Four-star tight end picks Notre Dame

Nice get.

Notre Dame has developed a reputation in recent years as the landing spot for many quality tight ends. Our own Nick Shepkowski has taken to giving Notre Dame the moniker of “Tight End U.” Well, he’ll able to keep calling it that for the foreseeable future.

Many experts are high on [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag], and the 2025 four-star recruit from Washington, Oklahoma, picked the Irish during a live announcement on 247Sports’ YouTube channel:

Roberts, Oklahoma’s No. 2 recruit and the nation’s No. 3 tight end in the 2025 class, appropriately received his offer from the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day and was getting offers as recently as June 6. [autotag]Gerad Parker[/autotag] and [autotag]Marty Biagi[/autotag] led the charge in recruiting him, and this definitely is a big win for them. He’s comparable in size to [autotag]Michael Mayer[/autotag] and could very well catch up in at least that department by the time his collegiate career begins. Maybe the Irish should start the process of trademarking “Tight End U”?

Notre Dame receiver target Micah Gilbert announces commitment date

Here’s hoping the crystal ball isn’t lying.

[autotag]Cam Williams[/autotag] is one of the biggest receiver recruits Notre Dame has landed in recent years. But so far, he’s the Irish’s only pure receiver commit in the the 2024 recruiting class. That might change next week as receiver target Micah Gilbert has announced May 2 as the day he will make his college decision. The announcement will take place live on the 247Sports YouTube channel.

All signs point to Gilbert a Charlotte, North Carolina native, picking Notre Dame after he was recruited by [autotag]Gerad Parker[/autotag] and [autotag]Chansi Stuckey[/autotag]. Duke and North Carolina figure to be the biggest threat to the Irish, though that also could be because he’s from Charlotte. The other schools in the mix for the four-star recruit are South Carolina, Michigan, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.

Gilbert would be a perfect complimentary piece to Williams, and here’s hoping he feels the same way. We all will find out the answer to that question really soon.

Gerad Parker poaches a Notre Dame staffer to Troy

The Irish see a staffer follow Parker to Troy

It should come as no surprise that former Notre Dame offensive coordinator [autotag]Gerad Parker[/autotag] is looking back to his former employer for help.

It was a blessing in disguise when he took the Troy head coaching job, opening the door for Mike Denbrock to return to South Bend after a stint at LSU. Parker may not have any hard feeling, but he did see the potential in recruiting analyst [autotag]Caleb Davis[/autotag].

Pete Nakos of On3 is reporting that Parker will hire Davis away from Notre Dame and name him Troy’s Director of Player Personnel. It’s a blow to the Irish recruiting efforts, as many saw Davis as a star in the making.

It’s obviously a loss for Notre Dame, but as we have seen Marcus Freeman operate, he will find a more than adequate replacement for Davis.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator candidate: Kirby Moore

Will Notre Dame’s offense be Kirby’s dream land?

Rather unexpectedly, at least by those that watched Notre Dame’s offense up close in 2023, Fighting Irish offensive coordinator Gerad Parker has taken the head coach job at Troy.

Him doing so leaves a vacancy for Notre Dame at offensive coordinator yet again as the Irish will spend part of the off-season searching for a new play caller.  This is the third time in four off-seasons that Notre Dame has had to conduct such a search.

Here at Fighting Irish Wire we will be researching any and all of the names that get rumored or linked to the opening to arm you with the best information on each candidate.

A hot name in coaching circles is Kirby Moore, the current offensive coordinator at Missouri.  What makes Moore such an intriguing candidate?

Here’s what you need to know about the man currently calling plays for Elijah Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers:

Notre Dame football: 11 offensive coordinators candidates to replace Gerad Parker

Who do you want to be Notre Dame’s next offensive coordinator?

Paint it any way you want it, but Notre Dame football landed great news on Monday.  Offensive coordinator Gerad Parker was named Troy’s new head coach.

No, it’s not ideal that Notre Dame will now be on their third offensive play caller in the past four seasons, but its a spot the Irish coaching staff could upgrade and now they’re forced to.

Reports are out from various outlets that Marcus Freeman has his eyes on a certain external candidate.  Who exactly that is may be remains to be seen.  And just because Freeman may have his eye on someone doesn’t mean that its all a race for one guy.

