Miami at Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Miami 38, Georgia Tech 17

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on Miami (-375) to remain undefeated Saturday.

Against the spread

BET MIAMI -10.5 (-110).

Miami has covered the spread in 2 of its last 3 games and 3 of its 4 on the road.

Georgia Tech has failed to cover in 3 of its last 4 games and each of its last 4 as an underdog of 9.5 or more points. Its offense has scored 19 points combined in its last 2 games and will not be able to keep up with the Hurricanes.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 63.5 (-110).

While Miami has a strong offense, Georgia Tech does not. It has hit the Under in 4 of its last 5 games, including 2 straight. It has scored 19 points or fewer in 3 of its last 5 games and will be unable to hold up its side of the total.

Notre Dame at Georgia Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Notre Dame at Georgia Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (5-2) welcome the No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (5-1) to Mercedez-Benz Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Notre Dame is No. 11 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. It is coming off a 49-7 home win over the Stanford Cardinal, closing as a 22.5-point favorite. The Fighting Irish have rattled off 4 straight wins with their most impressive being a 31-24 home win over the Louisville Cardinals, where they closed as a 6.5-point favorite. The Fighting Irish’s lone loss was a 16-14 home defeat to Northern Illinois.

Georgia Tech opened its season with a stunning 24-21 neutral-field win over the Florida State Seminoles. Since that battle, they have signature wins by 10 over Duke and by 7 over North Carolina but have lost to Louisville and Syracuse. Both of those games were on the road. The Yellow Jackets are 3-0 at home and 2-0-1 against the spread (ATS) in those games. Their defense has struggled over the last few weeks, allowing 30-plus points in 2 of their last 3 games.

Notre Dame at Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 27, Georgia Tech 20

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no good value on the moneyline. The Fighting Irish are too sizable of a favorite to take here, and they are playing too well to assume the Yellow Jackets can pull off the upset. Look to the spread for value.

Against the spread

BET GEORGIA TECH +14 (-115).

The Yellow Jackets have exceeded expectations, both throughout the season, and more specifically at home. They are undefeated at home and have yet to not cover a spread. Georgia Tech has not been a home underdog this season and is 1-1 ATS as an underdog overall. It has won 2 straight ACC games and put up 65 points in those.

Notre Dame has won consistently, but it hasn’t played on the road since Week 3. It is 1-2 ATS in games where it has closed as a double-digit favorite as well. Considering those trends, take GEORGIA TECH +14 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 49.5 (-110).

The Notre Dame defense is a strong unit, having allowed single digits in 3 of its last 4 games. The Fighting Irish have gone Under in 2 of 3 games they were double-digit favorites and have given up just 26 points in those games combined.

Georgia Tech has had a similar story. It has allowed 21 or fewer in 4 of 7 games and is 2-5 O/U on the season. The Yellow Jackets are 0-2 O/U as an underdog and 1-2 O/U at home. With that in mind, play UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Duke at Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia Tech 24, Duke 20

Against the spread

BET DUKE +9.5 (-105).

Duke mounted a 21-0 run last week to come back and beat UNC and has not lost a game this season. It has covered the spread in 3 of its last 4 games including both games this season as an underdog. It has also scored 26 points or more in 4 of its 5 games. Georgia Tech has failed to cover the spread in 2 of its last 3 weeks and has allowed 31 points in each of those 2 games.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 53.5 (-115).

The Yellow Jackets have hit the Under in 4 of their 5 games this season while scoring 28 or fewer points in 3 of their 5 games. The Blue Devils have failed to hit the Over in 2 of their last 3 weeks and have allowed 21 or fewer points in each game this season.

Georgia Tech at Louisville odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia Tech at Louisville odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-1, 1-1 ACC) travel to meet the Louisville Cardinals (2-0, 0-0) Saturday at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Georgia Tech vs. Louisville odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Yellow Jackets suffered their first loss of the season, 31-28, in a road trip to Syracuse Sept. 7 in their 2nd conference game. Georgia Tech rebounded with a 59-7 win over VMI as a 44-point favorite as the Over (53) cashed for the 1st time in 4 tries. The Under is 3-0 in 3 games against FBS opponents, including 2-0 in 2 off-campus games.

