2020 Travelers Championship odds, predictions, picks and PGA Tour best bets

Analyzing the golf betting odds to win the 2020 Travelers Championship, with PGA Tour betting odds, picks, predictions and best bets.

[jwplayer sXzKInoZ]

The Travelers Championship begins Thursday at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Conn., as the PGA Tour’s best move on from Webb Simpson’s victory at last week’s RBC Heritage. Below, we look at the BetMGM betting odds and make our best bets for the Travelers Championship.

Another loaded field is in attendance as Patrick Cantlay, who ranks sixth in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings, makes his first appearance out of the midseason break. Defending champ Chez Reavie and three-time winner Bubba Watson are also in attendance. Charles Schwab Challenge champ Daniel Berger withdrew from the field Sunday night following his T-3 finish at the RBC Heritage.

TPC River Highlands measures just 6,841 yards and plays to a par of 70 with Bentgrass greens.

Paul Casey (+2800)

Casey will tee it up for the first time since The Players Championship was canceled. He has three top-5 finishes here in the last three years and another runner-up result in 2015. No one with at least five rounds played at TPC River Highlands averages more than Casey’s 2.46 strokes gained per round on the field, according to Data Golf.

Marc Leishman (+4500)

Leishman took last week off following a missed cut at the Charles Schwab Challenge. The Farmers Insurance Open champ was the runner-up at the Arnold Palmer Invitational ahead of the break. He ranks first in this field in Strokes Gained: Ball Striking and Par 4 Efficiency: 400-450 Yards on courses shorter than 7,200 yards and featuring Bentgrass greens, according to Fantasy National.

(Photo Credit: Brian Spurlock – USA TODAY Sports)

Ian Poulter (+7000)

Poulter has scored in the 60s in six of his last eight rounds, including all four at Harbour Town Golf Links last week. His minus-16 resulted in just a T-14 finish last week in what turned out to be a shootout at the RBC Heritage. He hasn’t played here since a 43rd-place finish in 2013, but he’s a value at these odds due to his current form.

Jason Kokrak (+9000)

Kokrak disappointed a lot of bettors last week with a missed cut following a T-3 finish in the Tour’s return to play. He has struggled in 19 career rounds here, including missed cuts in each of the last two years, but he’s regained value at this price and excels in proximity to the pin from this week’s key approach distance of 150-175 yards.

Dylan Frittelli (+15000)

Frittelli grabbed attention Sunday while taking the early lead with a closing 62 before the leaders teed off. He has broken 70 just three times in his last 12 rounds, but the odds don’t reflect his most recent performance.

Doc Redman (+22500)

Redman ranks in the top 10 of the field in all three of SG: Ball Striking, Good Drives Gained and Proximity from 150-175 Yards on short courses with Bentgrass greens. The 22-year-old makes his debut at TPC River Highlands off of a T-21 finish last week.

2020 RBC Heritage Prop Bet Payday: Match Betting, Placing and FRL Odds and Picks

Analyzing prop bets for the 2020 RBC Heritage, with odds, picks and best bets for the best match betting and placing options.

The 2020 RBC Heritage takes place this week at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, S.C., with another loaded field. We’ve looked at the best bets and the top-30 fantasy rankings and below, we’ll look at the best prop bets for the RBC Heritage and make our picks.

2020 RBC Heritage: Matchup bets

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, June 17 at 7:55 a.m. ET.

Patrick Reed vs. Webb Simpson (-118)

Simpson has a better history at Harbour Town with a T-5 in 2018 and two other top 20s in the last three years, while Reed hasn’t played here since a missed cut in 2015. Simpson also ranks third in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting on Bermuda greens. He looks to bounce back from a missed cut last week.

Xander Schauffele vs. Collin Morikawa (+115)

Morikawa has good value at plus-money coming off a runner-up finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge. He makes his debut at Harbour Town, but that situation hasn’t been an issue for him yet as he remains without a missed cut as a professional.

