Russell Wilson sets record for most expensive home purchase in Denver area

Broncos QB Russell Wilson recently paid $25 million for a Cherry Hills Village mansion, the most ever paid for a Denver area home.

Denver Broncos star Russell Wilson has a new home.

The quarterback recently purchased a $25 million home in Cherry Hills Village, according to a report from Lily O’Neill of BusinessDen.com.

Wilson has now set the record for the most expensive residential property purchase in the Denver area. His new four-bedroom, 12-bathroom home sits on a 5.34-acre lot and includes a pool and nine-car garage.

Wilson would be able to pay for all of his new home and still have $3 million leftover if he’s able to sell his Seattle house at the $28 million listed price. Wilson’s new Cherry Hills home is nearly twice the size as his previous house in Seattle (20,060 vs. 11,104 square feet).

It seems that Wilson’s house in San Diego is his primary home. The quarterback has hosted at least a dozen teammates at his California mansion for unofficial practices this offseason.

Wilson’s Colorado home doesn’t have a mini football field like his house in San Diego, but there is a big backyard with the potential to be converted.

LaMelo Ball: When is the release for his signature sneaker with Puma?

Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, who won NBA Rookie of the Year this past season, is scheduled to release his first signature shoe.

Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, who won NBA Rookie of the Year this past season, is scheduled to release his first signature shoe.

Ball, who has been a fan favorite since he was a high school superstar at Chino Hills in Southern California, was always destined to draw intrigue when he signed a sneaker deal because of his off-court popularity.

The 19-year-old was signed to his family-owned Big Baller Brand until leaving the company to sign with Puma in Oct. 2020. He rocked the Puma Clyde All-Pro sneakers on the court during his first year with the Hornets. But it was only a matter of time before Puma was going to let Ball use his platform for his own line.

After an impressive debut campaign in the NBA, however, the hype surrounding the upcoming release for Ball is greater than ever. He will ride that momentum into the 2021-22 season and will be rocking his signature shoe in the process.

Earlier this month, Ball showed up at Las Vegas Summer League to support his Charlotte teammates — including his older brother LiAngelo Ball. He was wearing the Puma MB1, per ESPN’s Nick DePaula.

According to Tyler Tynes, who recently wrote a fantastic profile on Ball in GQ, the drop is currently scheduled for Oct. 2021. You can explore more of Ball’s collection with Puma here.

It shouldn’t be a surprise if the sneakers are immediately among the most popular among basketball fans, especially considering his popularity among younger viewers.

Here is a close-up view of what the Puma MB1 sneakers look like on his feet:

Season leaps: This is where players have improved the most this year

Before he signed with the Detroit Pistons, no one would have ever expected Jerami Grant to be so good at creating for himself.

Every year, it is fascinating to track the incredible progress that players around the league have made during their most recent offseason.

Considering that the NBA is home to some of the best athletes in the world, it’s always remarkable to see how these world-class find ways to get better and develop their games.

The league clearly loves it, too, and celebrated these accomplishments by introducing the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award (MIP) back in 1985.

Earlier this season, we have written about the impressive strides we have seen from 2020-21 MIP candidates Julius Randle (playmaking) and Jordan Clarkson (shot selection and efficiency) thus far. We have also highlighted the most improved players on each team, including first-time All-Stars Zach LaVine and Jaylen Brown.

But we wanted to highlight some of the ways that certain individuals have gotten better at distinct elements of their game since last season as well.

45 players were traded today. That’s an all-time trade deadline record

If you don’t recognize some faces the next time your favorite team is on the floor, don’t be surprised. Tons of players have changed teams.

If you don’t recognize some faces the next time your favorite team is on the floor, don’t be surprised. Tons of players have changed teams.

While this was expected to be a quiet trade deadline, basketball fans saw a massive reshuffling of the deck among franchises and front offices. After the action today, nearly fifty players around the league are now set to wear a new uniform for the rest of this season.

In fact, based on our research, we have never witnessed a deadline with more players relocating. In total, there were 45 active players who are no longer on the team that they were on yesterday. For some context, that is more than ten percent of the league.