The Cardinals have pierced the top-25 rankings with a pair of layup wins over FCS Austin Peay and Jacksonville State. Louisville had a bye last weekend. It has outscored the opposition 111-14 in 2 games, while the Over has cashed in each outing.

Louisville is No. 20 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, conducted by the American Football Coaches Association and USA TODAY Sports

Georgia Tech at Louisville picks and predictions

Prediction

Louisville 34, Georgia Tech 27

Moneyline

Louisville (-400) will set you back 4 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk for not enough reward on a standalone bet. Over the long term, betting such large favorites is not a recommended wagering strategy.

Including the Cardinals in a multi-leg parlay isn’t a good idea, either, as they’ll suck all of the value out of your ticket.

PASS.

Against the spread

Back GEORGIA TECH +10.5 (-115), as this is an awful lot of points for a conference battle.

Yes, Louisville -10.5 (-105) has been impressive to date, but who has it really played? An FCS team and a Sun Belt team is not exactly a murderers’ row of foes. Georgia Tech is battle tested, having gone overseas for the upset win of Florida State, while going to Syracuse for an early conference test, albeit a narrow loss.

The Yellow Jackets might not win here, but they’ll put up a very good fight, and they should keep it within a single score.

Over/Under

OVER 57.5 (-115) is a strong play. In previous years, Georgia Tech ran the triple-option, and if it were to fall behind as an underdog, it would have difficulty getting back in the game due to a lack of passing. That’s no longer a problem, as the Paul Johnson era is in the rear-view mirror, and the Jackets are in the 21st century. Georgia Tech has a dual threat under center in QB Haynes King, capable of slinging it.

Louisville has cashed the Over in each of its 2 games, racking up 111 points in the 2 wins, but it has come against underwhelming opponents. The concern here is how the Cardinals respond against an actual Power 4 defense. We should still get a game into the 60s, though.

Georgia Tech at Syracuse odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia Tech at Syracuse odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-0, 1-0 ACC) and Syracuse Orange (1-0) meet at JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (ACC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Georgia Tech vs. Syracuse odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Yellow Jackets shook up the college football world with a 24-21 upset at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland, over then-No. 10 Florida State. It cashed as a 10-point underdog that day, and it rolled to a 35-12 win over Georgia State last week at home in the 1st-ever meeting between the Atlanta schools.

The Ramblin’ Wreck covered as 20.5-point favorites, and the Under (54.5) cashed for the 2nd time in as many games. QB Haynes King was very efficient, going 24-of-29 for 275 yards, 2 TD and 1 INT against the Panthers.

Syracuse picked up a 38-22 win over the Ohio Bobcats, just narrowly missing the cover as 17-point favorites. Former Ohio State QB Kyle McCord was outstanding, throwing for 354 yards and 4 TDs in the win.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Georgia Tech at Syracuse picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia Tech 31, Syracuse 24

Moneyline

GEORGIA TECH (-137) isn’t priced out of line, if you’re a little more on the conservative side, and you don’t want to fiddle around with the points in this ACC road game.

The only concern with backing the Yellow Jackets is fatigue. In the past 2 weeks they’ve been across the ocean, back to Atlanta, and now to Upstate New York. That’s a lot of travel in a short span.

Against the spread

Back GEORGIA TECH -2.5 (-118) laying the little bit of points, if you’re a more traditional bettor.

While the fatigue factor is certainly as issue, as the Yellow Jackets have been racking up a lot of Delta frequent flyer miles lately, they should be able to take care of the Orange.

Syracuse +2.5 (-104) was impressive against Ohio offensively, yes, but it should have trouble moving against a better Ga. Tech team. And, the Orange were squeezed for 22 points by an Ohio team which is expected to be middle of the pack in the MAC this season.

Over/Under

The UNDER 61.5 (-114) is the strongest play in this ACC battle.

The Yellow Jackets have cashed the Under in each of their 2 games to date, and the defense should be able to throw a blanket over McCord’s receivers, not allowing him the freedom to do the things he did with ease a week ago against the Bobcats.

The Orange will likely have some issues trying to shut down King, but he can be his own worst enemy sometimes, committing turnovers in key moments. That’s what we’re banking on here.

