366-pound T’Vondre Sweat unleashed a devastating stiff-arm against the Bengals and NFL fans loved it

Big man stiff-arm!

There aren’t many more electrifying moments in a football game than when a big man gets the ball in his hands and actually shows off some skill. Sure, Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson are fun. But give me a 366-pound nose tackle making players miss every time over a wideout doing what he’s expected to do.

We got to see just that on Sunday.

During the second quarter of the Titans’ Week 15 game against the Bengals, Joe Burrow was stuffed behind the line and then stripped by Titans nose tackle T’Vondre Sweat.

Rather than simply going down there and being content with the recovery, Sweat showed off his return skills and even unleashed a nasty stiff-arm on Alex Cappa.

How’s that for a 30-yard return after the recovery? Sweat could get some looks at running back after that.

Of course, the Titans squandered the turnover with a fumble of their own, but fans still loved seeing that skill and stiff-arm from the big man.

Yankees fans loved Brian Cashman’s blunt response to turning down Juan Soto’s demand for a luxury suite

The Yankees GM had no regrets.

Juan Soto’s decision to sign with the Mets for a record-shattering deal wasn’t much of a surprise within baseball circles. The number was always going to be astronomical, and the Mets had deep pockets to make it happen.

What was surprising, though, was how the Yankees’ bid may have collapsed over refusal to give Soto a free luxury suite at Yankee Stadium.

According to the New York Post, Soto wanted the Yankees to provide his family with a suite for the duration of the contract. The Yankees — having already made Derek Jeter and Aaron Judge pay for their own suites in the past — didn’t want to ignore precedent and give Soto a multimillion-dollar perk. Instead, they offered Soto that suite at a discounted rate.

Mets owner Steve Cohen, on the other hand, was more than willing to give Soto a suite at Citi Field and got the deal done. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman was asked about the suite saga, and he essentially said that a player making that much should be OK paying for his own suite.

Via MLB.com:

ā€œSome high-end players that make a lot of money for us, if they want suites, they buy them.ā€

Cashman also added that he had no regrets about how the Yankees handled their negotiations. And Yankees fans loved how Cashman implied that Soto could have afforded his own suite because, well, look at that contract.

NFL fans were furious after Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair’s dangerous cheap shot on Trevor Lawrence

It doesn’t get more reckless than that.

In recent years, the NFL has worked to legislate dirty hits out the game. Quarterbacks are protected from virtually all unnecessary contact. But there are times when players disregard those rules, and the resulting scene turns ugly.

That’s exactly what happened with Texans linebacker Aziz Al-Shaair’s hit on Trevor Lawrence. We won’t see a dirtier tackle all season.

With the Jaguars driving in the second quarter in Sunday’s Week 13 game, Lawrence took off scrambling on second down. The Jaguars quarterback started his slide early — actually a yard shy of the first-down marker — giving plenty of time for defenders to lay off on any hit.

Al-Shaair didn’t care. He went in late and launched his arm and shoulder right at Lawrence’s head, slamming Lawrence’s helmet hard against the turf.

That sparked a mini brawl as Lawrence laid hurt in a fencing posture. Al-Shaair was immediately ejected for the hit, as was Jacksonville’s Jarrian Jones who reacted in Lawrence’s defense.

Lawrence left the field on the cart and was ruled out with a concussion. NFL fans were justifiably furious at Al-Shaair who deserves a lengthy suspension. There’s no place in the game for those hits anymore.

Lip-reading fans were convinced that Dak Prescott ripped the Cowboys from the sidelines during Week 9 loss

Cameras caught Dak being too honest.

The Dallas Cowboys are a mess this season — there’s no denying that.

You just wouldn’t expect Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott to admit as much during a game. But that appeared to be what happened on Sunday.

As the Cowboys dropped to 3-5 on the season thanks to a Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Fox broadcast panned over to Prescott — who left the game with a hamstring injury. Prescott watched as time ticked away with four minutes to go in the fourth quarter and said something to Trey Lance beside him.

Lip-reading fans were quick to guess what Prescott said, which looked to be, “We (expletive) suck.”

Yeah, that was pretty clear.

Fans all seemed to have the same theory for Prescott’s remark.

NFL fans had so many jokes after Kyler Murray got sacked by his own offensive lineman

How does this keep happening to Kyler?

Kyler Murray is one of the most effective quarterbacks in the league once a play breaks down. We’ve seen it time and time again as Murray turns a broken play into a highlight.

But Murray’s improvisation skills can also confuse his own offensive line, apparently.

During the first quarter of Sunday’s Week 9 game against the Bears, Murray stepped up in the pocket on third down and looked ready to take off running. But all that stopped when his own center Hjalte Froholdt grabbed hold of Murray and brought him down. The sack was credited to Kevin Byard III, but it was awfully clear that Murray was sacked by his own lineman.

We’d like to say this was the first time Murray’s own lineman has sacked him, but it’s happened before!

No wonder NFL fans had jokes about the play. How does that even happen?