Gary Woodland (-133) vs. Jordan Spieth

Spieth received a lot more camera time than Woodland last week. The reigning US Open champion finished alone in ninth place, while Spieth was part of a large group at T-10. Play it safe with the more reliable Woodland. Spieth won’t have the same room for error off the tee this week and Woodland ranks 14th in the field in SG: Off the Tee.

2020 RBC Heritage: Placing bets

Top 5: Sam Burns (+4500)

Burns finished alone in ninth at the 2019 RBC Heritage. He ranks fifth in this field in SG: Putting on Bermuda greens.

Top 10: Rory Sabbatini (+800)

Sabbatini was T-14 last week and he was T-10 here in 2019. He can avoid bogeys and will have plenty of scoring opportunities on the par 5s.

Lowest score Group D: Branden Grace (+400)

Grace’s lone PGA Tour victory to date came at the 2016 RBC Heritage. He returned to the European Tour’s winner’s circle for the ninth time at the South African Open in mid-January. He opened the Charles Schwab Challenge with three straight rounds of 66 before firing a Sunday 73 to finish T-19.

2020 RBC Heritage: Tournament specials

Leader after 1st round: Luke Donald (+10000)

Donald, a former world No. 1, had runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2017 while opening with a 65 and 66, respectively. He followed them up with a missed cut in 2018 and a T-33 in 2019, but he’s still among the best Bermuda putters in the field

Analyzing the golf betting odds to win the 2020 RBC Heritage, with PGA Tour betting odds, picks, predictions and best bets.

[jwplayer gGMM1XqT]

The 2020 RBC Heritage – which begins Thursday – comes on the heels of Daniel Berger’s resurgent playoff win over Collin Morikawa in the Charles Schwab Challenge last week as the PGA Tour resumed its 2019-20 schedule. Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, S.C., hosts another star-studded field including 114 PGA Tour winners. Below, we make our picks and best bets to win the RBC Heritage at BetMGM.

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Monday, June 15 at 12:25 p.m. ET.

Matt Kuchar (+4000)

Kuchar comes off a missed cut in the first tournament back, but he’s still 27th in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings. He tied for second in a strong field at the Genesis Invitational earlier this season.

Kuchar was the runner-up here a year ago and has two other top-10 finishes in his last five trips to Harbour Town. He’s eighth in this field in Strokes Gained: Putting on Bermuda greens over his career.

New to sports betting? A $10 on Kuchar to win the RBC Heritage returns a profit of $400.

Branden Grace (+5000)

Grace was right in the mix from Thursday-Saturday last week, as he opened the Charles Schwab Challenge with three straight rounds of 66. He fell down the leaderboard with a Sunday round of 73 to finish in a misleading tie for 19th.

The 2016 RBC Heritage champ tied for seventh in 2015 and 11th in 2017. He has gained 1.84 strokes per round on the field in 16 career rounds played here, according to Data Golf.

Viktor Hovland (+6600)

Hovland, the winner of the 2020 Puerto Rico Open earlier this year, tied for 23rd in his return to competitive golf. He’ll debut at Harbour Town at 38th in the Golfweek rankings looking for his first win in a full-field event. He’s 34th in this field in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee and 40th in Par 4 Efficiency: 400-450 Yards over everyone’s last 100 rounds, according to Fantasy National.

Bubba Watson (+6600)

Watson’s coming off a strong T-7 finish last week and remains a strong value play. He missed the cut in his lone career trip to Hilton Head, but he enters the week ranked third in the field in SG: Off-the-Tee over his last 100 rounds.

2020 RBC Heritage Betting Picks – Long shots

Feb 28, 2020; Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; Luke List lines up a putt at the Honda Classic at PGA National GC. (Photo Credit: Reinhold Matay – USA TODAY Sports)

Luke List (+10000)

List is coming off a victory in an irregularly strong field on the Korn Ferry Tour last week. The PGA Tour veteran finished sixth at last year’s PGA Championship, showing an ability to compete in strong fields against the world’s best. He’s seventh in the field in SG: Off-the-Tee and has gained 1.07 strokes per round in 15 rounds at Harbour Town.