So who are some names to keep an eye on in regards to Notre Dame’s next offensive coordinator?  We’ve compiled 11.

Notre Dame football: Marcus Freeman statement on Gerad Parker

Freeman has spoken.

Some truly shocking news came down Monday for Notre Dame football as offensive coordinator Gerad Parker is gone, headed to Troy to become their head coach.

Parker was at Notre Dame for two seasons.  2022 saw him coach the tight ends before he was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2023.  This 2023 season had some highs and lows.

We here at Fighting Irish Wire will have plenty on the search for Notre Dame’s next offensive coordinator.  Whoever the next one is will be the fourth in as many years for the Fighting Irish.

In the meantime, Marcus Freeman released a statement on Parker taking the Troy job.  Check it out below:

Stay tuned to Fighting Irish Wire as the search for Notre Dame’s next offensive coordinator gets underway.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Gerard Parker reportedly leaving for head coaching job

Well this is an interesting development for the Irish

As the early signing period is almost upon us, starting tomorrow, Notre Dame football might be needing to find a new offensive coordinator.

[autotag]Gerad Parker[/autotag] had been elevated to the position last year when Tommy Rees left for Alabama, and now, head coach Marcus Freeman may be having to find another play caller for his offense for the second year in-a-row.

According to this report from Chris Vannini of The Athletic, Parker is expected to be named the head coach at Troy. It’s a surprising move given the timing with the signing period, but it seemed like after this season that Freeman may have made a mistake elevating Parker to the position.

Stay tuned to FightingIrish Wire for the latest updates on this developing situation.

Notre Dame’s leading receiver is entering the transfer portal

Farewell, Chris.

With the regular season in the books, the dominoes regarding the transfer portal are starting to fall. Notre Dame already is losing defensive end Nana Osafo-Mensah to the portal. Now, the Irish can add Chris Tyree to the list after he made the announcement on Instagram:

Tyree converted from running back to receiver during the past year and made the most of it. He finished the regular season as the Irish’s top receiver with 484 yards on 26 receptions, three of them going for touchdowns. He also has the Irish’s only punt return for a touchdown this season.

While we obviously wish Tyree the best moving forward, the Irish’s receiving corps just took another hit ahead of their bowl game. [autotag]Mitchell Evans[/autotag], the tight end right behind Tyree on the receiving chart, is out for the season with an injury. That leaves [autotag]Rico Flores[/autotag] as the top remaining receiver with 392 yards on 27 receptions and one touchdown. Best of luck to [autotag]Gerad Parker[/autotag] in planning for the final game of the season.

Notre Dame football: Thoughts following the disappointing Clemson loss

What still is bothering you about the Irish’s loss to Clemson?

[autotag]Notre Dame football[/autotag] didn’t expect to be in this situation today, but after it’s devastating loss on the road to Clemson 31-23.

The Irish fell in both polls, but that is the least of their current problems. Although they are still ranked, it’s not the ideal spot to be in and that will reflect when the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag] rankings are updated on Tuesday.

It wouldn’t shock me to see the Irish not being ranked there, as they didn’t look like one of the top 25 teams in the country on Saturday.

Like every Sunday, I have plenty of thought’s following Notre Dame’s performance and here they are.

USC, Oklahoma and Notre Dame are likely to fire their failing coordinators

The inconvenient truth: USC, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame are basically in the same place.

Alex Grinch is toast at USC after the Trojans allowed 52 points to Washington and fell out of the Pac-12 title chase. Yet, he’s not the only coordinator likely to be fired in the coming weeks.

Jeff Lebby is under fire at Oklahoma after a very poor performance against Oklahoma State in the Bedlam game, which means everything to the people in the state of Oklahoma.

Notre Dame offensive coordinator Gerad Parker is as good as gone after the Fighting Irish’s offense flopped again in a loss to Dabo Swinney and Clemson.

Fans at USC, Oklahoma and Notre Dame would all love to be able to laugh at the other, but the plain truth is they’re all in the same boat, and no one has real leverage over and against the other.

Let’s look at the reactions at all three schools, among all three fan bases, to the failures of their coordinators:
