2 ruled out, 6 questionable in Colts vs. Bengals

These are the players with injury designations for the Week 14 matchup between the Colts and Bengals.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-5) and Cincinnati Bengals (6-6) are just about set for a Week 14 matchup at Paycor Stadium.

On the final injury reports for the week, the Colts ruled out two players, both starters, and listed three others as questionable. The Bengals didn’t rule out any players and had three others listed as questionable, two of whom can be considered starters.

Here are the players with injury designations entering the Week 14 matchup:

Jerry Jacobs ruled out with a knee injury vs. Ravens

Lions starting CB Jerry Jacobs ruled out with a knee injury vs. Ravens

Bad news on the Detroit Lions injury front, and it comes from the pre-game. Starting outside CB Jerry Jacobs will not play against the Baltimore Ravens due to a knee injury.

Jacobs was downgraded to questionable for the game on Saturday with a new knee injury, apparently suffered late in Friday’s practice. He worked out on the field in Baltimore with trainers in warm-ups on Sunday and was ruled out, per Jennifer Hammond of the Lions’ broadcast team.

With Jacobs out, the Lions have some options to fill his cleats. Rookie Steven Gilmore is one, with Khalil Dorsey a more experienced option. Chase Lucas did get some reps on the outside during the summer. Will Harris has experience playing everywhere in the secondary as well.

Lions final injury report for Week 4: 3 players ruled out, 5 starters listed as questionable

Lions final injury report for Week 4: 3 players ruled out, 5 starters listed as questionable

The final Detroit Lions injury report and game status for the short Week 4 preparations has ruled out three players. Along with the trio ruled out by the training staff, several others are listed officially as questionable for Thursday night’s matchup in Green Bay with the Packers.

Offensive linemen Matt Nelson and Halapoulivaati Vaitai are out with their knee injuries. It’s also a knee injury that will sideline fullback Jason Cabinda, who was listed out after suffering the injury in the first practice of the week.

Five players are listed as questionable. All are projected starters when healthy:

Jackson was the only one of the questionable players to see action in the Week 3 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Minnesota Vikings Week 17 injury designations: 4 defensive starters ruled OUT

The Detroit Lions (5-10) Week 17 opponent, the Minnesota Vikings (6-9), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Detroit Lions (5-10) Week 17 opponent, the Minnesota Vikings (6-9), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game and they will be without several starters.

Here’s a look at the Vikings’ full injury designations list.

Injury designations

Player Position Injury Designation
Dalvin Cook RB (starter) Not-injury related OUT
Alexander Mattison RB Concussion Cleared to play
C.J. Ham FB Quad Cleared to play
Riley Reiff LT (starter) COVID-19 Reserve/COVID-19
Ifeadi Odenigbo DE (starter) Chest OUT
Jalyn Holmes DE (starter) Groin OUT
Armon Watts DT Ankle Cleared to play
Eric Kendricks LB (starter) Calf OUT
Troy Dye LB Concussion/Hamstring Cleared to play
Todd Davis LB Ribs Cleared to play
Cameron Dantzler CB (starter) Hamstring OUT
Chris Jones CB Groin OUT
Dan Bailey K (starter) Back Questionable

Cook’s father passed away on Tuesday and he has returned home to be with his family. He will not play in this weekend’s game. Cook’s absence means Mattison — who was just cleared from the league’s concussion protocol — will get the start at running back.

Rieff was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday, but the timeline for when he was identified is unclear. If he is not able to clear league protocols, the Vikings will turn to Rashod Hill at left tackle.

Odenigbo and Holmes were not the Vikings EDGE starters at the beginning of the year, but after Danielle Hunter went on I.R. and Yannick Ngakoue was traded, they were elevated into starting roles. With both ruled out, the Vikings will be on their third set of EDGE rushers for this matchup.

Kendricks is one of the best linebackers in the NFL and his absence will leave another massive hole in the Vikings front-7.

Last week, the Vikings starting three cornerbacks were: rookies Jeff Gladney and Cameron Dantzler, along with Chris Jones — yes, former Lion Chris Jones. With Dantzler and Jones ruled out, the Vikings will start Gladney and likely Harrison Hand — yet another rookie corner.

Titans Week 15 injury designations: Rodger Saffold, Kenny Vaccaro listed as Questionable

The Detroit Lions (5-8) Week 15 opponent, the Tennessee Titans (9-4), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Detroit Lions (5-8) Week 15 opponent, the Tennessee Titans (9-4), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game and only four players are listed as questionable.