Sam Burns (+20000)

Burns finished ninth here in 2019 while gaining 2.40 strokes per round on the field. He hasn’t played since a T-36 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but he ranks 12th in this field in SG: Putting on Bermuda over his career.

Charles Schwab Challenge Prop Bets: Group, Placing and Cut Odds and Picks

Previewing the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge, with PGA Tour prop bet odds, picks and predictions.

The 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge (June 11-14) signals the resumption of the 2019-20 PGA Tour schedule following a nearly three-month suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic. BetMGM is taking full advantage of the marquee event and loaded field with a bevy of prop bets. Below, we look at the best placing and group bets to make, along with picks for who will and won’t make the cut at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday, June 9 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Brooks Koepka Top 5: +550

Koepka returns to a course where he finished as the runner-up in 2018. Don’t fear the knee injury that plagued him earlier this calendar year.

Jason Day Top 5: +1100

Day is one of the best Bentgrass putters on Tour and the best in this field. He has had plenty of time to rest his troublesome back following a withdrawal from the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Jordan Spieth Top 10: +400

Spieth’s troubles over much of the past three years have been due to an erratic driver. Colonial measures just 7,209 yards, and he has remained an elite, and lucky, putter. He has four top 10s here in the last five years.

Kevin Kisner Top 10: +750

The 2017 champion missed the cut in 2019, but his familiarity with the venue and reliable putting stroke will prove beneficial following the long mid-season hiatus.

Justin Rose Top 20: +225

Rose, the 2018 champion, is the 10th-best player in the field by the Official World Golf Ranking. Better than a 2-to-1 return on your investment is great value.

Emiliano Grillo Top 20: +600

Grillo has a strong history at Colonial with a third-place finish in 2018 and a T-19 last year. He has gained 1.57 strokes per round across 16 career rounds, according to Data Golf, despite not being a particularly strong putter.

Charles Schwab Challenge: Group betting

Top American: Jordan Spieth (+2800)

Spieth shares just the 13th-best odds of American golfers in this week’s field. He’s the best putter of the bunch and a former champ.

Top continental European: Viktor Hovland (+600)

Hovland, hailing from Norway, trails world No. 2 Jon Rahm (+100) and Sergio Garcia (+550) in this grouping. Hovland is easily the best value as a 2020 winner, albeit in a much weaker field.

Top Australian: Jason Day (+275)

Day is the best Bentgrass putter in the field. He hasn’t played here in the last five years, but has averaged 1.30 strokes gained across 14 career rounds.

Lowest score Group C: Marc Leishman (+400)

Leishman shares the longest odds in this group, which includes Collin Morikawa (+330), Matt Kuchar (+400), Scottie Scheffler (+330) and Tony Finau (+330). While 2020 form isn’t overly pertinent following the long mid-season break, Leishman won the Farmers Insurance Open and finished second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Charles Schwab Challenge: To make the cut

Justin Rose: Yes (-167)

Rose is getting higher odds than he should to see the weekend as he returns to play following a horrible start to the 2020 calendar year. He has averaged 1.19 strokes gained at Colonial and won this event in 2018.

Ian Poulter: Yes (-134)

Poulter has played 22 career rounds at this venue, but has lost an average of 0.04 strokes per round to the field. His career experience can be trusted with the entire field in an unprecedented situation.

Joaquin Niemann: No (+115)

Niemann opened the 2019-20 PGA Tour season with a win at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier, but missed three straight cuts in stronger fields prior to the season being suspended. He’ll need to reprove himself against the world’s best.

Charles Schwab Challenge odds, predictions, picks and PGA Tour best bets

Analyzing the golf betting odds to win the 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge, with PGA Tour betting odds, picks, predictions and best bets.