Bears fans were livid about the uncalled holding penalties during the Commanders’ stunning Hail Mary TD

It was pretty obvious.

It’s always frustrating for fans when refs decide to officiate a game differently at the end than how they would at any other point. A penalty in the first half shouldn’t be easier to call than a penalty in the final few seconds.

But in an effort to avoid a controversial call, the crew working Sunday’s Week 8 game between the Bears and Commanders helped Washington get away with multiple penalties in a successful Hail Mary.

As Jayden Daniels dropped back and scrambled before unleashing a stunning Hail Mary touchdown pass, we could see as the Commanders offensive line got away with several holds — none worse than Andrew Wylie on Jacob Martin.

That’s awfully clear and wouldn’t have been debatable if called. Of course, Chicago should have simply knocked the pass down, but it’s tough to ignore the penalties on the front end.

Bears fans were understandably furious that the uncalled holding penalties made that touchdown possible.

NBA fans immediately turned Dwyane Wade’s unrecognizable statue into a fantastic meme

Can’t stop laughing.

Sunday had to be quite the day for Dwyane Wade. He was on hand for the Miami Heat to honor him with a statue outside the Kaseya Center, which must have been exciting.

Then, he had to see the statue.

When the Heat unveiled the statue, it was immediately obvious that the final result looked absolutely nothing like the Heat legend. The statue was so bad that it brought back memories of Cristiano Ronaldo’s infamous statue a few years back. Wade knew it as he had to awkwardly pretend to be a fan of the statue in real time.

I mean, look at this thing!

It’s so bad. Like, bad to the point that it defies logic how nobody associated with the project spoke up ahead of time.

But hey, it did lead to some excellent memes, and we’re thankful for that.

Chiefs fans are convinced they missed DeAndre Hopkins’ Taylor Swift-themed Easter egg days before trade

They should have known!

If there’s one thing we’ve learned about Taylor Swift fans over the years, it’s that they are borderline detectives. They’ll take the smallest of clues and read into them with Da Vinci Code-level complexity. Swift plays into that fandom as well.

But could newly acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins have taken a similar approach just a few days ago? Hey, it’s possible.

On Wednesday, the Chiefs traded for the former Titans receiver, giving Patrick Mahomes some much-needed wide receiver help amid injuries to Rashee Rice, Hollywood Brown and now JuJu Smith-Schuster. Yet, if you read into Hopkins’ Instagram post from the other day, the trade might have been in the works already.

With the caption “rumor has it,” Hopkins shared several photos and videos on his IG page. One of which being him jamming to Taylor Swift’s “22” in the car with his family. Either Hopkins is a certified Swiftie or he might have been putting out an Easter egg of his own given Swift’s relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

Either way, Chiefs fans (and Swifties) couldn’t believe they missed that clue.

Christian Pulisic stunned the soccer world with an ‘Olimpico’ goal from a corner in the UEFA Champions League

He scored straight from a CORNER.

Ever since making the move from Chelsea to AC Milan in Italy’s Serie A, Christian Pulisic has enjoyed a much-needed career renaissance. And his unbelievable 2024-25 season has managed to get even better.

Pulisic — now with 10 goal contributions in 11 matches for Milan — had the start in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Belgian side Club Brugge. And though Milan struggled to put pressure on attack for much of the first half, Pulisic broke open the scoring in the most unexpected way.

Literally. He scored a goal straight from a corner kick with a 0.00 xG (expected goals). Even Pulisic was stunned that he pulled off the elusive “Olimpico” goal.

Just wow. You know things are going your way when that finds the back of the net.

Initially, it looked like that the ball may have nicked Matteo Gabbia, but Pulisic was given the goal (his seventh of the season) on the field. And Gabbia’s reaction — going straight to Pulisic — suggested that he didn’t touch the ball.

Understandably, the Olimpico had the soccer world in awe.

College football fans were furious that Ohio State-Penn State game was chosen for Fox’s Big Noon Saturday

Some games are meant to be played at night.

College football scheduling is always a balancing act for schools, conferences and TV networks.

For the Big Ten, it gets even more difficult when you have members across multiple time zones and Fox, CBS and NBC all paying billions of dollars to broadcast games. Still, some games are meant to be played at night, and Nov. 2’s game between Ohio State and Penn State at Beaver Stadium is one of those games.

Yet, Fox had different ideas, and fans aren’t happy — for good reason.

The top-4 matchup was selected for next week’s Big Noon Saturday on Fox (and presumably the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show). That means that a game, which typically would have been a White Out under the lights, will be played in the day’s earliest window.

Fox, as the primary rights holder, gets priority in selecting its preferred matchups. It was obviously going to pick Ohio State-Penn State, but Fox opting against using a night-game exception was a mistake here. You want to showcase the sport at its best, and a Penn State White Out at night is top-tier college football. Under the current agreement, the primetime window belongs to NBC.

So while this does mean that Ohio State gets to avoid a night game at Beaver Stadium, the rest of the college football world had plenty to complain about.