Here’s a look at the Titans’ full injury designations list.

Injury status

Player Injury Position Designation
Rodger Saffold Toe LG (starter) Questionable
Geoff Swain Ankle TE Questionable
Adoree Jackson Knee CB Questionable
Kenny Vaccaro Illness S (starter) Questionable

Saffold did not practice all week, but Mike Moraitis of Titans Wire suggests that may not prohibit him from playing on Sunday. Starting right tackle Dennis Kelly and starting center Ben Jones also missed practices this week, but both got in at least one full practice and neither are listed with an injury designation. If all three are ready to play, the Titans will enter the game with their starting offensive line intact.

Swaim missed Wednesday and Thursday but returned able to return to a limited practice on Friday and carries a questionable label. The Titans will use all four of their tight ends, but if Swaim is forced to miss, they still have three available on the active roster.

Jackson, who has been on IR most of the season, has yet to play in 2020 and was limited all week. But there is some optimism in Tennessee that he could make his debut versus the Lions this weekend.

Vaccaro missed Wednesday, was limited Thursday and Friday, and carries a questionable tag into this game. With two partial practices this week, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of concern surrounding the starting safety.

Packers Week 14 injury designations: Darnell Savage listed as Questionable

The Detroit Lions (5-7) Week 14 opponent, the Green Bay Packers (9-3), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Detroit Lions (5-7) Week 14 opponent, the Green Bay Packers (9-3), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game and while 15 players showed up on this week’s injury report, just five are listed with an injury designation.

Here’s a look at the Packers’ full injury designations list.

Injury status

Player Position Injury Designation
Simon Stepaniak G Knee OUT
Equanimeous St. Brown WR Knee/Concussion Questionable
Malik Taylor WR Hamstring  Questionable
Jake Sternberger TE Concussion OUT
Darnell Savage S (starter) Groin  Questionable

Savage was healthy most of the week but popped up on Friday’s practice report with a groin injury. Like most late-week injuries, this situation is worth monitoring, especially considering Savage’s backup, safety Raven Greene, was recently placed on injured reserve.

If Savage can’t play, that’s a big boost for Lions’ T.J. Hockenson, who is currently the third most productive tight end in the NFL right now.

The Packers receiving group is banged up. In addition to St. Brown, Taylor, and Sternberger showing up on the injury report, starting wide receiver Allen Lazard was limited in practice all week with a core muscle injury, and starting tight end Marcedes Lewis was limited on Wednesday, didn’t practice on Thursday, before returning to a full practice on Friday. Both starters are expected to play — thus no injury designation — but they may be limited on the field.

Stepaniak, who tore his ACL in college last December, was just activated from the NFI list (Non-football injury) to the active roster this week. It may take some time before he is ready to return and has been ruled out for this game.

Missing a player who has been out most of the season may not seem like a big deal but the Packer’s offensive line is dealing with some injuries. Starting guard Lane Taylor has been on injured reserve the majority of the season, starting center Corey Linsley was just placed on injured reserve, while replacement starting guard/center Lucas Patrick and starting right tackle Rick Wagner were both limited all week.

If any of the Packer’s linemen can’t go, former Michigan Wolverines’ Ben Braden and Jon Runyan are next in line on the depth chart.

Detroit Lions Week 13 injury designations: Kenny Golladay, Da’Shawn Hand, Jeff Okudah ruled OUT

Examining the Week 13 injury designations for the Detroit Lions as they prepare to take on the Chicago Bears.

The Detroit Lions (4-7) have declared their injury designations for their Week 13 matchup with the Chicago Bears (5-6), ruling out Kenny Golladay, Da’Shawn Hand, and Jeff Okudah for the third week in a row.

Here’s a look at the Lions’ full injury report, with the updated changes in injury status listed in bold.

Ruled OUT

Player Injury Wednesday Thursday Friday Designation
Kenny Golladay Hip No Practice No Practice No Practice OUT
Da’Shawn Hand Groin No Practice No Practice No Practice OUT
Jeff Okudah Shoulder No Practice No Practice No Practice OUT

“Improving every day,” Interim coach Darrell Bevell said of Golladay. “(I) like what he’s doing. We’ll see how it goes.” Unfortunately, Golladay will not be going on the field this weekend, so fans can cross their fingers he can return for the final month of the season. Expect Marvin Hall to continue to start in his place, but after a late surge in last week’s game, it’s fair to wonder if Mohamad Sanu has earned some more time.

