Browns TE David Njoku reveals he burned 17 percent of his body in accident

Cleveland Browns tight end suffered burns on over 17% of his body after bonfire incident in September.

In an Instagram announcement David Njoku released with the Cleveland Browns, he detailed the painful September night that left him with severe burns on over 17 percent of his body. The tight end stated he was hosting a bonfire and used a spray to soak the logs. Particles from the spray remained in the air around the bonfire when Njoku tried to start the fire, setting the tight end ablaze.

“I saw the fire come up from my wrist and blow up in my face,” Njoku revealed. Dr. Joseph Khouri of University Hospitals treated Njoku the following morning when Njoku informed the team of his burns. Khouri stated, “I diagnosed it as about a 17-18 percent total body surface area burn of second-degree partial thickness.”

Khouri recommended Njoku sit out against the Ravens, but Njoku declined the medical advice describing games against the Ravens as “personal.”  Njoku had six receptions for 48 yards against the rivals. He proved to be a reliable safety blanket for rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson who made his NFL debut.

David Njoku is partnering with the American Burn Association for the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats program. On Sunday, Njoku will wear a pair of purple and green cleats adorned with the Association’s name and a picture of Njoku wearing his mask during player walk-ins.

Kareem Hunt will test thigh pregame to decide fate for Browns vs. Colts

The Browns and Colts are set to square off, but they might have to do so without running back Kareem Hunt

The Cleveland Browns have several players who are questionable to play in their Week 7 game against the Indianapolis Colts, including quarterback Deshaun Watson. However, while Watson is expected to play after practicing in full on Friday, running back Kareem Hunt is not quite in the same boat.

After missing practice on Wednesday, and then practicing on a limited basis on both Thursday and Friday with a thigh injury, Hunt is listed as questionable for the game. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Hunt is expected to test the thigh out pre-game before the team and the back make the final call on whether or not he will suit up.

If Hunt cannot go, expect a bigger workload for Jerome Ford, and for Pierre Strong Jr. to see a slight uptick in carries as well. The Browns also just signed running back Deon Jackson off of the practice squad on Saturday as well.

Browns sign Deon Jackson to active roster, promote 2 from practice squad vs. Colts

The Browns have made three moves as they get set to take on the Colts

The Cleveland Browns have made a few roster moves as they get set to take on the Indianapolis Colts tomorrow. After placing guard Michael Dunn on Injured Reserve, the Browns opened up a roster spot to fill. And while many thought that would be the signing of P.J. Walker, the Browns have instead signed running back Deon Jackson to the active roster from the practice squad.

Kareem Hunt entered this week hobbled with a thigh injury, and has a questionable gameday designation. With the signing of Jackson to the active roster, there is reason to wonder whether or not Hunt will play in this game against the Colts. Jackson becomes the fourth running back on the roster behind Hunt, Jerome Ford, and Pierre Strong.

The Browns then made their two gameday elevations from the practice squad. Here are the three roster moves the Browns made today, and one move they still have to make.

Deshaun Watson takes all of first team reps on Friday as Browns prepare for Colts

It looks like the Browns might have their starting quarterback back against the Colts as Deshaun Watson takes all of the first team snaps

The Cleveland Browns got their quarterback back to practice on Thursday after three weeks away. And now on Friday, the last practice before the Browns travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts, Watson is practicing for the second straight day, and not only that, but doing much more than that after a limited practice the day before.

According to Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot, Watson took all the first-team reps during Friday’s practice for the Browns. She stated, “Eyeball test: looks like a go for the Colts game” on Twitter as well.

Looking to stack games and capitalize on a few weeks before a back-to-back stretch of AFC North opponents, the Browns are looking to advance to 4-2 this week against the Colts. Getting their quarterback back into their starting lineup is a crucial first step toward making a run at a divisional title.

We will know shortly if Watson will be back against the Colts or not.

