4-star quarterback Bear Bachmeier commits to Stanford, will wear No. 47

Bear Bachmeier, a four-star quarterback who committed to Stanford, is the third Bachmeier kid to choose an FBS football program.

Bear is choosing the Tree.

Class of 2025 star quarterback Bear Bachmeier, from Murrieta Valley (Calif.) High School, announced his commitment to Stanford on Monday. Ranked as the No. 11 quarterback on the 247Sports Composite, Bachmeier chose the Cardinal over 18 other schools that offered him, including Oregon, Arkansas and Michigan State, according to 247Sports and ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Bachmeier is listed on 247Sports at 6-foot-1.5 and 225 pounds. Over his high school career, which is two years plus one game freshman year in which he completed six of seven passes for 84 yards, Bachmeier has thrown for 5,550 yards at a 69% completion rate and 47 touchdowns to 12 interceptions.

Bachmeier will wear No. 47 at Stanford, according to Thamel. The quarterback said he started wearing that number at age 5, when he first played football, and has a fullback mentality when he runs.

“I wouldn’t want to get in front of me,” Bachmeier said to ESPN. “I think I play like Josh Allen. I’m a passer first but can tuck the ball and go get extra yards.”

At Stanford, he will play with his brother, current freshman wide receiver Tiger Bachmeier. Bear told ESPN that his brother’s presence was a “big influence” in his decision.

“Him being there and getting first-hand experience through him to what really goes on,” he said. “Also, it’s going to be cool as hell when I’m throwing touchdowns to him.”

The eldest brother, Hank Bachmeier, is also a collegiate quarterback. He recently transferred to Wake Forest.

With Bear’s commitment, Stanford now has four commits in the class of 2025. Bachmeier is the highest rated of the bunch.

Transfer quarterback for Notre Dame: Who’s available and do they fit

Who do you like?

The Irish should have recruited another quarterback during this past offseason but opted not to and it has come back to bite them. With [autotag]Tyler Buchner[/autotag] and an extensive injury history and [autotag]Drew Pyne[/autotag] having up-and-down play so far in his career, it makes sense to look elsewhere for a quarterback. Although the season is just about at the midway point, there have been multiple quarterbacks that have already entered the transfer portal and a few of them have even already made their decisions.

Some of this will depend on where the offense goes after the season. Will offensive coordinator [autotag]Tommy Rees[/autotag] still be around? Will [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] add another mind on that side of the ball and add a co-coordinator title. That remains to be seen so let’s take a look at who is currently available and if they are a fit for Notre Dame. (This list will be updated as more quarterbacks enter the portal.)

NFL Draft preview: Boise State Broncos top prospects

NFL Draft preview: Boise State Broncos top prospects #NFLDraft #Browns

We recently discussed the dynamic defensive line that the Clemson Tigers have and they lived up to the hype on Monday night against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, but we are moving through the college football season fast and ferociously.

Welcome to Week 2 of the 2022 college football season. We had two match-ups Friday night. I probably chose the game that is less interesting to most, but Boise State and New Mexico is an extremely interesting Mountain West match-up and the Bosie State Broncos feature a few interesting prospects that would be interesting fits for the Clevland Browns.

Boise State is going through a bit of a quarterback controversy, but we will see what happens.

Week 1 college football betting picks to watch

Here are some week one college football odds to keep in mind as game day approaches.

Greetings, sports fans! I’d like to welcome you from one of the states that has benefitted the most from sports gambling: New Jersey. We here on the east coast, counting the Garden State, Pennsylvania, and the latest success story New York, are firmly behind the trend that has swept through sports. One day proud Americans from coast to coast will be able to make parlays with pride.

If you are one of those from an enlightened state in the country such as Iowa, I welcome you to join me as I take a look at some of my favorite odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook. I would like to state from the start that I am not an expert, nor a professional gambler. I am just a diehard football fan passionate about the idea and industry of sports gambling.

As always, make sure to gamble responsibly my friends.

Boise State QB Hank Bachmeier appeared to join Zoom class from locker room during lightning delay

Good way to pass the time.