This total includes the move between the Sacramento Kings and Detroit Pistons, who swapped Delon Wright and Cory Joseph, because ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the move after midnight on the east coast. It does not, however, include draft rights (e.g. Cady Lalanne was sent from the San Antonio Spurs to the Golden State Warriors).

Those who were rooting for utter chaos may have been disappointed because big man Nikola Vucevic was the only All-Star who changed teams. But when it was all said and done, this was a busier day than the previous record, which was set in 2015 when 39 players were moved at the deadline.

Whether this can be attributed to recently expanded rosters or an increased willingness to gamble by emboldened front offices, fans experienced a busy day filled with exciting transactions.

Trae Young, Devin Booker and the complete list of 2021 NBA All-Star Game snubs

The fact that all these players were left off shows us just how much talent is in the NBA right now.

While there is no exact science to an NBA All-Star candidacy, earning a spot among the league’s best players is always a tough challenge.

The 10 starters (five players from each conference) were selected based on weighted voting from fans, current NBA players and a media panel. The reserves (seven players from each conference) were chosen by head coaches around the league.

All-Star captains LeBron James and Kevin Durant will choose their teams from the player pool during the 2021 NBA All-Star Draft on March 4.

Ultimately, however, only 24 players earned the invitation to participate in the game on March 7. Given how many deserved consideration, there are still several others who made a serious case to receive the honor as well.

Below are some of the candidates who did not receive the nod but are still enjoying All-Star caliber campaigns. The fact that all these players were left off shows us just how much incredible talent exists in the NBA right now.

USA Basketball announced its roster for the upcoming 2021 FIBA Americup Qualifiers. Joe Johnson and Isaiah Thomas are the two biggest names.

The qualifiers will feature sixteen countries from North America, Central America, the Caribbean and South America all competing to earn a spot in the 2022 FIBA Americup.

Johnson and Thoms are two of the five players on this roster who have experience on an NBA roster. Meanwhile, seven players on this team have already played for Team USA in some capacity before this tournament.

Led by head coach Joe Prunty, Team USA begins training in San Juan, Puerto Rico later this month. They will face Bahamas (Feb. 19) and Mexico (Feb. 20) on ESPN+.

Here is what the Rockets reportedly want back in trade for PJ Tucker

After the Houston Rockets traded James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets, rival teams circled them as potential sellers before the trade deadline.

After the Houston Rockets traded James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets, rival teams circled them as potential sellers before the trade deadline.

The most likely player who many believed could potentially on the move is veteran PJ Tucker. The two parties have reportedly been unable to come to terms on a contract extension and multiple teams have called to inquire about his availability. According to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Kelly Iko, the 31-year-old is “not opposed” to a trade.

On a recent episode of The Hoop Collective, basketball insider Brian Windhorst hinted at what it would take to trade for Tucker (via ESPN):

“The word on the street that I heard that has been floated [for his value]: they either want a first-round pick or three seconds, which I’ve never heard that arithmetic done. Three seconds … There are fifteen teams that are somewhat impacted from trading firsts and eight who can’t really trade any, sort of narrows the market. Most of the competitors, most of the teams who are playoff teams this year, are encumbered from trading their pick.”

Windhorst mentioned the Philadelphia 76ers (who “covet” his services), Denver Nuggets (who “have always liked” Tucker but reportedly haven’t reached out yet) and Toronto Raptors (who originally drafted him in 2006) as destinations who are not barred from trading their first-round pick and could be interested in adding Tucker in their pursuit of the playoffs.

After the Harden trade, an NBA executive told our own Michael Scotto that the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics make sense as suitors for Tucker as well. The list is presumably much longer, however, considering every contender could use a player like Tucker.

Windhorst clarified that this may have only been the asking price that Houston told one team during initial conversations to start the negotiations. But after the Harden trade, The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor also reported Tucker’s price as three second-rounders.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks added that it is unlikely that front offices will offer a first-round pick for Tucker or other veterans also on expiring contracts like Derrick Rose. But he said that he would not be surprised to hear about more teams offering packages centered around second-round picks.

Ultimately, if Tucker is eventually moved, it sounds like a front office that is willing to offer three second-round picks could convince the Rockets to pull the trigger.
