Chiefs vs Bills: Patrick Mahomes, Xavier Worthy connect for early touchdown

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes connected with rookie WR Xavier Worthy for a touchdown against the Buffalo #Bills in Week 11.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy wasted no time making his mark in the defending Super Bowl champions’ Week 11 matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

After Patrick Mahomes threw an early interception that led to a Bills touchdown, the veteran quarterback marched the Chiefs’ offense downfield with the help of Worthy.

Mahomes struggled to find open receivers early in the game, but when he started looking the rookie’s way, momentum shifted in Kansas City’s favor.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP eventually found Worthy for a touchdown that gave the Chiefs a second-quarter lead over Buffalo.

Take a look at Worthy’s go-ahead touchdown, which was posted by the Chiefs’ official Twitter account:

Worthy racked up 61 of the 88 yards of Kansas City’s touchdown drive, and has been the Chiefs’ most explosive offensive weapon.

Expect Mahomes to continue to find Worthy in today’s game as the Chiefs look to keep their perfect season intact.

WATCH: Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne snags Drake Maye touchdown pass

Drake Maye and Kendrick Bourne got the scoring going early

The New England Patriots scored the first touchdown of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Rookie quarterback Drake Maye connected with veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne for the score. The touchdown ended a seven-play, 77-yard drive that took 2:34 off the clock. It was Bourne’s first touchdown of the season, and it came a week after he was benched.

It was Maye’s eighth touchdown pass of the year on a day that saw him start off passing 7-of-9 through the air.

Maye has looked more in control of the offense each week he’s been under center. On this drive in particular, he did a great job of utilizing the few receiving weapons available to him, and it culminated into a touchdown reception for Bourne.

Packers highlight: Free play TD gives GB early lead vs. Bears

The Packers took a 7-0 lead over the Bears on a free play touchdown pass from Jordan Love to Jayden Reed.

A dominant run game and a couple of completions from Jordan Love — into one on a free play — got the Green Bay Packers into the end zone on the opening drive of Sunday’s showdown with the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson combined for 38 rushing yards, and Love completed passes to Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed on the 70-yard scoring march that gave the Packers an early 7-0 advantage.

The touchdown came on a free play. After a 13-yard run, Love caught the Bears trying to make a substitution, and after drawing the flag for too many men on the field, Love fired a strike to Reed for a 15-yard touchdown.

Here’s the scoring play:

Love threw an accurate back-shoulder ball for Reed, who made the adjustment and the catch for the touchdown — his fourth receiving score of the season.

The scoring drive took 3:45 off the first quarter clock. The Packers did not face a third down on the drive.

Overall, Love completed two of three passes for 32 yards on the opening drive. The touchdown pass was his 16th of the season. Jacobs ran for 25 yards, including a 10-yarder.

The Bears kicked a 53-yard field goal on their opening drive to cut the lead to 7-3.

Tyrann Mathieu on forcing turnovers: ‘You want to touch the football’

Tyrann Mathieu hadn’t intercepted a pass since Week 3, and he was itching to touch the football. The New Orleans Saints safety delivered:

“Every now and then you itch to make more than just tackles. You want to touch the football.” You’d be unsurprised to know it was New Orleans Saints team captain Tyrann Mathieu who made that statement.

The safety made his name as a playmaker and is one of those defenders who’s really an offensive guy at heart.

Mathieu was finally able to scratch that itch. Against the Atlanta Falcons, he came down with his first interception of the season since Week 3. It came at a pivotal time in the fourth quarter. He anticipated what was coming based on formation and Cousins’ tendencies. By the Falcon formation, Mathieu knew it wasn’t going to be anything deeper than a dig route. That also is one of the quarterback’s favorite routes.

“When we played those guys the first game, it was a lot of digs. Kirk Cousins is comfortable throwing that route when he needs a play,” Mathieu said.

With that in mind, Mathieu “sat at 15 (yards)“ and broke on the pass once he read it.

