Houston Texans announce rookie numbers for Will Anderson Jr., Henry To’oTo’o

Will Anderson and Henry To’o To’o rookie numbers announced

The Houston Texans are entering the first year of their rebuild under newly-hired head coach DeMeco Ryans. The rebuild will be no easy task for Ryans, as he takes over a messy franchise and a very poor roster. To make matters worse, the Texans would have had the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft if not for former head coach Lovie Smith.

In the final game of the regular season, the Texans scored a touchdown with 50 seconds left in a meaningless game against the Colts to cut Indianapolis’ lead to 31-30. Rather than take the PAT and play for OT or lose the game intentionally to hold onto the top pick in the draft, Smith shocked the world and went for two, and got it. The Texans won 32-31, and the Chicago Bears earned the No. 1 overall pick due to the last-minute victory.

The Texans ended up with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft where they selected Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud. They then made the most surprising move of the draft by trading back up to No. 3 overall to land the top defensive prospect Will Anderson Jr. Credit where it is due, in his first draft, Ryans was able to land the QB of the future and the centerpiece of his defense.

Now, for a quick game of what if. If the Texans had lost that game to the Colts and held onto the No. 1 pick in the draft, would we have seen former Alabama stars Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. team up again in Houston? Just food for thought.

The Texans had a very solid draft and filled a lot of holes on their roster. Both Anderson and LB Henry To’o To’o will be massive contributors on this Houston defense from day one. Ryans, also a former member of the Crimson Tide, already has the franchise heading in the right direction.

Ryans has high hopes for this 2023 rookie class, especially Anderson and To’o To’o. Today, the Texans released the rookie numbers of the players they just drafted. Anderson, who wore No. 31 in college, will wear No. 51 and Henry To’o To’o, who was No. 10, will now be rocking No. 39.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitory To’o To’o and Anderson in their NFL campaigns.

Saints Wire four-round collaborative 2023 mock draft

Recapping our picks in the Saints Wire four-round collaborative 2023 mock draft, via @john_siglerr, @DillySanders, @RossJacksonNOLA, and @MaddyHudak_94:

What will the New Orleans Saints do on draft day? That’s an impossible question to answer so far out from the 2023 NFL draft, but that’s not going to stop us from trying. The Saints Wire staff got together and collaborated on a four-round projection using the Pro Football Network mock draft machine.

Here’s what we came away with in trying to mimic what we know about the Saints draft trends and likely team needs after free agency and a month out from this year’s selection process:

Broncos select OLB and ILB in 3rd round of NFL mock draft

Touchdown Wire’s recent NFL mock draft has the Broncos selecting OLB Derick Hall and ILB Henry To’o To’o in the third round.

In his latest three-round NFL mock draft for Touchdown Wire, Doug Farrar has the Denver Broncos improving their linebacker depth chart.

The Broncos do not hold first- or second-round picks in the 2023 NFL draft, but they have two selections (Nos. 67 and 68) in the third round. With the first of those two picks, Farrar has Denver selecting Auburn edge defender Derick Hall.

Hall (6-3, 254 pounds) was a defensive lineman last season, but he would presumably switch to outside linebacker if selected by a team that runs a 3-4 defense. He totaled 24 tackles behind the line of scrimmage and 15.5 sacks in his final two seasons (25 games) with the Tigers.

With their next pick in Farrar’s mock, the Broncos add Alabama inside linebacker Henry To’o To’o. He had a productive two-year run with the Crimson Tide, totaling 205 tackles (15.5 behind the line) and 6.5 sacks in 28 games. To’o To’o (6-1, 227 pounds) would be a candidate to eventually win one of the team’s starting ILB spots.

8 Alabama players land inside the top 100 of latest 2023 NFL draft big board

A total of eight Alabama players land inside the top 100 of Tankathon’s 2023 NFL draft big board.

Now that Alabama’s football season has concluded, it is time to shift our focus to one of my favorite events each year, the NFL draft.

Despite not winning a championship, talent was not lacking on the Crimson Tide roster. Tankathon recently updated its 2023 NFL draft big board, and eight Alabama players landed inside the top 100.

The usual suspects of [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag], [autotag]Will Anderson Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Brian Branch[/autotag] make an appearance, but you may find a couple of surprises rounding out the list.

Here is a complete list of all the Tide players included and where they rank according to Tankathon:

2023 NFL Mock Draft: Browns trade down, land Lukas Van Ness and Byron Young

The weather is getting colder, which means the season for mock drafts is getting warmer!

As the weather continues to get colder in Northeast Ohio, the 2023 NFL Mock Drafts are going to heat up. With the 2023 NFL Draft now just five months away, and with the Cleveland Browns sitting at 5-7 on the season, there are reasons for trying to fill current voids on the current roster. What better way to prepare for a game tomorrow against the Cincinnati Bengals than with a mock draft today?

Again, the Browns currently hold the 47th overall pick in the draft as the first time they will come on the clock after a blockbuster trade this summer for quarterback Deshaun Watson. With needs all over the defensive side of the football and a few places on the offensive side of the ball, we do our best here to plug some gaps on the roster.

This draft was completed using PFF’s mock draft simulator. Please note PFF has left off the Browns’ third round compensatory pick they will receive. This has been added to the mock draft.