After placing Shelton on injured reserve, the Lions could have used Hand in the lineup this week, but instead will turn to John Penisini, Nick Williams, and newly re-signed Kevin Strong on the interior defensive line.

The situation repeats itself at cornerback, as Trufant being placed on injured reserve along with Okudah being ruled OUT, significantly limits the depth chart.

Questionable

Player Injury Wednesday Thursday Friday Designation
Matthew Stafford Thumb Limited Practice Limited Practice Limited Practice Questionable
D’Andre Swift Illness Limited Practice No Practice No Practice Questionable
Austin Bryant Thigh Limited Practice Limited Practice Limited Practice Questionable
Tracy Walker Non-Injury Not listed Not listed No Practice Questionable

Stafford’s thumb has been a non-issue. Move along.

Swift’s illness has kept him out of another practice but the Lions plan on monitoring him through the weekend and his status is very much up in the air. If he does play, Bevell suggested it would be in a limited role.

Bryant strung together three limited practices, but after missing the last two weeks, he is still not out of the woods yet. A full practice would have helped with his projection.

Walker practiced all week but was absent today with a non-injury. The Lions don’t release what a player’s “non-injury” is, but Walker’s wife Bella is far enough along in her pregnancy that this could be related.

No Injury Designation

Player Injury Wednesday Thursday Friday Designation
Danny Amendola Hip Limited Practice Full Practice Full Practice No Injury Designation
Quintez Cephus Non-injury No Practice No Practice Full Practice No Injury Designation
Hunter Bryant Concussion Full Practice Full Practice Full Practice No Injury Designation
Christian Jones Knee No Practice Limited Practice Limited Practice No Injury Designation
Mike Ford Concussion Full Practice Full Practice Full Practice No Injury Designation

Amendola is finally back to full health and will return to the starting lineup, while Cephus was back in the fold on Friday and looks ready to play as well.

Bryant and Ford have now officially cleared their concussion protocols, as expected.

Jones continues to play through his knee injury and is on track to play, despite only seeing limited practices this week.

Injured reserve

With Okudah being ruled out of this game, the Lions are left with just three healthy corners — Juston Coleman, Amani Oruwariye, and Mike Ford — but at his press conference today, Bevell said,  “I feel more comfortable at it now, knowing that we’re going to at least go into the game with four corners.”

If the Lions expect to have four corners available on Sunday, it’s highly possible that means they are planning on activating Roberts from injured reserve on Saturday.

Bears Week 13 injury designations: 5 starters listed as Questionable, including Khalil Mack

The Detroit Lions (4-7) Week 13 opponent, the Chicago Bears (5-6), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game.

The Detroit Lions (4-7) Week 13 opponent, the Chicago Bears (5-6), have released their injury designations ahead of Sunday’s game and nine players are listed as questionable, including five starters.

Here’s a look at the Bears’ full injury designations list.

Player Position Injury Designation
Khalil Mack EDGE (starter) Back Questionable
Akiem Hicks DE (starter) Hamstring/Achillies Questionable
Allen Robinson WR (starter) Knee Questionable
Charles Leno LT (starter) Toe Questionable
Germain Ifedi RT (starter) Calf Questionable
Nick Foles QB Hip Questionable
Darnell Mooney WR Knee Questionable
James Vaughters LB Knee Questionable
Josh Woods LB Foot Questionable

Mack is, of course, the big name on the list, and while he did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, coach Matt Nagy insisted holding him out was just precautionary and they expected him to play on Sunday. On Friday, he got in a limited practice and appears on track.

Hicks is by far the Bears’ second-best player on a deep defense, and after missing last week with injuries, he got two limited practices in this week and has the potential to play.

Robinson, the Bears’ best player on offense, popped up on the injury report on Friday and received the questionable tag. Like with Mack, Nagy is preaching caution and says they will be monitoring him leading up to the game.

Left tackle Leno missed practice on Wednesday but returned to two limited practices the rest of the week, while right tackle Ifedi — an injury replacement himself — saw three limited practices. Both seem likely to play on Sunday.

Foles, saw a limited practice on Wednesday, followed by two full practices on Thursday and Friday, but Nagy has already named Mitchell Trubisky as the starting quarterback. If Trubisky struggles, Foles appears to be ready to step in.
