Enoch Boakye as a part of the 2022 recruiting class. But now, both have decommitted, Bates likely going pro and Boakye reclassifying to 2021 and heading to Arizona State.

The Spartans are now left with an empty recruiting class, but that wont be for long.

Tentatively, there are five open scholarships after this year, but Joey Hauser, Gabe Brown, and Marcus Bingham may have the option for one more additional season. So we should expect anywhere from 2 to 5 additions in this class.

Let’s take a look at who MSU is targeting in the 2022 recruiting class:

Michigan State target and 2022 4-star power forward Isaac Traudt plans on announcing a commitment relatively soon and based on comments to Stock Risers the Spartans will be in consideration for his talents.

Traudt recently caught up with Stock Risers to discuss his recruitment, which included comments on his visit to East Lansing. Traudt  — who is from Grand Island, Neb. — had some positive things to say about the Spartans’ basketball program, including how he “had a really good time” during his visit.

Here’s what Traudt had to say about his visit to Michigan State:

“We had a really good time at MSU. They have a great staff and I was able to hang out with the players quite a bit. Me and Jaden Schutt were on campus and got to play pickup with the guys too. They kind of broke down what a typical day at MSU would look like.”

In the same article from Stock Risers, Traudt also said he plans on announcing a commitment prior to his senior season. So it sounds like a decision could be coming relatively soon.

Traudt is ranked as the No. 54 prospect and No. 7 power forward in the 2022 class by 247Sports. He holds scholarship offers from numerous power five programs, and has also visited North Carolina, Virginia, Nebraska and Creighton.
