Michigan State Basketball dropped their fourth straight game on Tuesday 84-78 against Iowa, but not for a lack of effort. The Spartans looked like they could have beaten No. 8 Iowa on the road in Iowa City, no small feat, and looked like a much more dangerous team than in their last two games against Ohio State and Rutgers.
After the game, Tom Izzo spoke to the media in what was a very interesting press conference following perhaps the toughest stretch of his career. Below, we compiled the most intriguing quotes in an interview that covered fouls, Aaron Henry playing time, and a warning for the rest of the league.
We’ll start with my personal favorite:
Izzo: "I'm not worried about the next 11 (games). I'm worried about the nest one. We've got to win games and get better, and somebody better hope we don't get on a streak."

Izzo comments that he genuinely thought the Spartans would win:
Izzo: "I really thought we were gonna win the game … I told my team we were gonna win this game. Is it a turning point? No. … It's not a moral victory."

On Aaron Henry’s late missed field goal and the extreme foul disparity in the game:
Izzo says his fault Langford missed that late shot by playing him too many minutes. Adds there were “some ridiculous calls” by the refs. Proud of bouncing back.

On the unique circumstance that has come with a long road trip:
Izzo: “Being on the road these last three games has been draining.”

Izzo says he was proud of his team. Shot well but didn’t defend well enough.