Boise State and UCF had some delays due to weather — specifically, a lot of lightning — before the Broncos fell to the Knights 36-31 on Thursday night.

But Boise QB Hank Bachmeier had a good way to pass the time: He logged into a Zoom class for one of his classes — the Idaho Statesman reports it was for “a class with Dr. Ray Fang, an assistant professor in the department of management at Boise State.”

Yep, there he was in full uniform, in the locker room, just popping in unexpectedly. He even commented to say hello! That’s pretty cool, isn’t it?

Check it out:

Even though Bachmeier lost later in the night, he won off the field.

Prediction

Boise State 29, Washington 24

Moneyline (ML)

BOISE STATE (+130) is a good bet in this game. The Broncos are 4-0 straight-up all time in the Las Vegas Bowl (formerly the Maaco Bowl) – all against Pac-12 opponents. The Broncos might be deeper than the Huskies at the skill positions as Holani, WR John Hightower and the trio of quarterbacks give Boise State tremendous talent across the board.

New to sports betting? Every $1 wagered on the Boise State ML will profit $1.30 if the Broncos win.

Against the Spread (ATS)

BOISE STATE (+3.5, -121) is a nice play with the points if you want a little bit of insurance, although the Broncos are a great play straight-up, too. The Broncos are 7-0 ATS in their past seven as an underdog, and 7-3 ATS in the past 10 bowl games while going 9-4 ATS in the past 13 neutral-site affairs. On the flip side, Washington is 1-4 ATS in the past five neutral-site games and 1-4 ATS in the past five bowl games.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 49.5 (+105) is a good value at plus-money. The over is 5-2 in Boise State’s past seven bowl games. Plus, the Broncos are 5-2 in their past seven games as an underdog. The Over is 5-2 in the past seven for Washington against teams with a winning record.

Boise State at Utah State odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Saturday’s Boise State Broncos at Utah State Aggies sports betting odds and lines, with college football picks, tips and bets.

The Boise State Broncos (9-1, 6-0, MWC Mountain) and Utah State Aggies (6-4, 5-1 MWC Mountain) square off in Logan, Utah at 10:30 p.m. ET Saturday in a key divisional showdown with postseason implications. We analyze the Boise State-Utah State odds and betting lines, while providing college football betting tips and advice on this matchup.

Boise State at Utah State: Three things you need to know

1. The Broncos are 0-1 straight up and against the spread in the state of Utah this season, losing 28-25 at BYU Oct. 19 as seven-point favorites.

2. Boise State QB Hank Bachmeier (shoulder) is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury. QBs Chase Cord and Jaylon Henderson have started and held down the fort in the true freshman’s place since he went down vs. Hawaii, and again against San Jose State.

3. Boise State has dominated this series against the number, going 8-1 ATS in the past nine trips to Logan, and 12-3-2 ATS in the past 17 meetings overall. The road team is also 7-3-2 ATS in the past 12 battles.

Prediction

Boise State 34, Utah State 23

Moneyline (ML)

Boise State (-334) is just too expensive on the road, as there is too much risk and not enough reward. The Broncos will win this game and keep their New Year’s Day bowl hopes alive, though.

New to sports betting? A $10 wager on Boise State to win would return a profit of $3.00.

Against the Spread (ATS)

BOISE STATE (-8.5, -115) is worth a small-unit play, as it has playmakers all over the offense, including the dynamic WR Khalil Shakir (44-615-4, also two rushing TDs), as well as leading WR John Hightower (37-754-6) and RB George Holani (131-692-5, also two receiving TDs). USU just doesn’t have the same kind of athletes as the Broncos, and it will show, particularly in the second half.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER (52.5, -110) is worth a small-unit play, too, but don’t get crazy. The Over is 9-3-1 in the past 13 meetings, including 4-0 in Logano. However, the Under has dominated for both of these sides lately, including 8-1 in the past nine vs. winning teams for Boise, and 7-1 in the past eight MWC games for USU.

Still, we could see some nice offense, especially with no snow in the forecast; however, it is expected to snow the rest of the week. Sounds like a good excuse to warm up with some spirits at the White Owl in Logan, a great place for drinks in Utah State’s little college town.
