[jwplayer lNMqp3Xb-ThvAeFxT]

He’s the man credited with those great Steelers drafts in the early 1970s that helped build the dynasty and netted the team four Super Bowls in the decade. Will former Steelers WR Antonio Brown make the HOF?

Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown says he is retiring again.

[jwplayer uipp5LSQ-ThvAeFxT]

Well, Antonio Brown is at it again. The former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver has once again announced, in a roundabout way he is not returning to football. Brown sent out a series of tweets on Monday that would lead one to believe Brown is going to go ahead and formally hang up the cleats.

Brown spent nine of his 10 seasons with the Steelers. You can barely count the one game he played with the New England Patriots so for this conversation we will forget that ever happened.

If Brown never steps foot on a field again, will he get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

[polldaddy poll=10582491]

Brown has 841 career receptions for 11,261 receiving yards and 75 receiving touchdowns. Brown currently ranks No. 28 in career receptions and No. 35 in career receiving yards. Is that resume good enough to get him into the HOF? Cast your vote and let us know what you think.

Will Steve Hutchinson be inducted into another Hall of Fame in 2021?

Former Seattle Seahawks guard Steve Hutchinson was a great college player, and deserves enshrinement into the College Football Hall of Fame.

It took longer than it probably should have, but former Seattle Seahawks guard Steve Hutchinson finally heard his name called for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the class of 2020.

However, Hutch could make it two years in a row getting inducted into a Hall of Fame, as he is one of eight players with ties to the Seattle Seahawks who is on the 99-player ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2021.

Hutchinson initially joined the Seahawks as the 17th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft out of the University of Michigan.

While there, Hutch earned a ton of accolades; which included being named a unanimous first team All-American in 2000, and being one of just seven players in conference history to be named first-team All-Big Ten four times.

Hutch also helped lead the Wolverines to four Bowl victories, including a National Championship win in the 1997 Rose Bowl – his freshman season.

Hutchinson finally earned his enshrinement into the Pro Hall of Fame, and now it is time for the College Football Hall of Fame to follow suit and acknowledge that one of the best guards to ever play the game in the NFL was just as elite, if not moreso, at the collegiate level.

Langham and Samuels both named to College Football Hall of Fame ballot

Antonio Langham and Chris Samuels were both named to the 2021 ballot for induction into the National Football Foundation & CFB HOF.

On Tuesday, Former Alabama defensive back Antonio Langham and offensive tackle Chris Samuels were both named to the 2021 ballot for induction into the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame.

The press release announced that the ballot ” included 78 players and seven coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and 99 players and 33 coaches from the divisional ranks.”

“It’s an enormous honor to just be on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot considering more than 5.4 million people have played college football and only 1,027 players have been inducted,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “The Hall’s requirement of being a First-Team All-American creates a much smaller pool of about 1,500 individuals who are even eligible. Being in today’s elite group means an individual is truly among the greatest to have ever played the game, and we look forward to announcing the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame Class Presented by ETT early next year.”

Langham was a first team All-American in 1993 and also won the Jim Thorpe Award as the nation’s top defensive back. He also helped Alabama win the 1992 National Championship. In his career at Alabama, he recorded 19 interceptions and 3 TDs.

Also representing the Crimson Tide on the ballot is former Alabama offensive tackle Chris Samuels. Samuels became a huge part of Alabama’s success during his time in Tuscaloosa. In 1999, he was a first team All-American and also won the Outland Trophy. He also won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy which was awarded to him because he didn’t allow a single sack all single, and was a key component of Shaun Alexander’s 1000+ yards rushing.

In the history of the Hall of Fame, there are 20 players as well as 4 coaches who represent the Crimson Tide. It’s also important to note that one other former Alabama player (Frank Howard) was named to the CFB HOF for his time coaching at Clemson.

The most recent Alabama player to be named to the HOF was former defensive end E.J. Junior III who will be inducted at the end of this year.

Joining Junior in the HOF is Cornelius Bennett, Johnny Mack Brown, Johnny Cain, Harry Gilmer, John Hannah, Dixie Howell, Pooley Hubert, Don Hutson, Lee Roy Jordan, Woodrow Lowe, Marty Lyons, Vaughn Mancha, Johnny Musso, Billy Neighbors, Ozzie Newsome, Fred Sington, Riley Smith, and Don Whitmire.

The four Alabama coaches who are in the HOF as well as Paul “Bear” Bryant, Gene Stallings, Frank Thomas, and Wallace Wade.

The announcement of the 2021 College Football Hall of Fame Class Presented by ETT will be made in early 2021. Details to be announced at a later date.

NFL writer Peter King admits he didn’t vote for Troy Polamalu for HOF

Peter Kind didn’t use any of his HOF votes on Troy Polamalu.

Over the weekend, former Pittsburgh Steelers legend Troy Polamalu was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Considering how great Polamalu’s career was, you would assume he would have been a unanimous vote.

But you would be wrong.

NFL writer Peter King discussed his HOF vote in his latest column and admitted he did not vote for Polamalu. His reasoning behind using his vote elsewhere was a moral decision and one I adamantly disagree with.

King felt like he was safe to spend his three votes on other players on the assumption Polamalu would get enough votes to get in and King could say he voted his conscience.

This worked out but had several votes taken his high and mighty approach, it could have cost Polamalu a spot when he was easily the most deserving candidate on the ballot.

Will the Seattle Seahawks have a Hall of Famer in 2021?

Now that Steve Hutchinson and Edgerrin James are both in, who will be the next Seattle Seahawks player or coach to make the Hall of Fame?

On Saturday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the five modern-era enshrinees in the Class of 2020, and two former Seattle Seahawks — guard Steve Hutchinson and running back Edgerrin James — were among those selected.

Hutchinson becomes the fifth Seahawks draft pick to join the Hall, and he and James are the 11th and 12th players who suited up for the Seahawks to get inducted.

James and Hutchinson were the only two former Seahawks to appear on the 15-man final ballot for the modern-era committee, which makes it harder to predict who will be the team’s next representative in the Hall.

Seattle had six other representatives among the 122 nominees for the Class of 2020: quarterback Dave Krieg; center Ray Donaldson; punter Jeff Feagles; and running backs Shaun Alexander, Ricky Watters and Chris Warren.

However, only Watters advanced to the round of 25 semifinalists, and he was not among the 15 finalists.

Without any former Seahawks expected to join the ballot as newcomers next year, it looks like Watters is the team’s best chance at having a new modern-era Hall of Famer in 2021.

Of course, with Peyton Manning and Charles Woodson locks to get in on their first ballot and Calvin Johnson also up for consideration, it will be an extremely difficult year for Watters or any of the other former Seahawks to get enshrined.

That doesn’t mean they’ll be without a representative, however — both Mike Holmgren and Tom Flores, two former Seattle coaches, will be up for consideration again. It seems far more likely the Seahawks will have a former coach inducted in 2021 rather than a former player.