The PGA Tour is back! The Charles Schwab Challenge will be the first tournament held since the cancelation of The Players Championship in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An expanded and star-studded field will be in attendance at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Below, we look at BetMGM‘s PGA Tour betting odds to win and make our Charles Schwab Challenge picks and best bets.

The first event to be held without fans permitted on the course will see four of the top five golfers in the Golfweek/Sagarin world ranking, including No. 1 Webb Simpson, try to hold off the competition in a more level field.

The key stats for the 7,209-yard, par-70 Colonial Country Club:

  • Strokes Gained: Ball Striking
  • Strokes Gained: Short Game
  • Birdies or Better Gained
  • Strokes Gained: Scrambling
  • Par 4 Efficiency: 400-450 Yards
  • Proximity from 125-150 Yards

My model at Fantasy National looks at the most recent 50 rounds for each golfer in the field on courses with Bentgrass greens. We’ll also weigh long-term putting performance more heavily this week than usual as a result of the extended midseason interruption.

Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Picks – Tier 1

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday, June 3 at 1 p.m. ET.

Jon Rahm (+1100)

Rahm, ranked fourth in the Golfweek world rankings, was in proper form as one of the best golfers in the world prior to the break. He has finishes of second, T-3, T-9 and 10th in five events in 2020.

He ranks 12th overall by my stat model over his last 50 rounds on Bentgrass greens. He’s seventh in the field in Ball Striking and fourth in Birdies or Better Gained. He missed the cut at Colonial last year, but he was T-5 in 2018 and T-2 in 2017. He offers adequate value when compared to Rory McIlroy (+700) as the tournament favorite.

Looking to place a bet on the Charles Schwab Challenge? Get some action on it at BetMGM. Bet Now!

Justin Rose (+5000)

Rose won this event in 2018 when it was known as the Fort Worth Invitational. His finish at 20-under par is the second-best winning score ever at Colonial.

The 22-time winner around the globe ranks second in the stat model. He was in poor form early this year, having missed the cut at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Honda Classic and the Farmers Insurance Open. He’s well worth backing at an inflated price following the Tour’s hiatus.

Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Picks – Tier 2

Jason Day (+6600)

As noted above, these first few weeks of tournament play will be a good time to trust putters. No one has been better than Day over their last 100 rounds on Bentgrass greens. He hasn’t won since doing so twice in 2018, but the extended break has helped him to rest his lingering injuries.

Kevin Kisner (+9000)

Kisner ranks third in the field in SG: Putting on Bentgrass greens. The 2017 champion of Colonial followed it up with a T-52 in 2018 and a missed cut last year, but he was T-10 in 2016 and T-5 in 2015. He has gained an average of 1.53 strokes per round in Fort Worth over 20 career rounds, according to Data Golf.

Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Picks – Long shots

Mar 8, 2020; Orlando, Florida, USA; Danny Lee looks over his putt on the eighth green during the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational golf tournament at Bay Hill Club & Lodge. (Photo Credit: Reinhold Matay – USA TODAY Sports)

Danny Lee (+12500)

Lee has just one PGA Tour win, but he’s a strong long-shot bet without fan pressure. He has been a steady performer at Colonial CC, making the cut in each of his last five visits with a sixth-place finish in 2017 and a T-10 in 2015. He has gained an average of 1.31 strokes per round across 28 rounds at this venue.

Emiliano Grillo (+15000)

Grillo made the cut in each of his last four trips to Fort Worth, finishing third in 2018 and T-19 last year. His 1.57 strokes gained per round at Colonial rank sixth in the field among those with a minimum of 10 rounds played. The break and the fan-less competition could serve him well as he looks for his first PGA Tour win since the 2015 Frys.com Open.

McIlroy/Johnson: -223 | Fowler/Wolff: +165

The outright odds to win the two-on-two match haven’t moved since opening a week ago. McIlroy and Johnson, the two higher-ranked golfers in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings, remain heavy favorites.

