Chiefs vs. 49ers: Mecole Hardman impresses with outstanding punt return

Take a look at this video of #Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman’s outstanding punt return against the San Francisco #49ers in Week 7.

Mecole Hardman was a hero in the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers back in February, and with a Super Bowl LVIII rematch playing out at Levi’s Stadium this afternoon, the veteran wideout was keen to make his presence felt in Week 7.

Hardman caught one pass for 17 yards in the first half, but his most impressive effort came on a punt return in the second quarter that gave Kansas City’s offense favorable field position to extend its slim lead.

Take a look at Hardman’s outstanding return in this video, which was posted to Twitter by the NFL’s official account:

With JuJu Smith-Schuster listed as questionable to return due to a hamstring injury, expect Hardman to continue putting on a show as he looks to earn a greater role in Andy Reid’s offense heading into Week 8.

Stay tuned to see if Hardman can find paydirt against the 49ers later in the game.

Chiefs vs. 49ers: Kareem Hunt scores nifty touchdown

The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of a heated defensive battle against the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl LVIII rematch.

After a few early turnovers to start Sunday’s game, the Chiefs were finally able to march down the field and break the scoreless seal.

With the help of a few defensive penalties against San Francisco, Kansas City found the endzone with ease thanks to a one-yard run by running back Kareem Hunt.

Take a look at this video of Hunt’s outstanding touchdown that gave the Chiefs a second-quarter lead, courtesy of the team’s official Twitter account:

The Chiefs have struggled to convert in the red zone all season, but with the return of Hunt, it seems Kansas City may have found their red zone formula.

Look for the veteran back to continue getting the ball as the Chiefs look to remain undefeated in the 2024 season.

Chiefs vs. 49ers: Justin Reid intercepts Brock Purdy on opening drive

Check out this video of #Chiefs DB Justin Reid intercepting one of #49ers QB Brock Purdy’s passes in Week 7.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ defense wasted no time making an early impact in their Super Bowl LVIII rematch against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.

After a failed fake punt attempt on the Chiefs’ first drive gave San Francisco favorable field position, Kansas City’s defense was quick to respond with a big play.

When 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy rolled out of the pocket against the Chiefs’ defensive line, veteran safety Justin Reid knew exactly where the ball was headed, and was able to jump into the throwing lane to intercept a pass.

Take a look at Reid’s impressive interception in this video, which was posted by the Chiefs’ official Twitter account:

Kansas City was unable to score on the ensuing drive, and the Chiefs would enter the second quarter down by three points.

Look for Reid and Kansas City’s other veteran defenders to stay active against San Francisco as the Chiefs look to keep their undefeated record intact heading into Week 8.

After a short kickoff return by Kansas to open the game, Daniels easily marched the Jayhawks’ offense down the field, and eventually connected with tight end Jared Casey for the game’s opening score.

Garrett managed to block the kick, and McLeod recovered the live ball and returned it for a rare special teams touchdown.

When Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins nailed the extra point attempt after McLeod’s score, Cleveland drew even with the Eagles.

WATCH: Drake Maye drops 40-yard dime on first career touchdown pass

This was a beautiful throw by Drake Maye

New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye threw the first touchdown pass of his career on Sunday afternoon before entering the locker room for halftime.

The North Carolina product was finding his footing throughout much of the first half. However, he was able to connect with wide receiver Kayshon Boutte for the score.

The drive itself took five plays, 84 yards and 48 seconds off the clock. He dropped the pass in the bucket to Boutte, who took it 40 yards for the touchdown.

There were some initial nerves at first, but Maye looked to be settling in nicely later in the game.

New England was beginning to make a climb back after the Texans started off the game strong.

The rookie quarterback found his rhythm right before halftime, and Patriots fans hope those improvements continue as he gains more experience throughout the season.

Jayden Reed caught former Green Bay Packers linebacker Krys Barnes in coverage, and the second-year receiver gave his team a 7-0 lead with a 5-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter of Sunday’s showdown with the Arizona Cardinals at Lambeau Field.

The scoring march was set up by complimentary football and explosive plays.

Daniel Whelan pinned the Cardinals inside the 10-yard line with a punt, the Packers defense forced a quick three-and-out, and Reed’s punt return — combined with a penalty — set up the Packers in Cardinals territory. From there, Josh Jacobs (14 yards) and Bo Melton (16) produced explosive runs, and Love and Reed finished the drive with the touchdown pass.

The Packers needed five plays to go 44 yards.

Green Bay has 41 rushing yards and Reed has two catches on the offense’s first two drives on Sunday.

WATCH: Former Wisconsin WR scores electrifying game-tying touchdown in Florida’s OT loss to Tennessee

Big moment for Chimere Dike against Tennessee on Saturday:

Former Wisconsin wide receiver Chimere Dike was the center of the college football world for a few minutes on Saturday night.

The longtime Badger caught a 27-yard touchdown pass from Florida backup quarterback D.J. Lagway to tie the Gators’ game against No. 8 Tennessee at 17 with 30 seconds remaining in regulation.

Tennessee would go on to win 23-17 in overtime on a one-yard touchdown run from RB Dylan Sampson. But Dike’s game-extending touchdown grab brought a potential season-defining upset into the picture. It was almost the highlight moment of what was an all-time day in the sport.

Here is the play, as Dike silenced an anxious Tennessee home crowd:

Lagway was in the game for Florida after starter and former Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz went down with an injury. The freshman had an up-and-down showing, completing nine of 17 passes for 98 yards, that touchdown and one crucial interception.

Dike finished the contest with four receptions for 76 yards and the touchdown. His season-long totals are up to 19 catches, 353 yards and two touchdowns.

Florida drops to 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in SEC play with the loss, while Tennessee improves to 5-1 (2-1 SEC).

The story surrounding the Gators will now turn to the health of Mertz and the long-term status of head coach Billy Napier. Things don’t get any easier for the Gators, with upcoming games against No. 5 Georgia, No. 1 Texas, No. 13 LSU and No. 9 Ole Miss.

Mertz’s injury and questions about the head coach paint a less-than-optimistic rest-of-season outlook.
