Alabama makes another big jump in latest USA TODAY Sports Coach Poll Top-25

Alabama continues to rise in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll Top-25

Alabama basketball has managed to string together a handful of impressive in-conference wins after starting the 2023-2024 season a bit slow. The team has taken down some quality teams in a dominating fashion and managed to win some narrow contests against programs near the top.

Next up for the Crimson Tide is a short road trip to the eastern side of the state, where the team will take on Auburn after beating them in Tuscaloosa just a short time ago.

The SEC has picked up steam as the season has progressed, but anything can happen with so much time remaining before the conference and NCAA Tournaments.

After being ranked No. 22 last week, Alabama makes a considerable jump up to No. 16 in this week’s top-25 poll.

What No. 2 Texas is facing against No. 17 Illinois on Tuesday

Watch for these players when Texas takes on Illinois on Tuesday, 6 p.m. CT on ESPN.

Texas will face its first test away from the Moody Center on Tuesday. The Longhorns (6-0) travel to Madison Square Garden to compete with the No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini (6-2).

Chris Beard’s team is still battle tested after securing Top 10 wins over the Gonzaga Bulldogs and Creighton Bluejays. Nevertheless the Illinois game will be a different challenge altogether.

Aside from the neutral site test, Texas will have the unenviable task of stopping Terrence Shannon. Chris Beard’s former Texas Tech player is averaging over 19 points per game on the season.

Baylor transfer Matthew Mayer is another familiar face on the Illini. The defensive pest is struggling this season on the offensive end, but could give the Longhorns trouble with suffocating defense.

Illinois would be the cherry on top of a No. 1 seed caliber nonconference resume for Texas, but the Longhorns’ opponent will have other plans.

Texas basketball is moving fast up the Top 25 rankings.

The Texas Longhorns are back in the Top 5 in college basketball. This time, the ranking is well earned.

Texas checks in at No. 4 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll, and for the first time in awhile might be underrated.

The Longhorns look like the most complete team the program has fielded in a long time following a dominant win over Gonzaga. And just in case you thought Gonzaga’s struggles against Texas meant they were no longer a top team, the Bulldogs bounced back to beat Kentucky, 88-72.

Chris Beard has said a great deal about championships, but wins against the best in the nation lend credence to those aspirations.

Texas jumps one spot in latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll after defeating TCU, West Virginia

The Longhorns didn’t see much movement in the polls this week.

After defeating TCU and West Virginia over the last week, Texas moved up one spot to No. 21 in the latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The lack of movement in the rankings for the Longhorns is largely due to how the ranked teams ahead of them performed. Several teams ranked between 9-20 defeated solid and ranked teams over the last week.

Next up on the schedule, Texas will host No. 4 Baylor on Monday night for their last game in the Frank Erwin Center.