Key players miss practice for Colts on Thursday as they prepare for Browns

The Browns and Colts are set to lock horns in two days, but Indianapolis may be without both Kylen Granson and Braden Smith in this game.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to advance to 4-2 on the season this week against the Indianapolis Colts after upsetting the previously undefeated San Francisco 49ers a week ago. While they are a bit banged up in this one, unsure if quarterback Deshaun Watson or left guard Joel Bitonio will play, the Colts are also hobbled. Already without their starting quarterback Anthony Richardson, the Colts may also be without starting right tackle Braden Smith and tight end Kylen Granson.

Neither of those players practiced on Thursday for the Colts as they look to advance to 4-3 on the season. If Smith cannot go, expect fourth round rookie offensive tackle Blake Freeland to start at right tackle for the Colts, a player who has struggled this season when on the field. The Colts have two other healthy tight ends in Andrew Ogletree and Mo Alie-Cox if Granson cannot suit up.

Here is the full injury report of the Colts as they get ready to host the Browns.

That is the end goal. However, there is news to catch up on before we get to Sunday. Here is all of the Browns news you might have missed from yesterday. Enjoy!

Chargers trade kicker Dustin Hopkins to Browns

Cameron Dicker is officially the Chargers’ starting kicker.

The Chargers traded kicker Dustin Hopkins to the Browns in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick on Monday.

Hopkins was competing with Cameron Dicker for the Chargers’ kicking job, but now he is headed to Cleveland, where he’s set to take over for Cade York, who the Browns cut today.

A hamstring injury limited Hopkins to five games in 2022, which led to the emergence of Dicker, who closed out the season as the team’s kicker.

Signed in Week 7 of the 2021 season, Hopkins converted 27 of 30 field-goal attempts, including a game-winner against the Broncos last year in Week 6.

Dicker, who now takes the helm at kicker, made 19 of his 20 field-goal attempts while connecting on all 22 extra-point tries in 2022.

Charles Barkley on Nick Chubb: ‘I’m going to punch him in the face’

NBA legend Charles Barkley said he wants to punch former UGA football and Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb in the face after Sunday.

A lot of people lost money last Sunday when former Georgia running back Nick Chubb, now of the Cleveland Browns, ran out of bounds at the one-yard line in the final seconds against the Houston Texans.

The touchdown would have allowed Cleveland to cover the 4.5 point spread, but stepping out at the one also enabled the Browns to take a knee and run out the clock without Houston getting to touch it again.

Among many of the bettors who are not thrilled with Chubb’s decision is NBA legend Charles Barkley, and he recently voiced his frustration while on ESPN Cleveland’s radio station.

“If you guys see Nick Chubb, please just punch him in his face for me,” Barkley said. “I had the Browns last week and let me tell you something — I don’t know Nick Chubb, he’s a nice kid, but if he runs out of bounds like that again I’m going to fly to Cleveland personally and beat the hell out of him. I’m jumping up and down thinking I’m going to get this cover, and when he ran out of bounds, I was like, ‘Wait. Did he just run out of bounds?’ So next time I see Nick Chubb, I’m going to punch him in the face.”

That’s a fight I would love to see.

Former Georgia RB Nick Chubb has MCL sprain, will miss time for Browns

The results of the MRI on Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb’s knee have come back and we have a diagnosis for the former Georgia star.

The results of the MRI on Nick Chubb’s knee have come back and we now have a diagnosis for the former Georgia running back.

Chubb has a sprained MCL in his right knee that will force him to miss at least three weeks, per Browns coach Kevin Stefanski.

Chubb is headed to injured reserve, therefore he is required to miss the team’s next three games.

Oh no…Former Georgia RB Nick Chubb leaves game with leg injury

Former Georgia football RB Nick Chubb left the Cleveland Browns game with a leg injury

It was a scary moment in the first quarter of the Cleveland Browns’ Week 4 game in Dallas.

Former Georgia running back Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns went down with a leg injury after getting rolled up on by a Cowboy.

From BrownsWire:

The Browns quickly reported that Chubb was questionable to return with a knee injury. No additional specifics were provided by FOX sideline reporter Pam Oliver in an on-air update.

Chubb immediately grabbed his knee and you can see by the expression on his face that he was in a lot of pain.

For now we will have to hope for the best. And unfortunately the best outcome here might be a high-ankle sprain.