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Florida State vs. Georgia Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida State Seminoles battle the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic Saturday. Kickoff from Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Germany is scheduled for noon ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Florida State vs. Georgia Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Florida State finished 13-1 last season, including 8-0 in the ACC. After beating Louisville to win the ACC Championship, the Seminoles ultimately lost to Georgia in the Orange Bowl. It came as a shock to many for the undefeated Seminoles to miss the College Football Playoff, even with QB Jordan Travis, who is now with the New York Jets, sidelined with an injury.

Georgia Tech finished 7-6 overall, including 5-3 in the ACC last season, good for 4th in the conference. The Yellow Jackets defense was problematic last season, giving up 31 or more points on 7 different occasions. It will need to set a new tone this season to stay competitive.

Florida State is No. 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Florida State vs. Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Flordia State 31, Georgia Tech 17

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on No. 10 Florida State to win Saturday.

Against the spread

BET FLORIDA STATE -10.5 (-115).

While Travis left for the NFL, the Seminoles will see senior QB DJ Uiagalelei captain the offense. With experience and talent behind center, expect Florida State to get up big and never look back. WR Malik Benson will create problems for the Georgia Tech defense, while the GT offense will not be able to keep up.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 55.5 (-110).

While Florida State is expected to produce a lot of points, the toll travel will take on both sides should not be underestimated. With the first game of the season, players are seeing their first action since last year, and while it could lead to more offense, it will also lead to more missed opportunities.

The North Carolina Tar Heels (6-1, 3-1, ACC) and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-2) tangle Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET (ACC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the North Carolina vs. Georgia Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

North Carolina is No. 17 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. The Tar Heels are coming off their 1st loss of the season, 31-27 last Saturday to the 24-point underdog Virginia Cavaliers. UNC will not only look to bounce back from that stunning upset but from a 21-17 loss to these Yellow Jackets last Nov. 19 as a 22-point favorite.

Georgia Tech lost to Boston College 38-23 last Saturday as a 6-point home favorite. The Yellow Jackets were undone by allowing the Eagles to rush for 308 yards. GTU has yielded 227.7 yards per game on the ground to rank 132nd in FBS.

North Carolina at Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

North Carolina 38, Georgia Tech 17

Moneyline

The true odds — as usual in double-digit-lined games — likely … very likely … lie between these tags. PASS.

Against the spread

North Carolina is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games. The Tar Heels are 4-1 over their last 5 games when lined as a double-digit favorite (3-1 ATS in their last 4 such games on the road). Georgia Tech is 2-12 ATS in its last 14 home games.

UNC has a diversified offense that stays on schedule while producing explosive plays. The Tar Heels have been below-average in turning quality drives into points (73.1% red-zone scoring ranks 11th in ACC). With this group, that’s a growth area, perhaps especially against a GTU defense that yields quite a few marches across the midfield stripe.

Look for a North Carolina offense that went 4-for-15 on 3rd and 4th downs last week to get back on top of things. Peg the ground-bound Yellow Jackets as a squad not built for a comeback.

TAKE NORTH CAROLINA -11.5 (-110).

Over/Under

This match-up has just a sliver of an Under lean. On a full slate of games, account log-ins are better spent elsewhere. PASS.

Miami’s offense has been superb so far this season to compliment a stellar  defense. The U should exploit the Yellow Jackets defense, which ranks 108th in the country allowing 35 PPG. For Georgia Tech to have any shot in this game, they’ll have to pressure Miami QB Tyler Van Dyke all night. One of the lone bright spots so far in their defense has been the fact they’ve sacked the QB on 8.8% of drop backs, which does rank top 25 in the nation.

The U should remain consistent and exploit their dynamic playmakers and mismatches across the board. But Miami -1600 is not worth the return, perhaps it might be worth a look for your parlay.

Against the spread

While I expect Miami to roll, don’t expect this game to be as straightforward as it seems. Yellow Jackets coach Brent Key recently demoted his defensive coordinator and promoted Kevin Sherrerwho joined team in January. This new-look defense very well can cause confusion to Miami’s offensive line. Still, the U will exploit their players’ athletic advantage and burst out a handful of big plays. While we lean toward Miami -20.5 (-105), best to STAY AWAY.