There isn’t a whole lot of value with the favorites as a $10 bet on McIlroy and Johnson to win the match will return a profit of just $4.48. The same bet on the underdogs would fetch a profit of $16.50, but it’s not enticing enough to warrant a wager.

Play it safe and back MCILROY/JOHNSON (-223) to win outright. Fill out your betting card with some of the best prop bets for a more profitable Sunday afternoon.

Driving Relief: Best prop bets and picks

Who will lead after 9 holes? Tie (+400)

Under the skins format, multiple holes can be won on a single stroke or putt should any number of preceding holes be halved (tied). Holes 1-6 will each be worth $50,000 with holes 7-15 worth $100,000, hole 17 worth $200,000 and hole 18 worth $500,000.

Chase the value of a 4-to-1 payout and look for the winnings to be split after the opening 9 holes. There’s a total of $600,000 up for grabs on the outbound nine with $1.3 million available on the back. The match won’t truly start until the turn.

Who will win the first hole? McIlroy/Johnson (+240)

The first hole at Seminole Golf Club is a 370-yard par 4. McIlroy and Johnson are the two longest hitters of the four involved in the match. Look for them to leave themselves short pitches into the green and for at least one to make an opening birdie.

McIlroy/Johnson to make an eagle: Yes (+280)

Driving Relief will be played under a Four-Ball (Best-Ball) format whereby the team’s score on the hole will be the lower of the two participants. As such, expect all four golfers to take their fair share of risks.

As noted above, McIlroy and Johnson are two of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour and can reach nearly all par 5s in two strokes. At nearly a 3-to-1 return for both golfers, place a bet on each of them. You’ll need to hit on only one to negate losses.

Each eagle is worth an additional $50,000 for charity, so the golfers will be well motivated.

The Match: Champions for Charity – Best bets for Woods-Manning vs. Mickelson-Brady

Looking at the betting odds and making our best bets for The Match: Champions for Charity between Tiger Woods-Peyton Manning and Phil Mickelson-Tom Brady.

[jwplayer kispF7XT]

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are going head-to-head once again in The Match: Champions for Charity Sunday, May 24, at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla. Woods will be joined by future Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning, while Mickelson teams up with Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady for a charity match raising money for COVID-19 relief efforts.

Below, we’ll look at the early betting lines for the first-of-its-kind golf event. The two teams will play the Four-Ball (Best Ball) format on the front nine. They’ll then switch to a modified alternate shot format for the back nine where each member of the twosomes will tee off with alternate shot being played from the best first shot.

Woods/Manning: -200 vs. Mickelson/Brady: +150

Woods and Manning open as fairly heavy favorites in the charity exhibition. Woods, the defending Masters champion, sits 16th in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings amid the PGA Tour’s pause due to the pandemic. Mickelson has slipped all the way to 222nd in the world ranking after missing the cut in four of his last six professional events.

Manning also holds an edge over Brady, playing to a handicap of 3.5 to Brady’s 8.

While Mickelson bested Woods one-on-one after four playoff holes the last time around in 2018 at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, NV, the favorites are the ones to back at Medalist. Woods is one of many PGA Tour pros who calls it his home course, and he’s pairing up with the better of the two amateurs.

Back WOODS/MANNING at -200. A $10 bet will return a profit of $5 with a win. There are sure to be more prop bets released in the build-up to the event, and we at SportsbookWire will have you covered.

How to Watch Driving Relief: McIlroy-Johnson vs. Fowler-Wolff odds and bets

Betting odds and picks for the TaylorMade Driving Relief skins match featuring Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson vs. Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff.

The PGA Tour will return, at least briefly, Sunday, May 17 for the TaylorMade Driving Relief skins match with Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson taking on Rickie Fowler and Matthew Wolff. The four golfers will compete in their teams of two at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla. in a charity match raising money and awareness for COVID-19 relief efforts.