Alabama releases Henry To’oTo’o video: ‘100,000 screaming Tennessee fans is like music to my ears’

Alabama releases Henry To’oTo’o video: “100,000 screaming Tennessee fans is like music to my ears”

No. 8 Tennessee (5-0, 2-0 SEC) will host No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Week 7.

Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. EDT. CBS will televise the Southeastern Conference matchup.

Alabama linebacker Henry To’oTo’o will return to Tennessee for the SEC matchup.

To’oTo’o played for the Vols from 2019-20. He appeared in 23 games at Tennessee, totaling 148 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one interception, five pass deflections and one fumble recovery.

Ahead of the Tennessee-Alabama game, the Crimson Tide released a video with To’oTo’o on his return to Neyland Stadium.

“100,000 screaming Tennessee fans is like music to my ears,” To’oTo’o said on returning to Neyland Stadium.

Below are To’oTo’o’s season statistics with Alabama in 2022.

Mock draft watch: Lions load the D in latest 2-round projections from Draft Wire

Mock draft watch: Lions load the D in latest 2-round projections from Draft Wire for 2023

Four weeks is enough time to have a better idea of the team needs for the 2023 NFL draft. The updated mock draft projections from Draft Wire after Week 4 reflect precisely where the Detroit Lions should be looking for help in next year’s draft.

The defense.

Analyst Luke Easterling projected all three Lions selections in the first two rounds to the defensive side of the ball. Leading off at the No. 9 overall pick–based on the current draft order determined by the NFL standings–is Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr. He’s become a popular projection for his length on the outside and hard-hitting pedigree.

With the pick acquired from the Los Angeles Rams, No. 24 overall right now, the Lions go back to the secondary with Texas A&M safety Antonio Johnson.

More reinforcements are needed for the Lions’ porous defense, and in this scenario, the best marriage of fit and value comes on the back end. Johnson is a big, rangy playmaker with an impressive combination of instincts, athleticism and ball skills, and can make big plays in coverage or in run support.

In the second round, the projection turns to linebacker. Alabama’s tackling machine, Henry To’o To’o. The senior LB is undersized and lacks power but has excellent range and simply does not miss tackles. His awareness in coverage has improved in 2022 for the Crimson Tide, too. Landing To’o To’o at No. 38 would be a nice fit.

Why Alabama shouldn’t lose a night of sleep over Texas

Saban will say it’s rat poison, but privately he knows he’s gonna put a hurtin’ on his former assistant Sark.

While many college football analysts have Alabama vs. Texas as one of the marquee matchups of this upcoming season, I’m here to tell you it’s not. In all likelihood, it will be a blowout by the Crimson Tide.

[autotag]Steve Sarkisian[/autotag] will come prepared with tricks up his sleeve, unfortunately he is severely outmanned by the likes of [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag], [autotag]Will Anderson[/autotag] and company.

Not only do the Tide have the defending Heisman Trophy winner under center, but they may have one of the best pass rush tandems in college football history with Anderson and [autotag]Dallas Turner[/autotag].

Young and transfer running back [autotag]Jahmyr Gibbs[/autotag] will headline the Alabama offense, however it will be won by the five hogs up front. As well as one of the most talented defensive front seven’s under head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag].

Here are the top reasons why the Sept. 10 showdown could get ugly, and fast.

Late offensive transfer portal additions Alabama should consider

It may be late in the game, but the transfer portal still has plenty of talent Alabama could add.

Nick Saban warned the nation of what might happen to college football if transferring was made easier and more accessible. His warning was not headed and Alabama has been a hot landing spot for transfers.

Last season it was former Ohio State wide receiver [autotag]Jameson Williams[/autotag] and former Tennessee linebacker [autotag]Henry To’o To’o[/autotag] who joined the Crimson Tide and made an immediate impact.

For the upcoming 2022 season, Alabama added Georgia wide receiver [autotag]Jermaine Burton[/autotag], Georgia Tech running back [autotag]Jahmyr Gibbs[/autotag] and LSU corner back [autotag]Eli Ricks[/autotag].

There’s still plenty of offensive talent lingering within the transfer portal and Saban may not be done recruiting them.

Here are a few offensive players currently seeking a new start through the transfer portal.

Tennessee transfer Henry To’o To’o picks up crystal ball prediction to Ohio State

Henry To’o To’o to Ohio State is starting to pick up steam as the Tennesse transfer picked up a crystal ball prediction to the Buckeyes.

The waters have begun stirring as rumors that Henry To’o To’o is close to making his transfer decision. Alabama has been the favorite for a while now, but the SEC still has not lifted their rule on interconference transfers. If To’o To’o were to choose the Crimson Tide at this point, he’d have to sit out a year.

Last night, the Buckeyes got some good news from Ohio State recruiting insider, Bill Kurelic who now has the Tennesee transfer crystal balled to OSU.  There are two other predictions that have To’o To’o still landing in Tuscaloosa, but Kurelic has a pretty good track record when it comes to Buckeye recruits and usually doesn’t give his crystal ball pick until he feels closer to certain. And that’s good news for Ohio State.

To’o To’o has been arguably the best linebacker on Tennesee’s roster both as a freshman and sophomore. He was on the Butkus and Bednarik watch lists as in his second year in Knoxville and has totaled 140 tackles with 12.5 of those coming for a loss in his two years.

This would be a big catch either way, but it would especially be huge after losing Dasan McCullough to Indiana earlier this week. We’ll keep you updated as further news develops.