Over/Under

Georgia Tech has obviously underperformed so far in 2023. However, one can see strides being made, as they only lost to 25th-ranked Louisville by 1 score. Georgia Tech has won 3 of their last 5 and you should expect some fight from them. However, Miami’s offense is simply too balanced and this game has the potential to be a shootout, particularly in the 2nd half.

Go with OVER 57.5 (-110).

Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Georgia Tech vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Rebels beat Mercer 73-7 to open the season and then beat Tulane 37-20 in Week 2, respectively covering as a 35-point and 13.5-point favorite. Ole Miss is led by QB Jaxson Dart, who has 6 TDs and 1 INT in the 2 games with a 70% completion rate on 50 attempts. Ole Miss is No. 19 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Georgie Tech opened up the season with a neutral field battle against Louisville, losing 39-34 yet covering as a 7-point underdog. The Yellow Jackets then returned home and beat South Carolina State 48-13, failing to cover as a 45-point favorite. QB Haynes King has led the Yellow Jackets and has 7 passing TDs in 2 games. Georgia Tech at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 38, Georgia Tech 28

Moneyline

PASS.

Move along; there’s no value here. Do not put Ole Miss in your moneyline parlay either.

Against the spread

BET GEORGIA TECH +17.5 (-110).

The Yellow Jackets haven’t look great at all points of the season, but they have looked good enough. King has just 1 INT on the season and threw for 3 TDs against Louisville. They stuck in that game despite being away from home. Georgia Tech has looked better than expected.

Ole Miss beat Tulane 37-20 and Mercer 73-7; however, Tulane had its backup QB in and the Rebels were down at the half. They used a 20-point 4th quarter to win by 17, but they ultimately struggled for most of that win.

Considering those trends against each team’s most competitive opponent, back GEORGIA TECH +17.5 (-110) as they should be able to keep things within this spread.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 63.5 (-115).

Georgia Tech ranks 14th in the nation in yards per play at 6.9, and Ole Miss sits 63rd in that category. Both teams like to push the tempo, one reason the Over between the 2 sides is a combined 3-1.

Ole Miss has scored at least 37 points in each game as well, so Dart has the offense rolling. Expect the game to be at a fast pace and points to be scored. Take OVER 63.5 (-115).

Louisville at Georgia Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Louisville at Georgia Tech odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets welcome the Louisville Cardinals to Mercedes-Benz Stadium Friday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Louisville vs. Georgia Tech odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Yellow Jackets went 5-7 overall last season and 4-4 in conference play, but that marked an improvement on 3 consecutive seasons with 3 wins. Georgia Tech enters 2023 the interim title removed from head coach Brent Key who took over midseason for Geoff Collins last year. QB Zach Pyron is expected to start under center; the freshman played in 3 games last season, throwing 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

The Cardinals ended last season with an 8-5 record and went 4-4 in conference play. Former head coach Scott Satterfield left in the offseason for Cincinnati after 4 years with the program and is replaced by Jeff Brohm who joins off 6 years with Purdue.

A familiar face for Brohm will be under center to start the year as senior transfer QB Jack Plummer will lead the way. Plummer spent 3 years at Purdue before transferring to California. He started for California in 2022 and threw 21 touchdowns with 9 interceptions in 12 games. Five transfers will start on the offensive for a revamped Cardinals roster.

Louisville at Georgia Tech picks and predictions

Prediction

Louisville 28, Georgia Tech 17

Moneyline

PASS.

The value to back the Cardinals (-300) just isn’t there as you would need to risk 3 times your potential return. However, the Yellow Jackets (+240) and Pyron are more inexperienced and likely won’t pull off the upset.

Against the spread

BET LOUISVILLE -7.5 (-110).

The difference is the quarterbacks and experience. Louisville added a quarterback with 3 years of experience in the Big Ten and also experience as a starter while bringing in 4 other transfer starters on its offense. That’s an impressive haul of new weapons.

Pyron wasn’t as impressive during his few appearances last season. Georgia Tech was just 6-6 ATS last season while Louisville was 8-5 ATS. The Cardinals have an improved roster and should dominate this game.

Back LOUISVILLE -7.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 49.5 (-110).

Georgia Tech and Louisville both have new coaches and quarterbacks who will be starting in their programs consistently for the first time. That could result in sloppy offense.

Last season, the Yellow Jackets went 4-7-1 O/U while Louisville was 4-9 O/U.