Skins are a form of match play whereby the teams will be competing to win each hole and the prize money associated with it. If a hole is halved (tied) the prize money will carry over to the next hole. Multiple holes can be won or lost on a single stroke.

Driving Relief: Odds and best bet

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday, May 8 at 2:45 p.m. ET.

McIlroy/Johnson: -223 vs. Fowler/Wolff: +165

On paper, the teams are incredibly lopsided. McIlroy and Johnson combine for 38 career PGA Tour victories and five majors. Fowler and Wolff combine for just six PGA Tour wins, with Wolff’s first and only win to date coming at last year’s 3M Open.

McIlroy sits second in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings with Johnson ranked 10th. Fowler is 31st and Wolff is 87th.

The skins format helps level the playing field as a single good or bad hole can drastically flip the match. Even still, the odds aren’t quite enticing enough for Fowler and Wolff with a $10 bet returning a profit of $16.50. It’s better to back McIlroy and Johnson as favorites, with the same bet fetching a return of $4.50.

2020 Masters: Early odds, predictions, picks and PGA Tour best bets

Analyzing the golf betting odds to win the 2020 Masters, with PGA Tour betting odds, picks, predictions and best bets.

The 2020 Masters Tournament will take place Nov. 12-15 under the PGA Tour’s revised 2020 schedule. Below, we break down the 2020 Masters betting odds, with PGA Tour predictions, picks and best bets.

Augusta National Golf Club measures 7,475 yards and plays to a par of 72. The 2020 field has been set at 96 golfers. Anyone who wins an event between mid-June and the 2020 tournament will then qualify for the 2021 Masters to be played next April.

2020 Masters Betting Picks – Tier 1

Odds provided by BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Monday, April 20 at 3 p.m. ET.

Justin Thomas (+1400)

Thomas, the 2017 PGA Championship winner, tied for 12th at last year’s Masters for his best result in four appearances. He made the cut in all four career tries at Augusta. Of his 12 career PGA Tour wins, eight have come between August and December. He won twice in 2019, at the BMW Championship and CJ Cup, and he won the 2020 Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Thomas is one of the best-rounded golfers on Tour, and he ranked fifth with 1.958 total strokes gained per round on the 2019-20 season before the season was put on hold.

Tommy Fleetwood (+2800)

Fleetwood has runner-up results at both the US Open (2018) and Open Championship (2019), but a top showing of just T-17 at the 2018 Masters. A five-time winner on the European Tour, he ranks sixth in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings. His putter has often kept him out of the winner’s circle, but he has one of the best approach games in the world.

2020 Masters Betting Picks – Tier 2

Lee Westwood (+8000)

The soon-to-be 47-year-old Westwood was becoming a popular pick for an April Masters before play was put on pause. The midseason stoppage has allowed for his odds to become more profitable again and will return $800 on a $10 bet.

He earned his 41st career victory at the European Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship in January, and he tied for fourth at The Honda Classic in early March.

Sergio Garcia (+8000)

The 2017 Masters champ has missed the cut each of the last two years at Augusta and in seven of his last nine majors. He was returning to better form early in 2020, however, as he had two top 10s on the European Tour before a T-37 showing at The Genesis Invitational.

2020 Masters Betting Picks – Long shots

Danny Willett (+12500)

It was Willett who dressed Garcia in his green jacket as the 2016 Masters champion. Willett has missed the cut each of the past three years, but he tied for sixth at last year’s Open Championship. He won on the European Tour each of the last two years, most recently winning the BMW PGA Championship in September, besting a field including Jon Rahm and Patrick Reed.

Corey Conners (+17500)

Conners is my favorite long-shot bet due to his incredibly strong tee-to-green and approach games. Like Fleetwood, he struggles with the putter, but he’s able to give himself good looks and needs to get hot for only four days. He tied for 46th in his debut last year after gaining a late entry with his win at the Valero Texas Open.