The Falcons needed a play, and they went for the dig. The Saints needed a play, and Tyrann Mathieu showed he still has a nose for the ball.

Chiefs vs. Broncos: Rising DB sacks Bo Nix in first quarter

#Chiefs DB Nazeeh Johnson sacked #Broncos QB Bo Nix in the first quarter of Kansas City’s AFC West showdown against Denver in Week 10.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive unit wasted no time making a statement in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs’ pass rush has been a key part of the defending Super Bowl champions’ undefeated start to the 2024 regular season, and rising defensive back Nazeeh Johnson was the latest player to take down an opposing quarterback.

After back-to-back scoreless drives for both teams, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo drew up a perfect blitz against Broncos rookie Bo Nix on first down.

Johnson lept on his opportunity to get involved and sacked Nix for a huge loss that ultimately forced Denver to punt later in the drive.

Take a look at Johnson’s highlight reel sack in this video, which was posted by the Chiefs’ official Twitter account:

Expect Spagnuolo to continue featuring Johnson in his defensive game plan to keep the pressure on Nix as Kansas City looks to keep its perfect season intact.

Though Kansas City managed to tie the game, Mahomes had to be helped off the field after aggravating an ankle injury that he sustained in Week 8 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Kansas City Chiefs fought back from an early deficit to take a second-quarter lead over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 9.

Hopkins, who joined Kansas City last month via trade, caught a touchdown pass from reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes that helped swing momentum back in the Chiefs’ favor.

Before his six-point score, Hopkins made an impressive catch that got Kansas City’s offense into the red zone late in the second quarter.

WATCH: Shemar Jean-Charles rips the ball away for a must-see interception

WATCH: Saints corner Shemar Jean-Charles rips the ball away from Panthers wideout Xavier Legette for a must-see interception in his first start:

The New Orleans Saints’ defense picked up late in their game with the Carolina Panthers, especially on this play as Shemar Jean-Charles ripped the ball away from rookie Xavier Legette for an interception. Legette had all but caught and tucked away the pass, but Jean-Charles was able to get his hands between the ball and the receiver, pulling the ball away for himself instead and giving the Saints possession back.

In a game where the cornerback group is pretty much completely new aside from Alontae Taylor due to injuries, they needed someone to step up if they were to have a chance on defense. The preseason standout Jean-Charles was one such player, making an exceptional play on the defensive end in his first career start.

Chiefs vs. Raiders: Patrick Mahomes finds Xavier Worthy for touchdown

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes found rookie WR Xavier Worthy for a fourth-quarter touchdown against the #Raiders in Week 8.

The Kansas City Chiefs entered Week 8 as the NFL’s only undefeated team, and the Las Vegas Raiders have done their best to give the defending Super Bowl champions a run for their money in the fourth quarter of an AFC West showdown at Allegiant Stadium.

After three-quarters of back-and-forth football, quarterback Patrick Mahomes was able to lead a potentially game-sealing drive late in the game to extend Kansas City’s lead in a crucial situation.

With just under five minutes left in regulation, Mahomes hit rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy for a much-needed touchdown in crunch time.

Check out this video of #Chiefs LB Drue Tranquill recovering a fumble against the #Raiders in Week 8.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a seven-point lead over the Las Vegas Raiders in the fourth quarter of an AFC West showdown in Week 8.

Though Kansas City is undefeated in the regular season, the Chiefs have had their hands full against Las Vegas, which has put up a good fight against the defending Super Bowl champions through three quarters and change.

The Raiders had a chance to tie the game with a touchdown late in the fourth quarter but were stymied by Kansas City’s outstanding defense when veteran lineman Mike Pennel forced a fumble that was recovered by star linebacker Drue Tranquill.

Check out this video of the crucial turnover, which was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs’ official account:

This game has been too close for comfort for fans in Kansas City, but the potentially game-saving turnover forced by Pennel and Tranquill may have saved the Chiefs’ perfect season.
