Watch: Dan Mullen makes it clear who he’s cheering for between Georgia and Auburn

When Florida Gators HC Dan Mullen was asked about Georgia football’s game vs Auburn, he made it clear who he was cheering for.

Following Florida’s win over Missouri on Saturday, the Gators will have their eyes glued to CBS to watch Georgia take on Auburn.

If Georgia wins, it secures a spot in the SEC Championship. A loss and Georgia will have to beat Texas A&M to make it in.

Florida’s game today was its final SEC matchup of the season. So if Georgia happens to lose to the Tigers and Aggies, the Gators are headed to Atlanta.

When Mullen was asked by CBS for his thoughts on the Georgia vs Auburn game, he made it clear who he was cheering for.

“War Eagle,” Mullen said.

The SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum picked his winner of the Georgia vs Auburn game on Saturday.

“I like the Dawgs,” he said. “I think the Dawgs have been a sneaky good team this year, other than that loss to South Carolina. I think Auburn will lose a close game at home.”

Georgia has won the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry in the last two meetings. However, the last time the Bulldogs traveled to Auburn, Georgia was outplayed, out-coached and just did not look prepared for the atmosphere on the Plains.

For Auburn, the Tigers pretty much dictate how the rest of the college football season plays out. Georgia football announced its captains for the UGA vs Auburn game on Saturday.

Georgia football takes on Auburn this Saturday in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, a game that the Bulldogs must win to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive.

On Friday ahead of the big game, Georgia announced its captains for the matchup.

Wearing the patch on Saturday will be running back D’Andre Swift, quarterback Jake Fromm and safety J.R. Reed.

This season, these three have been three of the biggest keys to the success of the 8-1 Bulldogs.

Fromm has guided No. 4 ranked Georgia all season, throwing for 1,858 yards, completing  67% of his passes, tossing 13 touchdowns and giving up just three interceptions.

Swift is closing in on the 1,000 yard marker through nine games and is currently at 921, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.

And on the other side of the ball it’s been Reed who has come up with numerous big plays to help turn Georgia’s defense into arguably the best in college football.

They will all have their hands full playing on the road in a hostile environment this Saturday, though.

They have already proven that they control their own destiny, winning three straight SEC East games following an overtime loss to South Carolina.

Many counted Georgia out, saying its season was over with that loss, but the Dawgs kept barking and scrapped their way back into the top 4 and in perfect position to make a trip to the SEC Championship, likely against LSU.

But first, Georgia’s focus is on Auburn. A win, and the Dawgs not only secure a trip back to Atlanta, but can start thinking College Football Playoff – though Kirby Smart would never admit that.

Nick Chubb is the first NFL RB to reach 1,000 yards in 2019

Georgia football great Nick Chubb, of the Cleveland Browns, is the first NFL running back of 2019 to reach the 1,000 yard stat.

Georgia football great Nick Chubb went over the 1,000 yard marker on Thursday night as the Cleveland Browns took down the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chubb toted the rock 27 times and racked up 92 yards, putting him at 1,011 yards on the season and making him the first NFL running back of 2019 to reach that milestone.

Currently, he leads Minnesota Vikings back Dalvin Cook – the older brother of Georgia’s James Cook – by 20 yards and is tied for fifth in yards per carry with an average of 5.0 (Lamar Jackson is first with an average of 6.6 YPC).

Last year, Chubb finished his rookie season with 996 yards on 192 carries. He briefly was sitting on the other side of 1,000 before his final few carries saw him lose yards, bringing him back down 996.

Through ten games this season, Chubb has already amassed his total carries from last season and is currently sitting at 201, the second highest in the NFL behind Cook’s 203.

Here’s what the Auburn media is saying about Georgia football ahead of the UGA vs AU game.

With No. 4 Georgia traveling to No. 12 Auburn to partake in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry, the whole nation will have their eyes on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.

For Georgia, there’s so much riding on this game. A win not only secures the Dawgs a spot in the SEC Championship but it keeps their College Football Playoff hopes alive before they’d square off against Texas A&M, Tech and LSU.

A loss, and Georgia can kiss the Playoff goodbye and will put even more pressure on them the next weekend vs the Aggies if they wish to secure their spot in the SEC Championship.

Auburn is no joke and should not be taken lightly. The Tigers have arguably the best defensive front in the nation, meanwhile Georgia’s offensive line will put up as a good of a fight as Auburn has seen this season.

Georgia football has the most NFL players nominated for sportsmanship award

The NFL recognized four former UGA football players on Thursday, the most of any other program.

Recently, the NFL announced the nominees for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, and four former Georgia football players made the cut.

Among the finalists were former Dawgs Nick Chubb (Browns), Matthew Stafford (Lions), Thomas Davis (Chargers), and Ben Jones (Titans). The award considers a players sportsmanship to opponents on the field as well as things like community service and impact.

The Dawgs had far and away the most candidates of any single college. In fact, the only other school that had multiple finalists was Alabama, as former players Julio Jones and Dalvin Tomlinson were finalists.

This recognition further proves the unparalleled level of activism and community reach that has been and continues to be preached in the Georgia program. Congrats to these Dawgs!
